A shopkeeper from Birmingham who tweeted in support of Islamic State and called for Shia Muslims to be burnt to death has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Mohammed Zahir Khan, 40, of Salisbury Street, Sunderland, admitted encouraging acts of terror and inciting religious hatred via his social media accounts.

The father-of-one, originally from Birmingham, had served long sentences in the past for drugs supply offences and moved to the north east to make a break from gangs.

But he spread hatred on Twitter, saying "death to shias ... death to every single one of them", describing them as "dirty and filthy shiite scum" and calling for them to be burnt alive.

He also tweeted on January 2 2017: "Welcome to the year of fear, IS will make this one the deadliest ever. Mr Kuffar (non-believers) prepare for real war."

In March last year he posted on Facebook a statement about martyrs and the flag associated with Islamic State.

He also re-posted a tweet which included an IS call to attack US bases in Bahrain.

Judge Paul Sloan QC told him: "You had an uninhibited hatred for Shiite Muslims, President Assad and his regime, non-believers and hatred for some Western countries such as the US."

Since his arrest and being held on remand, Khan's views have developed in a more positive direction, his prison Imam wrote to the court.

Outside court, Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson, head of investigations at Counter Terrorism Policing North East, said: "Tackling extremist material is an essential part of protecting the public and preventing offences that incite or encourage acts of terrorism."

Terroristisen rikoksen valmistelusta epäillyt vangittiin Ruotsissa

Ruotsissa terroristisen rikoksen valmistelusta epäillyt kolme miestä vangittiin Solnan käräjäoikeudessa torstaina. Kaikki epäillyt kiistivät rikoksen ja vastustivat vangitsemista.

Kaksi syytteessä olevista vangittiin todennäköisin syin. Toinen heistä on 38-vuotias uzbekkitaustainen Kirgisian kansalainen ja toinen 45-vuotias mies Uzbekistanista. Lievemmin syytä epäillä -perustein vangittiin puolestaan 29-vuotias mies Uzbekistanista.

Syyttäjän mukaan terroristisen rikoksen valmistelu aloitettiin jo viime vuoden tammikuussa.

Vangitsemisoikeudenkäynti pidettiin suljetuin ovin.

Syytteessä olevat miehet otettiin kiinni maanantaina, kun turvallisuuspoliisi teki ratsioita maan pohjoisosassa ja Tukholman alueella.

Naa'imur Rahman, from north London, is accused of planning to detonate an explosive device at the gates of Downing Street, and killing the Prime Minister in the ensuing chaos

An alleged ISIS fanatic accused of plotting to assassinate Theresa May in an attack on Downing Street has denied a terror charge.

In a hearing at the Old Bailey this morning, Naa'imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, pleaded not guilty to preparing acts of terrorism.

He was arrested on November 28 last year, and prosecutors alleged that he carried out reconnaissance of the target location, recorded a pledge of allegiance, and purchased a rucksack.

According to the charge, he delivered the rucksack and jacket to be fitted with an improvised explosive device, and collected it "with a view to committing attacks against persons in the UK".

The defendant, of Finchley, north London, also allegedly assisted Mohammad Aqib Imran, 22, in his terrorism plans.

On or before November 28, Rahman recorded and sent to Imran "a sponsorship video in order for him to be accepted by Islamic State", the charge says.

Imran, of Sparkbrook, Birmingham, allegedly tried to join IS, and is charged with preparing acts of terrorism.

His charge alleges that he saved money to pay for a fake passport and travel to Libya, and sent two photos of his passport data to secure a fake passport.

He carried out online research into travel options and terrorist publications and had an IS-sponsorship video sent by Rahman, the charge says.

He also downloaded How To Survive In The West - A Mujahid's Guide 2015, it is claimed.

Rahman and Imran were arrested in raids by the Metropolitan Police's counter-terrorism command in London and Birmingham.

The pair appeared at the Old Bailey before Mr Justice Haddon-Cave via video-link from Belmarsh Prison.

They spoke only to confirm their identities and enter not-guilty pleas.

They were remanded in custody ahead of their trial at the Old Bailey on June 18.

Long-haired Rahman wore a grey sweatshirt, black trousers and plimsolls.

He sat cross-legged on a chair next to his co-defendant, who has long curly hair and a beard and wore a pink sweatshirt and grey trousers.

31-årig terrormisstänkt släpps fri

Den man som i torsdags greps i Lund misstänkt för förberedelse till terrorbrott släpptes efter häktningsförhandlingar i eftermiddags. Tingsrätten menar att bevisningen inte räcker och han släpptes med omedelbar verkan.

Häktningsförhandlingarna inleddes klockan 16 i Malmö tingsrätt. Vid 17-tiden meddelades att han frisläpptes. Enligt 31-åringens försvarare så nekar mannen till brott.

– Det finns fortfarande anledning att anta att brott har begåtts, så en förundersökning pågår, säger åklagare Lars Morand efter förhandlingarna.

Han begärde mannen häktad, grundat på förhör, undersökning av hans bakgrund och en beslagtagen mobiltelefon och en del handlingar.

Italian anti-terror ops target 14 supporting war in Syria

Italian police have launched anti-terrorism operations across the country in the hunt for 14 suspects linked to a network supporting Islamic extremists in Syria.

Prosecutors said Thursday that police were exercising arrest warrants for four suspected militants, one Syrian and three Moroccans, in Sardinia; and elsewhere in the country for 10 Syrians suspected of money laundering and other financial crimes linked to terror financing.

Italy's top anti-terror prosecutor Federico Cafiero de Raho told Sky TG24 that the suspects belong to a single cell that was "collecting and distributing considerable funds to Syria to support the war." He said all were legal residents of Italy.

Police video showed officers exercising the arrest warrants in the pre-dawn hours. It was not immediately clear how many people had been taken into custody.

Italian poliisi otti kiinni al-Qaidaa rahoittaneen jihadistiryhmän - Rahaa kerättiin eri puolilla Eurooppaa

Italian poliisi on ottanut Sardinian saarella ja Pohjois-Italiassa kiinni terroristiryhmä al-Qaidaa rahoittaneen verkoston.

Italian poliisi on ottanut kiinni verkoston jäseniä, joiden epäillään rahoittaneen terroristijärjestö al-Qaidaa Syyriassa. Kiinniotot tapahtuivat Sardinian saarella ja Pohjois-Italiassa. Italian poliisi otti kiinni 14 henkilöä epäiltynä jihadistien rahoittamisesta.

'Sisterhood in Jihad': UK's First All-Female Islamic State Cell Accused of London Plot

A pair of sisters and their mother are accused of plotting the UK's first all-female Islamic State-inspired terror attack on London, spurred on by a fighter in Syria.

The Old Bailey heard how Safaa Boular, 18, planned a knife attack at the British Museum after she was prevented from joining her jihadi fiancé Naweed Hussain in the terror caliphate, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Boular urged her sister Rizlaine Boular, 21, to carry out a strike on the Houses of Parliament, and their mother, Mina Dich, 44, provided "positive assistance and support" to the plot, the court heard.

Safaa wanted to "martyr" herself with a suicide bomb and also considered using guns, grenades, and even a car to cause maximum destruction, but eventually followed her partner's advice settled on a blade.

The mother reportedly had images of beheadings, women holding machine guns, and one pictured captioned: "Sisterhood in jihad, where we fight together get martyred together and fly together inshallah."

After police uncovered Safaa's intention to travel to Syria in August 2016, she is said to have turned her attention to Britain, staying in contact with her terrorist partner on encrypted messaging applications.

However, British Security Services thwarted her efforts by deploying specially trained "role play" officers to trick the sisters into talking online.

Prosecutor Duncan Atkinson QC said: "It was clear that Hussain had been planning an act of terrorism with Safaa Boular in which she could engage if she remained in this country.

"Both Hussain and Safaa Boular talked of a planned ambush involving grenades and or firearms."

She also told an officer posing as an Islamic State fighter that all she needed was a "car and a knife to get what I want to achieve", the court heard.

Atkinson added: "Based in her preparation and discussion, it appears she planned to launch an attack against members of the public selected largely at random in the environs of that cultural jewel and most popular of tourist attractions, the British Museum in central London."

Boular and her mother have admitted to preparing acts of terrorism, but Safaa has denied two charges. The court also heard:

"Based on her preparation, reconnaissance, and discussion, it appears that (Rizlaine) planned to launch an attack, using knives against members of the public, in the environs of the Palace of Westminster in central London.

"Like her sister's thwarted plan, this was an attack that was intended to involve the infliction of serious injury and death."

A teenage girl planned to use guns and grenades in an attack on the British Museum after an Isis fighter she hoped to marry was killed in Syria, a court has heard.

Safaa Boular was 16 when she came into contact with British militant Naweed Hussain through Isis "friends" she met online, the jury at London's Old Bailey was told.

She allegedly planned to travel to Syria with her older sister but had her passport seized by authorities who stopped her family as they returned from holiday in Morocco in August 2016.

After being released on bail, Ms Boular is said to have discussed committing a terror attack in the UK with Hussain and became increasingly "committed" to the plot when he was killed in an airstrike.

Prosecutor Duncan Atkinson QC told the court Ms Boular professed that all she would need would be a "car and a knife to get what I want to achieve".

Norwegian Connected to French Firm Who Paid Off Islamic State Arrested for Terrorist Financing

French police have arrested a 40-year-old Norwegian man on charges of financing terrorism after he is believed to have helped pay off the Islamic State terror group for French concrete giant Lafarge, who were operating in Syria.

The 40-year-old worked as a security director at the cement factory opened in Northern Syria by Lafarge in 2011, has a background in the Norwegian security services, and is a fluent Arabic speaker.

The 40-year-old wrote a book on his two years living in Syria during the civil war in which he admitted paying ransoms to militias who kidnapped Lafarge employees and giving money to the Islamic State as a "tax" to allow the safe passage of the company's trucks, Sveriges Radio reports.

In a 2016 interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, the 40-year-old said that most of the kidnappings were by so-called "moderate" rebel groups, while adding: "we also had indirect relationships with ISIS, which became Islamic State, among other things because we had to buy some commodities that came from quarries they controlled."

He added: "A few times they stopped delivering to the factory, and then we had intermediaries who went in and negotiated with them to open the roads."

The arrest of the 40-year-old marks the eighth arrest of individuals connected to Lafarge's operations in Syria. One of those arrested, a former human resources manager, has since been charged with "endangering the lives of others."

In total it is believed the company gave the terror group around half a million dollars to keep their Northern Syrian factory running. From July 2012 to September 2014 the company is said to have paid out $5.56 million to various armed groups in the region.

Last month French authorities were able to identify 416 individuals who have been financing the Islamic State and other terror groups from France. Experts have estimated that the terror group could be sitting on a large reserve of cash, claiming they may have collected as much as three billion euros.

Germany Charges Al-Shabab Member Somali Migrant Under Terror Laws

German authorities have charged a Somali man who allegedly was a member of the foreign extremist group al-Shabab and is accused of attempted murder and assistance to murder.

Federal prosecutors said Monday that 20-year-old, identified only as Abduqaadir A., joined the group in 2012 in Mogadishu, and was trained to use pistols and hand grenades. During his training, he accompanied other al-Shabab members to a mosque where they assassinated a person with three shots to the head.

He was later assigned to kill a Somali government employee with the help of another group member at a restaurant. There, he shot several times at the man, wounding but not killing him. He was therefore arrested by al-Shabab until he managed to flee in October 2012.

Prosecutors say the accused came to Germany in June 2014, and was arrested in February.

More than 50 foreign nationals have been arrested in Istanbul for their alleged links to Daesh terror group, according to police sources on Tuesday.

Anti-terror squads conducted simultaneous raids in 13 districts to apprehend 54 Daesh suspects, who were allegedly preparing to carry out attacks, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to media restrictions, said.

Police also seized organizational documents and digital tools linked to the terror group at 19 locations in the city.

More than 300 people have lost their lives in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey so far, where the terror organization has targeted civilians in suicide bomb, rocket and gun attacks.

Turkish security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to thwart Daesh attacks.

Updated: State prosecutors are calling for a two-year suspended prison sentence for three members of the Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ISSC) who are facing trial on charges of having produced illegal propaganda for the terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda.

In a case that has raised concerns about possible infringements on journalistic practice, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) says the trio broke Swiss laws that forbid support for groups such as Al-Qaeda and the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) by interviewing and publishing online an interview with Saudi cleric Abdullah al-Muhaysini carried out in Syria in 2015.

While interviewing radical Islamicists is not illegal, prosecutors say Naim Cherni, a young filmmaker from Bern and head of the ISSC's cultural production unit, together with the organisation's media spokesperson Abdel Azziz Qaasim Illi and ISSC president Nicolas Blancho contravened journalistic principles in the publication of Cherni's interview with al-Muhaysini.

Prosecutors say that by giving the Saudi cleric 35 minutes of air time and only giving two minutes to the interviewer, the makers of the video had produced propaganda for Al-Qaeda.

The OAG says the makers of the video footage which was confiscated by prosecutors in 2015 gave al-Muhaysini a "prominent, multilingual and multimedia platform" to promote himself and the ideology of Al-Qaeda.

The videos of the interview  – which feature al-Muhaysini calling on young Muslims in Europe to join the jihad in Syria, but not with ISIS – helped promote jihadism, the OAG argues.

In the Federal Court in Bellinzona on Wednesday, state prosecutor Juliette Noto called for a suspended sentence of two years' prison for the three ISSC members, with the probation period being five years – a demand described by Swiss media as "tough".

However, the defendants argue the trial is politically motivated and their lawyers are expected on Thursday to call for all charges to be dropped.

They say al-Muhaysini is neither a member of Al-Qaeda nor a terrorist, but rather a bridge-builder between different Islamicist groups in the Syrian opposition – a fact confirmed by the Swiss Federal Intelligence Service (FIS) in a report cited by Swiss regional daily Aargauer Zeitung.

Al-Muhaysini originally travelled to Syria intending to reconcile the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda with ISIS. However, he stepped away from ISIS because they killed Muslims.

He was an active recruiter of child soldiers and was featured in the first issue of Syria's Al-Qaeda magazine al-Risalah where he criticised ISIS. But he maintains he is independent from Al-Qaeda.

In the lead-up to Wednesday's case in the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, the ICCS, which has around 4,000 members from Switzerland's estimated Muslim population of over 400,000, provided journalists with access to the prosecutors' indictments and FIS documents relating to the investigation.

In those documents, Al-Muhaysini was described as a propagandist, a Sharia judge and a recruiter of jihadists. The FIS also said his anti-ISIS stance was logical given his de-facto support for Al-Qaeda.

The trial is expected to conclude on Thursday with a verdict to be handed down by the end of the month.

Supporters of the three defendants cried out Allahu Akbar (God is the greatest) outside the Bellinzona court on Wednesday, according to Swiss daily Le Temps.

France says suspected poison terror attack foiled after brothers arrested

Police in France have foiled a suspected terror attack and arrested two brothers of Egyptian origin in Paris, French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said on Friday. The pair are suspected of planning attack using the poison ricin.

"There were two young people of Egyptian origin who were preparing to commit an attack, with either explosives or ricin, this very powerful poison," the minister said on BFMTV.

"They had tutorials that showed how to make ricin-based poisons," Collomb said, adding that they had communicated via the Telecom encrypted messaging app.

The revelation came after a 29-year-old man was killed and five other people injured in a deadly knife attack in Paris last Saturday night.

Collomb did not indicate when they were arrested, but a source close to the inquiry said they were detained in the northern 18th Arrondissement of Paris on May 11, the day before Khamzat Azimov carried out his knife rampage.

In February Collomb said that France had foiled two terror attacks since the beginning of the year targeting a leading sports team and the armed forces.

"Since January 1, we have foiled two planned attacks which had not been totally finalised but a number of people were in the process of trying to execute them," Collomb told Europe 1 radio at the time.

One was "in the east" of the country and one "in the west", he said. One of them was planned against a "big sports team" where "young people were targeted", and the other the armed forces.

He said police had followed a number of people suspected Islamists and arrested them.

"That is how we were able to thwart" these plots, Collomb said, but declined to give further details as to the location of those held or the planned targets.   

According to official figures, 20 attacks were foiled in France in 2017.

Brazilian federal prosecutors have charged 11 people with planning to establish an Islamic State cell in Brazil and trying to recruit jihadists to send to Syria, according to a court filing seen by Reuters on Thursday.

Police tracked the alleged Islamic State militants through their social media messages after Spain's Guardia Civil provided telephone numbers found on a Brazilian arrested in Spain for belonging to a jihadist group there.

In one WhatsApp chat group, some of the Brazilian suspects discussed plans to copy last year's London Bridge attack during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro or Salvador to kill as many people as possible, the document said.

Two of the Brazilians are being held in a maximum-security prison and five others, arrested since October, were freed pending trial, said a spokesman for the prosecutor's office for the state of Goias in central Brazil that filed the charges.

Police found homemade weapons in the house of one of the suspects, who identified himself in social media messages as a supporter of the militant Islamic movement al-Qaida.

It was the second copycat group dismantled by Brazil in two years.

Before the 2016 Rio Olympics, police arrested 10 people suspected of belonging to a poorly organized group supporting Islamic State who discussed terrorist acts during the Games.

The Brazilian government described the group as "absolutely amateur" and said its members were in contact via messaging apps but did not know each other personally.

Three Florida Men Sentenced for Conspiring to Provide Material Support to ISIS

Gregory Hubbard, aka, Jibreel, 54, of West Palm Beach, Florida; Dayne Antani Christian, aka, Shakur, 33, of Lake Park, Florida; and Darren Arness Jackson, aka, Daoud, 53, of West Palm Beach, were sentenced to prison today for conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, U.S. Attorney Benjamin G. Greenberg for the Southern District of Florida, Special Agent in Charge Robert F. Lasky of the FBI's Miami Field Office, and members of the South Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg.

According to the court docket, including the factual basis for the guilty pleas, Hubbard was arrested on July 21, 2016, at Miami International Airport where he had been driven by co-defendant Jackson for a scheduled flight to Berlin, Germany.  From Berlin, Hubbard intended to travel to Syria to join ISIS.

At various times during the conspiracy, which ran from approximately July 2015 until Hubbard's arrest, Hubbard and his co-defendants, Christian and Jackson, talked about their support for ISIS and jihad, including acts of terrorism committed by and attributed to ISIS and its supporters. During the conspiracy, Hubbard and his co-defendants and others, practiced shooting weapons multiple times in preparation for Hubbard traveling to Syria to join ISIS.

Hubbard received a joint recommended sentenced of 12 years in prison, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

Christian and Jackson who both pleaded guilty in 2017 and provided significant cooperation to the government, received sentences of eight years in prison and four years in prison, respectively.  Both were also sentenced to five years of supervised release.

The FBI and JTTF investigated the case with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Transportation Security Administration; Miami International Airport Police Department; Boca Raton, Florida, Police Department; Palm Beach Sheriff's Office; City of West Palm Beach Police Department; and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karen E. Gilbert and Edward C. Nucci of the Southern District of Florida, and Trial Attorney Larry Schneider of the National Security Division's Counterterrorism Section.

ARMED cops yesterday swooped on a teenage Jihadi suspect over fears he was planning a terrorist attack.

The 18-year-old was arrested just after midnight in a North London street.

He was kept under surveillance for several weeks before a decision was made to move in and arrest him over concerns he had access to a gun.

In the event, no firearm was found.

The youth was arrested on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism and taken to a South London police station for questioning.

Police declined to say whether they believe the suspect was planning to attack any specific targets.

8 Kosovo Albanians jailed on foiled attack on Israeli team

A Kosovo court has sentenced nine Albanians, eight to jail, for planning a foiled attack against the Israeli soccer team during a 2016 qualifying World Cup match in neighboring Albania.

Pristina court Judge Hamdi Ibrahimi on Friday sentenced the leader of the group, Visar Ibishi, to 10 years in jail. Seven others got between a year-and-a-half in prison to 6 years. One was slapped with a 2,500-euro ($2,950) fine.

"There is no place for extremism on this land," the judge said. "Such defendants' acts have aimed to create both in Kosovo and Albania a climate of uncertainty, let the extremist elements get in and destabilize the country with terror acts."

The planned attack in November 2016 was said to have been coordinated by two Albanians in Syria fighting with the Islamic State group. Kosovo authorities say about 180 citizens are still active with extremist groups in Syria and Iraq.

Both Kosovo and Albanian authorities claim that no more of their citizens have joined the rebel groups in Syria and Iraq over the past couple of years.

A TEENAGER has been arrested by counter-terrorism police in the street in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, on Wednesday, in an operation linked to the arrest of another teenager last week.

Counter-terror police have arrested a teenager in Hertfordshire on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism.

The 19-year-old man was detained in a street in Bishop's Stortford just before 7pm on Wednesday.

Scotland Yard said it related to the arrest of an 18-year-old man by armed police in a north London street on Friday.

Both teenagers are being held in custody on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism, under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, the Metropolitan Police said.

A property in Bishop's Stortford is being searched.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested in south London just after 8am on Wednesday morning in connection with the case.

She is also in custody on suspicion of failing to disclose information about acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Officers from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested a 19-year-old man [C] on Wednesday, 23 May at 6.57pm for the offence of preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Officers also searched an address in north London which the Metropolitan Police said was now complete.

The 18-year-old, of Brancker Road, Harrow, has been charged with seven offences of making a record of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

He is also accused of three offences of dissemination of terrorist publications.

Amman is due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court later today.

Darlow said the overarching aim of his activities was to provide an "e-toolkit for terrorism". In one of the defendant's online posts he suggested dropping a smoke grenade "to cause panic". He wrote: "You will be enjoying taking them down one after the other #terrorizethekuffar."

In another message, he wrote: "No need to board trains. Just get to the train station. Then, in the name of Allah, get busy!" The words were followed by emoticons of a bomb and a knife dripping blood.

He detailed various methods of murder, including use of knives, homemade bombs, poison, vehicles and Krav Maga, a martial art employed by Israeli military forces.

As well as the online messages, Rashid, who taught at the Muhammadi mosque, had started producing a glossy magazine called Lone Mujahid, the same name as one of his Telegram channels, and similar to the al-Qaida publication Inspire. He distributed the latter and researched travelling to Syria to fight for Isis.

Al-Qaeda bomb-maker, 28, who was arrested with a stash of knives just yards from Downing Street claimed he had a 'message' for Britain's political leaders, court hears

An al-Qaeda bomb-maker was carrying three knives when he was arrested just yards from the gates of Downing Street claiming he had a 'message' for Britain's political leaders, a court has heard.

Khalid Mohammed Omar Ali, 28, was planning to stab police officers and politicians when was intercepted by armed officers just yards from Downing Street on 27 April last year, jurors were told.

A court today heard he allegedly left his family to make bombs for the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2011.

After five years, he returned to his home country to deliver a deadly 'message' to the government, jurors were told.

When he was arrested by British armed police near Parliament on April 27 last year, he was carrying three knives, the Old Bailey heard.

Prosecutor Brian Altman QC told jurors Ali's potential targets included MPs, police and the military.

He said: 'On Thursday April 27 last year this defendant, Khalid Ali, was arrested by armed police officers in Whitehall in Westminster.

'When he was searched he was found to be in the possession of three knives of varying lengths which he had only bought that same day.

'Two knives were found in right and left pockets of his jacket. The longest was removed from the waistband of the tracksuit trousers he was wearing.

'The defendant went there armed with three knives for one reason only - to launch a deadly terror attack to strike at the very heart of this country's democracy by killing a police officer, a member of the military or even a Parliamentarian.

'Chillingly, but for the interception of the defendant by police, he would have carried out yet another murderous terror attack in Westminster.'

Mr Altman said security cameras had tracked Ali's route from West Ealing to Ealing Broadway and on to Victoria on the District Line Tube to the most 'sensitive and iconic' part of the capital.

He told jurors that just four weeks before, Khalid Masood had driven at pedestrians and stabbed a police officer to death in Westminster.

In his police interview, Ali said he wanted to 'deliver a message to the leaders and decision-makers of this country', the court heard.

He called for the West to leave Muslim lands, for Palestine to be returned, and for the West to release prisoners of war, while claiming the knives were for his own protection, Mr Altman said.

The prosecutor said Ali had told police he was loyal to the Taliban and al Qaida.

'Sisterhood in Jihad': UK's First All-Female Islamic State Cell Accused of London Plot

A pair of sisters and their mother are accused of plotting the UK's first all-female Islamic State-inspired terror attack on London, spurred on by a fighter in Syria.

The Old Bailey heard how Safaa Boular, 18, planned a knife attack at the British Museum after she was prevented from joining her jihadi fiancé Naweed Hussain in the terror caliphate, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Boular urged her sister Rizlaine Boular, 21, to carry out a strike on the Houses of Parliament, and their mother, Mina Dich, 44, provided "positive assistance and support" to the plot, the court heard.

Teenager, Safaa Boular, found guilty of first all-female UK terror plot

A teenager has been found guilty of plotting a terrorist attack in central London with her older sister and her mother, in Britain's first all-female terrorist plot.

Safaa Boular, 18, had been trying to reach Syria in order to marry an ISIS fighter, but when her attempt was foiled by police, she turned to plotting a suicide bomb and gun attack on the British Museum.

Her older sister Rizlaine, 22, and her mother Mina Dich pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to taking over the plot and planning their own attack, after Safaa was arrested by police in April last year.

Prosecutors told the trial that by early 2016, Safaa Boular had developed an extremist mindset, downloading pictures of a child in a suicide belt, a woman in a suicide belt and images of beheadings.

She was interviewed by police in August 2016 as she returned from a family holiday in Morocco and admitted the idea of dying as a martyr "appealed" to her.

She told officers she had 300 or 400 ISIS "friends" online that she kept hidden from her British friends.

He told her: "Don't eva b hesitant 2 pull da pin ok. Ur honour is worth more than any kaafirs [non-believer's] life. Me n u in jannah [paradise] 2gether. We depart 2 world holdin hands."

She replied: "Wanna leave dunya [this world] tho. I want jannah so bad."

After questioning by police, Safaa continued to communicate with Hussain using a secret phone and the encrypted app, Telegram.

Meanwhile MI5 used specially trained role-players to pose as fellow extremists online, in a bid to discover what the pair were planning.

In December 2016, Hussain told one of the MI5 agents that the plan involved someone he "trusted with his life", adding: "The place that has to be visited is the capital. I believe this is best for maximum carnage. The other person will not go alive, I tell you this now, so all out until you reach jannah [paradise]."

In April last year, MI5 bugged the Boular family home in Vauxhall, south London, and heard Safaa discussing with her mother what it would feel like to die as a martyr.

It can now be disclosed that MI5 bugged the house of Rizlaine's friend where they heard her rehearsing the attack.

Another bug at the Boular family home had earlier recorded Safaa and her mother laughing about the Westminster attack last March in which five people were killed, including PC Keith Palmer.

Rizlaine and Mina Dich visited a local Sainsbury supermarket in order to buy kitchen knives, which they were planning to use to stab a police officer near Parliament.

The pair also undertook a reconnaissance trip by car, driving around major landmarks in the Westminster area.

Detectives believe the attack was planned to take place the next day, 27 April, the day that Rizlaine and her mother were arrested.

Fearing the attack was imminent, specially trained counter terrorism firearms officers raided a house in Willesden, north London.

Rizlaine Boular was shot and injured by officers as they forced their way into the house. She has since made a full recovery.

5 years for Dilbeek jihadi

A man from the Flemish Brabant municipality of Dilbeek has been sentenced to five years in prison for having fought with the Islamist terror group IS in Iraq and Syria. The Judge also imposed an 8,000 euro fine and ordered the man's immediate detention. 

In December 2015 the police received information about a man from Dilbeek that was reported to have left to fight for IS on the Syrian front. The police questioned his family. However, they claimed that he had returned to Algeria where he was originally from and had abandoned his wife and children. However, an investigation discovered that he had not travelled to Algeria and that in all likelihood he had entered Syria secretly via Turkey.   

Moreover, the man had displayed evidence of having become radicalised before he left for Syria. He had reprimanded women at his work for not wearing a burqa and refused to shake their hand.

Conclusive eveidence was found during a search of his home. A memory stick containing photographs was found in his oldest son's bedroom.  One of the photographs showed the man dressed in IS clothing, holding an AK47.  The Federal Judicial Autorities say that the photograph was taken in in the Iraqi town of Fallujah.

Germany Arrests Four Islamic State Suspects, One Iraqi Migrant Killed U.S. Troops

German authorities have arrested four Iraqis suspected of membership in the Islamic State group, including one who is alleged to have carried out attacks that killed and wounded U.S. troops, officials said Thursday.

The men were arrested Wednesday in the western cities of Dortmund and Bottrop, and Amberg-Sulzbach county in Bavaria, the federal prosecutors' office said in a statement.

Among those arrested was Mohammed Rafea Yaseen Y., who is suspected of joining the Islamic State of Iraq group in his western hometown of Rutba in 2006. The 27-year-old Iraqi, whose surname wasn't provided due to German privacy rules, allegedly helped make improvised explosive devices and used them to carry out 12 attacks around Rutba between 2006 and 2008, prosecutors said.

U.S. troops were killed or wounded in the first 10 attacks, while Iraqi security forces and civilians were killed in the other two, according to the prosecutors' statement.

Markus Schmitt, a spokesman for the prosecutors' office, was unable immediately to provide details of the attacks. But he said Y., who was under 18 at the time of the bombings, would be tried as a minor for those attacks if the case goes to trial.

The Islamic State of Iraq, also known as al-Qaida in Iraq, changed its name to Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in 2013 and became known under the acronym ISIS, or just IS.

After that time Y. is accused of serving as an IS guard, including during two mass executions of men, women and children.

Another suspect, named only as 26-year-old Iraqi Hasan Sabbar Khazaal K., is accused of producing and distributing propaganda material for IS. This included filming executions, punishments and military operations by IS. Residents of Rutba were forced to watch the footage, federal prosecutors said.

Two other Iraqis, identified as 29-year-old Jamer Amer Jawad A.-A. and 28-year-old Muqatil Ahmed Osman A., are accused of taking part in military training with IS. The younger man is suspected of taking part in combat and performing guard duty.

All four left Iraq in mid-2015 and entered Germany soon after, prosecutors said.
