Saksalaisen Sea Eye NGO:n Alan Kurdi -meritaksi on noukkinut 64 eurooppaantunkeutujaa Libyan rannikolta. Sea Eye on pyytänyt Italiaa tai Maltaa avaamaan satamansa alukselle. Salvini ilmoitti, että koska alus seilaa Saksan lipun alla, toimintaa pyörittää saksalainen NGO, aluksen omistaja on saksalainen ja kapteeni on Hampurista, niin voivat mennä Hampuriin.

Italy rebuffs ship with 64 migrants rescued in sea off Libya

MILAN (AP) — Italy's interior minister said Wednesday that he won't offer safe harbor to 64 migrants rescued off Libya by the German humanitarian group Sea Eye.

The people brought to safety from a rubber dinghy off the coast of Zuwarah, west of the Libyan capital of Tripoli, included 10 women, five children and a newborn baby, the group said. Sea Eye said on Twitter that its rescue ship, the Alan Kurdi, picked them up after Libyan authorities couldn't be reached.

Sea Eye is asking Italy or Malta to open a port to the ship. Italy's anti-migration interior minister, Matteo Salvini, said the Alan Kurdi, like other private rescue ships before it, won't be welcome in Italy.

"A ship with a German flag, German NGO, German ship owner, captain from Hamburg. It responded in Libyan waters and asks for a safe port. Good, go to Hamburg," Salvini said.

Libyan sisällissota on kärjistynyt uudelleen. Maan itäosissa valtaa pitävä Libyan kansallisarmeijan joukot etenevät kohti Tripolia, jossa valtaa pitää YK:n tunnustama Kansallisen Yhtenäisyyden hallitus.

Olen itse saanut aiemmista uutisista sellaisen näkemyksen, että Libyan rannikkovartiosto toimii Tripolin alueella, joten taistelut voivat vaarantaa sen toiminnan.

Kahdeksan vuotta kaaoksessa ollut Libya on vaarassa ajautua täysimittaiseen sisällissotaan.

Muammar Gaddafin johtaman hallinnon vuonna 2011 tapahtuneen kaatumisen jälkeen maan itäosaa ovat hallinneet entisen kenraalin Khalifa Haftarin johtamat puolisotilaalliset joukot.

Haftarilla on ollut käytännössä Libyan itäosassa oma hallintonsa, joka on kilpaillut YK:n tunnustaman, pääkaupungissa Tripolissa toimivan hallinnon kanssa.

Haftarin johtama Libyan kansallisarmeija on aloittanut tunkeutumisen Libyan länsiosaan ja yrittää vallata Tripolin.

Libyan kansallisarmeija on ottanut haltuunsa useita kaupunkeja Tripolin ympäristössä. Eilen torstaina Haftarin armeijaa tukeva ryhmittymä yritti vallata Zawiyan kaupungin, joka sijaitsee 30 kilometriä Tripolin länsipuolella.

Hallituksen joukot estivät lyhyen laukaustenvaihdon jälkeen valtausyrityksen, samoin kuin kapinallisten aikomuksen sulkea Tripolista Tunisiaan johtava valtatie.

YK:n pääsihteeri Antonio Guterres on Libyassa. Hänen johdollaan oli määrä aloittaa ensi viikolla kaikkien Libyan valtaryhmittymien yhteiset neuvottelut maan hallinnon järjestämiseksi ja uusien vaalien aikaansaamiseksi.

Guterres pelkää nyt levottomuuksien leviämistä. Hän yrittää tavata myös Khalifa Haftarin.

Libya on merkittävä öljyntuottaja, joskin sitä pidetään maana, jonka öljyntuotanto on ollut kaikkein epävakainta. Levottomuudet haittaisivat joka tapauksessa öljyntuotantoa ja nostaisivat öljyn markkinahintaa.

Alan Kurdi -meritaksi jatkaa odotteluaan Italian aluevesien rajalla Lampedusan edustalla. Salvini antoi aluksella olevalle kahdelle 1-6 -vuotiaalle lapselle, heidän äideilleen ja yhdelle raskaana olevalle naiselle luvan tulla maihin, mutta he eivät halunneet poistua alukselta ilman perheidensä muita jäseniä. Vastauksena Salvini toivotti heille hyvää matkaa Berliiniin.

Italian ulkoministeriö on pyytänyt Saksaa hoitamaan ongelman ja Saksa taas on delegoinut sen EU-komissiolle. EU-komissio on alkanut kysellä, ketkä EU-jäsenvaltioista olisivat vapaaehtoisia ottamaan taakkaa vastaan. Eli sama show taas kuin edellisissä vastaavissa tilanteissa. EU-komission mediahenkilö kertoo tapauksen osoittavan, että pysyvä taakanjakomekanismi tarvitaan pikaisesti.

'Please help us,' NGO asks Malta after Salvini 'humiliates' migrants

A humanitarian vessel with 64 migrants on board is heading to Malta after it was rebuffed by Italy in what appears to be another protracted migrant saga in the making.

The vessel Alan Kurdi is now on its way to Malta as it is the next safe harbour and the ship will need weather protection, the NGO Sea-Eye said in a statement.

"We are very worried about the weather. Some of those rescued are sleeping on deck. We will follow the instructions of the Maltese authorities not to sail into Maltese waters without permission. But we cannot sustain this situation for many days and will quickly need drinking water and food," Sea-Eye Gorden Isler told Times of Malta.

Two children and 12 women are on board, including two who are pregnant.

"We hope your Prime Minister will help us. The year is still young and there is enough time to argue with other politicians for more far-reaching solutions. But for the moment 64 people need help, urgently."

A government spokesman told Times of Malta the vessel was now located around 30 miles off Malta after it was refused to dock on the island between Friday and Saturday.

Updated (3): Sea-Eye vessel now heading to Majorca; Spain to seek EU assistance on migrants

A vessel with 64 migrants in now on its way to Majorca in Spain, with the migrants seto to disembark in the coming hours.

For a few hours earlier today, the vessel Alan Kurdi, run by NGO Sea-Eye, was on its way to Malta after Italy refused it entry into its waters.

But Malta also resisted the idea of accepting the migrants and the vessel is now on its way to Spain.

The ship will need weather protection, drinking water and possibly food at the weekend, the NGO Sea-Eye said in its statement.

There was no official reaction from the Maltese government, but The Malta Independent is informed that the vessel was not allowed entry into Maltese waters. Later, TMI was informed the vessel had changed course again and was going to Spain.

Alan Kurdi ei ole menossa Mallorcalle, vaan kärttää pääsyä Maltalle. Tässä huomataan mitä siitä seuraa jos antaa periksi näille laittoman maahaanmuuton järjestäjille. Food and water supplies will run out shortly and the medical situation can deteriorate quickly once the storm sets in tonight. We therefore urge the European member states to act in the name of humanity and in accordance with human rights.

AD HOC AGREEMENTS ARE NOT A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH AND CANNOT BE MADE ON THE BACK OF 64 PERSONS, WHO JUST BARELY ESCAPED DEATH THROUGH DROWNING. Rescuing persons from distress should be carried out independently from political agendas within single states. Nevertheless, it seems like the solution to our situation can only be a political one. We have become dependent on the negotiations between EU states, which represent an unacceptable distortion and violation of the law applicable to SAR operations. We are suffering in this position, where you risk being arrested if you follow the law and do what is right, while you are forced to prolong people´s suffering by doing what states request.

Rescue ship stuck in Mediterranean with 64 migrants onboard gets emergency aid delivery

A Maltese relief organisation delivered emergency supplies to the Alan Kurdi ship on Tuesday, which has been awaiting authorisation to dock for the past seven days so that the 64 rescued migrants onboard may disembark.

Malta's MOAS NGO delivered emergency food, water, medicines, dry clothing and blankets to the Alan Kurdi, run by the German-registered NGO, Sea-Eye.

A young woman had to be evacuated on Monday for medical reason after complaining of dizziness and losing consciousness. Sea-Eye said the Maltese authorities reacted promptly but warned that "we have to expect such situations to increase if these people are not allowed to move quickly to a safe place."

Alan Kurdille rahaa kinutessaan tulivat mainostaneeksi että minuutti toimintaa merellä maksaa vaivaiset 2,70 euroa. Tästä voi kertolaskulla päätellä että jokainen päivä jonka kelluvat Maltan tuntumassa maksaa 4000 euroa.

Sinällään, ei tuo nyt niin kovin kallis hotelli ole, jos ei toki mukavuudetkaan huippuluokkaa, sillä 62 asiakkaalle jaettuna nokkaa kohti kertyy päivässä maksettavaa 64 euroa. Ja tässä vaiheessa sitä ei vielä rokoteta syyttömältä veronmaksajalta.

Toisaalta Kurdi on ollut tällä viimeisellä keikalla kolme viikkoa, ja jokainen viikko maksaa hiukka vajaa 30 tonnia.

Ja meidän pitäisi kohdella vainottuina, kidutettuina ja kuolemanvaarassa olevina pakolaisina Libyasta Tunisiaan tullutta porukkaa, josta Amnestyn De Bellis sanoo "he haluavat työtä, jotta voivat lähettää rahaa kotiin".

Vielä huomio Alan Kurdi -meritaksin tilanteeseen liittyen.

Malta päästi matkustajat maihin, mutta aluksen henkilökunta ei saanut lupaa rantautua. Tämän vuoksi aluksen seuraava ihmissalakuljetuskeikka peruttiin ja se on nyt matkalla Espanjaa kohti. Näyttää olevan tätä kirjoittaessani Algerian edustalla.

Malta teki tässä ilmeisesti ihan fiksusti. Jos olisivat sallineet laivan huollon yms., ne olisivat olleet heti hakemassa seuraavaa lastia ja sama tilanne toistuisi jälleen.

Alan Kurdi: Migrants disembark in Malta, NGO crew blocked from landing

Sixty-two migrants stranded at sea for more than a week on the German rescue ship Alan Kurdi landed in Malta late Saturday after four European Union countries agreed to take them in. They will be redistributed among Germany, France, Portugal and Luxembourg.

The crew managing the Alan Kurdi meanwhile was denied entry. According to its captain Werner Czerwinski, the vessel is now headed towards Spain in search of a new harbor. Due to the blockage, the NGO has announced the cancellation of its next mission in the central Mediterranean Sea.

In a joint statement with other sea rescue organizations, Sea-Eye expressed relief over the fact that the migrants were finally allowed to land but emphasized its dismay over what the organization calls an another "shameful episode" and unnecessary prolongation of an emergency at sea by EU member states.

Italian migrant rescue ship judged unfit for sea by coastguard

Mare Jonio was inspected in Marsala port in Sicily by members of the coastguard specialised in navigation safety.

The boat was sanctioned for irregularities on board, the coastguard said in a statement, concluding that the ship did not meet rescue operation standards.

It comes after Italy's far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini last week signed a directive against charity vessels rescuing migrants off Libya, targeting the Mare Jonio in particular.

Salvini, head of the anti-immigrant League party, had warned that the Mare Jonio and others must obey the orders of authorities in foreign search and rescue regions -- a reference to the Libyan coastguard.

The Mare Jonio rescued 49 migrants off the North African country in March after refusing to wait for a Libyan coastguard boat that was in the vicinity.

It took them to the Italian island of Lampedusa, where the ship was temporarily seized by the authorities as part of a probe into illegal immigration, before being given the all clear.

Hyökkäys Tripoliin jatkuu yhä, tähän mennessä 278 on kuollut ja 1332 on haavoittunut taisteluissa.

YK:n pakolaisjärjestö on evakuoinut viime päivinä Tripolin alueella olevia siirtolaisia taisteluiden tieltä. Suurin osa heistä on siirretty maan sisällä, mutta 146 lennätettiin Italiaan.

Migrants evacuated as confident Tripoli fighters tell Haftar: 'We are coming'

The United Nations on Thursday evacuated more than 350 migrants from a detention center in southern Tripoli where a fierce battle raged as fighters from rival Libyan camps traded rockets and artillery shells.

The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by commander Khalifa Haftar, which is allied to a rival government in eastern Libya, has mounted an offensive on Tripoli but has so far failed to breach the city's southern defenses.

The group of migrants could be seen traveling on Thursday in buses to a detention center in Zawiya, a town 40 km (25 miles) west of the capital, bringing the total evacuated since Wednesday to around 675.

They came from a facility in the Qasr Ben Gashir district run by the U.N.-backed government in Tripoli, an area that has become the main theater of fighting.

The World Health Organization said on Twitter that 278 people have been killed in the last three weeks, while 1,332 others have been wounded.

Hyökkäys Tripoliin jatkuu yhä, tähän mennessä 278 on kuollut ja 1332 on haavoittunut taisteluissa.

YK:n pakolaisjärjestö on evakuoinut viime päivinä Tripolin alueella olevia siirtolaisia taisteluiden tieltä. Suurin osa heistä on siirretty maan sisällä, mutta 146 lennätettiin Italiaan.

Jokainen maa vastatkoon siitä, keitä maahan "lennätetään". Tällaiset lennätykset eivät tapahdu itsekseen, vaan siihen vaaditaan maan vastaanottavan maan hyväksyntä. Ei koske Suomea, eihän?

Vuonna 2019 tilaston mukaan Välimeren ylitystä yrittävistä on peräti 1.8 % kuollut, mutta kuolleita on vähemmän kuin 2018.

Laskin viime vuonna, että siviilin riski kuolla terrorissa Irakissa tai Afganistanissa on 0.01 % vuodessa. Tyhmäkin tajuaa, että kukaan ei lähde "turvaan" Välimeren ylittämällä, vaan motiivi tulla on rahan houkutus.

Meritaksipalvelut ja jotkut kyyniset EU-maat - Suomi mukaan luettuna - tapattavat kylmästi nämä ihmiset, jotta voivat sitten paistatella auttajina tai saavat laitonta työvoimaa.

We denounce a capture and deportation in an area of war of 80 people onboard a white rubber boat 65 miles north of Al Khoms.


The patrol boat "Sabratah 654", of the the so-called "Libyan coast guard", performed the operation today between 6.30 and 7pm: the capture of people flying from war and their deportation to the conflict area is an obvious and absolute violation of all international conventions on human rights.

The crime was committed under observation and with communication through VHF channel with a Maltese Air Force "AS1126" aircraft, which is currently flying over a second boat, with 100 people attempting to escape from Libya.

Mare Jonio, besides informing Italian authorities, is heading toward the position of this second boat. It has asked MRCC Italy for instructions, pointing out that there is an explicit prohibition to deport refugees to war zones. Libyan vessels are also heading toward the boat, while the Maltese military aircraft is getting away.

Puolueiden näkemykset jakautuvat huomattavasti, kun kysytään kantaa väitteeseen: "EU:n velvollisuus on pelastaa kaikki hukkumisriskillä Välimeren ylittävät Eurooppaan pyrkivät siirtolaiset".

Kaikkein kielteisimmin asiaan suhtautuu perussuomalaiset, joiden vaalikoneeseen vastanneista ehdokkaista kukaan ei ole väitteestä samaa mieltä. 89 prosenttia on asiasta täysin eri mieltä tai eri mieltä, ja 11 prosentille asia on neutraali.

Toinen ääripää on vasemmistoliitto, jonka vaalikoneeseen vastanneista ehdokkaista kaikki ovat täysin samaa tai samaa mieltä siitä, että EU:n velvollisuus on pelastaa kaikki hukkumisriskillä Välimeren ylittävät Eurooppaan pyrkivät siirtolaiset.

Näitä on hyvä välillä nähdä, niin saa muistutuksen siitä, kuinka mahdottoman tilanteen edessä olemme. Päivittäin miettiessäni vastausta kysymykseen "Onko valtaosa ihmisistä todellakin täysiä idiootteja?" on hyvä tietää, että vastaus on "kyllä", niin ei tarvitse epäillä omaa mielenterveyttään.

Olisi kylläkin mielenkiintoista ymmärtää, onko näin suurella osalla vastaajista alentunut kyky ymmärtää yksinkertaisia syy-seuraus -suhteita, vai onko kyse jostain muusta.

Olisi myös mielenkiintoista verrata tätä kyseisten puolueiden äänestäjien vastauksiin samaan kysymykseen.

Tuota olen miettinyt, että miksi vihervasemmistolaiset ja RKP:läiset niin innokkaasti kannattavat kuolemankujan pitämistä auki. Ovatko he hyvää tarkoittavia ihmisiä, jotka vain eivät tajua, että tämä hukuttaa laittomia siirtolaisia Välimereen?

En usko pelkkään tyhmyyteen. Nämä kannattajat kokevat hyötyvänsä laittomien siirtolaisten tulosta, ja he hyväksyvät ihmisten kuolemat, kunhan heidän oma pyrkimyksensä edistyy.

Olen yrittänyt perustella netissä ns. suvaitseville, että politiikka aiheuttaa ihmisuhreja. Mikä on ns. suvaitsevien reaktio? Joko he sivuuttavat asian tai nauravat sille ja alkavat haukkua minua perussuomalaiseksi. Koskaan ei reaktio ole ollut: "en ollut tajunnut, että ihmisiä hukkuu".

Mielestäni kyseessä on ihmisen taipumus vääntää mielessään moraali sen mukaan, mikä häntä itseään hyödyttää. Toisten houkuttelu kuolemaan on näille ihmisille ylevä teko, jos he itse kokevat saavansa siitä hyötyä.

Huhtikuun alussa Hollannin merenkulusta vastaava ministeri määräsi meritaksitoimintaa harjoittaville Hollannin rekisterissä oleville aluksille lukuisia tiukennuksia mm. varustelua rakennetta ja miehistöä koskeviin määräyksiin. Saksalainen järjestö Sea-Watch koki tulleensa kaltoin kohdelluksi ja vei asian oikeuteen. Juuri tulleen ratkaisun mukaan se sai siirtymäajan määräysten toimeenpanemiseen.

Meritaksi Sea-Watch 3 aikookin heittää köydet irti Marseillen laiturista pikapuoliin palatakseen tarjoamaan kyydin Libyasta Italiaan yrittäville laittomille maahanpyrkijöille. Entuudestaan siellä kalastelee italialainen Mare Jonio.

The Dutch state has wrongly prevented Sea-Watch 3 from leaving the port since the beginning of April – this was the conclusion reached today by a court in The Hague, which was responsible for assessing our emergency application against the blockade of the ship. According to the court, the Minister may not impose the policy change for NGO vessels on Sea-Watch without a transitional period. The court speaks of improper administration, which moreover is in violation of the principle of legal certainty. Sea-Watch 3 will resume its search and rescue operations as soon as possible.

Meritaksien tilauskeskus Alarm Phone yritti välittää kyytiä n. 150 miehiselle veneelle täynnä laittomia siirtolaisia, mutta vene on Libyan aluevesillä. Jostain syystä Libyan MRCC Tripolin lisäksi tilanteesta ilmoitettiin myös Maltan ja Italian meripelastuskeskuksiin Vallettaan ja Roomaan (tai twiitin mukaan ihan toisessa järjestyksessä) ja NGOt huutelivat sitten meritaksi Mare Joniota hätiin.

Italian laivaston alus pelasti tänään aamulla 36 matkustajaa yhdestä veneestä 75 kilometriä Libyan rannikolta. Salvini kielsi alusta tuomasta matkustajia Italiaan. Saa nähdä, toistuuko Diciottin tapaus.

The Italian Navy replies with a note: "The rescue boat embarked with water and was therefore about to sink, with the people on board without life jackets that were in imminent danger of life. The rescue was carried out by the Cigala Fulgosi ship which adhered to the stringent national and international regulations he recovered 36 people including 2 women and 8 children.
