Sajmir Alimehmeti, 26, who lived in an apartment in the Bronx, was sentenced by US district judge Paul Englemayer, who listed the terrifying stash of weapons he amassed.

They included a military-grade survival knife with a five-inch blade, three tactical knives with four-inch blades, two credit-card-sized folding knives, a commando wire pocket saw, a 24-inch pocket chainsaw, a rucksack designed for tactical combat, a tactical ski mask and handcuffs.

Judge Englemayer said it was impossible to conceive of a 'benign reason' for Alimehmeti to 'stockpile weapons that would be used to restrain, gut, or decapitate a human body', according to the New York Post.

Defense attorney Susan Kellman said Alimehmeti had struggled to fit in after moving to the US aged six from Albania.

She claimed he was radicalized as a teenager during a stint for robbery in the Fishkill Correctional Facility by Mohamed Mamdouh, one of the masterminds behind a foiled plot to blow up a Manhattan synagogue in 2011.

In addition to 22 years in prison, Alimehmeti also was sentenced to five years supervised release.

Tanskan poliisi ja tiedustelupalvelu tekivät keskiviikkona kotietsinnän yli 20 osoitteeseen eri puolilla Tanskaa.

POLIISI pidätti keskiviikkona 20 henkilöä suuroperaatiossaan, jonka tarkoituksena oli ehkäistä epäillyn terrori-iskun valmistelu. Pidätykset tehtiin eri puolilla maata. Myös Tanskan tiedustelupalvelu PET osallistui operaatioon.

Asiasta kertovat uutistoimisto Reuters sekä tanskalaismediat. Poliisi ja tiedustelupalvelu PET pitivät yhteisen tiedotustilaisuuden asiasta keskiviikkoiltana. Poliisi kertoi kotietsintöjen kohdistuneen 20 osoitteeseen. Etsintöjen yhteydessä löytyi räjähteiden valmistamiseen tarvittavia aineita. Pidätetyt olivat myös yrittäneet saada haltuunsa aseita.

TANSKALAISLEHTI Ekstra Bladetin mukaan poliisi kertoi, että kaikki terrori-iskun suunnitteluun liittyvät ihmiset on pidätetty eikä ihmisillä ole syytä huoleen. Epäiltyjä vastaan aiotaan nostaa syytteet torstaina. Tilaisuudessa PET kertoi saaneensa haltuunsa tiedustelutietoa, jonka mukaan ääri-islamistinen terroriteko oli suunnitteluvaiheessa.

Syyttäjänviraston tiedottaja kertoi, että kaksi kuukautta Puolassa oleillut Maksym S. kääntyi islamin uskoon vain muutama viikko sitten ja otti nimen Muhamat.

Ukrainalaismies imi oppinsa Tadžikistanista, Venäjältä ja Tšetšeniasta saapuneilta radikaali-islamisteilta. Muhamatia odottaa nyt jopa 5 vuoden vankeusrangaistus.

Wien. Drei gebürtige Tschetschenen sollen zwischen Weihnachten und Neujahr einen terroristischen Anschlag in der Bundeshauptstadt geplant haben. Konkret sollte dieser den - behördlich vorerst nicht bestätigten - Ermittlungen zufolge am Stephansplatz oder am Christkindlmarkt am Rathausplatz durchgeführt werden.

Zwei Verdächtige wurden Ende vergangener Woche vom Landesgericht Wiener Neustadt in U-Haft genommen, der Dritte verbüßt derzeit eine Haftstrafe in der Justizanstalt (JA) Hirtenberg. Dieser Mann gilt als Sympathisant der radikalislamistischen Terror-Miliz "Islamischer Staat" (IS), er wurde vom Landesgericht Korneuburg wegen terroristischer Vereinigung (Paragraf 278b StGB) zu einer dreijährigen Freiheitsstrafe verurteilt.

Zwei der drei Tschetschenen, die derzeit in Haft sind, sind Ahmed A. (25) und Alik B. (31). Beide sind durchtrainierte Kampfsportler. Käfigboxer. Sie wurden von einem serbischen Häftling in der Justizanstalt Hirtenberg schwer belastet. Der Serbe, der als IS-Fanatiker beschrieben wird, hat gegenüber Beamten angegeben, dass die beiden Tschetschenen Anschläge rund um Weihnachtsmärkte in Wien planen.
Darauf wurden – wie ausführlich berichtet – die beiden Männer Mitte der Woche festgenommen.
Ein anonymer Hinweisgeber hatte die Strafverfolgungsbehörden und den Verfassungsschutz auf die Spur der drei Männer gebracht. Angelpunkt und Zentralfigur dürfte der in der JA Hirtenberg einsitzende Häftling sein. Vor allem vor diesem soll der Hinweisgeber gewarnt haben, da er auch nach seiner Verurteilung der IS-Ideologie anhänge. Umfangreiche Ermittlungen, Telefonüberwachungen und Observationen erhärteten die Verdachtslage, die schließlich zur Festnahme der auf freiem Fuß befindlichen Tschetschenen führte - wegen "Gefahr im Verzug", wie am Montag aus Justizkreisen zu erfahren war.

Fluchtgefahr, Verdunkelungsgefahr, Tatbegehungs- sowie Tatausführungsgefahr
Als Haftgründe wurden vom zuständigen Landesgericht Wiener Neustadt bei den bisher unbescholtenen Männern im Alter von 25 und 31 Jahren Fluchtgefahr, Verdunkelungsgefahr, Tatbegehungs- sowie Tatausführungsgefahr angenommen, teilte Gerichtssprecherin Birgit Borns auf APA-Anfrage mit. In formaler Hinsicht laufen die Ermittlungen in Richtung terroristischer Vereinigung. Die Causa wird als Verschlussakt geführt, sowohl die Strafverfolgungsbehörden als auch das Innenministerium reagierten auf mediale Anfragen entsprechend zurückhaltend und gaben sich bedeckt - zunächst auch auf die Frage, ob es nun verstärkte Sicherheitsvorkehrungen gebe.

Fest dürfte stehen, dass die drei Verdächtigen laufend Kontakt hatten, auch nachdem einer von ihnen abgeurteilt und in eine Justizanstalt überstellt worden war, wo an sich ein Handyverbot gilt und ein Kommunizieren mit der Außenwelt unmöglich sein sollte. Beim Jüngeren der kürzlich Festgenommenen wurde im Zug einer Hausdurchsuchung ein gefälschter, auf den Namen des Häftlings ausgestellter rumänischer Ausweis sichergestellt.

Wie konkret die Anschlagspläne gediehen waren, ließ sich vorerst nicht eruieren. Dem Vernehmen nach soll sich das Trio auch über Anschlagziele in Deutschland und Luxemburg unterhalten haben.

Florian Kreiner, der Anwalt des 31-Jährigen, wies die Verdächtigungen gegen seinen Mandanten gegenüber der APA zurück. "Da ist überhaupt nichts dran", versicherte er. Sein Mandant habe mit dem IS nichts zu tun. Der 25-Jährige wiederum ist in der Wiener Kampfsport-Szene ein Begriff. Er war regelmäßig als MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)-Fighter im Einsatz. "Sechs Kämpfe hat er gewonnen, einen verloren", berichtete sein Verteidiger Wolfgang Blaschitz. Auch Blaschitz hält die Beweislage für dürftig: "Was die behaupteten Anschlagspläne betrifft, hat es keine Vorbereitungshandlungen gegeben."

Sydneyssä asuneet Khaled ja Mahmoud Khayat saivat vuonna 2017 tapahtuneesta terrori-iskun yrityksestä 40 ja 36 vuoden tuomiot, kertoi sanomalehti Sydney Morning Herald. Mukana suunnitelmassa oli myös kolmas veli Tarek Khayat, joka taisteli terroristijärjestö Isisin komentajana Syyriassa.

Iskun kohteena piti olla Sydneystä Abu Dhabiin matkaava lentokone. Veljekset ujuttivat pommin sisarussarjan neljännen veljen Amer Khayatin matkatavaroihin tämän tietämättä. Lihamyllyn sisään piilotettu räjähde ei kuitenkaan päässyt koneeseen asti, sillä matkalaukku todettiin lentokentällä liian painavaksi. Sen jälkeen kaksikko suunnitteli toista iskua käyttäen myrkyllistä kaasua.

TURKIN poliisi on pidättänyt 94 ihmistä epäiltyinä kytköksistä jihadistiverkosto Isisiin, uutistoimistot kertoivat maanantaina. Pidätyksiä tehtiin eri puolilla maata juuri ennen valmistautumista uudenvuoden juhlintaan.

Turkin poliisi on tehnyt näyttäviä ratsioita kahtena edellisenäkin vuotena juuri uudenvuoden alla. Vuonna 2017 asemies hyökkäsi uutenavuotena yökerhoon Istanbulissa ja tappoi 39 ihmistä. Isis otti terrori-iskun nimiinsä.

Ex-Uber driver found guilty of terror attacks at gay pride and Madame Tussauds

A jihadist has been convicted after plotting massacres at Gay Pride and other busy London tourist hotspots.

Former Uber driver Mohiussunnath Chowdhury, 28, started plotting gun, knife and van attacks just days after being cleared of slashing police officers with a sword while shouting 'Allahu Akbar' outside Buckingham Palace.

Woolwich Crown Court was told he was driven by 'dreams of martyrdom' to plot the attacks on targets including Madame Tussauds, Piccadilly Circus and an open-top sightseeing bus last year.

Chowdhury, from Luton, did not realise he had been confiding his terror plots to undercover police posing as like-minded extremists who had him under surveillance during a five-month operation.

To prepare for his atrocity, he had lifted weights, practised stabbing and rehearsed beheading techniques, as well as booking shooting range training and trying to acquire a real gun, jurors heard.

Chowdhury's own defence barrister Simon Csoka QC argued the university drop-out was a 'pathetic little man' and an 'attention-seeker' who 'talks and talks, but doesn't do'.

On Monday, jurors at Woolwich Crown Court found him guilty of engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts, collecting information likely to be useful to someone preparing an act of terrorism, and disseminating terrorist publications.

The second charge related to a document titled 'guidance for doing just terror operations' on his phone which included instructions on how to kill people with knives.

His sister Sneha Chowdhury, 25, was also convicted of one count of failing to disclose information about acts of terrorism and cleared of another count of the same charge.

The punishment for Demetrius Nathaniel Pitts, also known as Abdur Raheem Rafeeq or Salah ad-Deen Osama Waleed, was handed down Tuesday morning by the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Pitts has been in custody since July 2018 for plotting an Independence Day attack in Cleveland.

The FBI says he intended on planting explosives downtown and wanted to give explosive remote-controlled toy cars to children in hopes they would harm their own parents.

Poliisin peiteoperaatio paljasti terroristin.

Lontoolainen Safiyya Shaikh on tunnustanut suunnitelleensa itsemurhapommi-iskua Lontoon St Paulin katedraaliin. Asiasta uutisoivan BBC:n mukaan terroristin suunnitelma paljastui poliisin peiteoperaation ansiosta.

Shaikh pidätettiin viime vuoden lokakuussa. Kahden poliisin kerrotaan esiintyneen jihadistipariskuntana ja ystävystyneen ISIS-järjestöä tukeneen Shaikhin kanssa kahta kuukautta aiemmin. Terroristi vaihtoi poliisien kanssa synkkiä viestejä.

Venäjän turvallisuuspalvelun FSB:n joukot ampuivat Isisiä ihannoineen ase- ja pommimiehen Murmanskin kaupungissa.

Linnuntietä vain noin 150 kilometriä Suomen rajalta, Murmanskin kaupungissa Venäjällä, aiottiin tehdä terrori-isku perjantain ja lauantain välisenä yönä.

Aiotusta terrori-iskusta kertoi Venäjän tietotoimisto Tass.

Laajassa etsintäoperaatiossa Venäjän turvallisuuspalvelun FSB:n erikoisjoukot saivat kuitenkin miehen olinpaikan selville. Kun erikoisjoukot olivat menossa pidättämään miestä, epäilty terroristi avasi tulen kohti erikoisjoukkoja, jolloin erikoisjoukot ampuivat miehen.

Aseistetun pommimiehen henkilöllisyys on saatu selvitettyä. Turvallisuusviranomaisten mukaan hän oli Venäjällä kielletyn terroristijärjestön Isisin tukija, ja Murmanskin-iskun jälkeen tekijän oli tarkoitus mennä Lähi-Itään jatkamaan terroristista toimintaa.

Viranomaiset ottivat kiinni terrori-iskuja suunnitelleita jihadisteja Stavropolin ja Hanti-Mansian alueilla. Näiltä löytyi aseita, räjähteitä, kemikaaleja räjähteitä varten ym.

A jihadist yesterday pleaded guilty to plotting to blow up the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Statue of Liberty with IEDs and a rocket launcher. 

Hasher Jallal Taheb, 23, of Cumming, Georgia, was snared in an FBI sting in January 2019 when he tried to buy assault rifles, explosive devices, and an anti-tank weapon from undercover agents.

He had changed his name and obtained a US passport for travel abroad, for 'hijra', a term used by ISIS to encourage its followers to migrate to its enclaves in Syria and Iraq.

In addition, by July of that year he had begun planning domestic jihad with his targets initially including the White House and the Statue of Liberty.

'Taheb planned to conduct a terrorist attack on the White House as part of what he claimed was his obligation to engage in jihad,' said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers. 'And that was just one of the iconic American landmarks he wanted to target.'

Taheb will be sentenced on June 23 before U.S. District Judge Mark H. Cohen. As part of the plea agreement, Taheb and the government agreed that he should receive a 15-year sentence of imprisonment.

Egyptiläissyntyinen ISIS-terroristi/jihadistiräppäri Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary saapui Espanjaan muutama päivä sitten laittomien siirtolaisten puuveneessä ja esiintyi "paperittomana".

Bary aikoi palata lähtömaahansa Britanniaan, mutta poliisi pidätti hänet alkuviikosta Almeríassa. Lisäksi kaksi muuta henkilöä pidätettiin ja näiden henkilöllisyyksiä sekä suhdetta Baryyn selvitetään.

Kyseessä on yksi Euroopan etsityimmistä terroristeista.

British 'jihadi rapper' who posed with a severed head was 'snuck into Spain by boat after posing as an undocumented migrant' before being arrested by anti-terror police

British 'ISIS rapper' Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary snuck into Spain by boat after posing as an undocumented migrant, it was claimed last night.

Spanish state broadcaster TVE said the jihadi reached the city of Almeria in a patera, the wooden boats Africans traditionally use to reach Europe from as far afield as Senegal.

It said Bary had reached Spain 'a few days ago.'

Another unconfirmed report on Tuesday night in national Spanish newspaper La Razon claimed he was intending to return to the UK as soon as possible.

Police have said they are aware of the way Bary reached Spain and confirmed he came from North Africa - but have not yet admitted he arrived in a 'patera.'

They revealed they had arrested one of Europe's most wanted Foreign Terrorist Fighters earlier on Tuesday along with two other men they were trying to identify.

Bary, who shared sickening social media images of himself holding a decapitated head in Syria in 2014, will appear before a Madrid judge on Wednesday in a closed hearing.

He was held during a dawn raid on Monday by heavily-armed cops.

'Another two people have been arrested and the authorities are currently working to establish their identity and their relationship with the other man.'

Revealing all three had recently entered Spain from North Africa illegally, the National Police said in a statement: 'The detainees adapted their behaviour to Spain's Covid-19 State of Emergency, going outside very little, separately and always with face masks on to avoid being detected.'

Bary was not named in the statement put out by Spanish authorities, who described the main suspect as being of Egyptian origin.

Well-placed police subsequently confirmed the 'dangerous' Foreign Terrorist Fighter they had arrested was Bary.

He was born in Egypt but moved to the UK as a six-year-old after his dad was released from prison and applied for political asylum with his wife and family.

Before leaving for Syria in 2013 he made a name for himself as a rapper and some of his music was played on Radio 1. 

Police sources said Tuesday that British-Egyptian jihadist Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary was the 'foreign terrorist fighter' detained in a raid in Almeria on Monday.

Authorities described him as 'one of Europe's most wanted terrorist fighters' with an 'extremely violent criminal profile' and a 'criminal record in the ranks of ISIS'.

Jihad­istin nimeä ei ole julkistettu.

Sinänsä vähän harvinaisempi tapaus, kun ei Puolassa ja muissa Visegrád-maissa tyypillisesti notku kovin paljoa AA-väkeä.

Foreigner reportedly associated with ISIS detained

A citizen of Lebanon allegedly associated with ISIS was apprehended on April 16 by officers of the Border Guard, on the assignment of the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW).

According to the findings of ABW, the detainee posed "a real threat to the internal security of Poland and the citizens of the country."

The investigation indicated that the man planned to organise in Poland and other EU countries a network capable of conducting terror attacks in the Western Europe. He has family ties with the terrorists of the so-called Islamic State, who died in war in Iraq and Syria.

Police in Denmark prevented a terror attack that was said to have "a militant Islamic motive," authorities confirmed in a statement on Thursday.

Danish police on Thursday arrested a man who is suspected of planning a terrorist attack, the chief of Copenhagen's police force Jorgen Bergen Skov said in a joint press conference with the operative head of Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service (PET) Flemming Drejer.

"He is suspected of attempting to obtain firearms and ammunition to carry out a terrorist operation somewhere," Bergen Skov said, declining to provide details about the location of the planned attack.

"You must have no doubt that PET's efforts have led to the prevention of a terrorist attack," he said.

Drejer said the man was planning "one of several attacks" and that police believe he was acting alone. The man had "a militant Islamic motive," Drejer added.
