Ali Charaf Damache får 15 års fängelse när domen föll i USA för att ha rekryterat radikaliserade personer till en mordkomplott mot Lars Vilks.

Ali Charaf Damache, en 53-årig man med ursprung från både Irland och Algeriet har nu dömts efter en tio år lång härva, skriver TT.

Tidigare har 53-åringen hävdat att han är oskyldig men har nu erkänt. I rätten ska han ha svarat att han ändrat sig för att han faktiskt är skyldig snarare än en förhandlingstaktik.

Damache rekryterade radikaliserade individer över internet från USA till Europa. Avsikten var att döda den svenska konstnären Lars Vilks för hans teckningar där han ritat bland annat profeten Muhammeds ansikte på en hund.

Åkte till Europa för att döda Vilks

Bland de radikaliserade fanns Colleen "Jihad Jane" LaRose, en amerikanska som redan sitter dömd för att ha åkt till Europa med avsikten att döda konstnären.

– Han organiserade en plan för att utbilda dem kring sprängmedel och skicka ut dem i västvärlden för att utföra våldsam jihad, säger assisterande åklagare Jenniefer ARbittier Williams enligt mediereferat från Philadelphia i USA där rättegången hölls.

Domen mot Ali Charaf Damache kunde falla sedan en uppgörelse gjorts med åklagarna. I uppgörelsen stryks en del mindre åtalspunkter, medan Damache lovar att inte motsätta sig utvisning från USA efter avtjänat straff, skriver TT.

Han väntas då bli skickad antingen till Irland eller Algeriet som är länder där han har medborgarskap.

Ali Charaf Damache gets 15 years in prison when the verdict fell in the United States to recruit radicalized people into a murder plot against Lars Vilks.

Ali Charaf Damache, a 53-year-old man from both Ireland and Algeria has now been convicted of a ten-year raid, TT writes.

Earlier, the 53-year-old claimed that he is innocent but has now acknowledged. In court he should have answered that he changed because he is actually owed rather than a negotiating tactic.

Damache recruited radicalized individuals across the internet from the United States to Europe. The intention was to kill the Swedish artist Lars Vilks for his drawings, drawing the prophet Muhammad's face on a dog.
Went to Europe to kill Vilks

Among the radicalized were Colleen "Jihad Jane" LaRose, an American who is already convicted of going to Europe for the purpose of killing the artist.

"He organized a plan to educate them about explosives and send them out in the western world to carry out violent jihad," assists prosecutor Jenniefer ARbittier Williams according to media reports from Philadelphia in the US where the trial was held.

The judgment against Ali Charaf Damache could then fall as a deal with the prosecutors. The deal eliminates some minor points of action, while Damache promises not to oppose expulsion from the United States after serving penalties, TT writes.

He is then expected to be sent either to Ireland or Algeria, which are countries where he has citizenship.

Syyskuussa 2014 pidätetty Agim Kruezi saa tuomionsa tänään Australiassa.

Would-be terrorist Agim Kruezi had rifle, petrol for 'imminent attack'

Brisbane terror plotter Agim Kruezi bought a rifle in Sydney and equipment to make molotov cocktails in the days before his ­arrest, with prosecutors des­cribing his planned attack as ­"imminent".

His arrest in September 2014 came six months after he was stopped from flying out of Brisbane to Kosovo, en route to Syria, after receiving funding for the trip through a notorious Sydney terror financier.

Kruezi, 25, will be sentenced in Brisbane's Supreme Court today for preparing or planning for a terrorist act and preparing for an incursion into a foreign state.

He has pleaded guilty to both charges.

Yesterday, prosecutor Lincoln Crowley told the court that although the plot — and its target — had not been finalised, the collection of potential molotov cocktails and the sawn-off rifle found loaded by police suggested "random, innocent people" could have been killed in the attack.

John Allen QC, for Kruezi, said the evidence pointed towards the luring of police — whom his client blamed for his passport being cancelled — to an area where they could be the targets of the attack.

Kruezi had been in contact with now-jailed Sydney terror fin­ancier Ali al-Talebi and his notorious group, known as "the Shura", as long ago as 2013.

The Shura agreed to fund Kruezi's planned travel to Syria, where he was to join an al-Qa'ida affiliate in Syria, and $7705 was deposited into the bank account of an acquaintance of Kruezi, who initially had refused to pass on the money.

Logan man Agim Kruezi jailed for 17 years over terror plot

A Queensland man who was planning a suicide terrorist attack on Australian soil has been sentenced to 17 years in jail.

Agim Kruezi, 25, was arrested in counter-terrorism raids in Logan in September 2014, and pleaded guilty to making acts of preparation for a terrorist attack and making preparatory acts for incursion to a foreign state.

Crown Prosecutor Lincoln Crowley told the court Kruezi was planning "to kill random, innocent people in a public place and ultimately die as a martyr in that attack".

"[Kruezi] demonstrated support for martyrdom, that he believed that martyrs automatically go to heaven and believed that he'd be in heaven soon," Mr Crowley said.

When he was arrested officers discovered a loaded 0.22 semi-automatic sawn-off rifle, two balaclavas, two machetes, a letter from DFAT saying his passport was cancelled, a photocopy of a book titled "Jihad", and an Islamic State flag pinned to his bedroom wall.

In the days before his arrest Kruezi purchased a jerry can with 10 litres of petrol and went shopping for glass bottles and corks with the intention of making Molotov cocktails.

He also bought a bow and arrow because he was angry about his passport being cancelled by Australian authorities, when he planned to travel and fight in Syria.

Kruezi's laptop contained two videos of him shooting arrows into a styrofoam head and instructions on how to carry out beheadings.

Justice Roslyn Atkinson also said she was not convinced Kruezi no longer held extreme views.

"There is no evidence that you have changed your views," she said.

Spanish police have raided addresses in the northeastern city of Mataro and arrested two persons on suspicion of allegedly forming part of a terror cell dedicated to the recruitment and radicalization of individuals willing to travel to areas of conflict in the Middle East and join terrorist groups, a statement said Wednesday.

Teenager Safaa Boular jailed for life over IS terror plot

The youngest woman to be convicted of plotting a terror attack on British soil has been jailed for life, with a minimum term of 13 years.

Safaa Boular, 18, of Vauxhall, London, was convicted of preparing acts of terrorism and attempting to travel to Syria to join Islamic State militants.

She had been groomed online by her IS fighter "husband" who was later killed.

Boular was part of the UK's first all-female terror cell with her mother and sister, who were both jailed in June.

An Old Bailey jury found she had planned to die in a suicide bombing in Syria - but when that was not possible, she hoped to attack the British Museum.

Passing sentence, Judge Mark Dennis QC told Boular her views were "deeply entrenched" and "she was old enough to make her own decisions and her own choices".

"However much she may have been influenced and drawn into extremism, it appeared she knew what she was doing and acted with open eyes," he said.

Defence barrister Joel Bennathan QC said Boular had a neglectful mother and a radicalised sister, describing her as a child from a damaged home.

He said she had type 1 diabetes and was "sexually groomed" and radicalised by a British IS recruit.

Mr Bennathan said her teenage years had been chaotic but there had been a "genuine" change in her character since her arrest.

Boular, who presented herself at trial in Western clothing and declared herself deradicalised, showed no emotion as she was sentenced.

Tunisia: 2 suspected jihadists arrested for planning attacks

Tunisia's anti-terrorism forces have arrested ''two terrorists in contact with another jihadist of Tunisian nationality residing in Germany, already arrested by German authorities with the charge of planning a terrorist attack'', the Tunisian interior ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that the first suspect arrested ''had unsuccessfully tried to join terror groups in Syria but he had nevertheless maintained contacts with the jihadist in Germany with whom he was planning to carry out simultaneous terror attacks with homemade bombs built in Tunisia and Germany''.

The second suspect detained ''had pledged to create a fake passport for the terrorist residing in Germany to help him flee the European country after carrying out the attack'', the statement also said. Anti-terrorism prosecutors in Tunis have issued an arrest warrant against him for ''belonging to a terror organization''.

German prosecutors: Tunisian planned ricin terror bombing against 'unbelievers'

German prosecutors have widened their probe into a foiled biological terror attack. Meanwhile two suspected accomplices have also been arrested in Tunisia, one of whom planned a "simultaneous" attack in that country.

German authorities on Friday revealed further details of an investigation into a Tunisian man accused of planning an Islamist-inspired terror attack using a biological weapon.

Sief Allah H. was arrested in June in a commando raid on his apartment in the western city of Cologne. Investigators found "toxic substances" that were later determined to be deadly ricin poison. The 29-year-old was also alleged to have bomb-making materials in his possession.

As part of a widening probe, investigators said Friday that prosecutors on August 1 charged the Tunisian with "planning a serious act of violence against the state" and membership in a foreign terrorist organization.

Previously, prosecutors had kept Sief Allah H. in custody on reasonable suspicion. His wife was arrested last month on suspicion of being an accomplice.

According to the Karlsruhe-based Federal Prosecutor's Office, the Tunisian intended to carry out a biological terror attack against "unbelievers" in Germany.

"He wanted to explode a ricin bomb packed with shrapnel in a busy indoor place," prosecutors said in an update on their investigation. It was unclear if there was an exact target.

Contact with IS handlers

The suspect had previously sought on two occasions in 2017 to enter Syria through Turkey, but failed to join the "Islamic State" (IS) there for unknown reasons.

Then in September and October last year, Sief Allah H. allegedly made contact on social media with unknown IS members living outside Germany who encouraged him to prepare a bombing in Germany.

Arrests in Tunisia

Meanwhile, Tunisian authorities said Friday they had arrested two men in connection with the terror plot. It is unclear if the two Tunisians are the same as those with whom Sief Allah H. had contact on the internet.

Tunisia's Interior Ministry said the two men were in close contact with Sief Allah H. One of the men is alleged to have prepared a false passport for him.

The other plotted with Sief Allah H. "to simultaneously carry out in Tunisia and Germany two attacks using homemade bombs," according to Tunisian anti-terrorism spokesman Sofiene Sliti.

AMRR of 21 years of age and Moroccan nationality, the seller of the passes for the ferry from Algeciras at the Lopidana service station, Álava, in full N1 on its way through Vitoria, has been arrested on Tuesday in a joint Spanish- Moroccan, accused of belonging to the Daesh and planning the commission of an attack in Spain. According to sources of the National Police, the arrested had made plans with another subject arrested in 2017 in Morocco, with which he formed a fully integrated cell in Daesh, to enter clandestinely in Spain. The police attributed to him work of recruitment and indoctrination . The operation has begun at eight in the morning, but until 13.50 has not been transferred to the police.

The operation has also counted on the collaboration of the Provincial Information Brigade of Vitoria. In the same have been specified three records, two of them in their homes in Vitoria and Algeciras and another in a booth of the aforementioned town of Cadiz that the detainee frequented.

The man arrested was known for his membership in radical circles of jihadist ideology in the city of Algeciras, where he usually resided. This had undergone a drastic change in their daily habits of life and in their manifestations, which ranged towards extremist Salafist postulates, even going so far as to defend in social networks violent actions perpetrated by terrorist organizations, especially Daesh. In the summer, when the point of sale of passes was activated, AMRR spent seasons in Vitoria. "They were nice kids," says one of the commercials at the Repsol service station. "They ate here and we made them pizzas many times".

AMRR had maintained contact with another individual, detained at the end of 2017 in Morocco, producing secret meetings in Moroccan territory, as well as contacts in social networks and other virtual platforms, whose ultimate goal was to plan an attack on Spanish soil. In these clandestine meetings, the detainee urged that person to move to Spain using illegal immigration networks operating in the Strait of Gibraltar and once he was in our territory he would provide the infrastructure and the means, both economic and materials, for the perpetration of terrorist actions.

The investigation, developed under the supervision of the Central Court of Instruction Number 1 and the coordination of the Office of the Prosecutor of the National Court has concluded that the detainee sent audio-visual material about the terrorist organization DAESH to incite him to commit attacks. In addition, it adopted continuous security measures as a form of protection, among others using secure instant messaging applications and making use of different mobile telephony lines.

London Disney store plot: Muslim convert pleads guilty to planning terror attack

The Old Bailey hears police found detailed plans for several targets in the capital, including Oxford Street and Madame Tussauds.

A Muslim convert has pleaded guilty to plotting to kill around 100 people outside a Disney store on London's Oxford Street.

Lewis Ludlow, 26, swore allegiance to Islamic State (IS) as he prepared to drive a van through London's main shopping area or near Madame Tussauds.

Using a false name, he bought a mobile phone and wrote down his plans to carry out an attack in notes later found torn in pieces in a bin.

He picked out Oxford Street as an "ideal target" and wrote: "It is expected nearly 100 could be killed in the attack."

Ludlow, of Rochester, in Kent, planned an attack after being stopped by police at Heathrow Airport in February as he tried to board a flight to the Philippines.

He was due to go on trial in the autumn on two charges of preparing acts of terrorism and one of terror funding but at an Old Bailey hearing on Friday he pleaded guilty to plotting an attack in the UK and funding IS abroad.

Ludlow is alleged to have set up a Facebook account called Antique Collections as a front to send money to Asia to fund terrorism.

Mark Heywood QC, prosecuting, said it was not in the public interest to pursue a trial on a charge of attempting to join IS in the Philippines which Ludlow denied.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) officers arrested Ludlow on 18 April but he refused to explain himself when interviewed by detectives.

Ludlow, who appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh prison, will be sentenced on 2 November.

London brothers-in-law charged with terror offences

Two brothers-in-law have appeared in court charged with terror offences.

Ahmed Aweys, 32, of Redbridge, east London and Abdulaziz Omer Munye, 26, of Romford, east London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

Mr Aweys has been charged with dissemination of terrorist publications and Mr Munye has been charged under section 2 of the Terrorism Act.

The men, who are both Somali, were ordered to next appear in custody at the Old Bailey on 31 August.

The Metropolitan Police said the charges stemmed from an ongoing counter-terror operation which has resulted in four arrests.

A 30-year-old woman detained on suspicion of terrorism offences on Thursday morning remains in custody while a 29-year-old man, who was arrested on 18 April, remains on bail.

Tucson immigrants charged with hiding connection to Somali terror group

A Tucson couple was arrested Friday after being indicted on charges that they lied to U.S. immigration officials, including false statements about the husband's connection to a militant Somali group.

Mohamed Abdirahman Osman, 28, and Zeinab Abdirahman Mohamed, 25, were arrested by agents with the FBI and Homeland Security, said Cosme Lopez, an spokesman with the U.S. Attorney's Office. They were indicted on a combined 11 counts by a grand jury.

The indictment alleges that Osman was recruited by Al-Shabab, a terrorist group in Somalia, and was injured while handling explosives, and lied to U.S. officials to cover up his involvement with the group.

Documents submitted by Osman and Mohammad as part of their refugee application, and a later application for legal permanent residency, contained "false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements," Lopez said.

The indictment alleges that Osman applied for refugee status in August 2013 with U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services officers in Beijing, China, and used an alias, filing his paperwork under Mustaf Adan Arale, and claimed that he was a citizen of Somalia.

Osman had actually been born in Ethiopia, and had "obtained, and used a passport from the Somali Republic," the indictment read.

Osman also denied "having a personal acquaintance with anyone who has ever been involved with Al-Shabab, a designated terrorist organization, or any other armed group."

According to the indictment, which had been sealed by a federal judge until after the arrests, Osman admitted that he had been recruited to join Al-Shabaab and moved from Ethopia to the Somali capital Mogadishu at "the direction of Al-Shabab."

Police have shot a knifeman shouting Allahu Akbar who tried to attack them at a station near Barcelona early this morning.

The drama happened around 6am at a police station in Cornella on the outskirts of the Catalan capital.

Regional Mossos d'Esquadra police said in a tweet: 'A man armed with a knife has accessed the police station in Cornella this morning with the aim of attacking officers. He has been taken out.'

But officers declined to confirm reports the knifeman had been killed.

Local reports said the man was a 29-year-old of Algerian origin and had shouted Allahu Akbar - God is great.

An officer who was in the reception area of the police station is said to have shot him.

A Mossos d'Esquadra spokeman said she could not confirm he had been killed but local reports said emergency services had failed in their attempts to revive him when they reached the scene.

The Mossos d'Esquadra investigate the assault this morning at the Cornellà police station (Barcelona) as a "terrorist attack". The commissioner Rafel Comes, responsible for the fight against terrorism, has detailed that the man, Abdelouahab Taib, has entered police offices "mentioning Allah and other expressions that could not be identified" by the agent of the Mossos on which he has " pounced "carrying a knife of large dimensions.

Six hours after the attack, the commissioner has appeared to explain the episode, although he has reserved some sensitive details of the investigation. "They are facts of extreme seriousness in which we have to mourn the death of a person." At 5.45 this Monday, he said, a man "has called the intercom" of the police station and has indicated "insistently" that he wanted to "make a query." An agent who was in the "fish tank" has opened the door of the police station and it was then when the man has "pounced" on her "with a clearly homicidal and predetermined will to assault her and end her life". Comes has insisted that the individual had "the will to kill" the agent, who when attacked has fired at him and has killed him.

The Mossos work in coordination with the rest of the police forces and from the first moment they have alerted them to the event so that "extreme self-protection measures". Comes has insisted that in the coming hours more details will be known. In particular, once the Mossos receive authorization from the National Court to proceed to the entry and registration of the Garraf street flat, where the man lived. Germany detains man suspected of planning terror attack

Police in Berlin have arrested a 31-year-old Russian citizen accused of plotting to carry out a bomb attack somewhere in Germany. Prosecutors allege he is a radical Islamist.

Russian national Magomed-Ali C. was arrested at an apartment in Berlin on suspicion of planning a "serious act of violence against the state," Germany's Federal Prosecutor's Office said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old is an alleged accomplice of Clement B., who was detained on terror charges in the French city of Marseille last year.

At the time of his capture, Clement B., 22, was in possession of several firearms and 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of highly explosive triacetone triperoxide (TATP). The prosecutor said French investigations suggested he had previously been working with Magomed-Ali C. to plan an attack at an unknown location in Germany "in order to kill and injure as many people as possible."

Their preparations were interrupted by a police operation in October 2016, prompting the pair to separate, with the Russian man staying in Germany and Clement B. traveling to France.

Germany Indicts Two Suspected Islamic State Members

German prosecutors have indicted two suspected members of the Islamic State group, accused of participating in the execution of a high-ranking Iraqi official in 2014.

Federal prosecutors said Thursday that the two Iraqis were formally charged with war crimes as "member of a foreign terrorist organization."

They were identified only as 42-year-old Raad A. and 19-year-old Abbas R. Their surnames weren't released for privacy reasons.

Prosecutors said the older man acted as an accountant for IS in Mosul from June 2014 onward, while the younger performed armed patrols for the group in the city. Abbas R. is also suspected of transporting weapons and bodies of IS victims.

Raad A. allegedly tried to recruit fellow Iraqis into IS after moving to Germany in July 2015.

Both were arrested in May 2017.

Adelaide woman accused of being Islamic State member faces trial

A Supreme Court jury has been warned they will be exposed to gruesome and graphic evidence during the trial of an Adelaide woman accused of being a member of a terrorist organisation.

Zainab Abdirahman-Khalif, 23, has pleaded not guilty to knowingly being a member of the Islamic State (IS) group between July 2016 and May 2017.

In his opening address, Commonwealth prosecutor Chris Winneke QC said at the time of the alleged offending, Ms Abdirahman-Khalif lived with her mother and two brothers at Mansfield Park, in Adelaide's north-west.

He said that in March 2016, she quit her diploma of science and technology at the University of South Australia, which she had been studying in pursuit of becoming a nurse, and decided to "follow a different path".

"The crown case is on July 13, 2016, unbeknown to her family and using her savings, she purchased over the internet a one-way ticket [from Adelaide] to Istanbul in Turkey ... for departure the following day," Mr Winneke said.

"So on July 14, 2016, without telling her mother and brothers that she was leaving the country, with only hand luggage and very little funds ... she set out for the airport."

The court heard she was detained prior to boarding and prevented from getting onto the flight.

"The crown case is the defendant, in leaving Australia and going to Turkey, was ultimately going to make contact with Islamic State and commence to live in territory held by Islamic State as a member of that society, and as a follower of the leader of that organisation," Mr Winneke said.

Dozens of videos found on accused's phone

Mr Winneke said Ms Abdirahman-Khalif was in communication with three young African women who carried out a bombing in Mombasa, Kenya, in September 2016, for which IS later claimed responsibility.

The court heard Ms Abdirahman-Khalif lived in refugee camps in Kenya until she was 13 years old and moved to Australia with her family, who are of Somalian origin, in 2009.

She studied at the Islamic College of South Australia until 2011 and completed Year 12 at Roma Mitchell Secondary College.

The trial is expected to run for four weeks and will hear evidence from a number of witnesses, including an academic expert in terrorist activities in the Middle East.

Christmas terror plot: Alleged jihadists face trial accused of planning Melbourne attack

Prosecutors in the trial of three men accused of preparing to carry out a terrorist act in Melbourne's CBD have told court the accused were motivated by extremist jihadist ideology.

Abdullah Chaarani, 27, Ahmed Mohamed, 25, and Hamza Abbas, 23, were charged with conspiring to carry out preparations for a terrorist attack in the CBD during the 2016 Christmas period.

The trio were committed to stand trial last year, charged with conspiring to carry out preparations for a terrorist attack in the CBD during the 2016 Christmas period.

In his opening address on the first day of the trial in Victoria's Supreme Court, Nick Papas QC said the trio followed an extreme brand of Sunni Islam that directed followers to wage war against non-believers.

"They were motivated by ideological, religious objectives to raise violent jihad against those who are non-believers," Mr Papas told the jury of eight women and seven men.

Marlonn Hicks, 31, of Crown Point, Indiana, was sentenced today to 15 years in prison, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release, for distributing information regarding the manufacture and use of explosives, with the intent that the information be used for and in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The sentence was announced by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, U.S. Attorney Thomas L. Kirsch II for the Northern District of Indiana and Special Agent in Charge Grant Mendenhall of the FBI's Indianapolis Division.  The sentence was issued by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph S. Van Bokkelen.

"The online communications by Mr. Hicks drew swift attention from our agents, who had identified and monitored him early in his path to radicalization," said Special Agent in Charge Mendenhall.  "As this radicalization deepened,  the FBI continued to monitor Mr. Hicks' activity and took action to mitigate any threats ensuring the public's safety."

According to the documents in this case, Hicks rapidly transformed from a vocal online supporter of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, to someone planning a terrorist act.

Within days of the Orlando, Florida Pulse Nightclub terrorist attack, Hicks was inspired to commit an act of terrorism and kill innocent civilians. On June 21, 2016, nine days after the Pulse massacre, Hicks discussed "getting busy" with a FBI source who Hicks believed was an ISIS supporter.  Hicks sent this source two manuals on how to manufacture and use explosives and poisons and continued to discuss with this FBI source possible terror attacks.

Soldier who pledged allegiance to Islamic State to plead guilty in terrorism case

A Hawaii-based Army soldier accused of attempting to support the Islamic State group will plead guilty, his lawyers told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Birney Bervar, one of Sgt. 1st Class Ikaika Kang's attorneys, told the AP that Kang will plead guilty as charged in the indictment, which accuses him of providing material aid to terrorists. Kang is agreeing to a 25-year sentence for charges that could have put him in prison for life, Bervar said.

Alexander Silvert, an assistant federal defender representing Kang, also said the soldier has agreed to plead guilty.

Court documents allege Kang provided classified military information to undercover agents whom he believed were part of the Islamic State group.

Kang is scheduled to withdraw his not guilty plea Thursday, court records show. The hearing was moved from the afternoon to the morning because of concerns about a hurricane headed for Hawaii, Silvert said.

A plea agreement hasn't been filed in court yet.

A confidential informant told authorities Kang watched videos depicting beheadings and other violence in his room for hours every day, according to court documents.

Kang told the informant that if he became an Islamic State member, he would be a suicide bomber and attack Schofield Barracks, a sprawling Army base outside Honolulu, according to an affidavit filed in court.

Isis-jihadistijärjestölle uskollinen mies on tänään keskiviikkona todettu syylliseksi Iso-Britannian pääministeri Theresa Mayn murhaamisen suunnitteluun.

20-vuotias Naa'imur Zakariyah Rahman suunnitteli, että räjäyttäisi pommin pääministerin Downing Streetin asunnon sisääntuloporteilla, tappaisi vartijat ja hyökkäisi Mayn kimppuun puukon tai käsiaseen kanssa.

Syyttäjän mukaan Rahman suunnitteli myös kuolevansa hyökkäyksessä.

Birminghamin alueelta tuleva Rahman pidätettiin alun perin marraskuussa 2017 poliisin peiteoperaatiossa. Mies luuli noutavansa räjähdereppua Isis-järjestön toimijalta, mutta vastassa olikin virkavalta.

Lautamiehistö tuomitsi miehen Old Baileyn oikeustalolla Lontoossa. Tuomiota ei ole vielä luettu.

An Islamic State terrorist has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 30 years after plotting to kill Theresa May.

Naa'imur Zakariyah Rahman, 21, from Finchley in north London, was found guilty last month of preparing acts of terrorism in Britain, having been arrested in November 2017 moments after collecting dummy explosives from an undercover officer.

Rahman wanted to bomb the gates of 10 Downing Street, kill armed officers and then attack the prime minister with a knife or gun.

His plot was discovered after he contacted an FBI agent who was posing as an IS official online.

The agent introduced him to an MI5 role-player, and Rahman began to reveal his ideas.

"I want to do a suicide bomb on parliament," he said. "I want to attempt to kill Theresa May.

PhD student charged with Sydney terrorism plot

A PhD student working at the University of NSW has been arrested by police after a notebook allegedly containing terrorist ideology inspired by Islamic State was found on the eastern suburbs campus.

Police on Friday said a colleague of 25-year-old Sri Lankan national Mohamed Kamer Nilar Nizamdeen found the notebook filled with locations and individuals that would be the subject of an alleged terrorist plot.

It is understood that the alleged potential attack was planned for several months away and involved iconic landmarks in Sydney.

Police were called to the university, where Mr Nizamdeen works as an IT contractor, on Thursday and arrested and charged him with making a document connected to the preparation of a terrorist act.

"They are symbolic locations within Sydney," said NSW Police's Detective acting Superintendent Mick Sheehy at a press conference on Friday morning.

The PhD student was acting as a lone wolf, but "from documentation, he would affiliate with ISIS", acting Superintendent Sheehy said.

Mr Nizamdeen has been in Australia on a student visa for several years completing his post-graduate studies.

He has returned to his native Sri Lanka and "other areas", although police refused to specify where exactly he had visited.
