Kiinnittäkää huomio poliisin toimenpiteisiin joissa laitetta ei edes haluttu purkaa teknistä rikostutkintaa varten vaan laite läpivalaisun jälkeen räjäytettiin. Aikomusta mm itse pommintekijän kiinnisaamiseksi ei ollut. Pommin purkaminen on riskialtista, mutta joukkosurmaajan tai terroristin kiinnisaamiseksi kohtuullista riskinottoa. Saksassa poliisijohto ilmiselvästi suojeli pommin tekijää räjäyttämällä laitteen vaikkei siihen ollut perustetta kun kerran liikuttelivat ja läpivalaisivat sen.

Ei välttämättä. Jos läpivalaisussa pommi on osoittautunut rakenteeltaan sellaiseksi, että purkaminen on koettu liian riskialttiiksi, on räjäyttäminen voinut olla aivan perusteltua. Tosin sitä ennen olisi voinut ehkä harkita esimerkiksi voimakkaalla vesisuihkulla rikkomista paikassa, joka kestää kuitenkin mahdollisen räjähdyksen.

Tulee mieleen Yhdysvalloista Harvey's Resort -hotellin pommi-isku. Kiristäjä oli jättänyt ansoitetun pommin ja FBI yritti pitkällisen läpivalaisun jälkeen tehdän pommin vaarattomaksi hallitulla räjäytyksellä, millä vaurioitettaisiin pommimekanismia. FBI ei kuitenkaan läpivalaisullaan olleet tajunneet riittävän hyvin kaikkia ansoituksia ja sen seurauksena koko pommi räjähti ja vaurioitti pahasti hotellia:

The bomb was cleverly built and virtually tamper-proof. The ransom note said that the bomb could not be disarmed even by the bomb builder, but if paid $3 million he would give instructions on which combination of switches would allow the bomb to be moved and remotely detonated.[1] The FBI determined that it would take four men to move it and there was no way to know if the bomb was truly disarmed or safe to move. The FBI decided that the bomb would have to be disarmed in the hotel. All guests and their belongings were evacuated from the hotel and the gas main was shut off.[1]

After studying the bomb for more than a day through x-rays, bomb technicians decided that, although there were warnings from the bomb maker that a shock would trigger the device, the best hope of disarming it was by separating the detonators from the dynamite. The technicians thought this could be accomplished using a shaped charge of C-4. The attempt to disarm the bomb failed as the technicians did not know that dynamite had also been placed in the top box containing the detonation circuit; the shaped charge detonated the top box explosives, which caused the rest of the bomb to detonate. The bomb destroyed much of the casino, although no one was injured. Harrah's Casino (which was connected to Harvey's Resort via a tunnel) was also damaged by the explosion, which broke many of the casino's windows.[2][3]

The bomb, one of the largest the FBI had ever seen, was loaded with dynamite Birges had stolen from construction sites in Fresno. According to FBI experts, the Harvey's bomb remains the most complex improvised explosive device they have examined, and a replica of "the machine", as the extortionists called it, was still used in FBI training as of 2009.[4]

Miehet aikoivat tehdä pommi-iskun pääministerin virka-asunnon lähellä, Downing Streetillä.

Kaksi terrori-iskun suunnittelusta epäiltyä miestä joutuu keskiviikkona oikeuteen Lontoossa. Viime viikolla pidätettyjä miehiä syytetään terrorismirikoksista.

Brittiläisen Sky News -televisiokanavan (siirryt toiseen palveluun) mukaan miesten suunnitelmina oli tehdä räjähdeisku Downing Streetillä. Räjähdystä seuranneen kaaoksen aikana miehet suunnittelivat tappavansa pääministeri Theresa Mayn.

Skyn mukaan suunnitelma oli niin vakava, että Britannian sisäisen turvallisuuspalvelun MI5:n johtaja kertoi suunnitelmasta hallituksen ministereille.

Terrori-iskun suunnittelusta syytetään pohjoislontoolaista, 20-vuotiasta miestä ja Birminghamin lähistöltä kotoisin olevaa, 21-vuotiasta miestä.

MI5:n johtaja Andrew Parker kertoi tiistaina Mayn hallitukselle, että Britanniassa on maaliskuun jälkeen onnistuttu estämään yhdeksän terrori-iskua.

Kuluneen vuoden aikana Britanniassa on tehty neljä terrori-iskua, joissa on kuollut 36 ihmistä. Parkerin mukaan maan terrori-uhka on nyt korkeimmalla tasolla vuosikymmeniin.

Downing Streetillä on Britannian pääministerin virka-asunto. Vuonna 1991 Irlannin tasavaltalaisarmeija IRA teki kadulle ammusiskun. Tuolloinen pääministeri, John Major, oli silloin virka-asunnossaan, mutta ei loukkaantunut iskussa.

Record Number of UK Terror Arrests, Up 54 Per Cent in a Year

The number of arrests for terror-related offences in the UK has hit a record annual level, new statistics reveal.

In the year until the end of September 2017, a total of 400 people were held for terror-related offences in Britain, the highest number since records began in 2001 and a dramatic rise of 54 per cent compared to last year.

The figure includes 12 arrests made in connection with the Westminster attack, 23 after the Manchester bombing, 21 linked to the London Bridge attacks, and one after the Finsbury Park attack.

According to Sky News, there was also the highest ever number of female terror-related arrests, with 58 women and girls held.

There have been a number of successful Islamic fundamentalist attacks this year, including a van and knife strike at London Bridge, a suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena, and a partially-detonated bomb at Parsons Green station on the London Underground.

This Wednesday it was reported that an Islamic extremist plot to kill the Prime Minister had been thwarted, and a man was charged with sharing Islamic State themed images of Prince Geroge to encourage an attack on the Royal Family.

Security Minister Ben Wallace explained that police and security services "have been clear that we are facing a shift rather than a short-term spike in the terrorist threat".

He added: "The statistics we are publishing today demonstrate the breadth of work that they undertake, alongside the rest of the criminal justice system, day in and day out to keep us safe.

"But this is not the totality of our work. The whole of society must come together to challenge the terrorist threat.

"The public must remain alert but not alarmed and report any suspicions they have about unusual activity or behaviour to the appropriate authorities.

Instagram 'bomb threat': German police arrest Afghan asylum seeker

A 19-year-old Afghan asylum seeker has been arrested in Germany after posting a picture of a Christmas market with three bombs superimposed on it on Instagram, police say.

The picture of the market in Ravensburg, southern Germany, was uploaded on Thursday evening, prompting police quickly to boost security.

The Afghan later admitted uploading the image, saying it had been a joke.

He is to face charges of making threats to commit crime.

His accommodation was searched but investigators found nothing to suggest the threat was real, police said in a statement.

Islamic Extremist Plotting Christmas Market Attack in Austria Arrested

A 25-year-old Bosnian Islamic extremist was arrested Thursday in Graz, Austria after police discovered he was plotting to drive a vehicle through the city's Christmas market, emulating the Berlin terror attack last year.

The 25-year-old migrant, who was living at a homeless shelter in the city, is said to have wanted to rent a vehicle and run it through the Christmas market to kill and injure as many people as possible, Kronen Zeitung reports.

Police were tipped off by other residents at the homeless shelter, who said the Bosnian watched a large number of videos of terror attacks using vehicles on a shared computer. He bragged to some that he would "do it, like in Berlin".

On two separate occasions, workers at the shelter claim that he asked for advice on how to rent a vehicle. A copy of an Austrian paper featuring a cover showing the Nice terror attack was found in the Bosnian's pocked when he was arrested by police.

While there is currently no evidence that the 25-year-old worked with anyone else to plot the attack, investigators say that he regularly attended a mosque associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. Previously, he attended the now-closed Taqwa Mosque, which was shown to have links to the Islamic State.

Earlier this year, Austrian police conducted raids in Graz and Vienna and arrested 14 people, including several Islamic preachers, who authorities say were plotting to overthrow the government and install an Islamic caliphate in its place.

Briton who fought for IS jailed for 10 years

A BRITISH-BASED terrorist with links to Manchester bomber Salman Abedi was jailed for 10 years yesterday for joining Islamic State in Syria.

Mohammed Abdallah was part of a network of jihadists who mixed with Abedi before his horrific suicide attack at the city's Arena concert hall in May.

His brother Abdalraouf set up a "hub" of communication for would-be fighters from his home in Manchester.

Abdallah, 26, picked up an AK47 assault rifle and £2,000 on his way to war-torn Syria in 2014, the Old Bailey heard.

He had experience in handling heavy-duty machine guns.

The former supermarket worker was arrested when he returned to the UK in September last year.

Abdallah, of Moss Side, Manchester, denied possessing a firearm for terrorist purposes, possessing cash for terrorist purposes and being an IS member.

Documents leaked to Sky News revealed he was a registered member of the terrorist organisation.

He was found guilty of all three offences.

Abdallah came to Britain aged three when his family fled the Gaddafi regime in Libya.

He returned there in 2011 to fight pro-Gaddafi forces and from there made his way to join IS in Syria.

Jailing Abdallah, Mrs Justice McGowan said he was "totally committed to joining a proscribed organisation and did join IS."

Saksan Mannheimissa kirkkoa kohtaan tehty pommi-isku on selvinnyt.

Poliisi on ottanut kiinni tekijän kaksi kuukautta kestäneiden tutkimuksien jälkeen. Mahdollinen tekijä, 24 vuotias pakistanilainen, on pidätetty. Miestä syytetään St. Hildegardin kirkon tornissa tapahtuneesta räjähdyksestä kaksi kuukautta sitten. Poliisi ei osaa vielä ottaa kantaa teon motiiviin.

Poliisin tutkimuksen mukaan pakistanilainen mies oli rikkonut St. Hildegardin kirkon kellotornin ikkunan ja laskenut torniin ikkunan kautta kaasua. Mies oli saanut kaasun räjähtämään, ja räjähdys oli rikkonut useita ikkunoita, kertoo Mannheimer Morgen. Räjähdys oli lehden tietojen mukaan voimakas.

Tekijän jäljille päästiin lehdessä julkaistun piirustuksen kautta tulleiden yleisövihjeiden avulla. Tekijä on asunut Saksassa useita vuosia, eikä ole poliisille aikaisemmin tuttu.

Poliisin tiedotteen mukaan syy on todennäköisesti uskonnollinen tai poliittinen, koska kohteena on katolisen kirkon omaisuus ja kirkko itse.

Moskovassa on pidätetty kolme keskiaasialaista ISIS-terroristia, jotka suunnittelivat pommein, asein ja kranaatein toteutettavia iskuja joululoman ja presidentinvaalien aikaan.

ISIS Cell Preparing Holiday Attacks Using Bombs, Guns and Grenades Arrested, Moscow Police Say

Russia has arrested what it said were three members of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in Moscow, preparing suicide attacks over the holiday period, state news agency RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

The Russian Federal Security Services (FSB) announced that three people from Central Asia were in police custody but the "management of the cell was carried out by the leadership of international terrorist organisation ISIS, from abroad."

Police raided an apartment in Moscow's western outskirts that they believed the group were using as a "laboratory for explosives manufacture." The FSB confiscated two improvised explosive devices, two AK-74 rifles, a magazine of bullets, undetonated F-1 and RGD grenades and other items.

The police report said the group were suspected of targeting the winter holidays and the presidential election in March, though the FSB gave no further detail of what the plot entailed.

Authorities announced the arrests shortly after FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov said that Russia's security forces had foiled "18 terrorist attacks" in very populated places in the first half of 2017, according to RIA Novosti.

Bortnikov issued an additional warning about the danger of ISIS returnees or ISIS-inspired attackers. Of the foreign fighters who have gone to join ISIS on the battlefields in Iraq and Syria, the highest number have come from Russia. Since the group's aspirations of establishing a caliphate have suffered dramatic blows, with the group being pushed out of its former strongholds in both Syria and Iraq, goverments around the world have grown fearful that returning fighters may seek to carry out attacks on their home soil.

Tässä nimenomaisessa tapauksessa tosin ei. IRA oli siis viritellyt kranaatinheittimen lava-auton perään ja ajoi tuon auton lähelle Downing Street 10:ta. Kun sihti oli saatu kohdilleen niin kranaatinheittimeen asetettiin aikalaukaisu ja IRA-miehet poistuivat paikalta moottoripyörällä. Hetken kuluttua heitin ampui kolme kranaattia Downing Streetille, joista yksi räjähti pääministerin virka-asunnon takapihalla. Isku aiheutti neljän henkilön loukkaantumisen ja tietysti mittavia vaurioita rakennukselle ja takapihalle, mutta ei sen vakavampaa.

Teen charged with trying to help ISIS had big plans, authorities say

A Houston 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with illegally distributing explosive-making information and attempting to support the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The U.S. Justice Department said Monday that Kaan Sercan Damlarkaya, a U.S. citizen, was arrested on Dec. 8 following an undercover FBI operation. A statement says Damlarkaya said he intended to travel overseas and fight for ISIS and said he tried to get to Syria twice. He told agents he would commit a U.S. attack if efforts to travel overseas failed.

It also says Damlarkaya provided to alleged ISIS supporters a formula for explosive Triacetone Triperoxide and instructions how to use it in a pressure cooker device containing shrapnel.

According to the criminal complaint, Damlarkaya also gave instructions on how to build an AK-47 or AR-15 assault rifle from readily available parts to avoid detection from officials, reports CBS Houston affiliate KHOU-TV.

According to the station, documents say he also talked about using a machete or Samurai sword and claimed to carry a knife in case he was stopped by authorities. Damlarkaya said he slept with a machete under his pillow in case his house was ever raided.

Federal investigators said he explained that it was his "dream" to be a martyr and have the biggest explosion, KHOU reports.

In November, according to court documents, Damlarkaya said, "If I buy a gun or supplies for a bomb, they (presumably law enforcement) will heat up pressure (j)ust like a few months ago when I was trying an operation but they found out."         

If convicted, he faces a possible 20-year maximum prison term. The U.S. has designated ISIS as a terrorist organization

Birmingham couple who plotted terrorist knife attack are jailed

Madihah Taheer, 22, told Ummar Mirza, 21: 'I want you to kill for me. I have a list,' and he agreed to do so on their wedding day

A couple who used a lifelike dummy and a combat knife to plot a UK terrorist attack have been jailed.

Madihah Taheer, 22, encouraged her husband, Ummar Mirza, by telling him before they were married: "I want you to kill ppl for me. I have a list."

In messages to each other, Mirza, 21, said he wanted to stab someone 27 times, to which Taheer replied that it "sounds so satisfying".

Mirza admitted one count of preparing terrorist acts between January and March this year.

Two counts of possessing information useful to a terrorist were left on file at Woolwich crown court.

Sentencing him to 16 years in jail with an extended licence period of five years, Judge Christopher Kinch QC said: "You had moved a long way down the road of preparation of a terrorist act of the lone wolf type."

Taheer denied any involvement but was found guilty of the preparation of terrorist acts between 12 February and 30 March this year, through buying the knife. She was jailed for 10 years with an extended period of one year.

Also sentenced was Zainub Mirza, Mirza's sister, who shared Islamic State propaganda with the couple on social media. The 24-year-old, of Eastfield Road, Birmingham, earlier pleaded guilty to five counts of disseminating terrorist publications, which she had sent to her brother between 10 and 23 January this year. She was sentenced to 30 months' imprisonment.

Among the messages between the couple were several sent in September 2015, before their marriage in April 2016, in which Taheer told Mirza: "Can we get married already ffs. I want you to kill for me. I have a list."

Saksassa Berliinin poliisi on tehnyt laajan ratsian liittyen epäiltyyn terrori-iskun suunnitteluun. Paikallismedian mukaan ratsiassa on pidätetty useita ihmisiä, mutta poliisi ei ole vahvistanut tietoa.

Poliisi ratsasi yhdeksän kohdetta Berliinissä ja Sachen Anhaltin osavaltiossa. Etsintöihin osallistui yhteensä 130 poliisia, ja mukana oli myös erikoisjoukkoja.

Syyttäjän mukaan epäiltynä on neljä ihmistä, joilla epäillään olevan yhteyksiä terroristijärjestö Isisiin. Epäillyt ovat 18-21-vuotiaita.

Venäjän presidentti Vladimir Putin soitti yhdysvaltalaiselle virkaveljelleen Donald Trumpille sunnuntaina ja kiitti häntä avusta terrori-iskun estämisessä, uutistoimistot kertovat.

Yhdysvaltojen keskustiedustelupalvelu CIA:n Venäjälle kertomat tiedustelutiedot auttoivat Venäjän turvallisuuspalvelua FSB:tä hajottamaan äärijärjestö Isisin solun, joka suunnitteli terrori-iskua Pietariin, uutistoimisto AFP kertoo.

AFP:n mukaan Isisin solun tavoitteena oli tehdä itsemurhaisku 16. joulukuuta. Uutistoimisto Reuters kertoo, että hyökkäyksen kohde olisi ollut Kazanin katedraali ja että solun jäsenet on otettu kiinni.

Kazanin katedraali on Pietarin pääkirkko, joka rakennettiin 1800-luvun alussa.

Tyyppi on presidenttinä toisella puolella maapalloa ja silti pitäisi olla joko kovasti sitä vastaan tai sen puolella, ja kumpikin joukkue on sitä mieltä, että jos ei kuulu siihen, niin on sitä vastaan. Hyvin harva pystyy vaikuttamaan asiaan edes seuraavissa vaaleissa, mutta tämmöisiä seikkoja ei tarvitse ottaa huomioon ollenkaan.

Jos autismia vastaan kehitettäisiin lääke ja sitä pantaisiin suomalaisien juomaveteen, niin niistä saattaisi tulla vähän fiksumpia, mutta tuskin sen vähäisemmästä syystä.

Army Bomb Disposal Deployed as Four 'Islamist' Terror Arrests Made in England

Four men were arrested on terror charges in Northern England Tuesday morning, with reports stating the swoop by counter-terror officers was in relation to a radical Muslim plot.

Five addresses were raided across Sheffield and Chesterfield, with the bomb disposal team deployed to the Chesterfield address. Nearby homes and streets were evacuated "in the interest of public safety", said officers, with a statement reassuring bangs heard earlier in the day were doors being breached, not gunshots.

Police said the arrested men, all taken into custody under the Terrorism Act 2000 were 22, 36, 31, and 41 years old.

Police said "The arrests were intelligence led and pre planned as part of an ongoing investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and MI5."

While official police spokesmen have not given further details on the backgrounds of the men or the nature of the planned attack, Britain's ITV news reports police have today foiled "a suspected Islamist terror plot".

Man jailed for encouraging terrorism

A 23-year-old man was jailed on Monday, 18 December for terrorism offences following an investigation by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

Mijanul Haque, 23, (05.02.1994) from north London was sentenced to a total of three years' imprisonment, having been found guilty on Wednesday, 13 December at Kingston Crown Court of encouragement of terrorism and dissemination of terrorist material, with the intention of encouraging or inducing the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism. Haque also pleaded guilty to dissemination of terrorist material as being reckless to encouraging or inducing the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

Haque was stopped at Heathrow airport on 14 August, 2016 as he returned to the UK on a flight from Ghana. Officers seized his phone and found various images and material related to Daesh, including images of Deash leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

Officers also seized Haque's laptop on which a copy of Haque's mobile phone hard drive had been saved. Within the copy were Whatsapp messages in which Haque had shared Daesh propaganda videos with his contacts. He had also sent them comments with links to online material encouraging acts of terrorism.

Mosque Raided by Armed Police as Islamic Radical 'Christmas Market Bomb Plot' Foiled

An Islamic fundamentalist plot to allegedly bomb a London Christmas market has been foiled, after police raided an "Islamic community centre" and arrested a number of men, with claims one could be a Syrian migrant.

Armed police and MI5 were involved in the raids in Sheffield and Chesterfield, targeting a "bomb factory" above a chip shop and the Fatima Community Centre, also described as a mosque, where one suspect worked.

The centre is run by the Muslim Association of Britain, an affiliate of the Muslim Council of Britain which is linked with the international, pro-caliphate Islamist group the Muslim Brotherhood.

It is claimed the centre also has close links to the Emaan Trust, which is building a new mega-mosque in Sheffield.

Security sources have reportedly said the plot may have focused on Christmas markets in London and intelligence chiefs think an attack was "imminent" and "one or two bombs" were being manufactured, the Daily Mirror reports.

Saksan poliisi esti terrori-iskun luisteluradalle

Saksassa poliisi on pidättänyt 29-vuotiaan miehen epäiltynä terrori-iskun suunnittelusta luisteluradalle.

Poliisin mukaan mies on toiminut aktiivisesti äärijärjestö Isisissä. Isku oli tarkoitus toteuttaa ajamalla kuorma-auto luistelijoiden joukkoon Karlsruhessa.

Poliisin mukaan iskun suunnitelija on Saksan kansalainen, joka oli pyrkinyt töihin lähetiksi kuljetusyritykseen siinä onnistumatta.

Epäilty oli matkustanut Irakiin vuonna 2015 taistellakseen Isisin riveissä ja palannut seuraavan vuonna Saksaan. Ennen lähtöään hän oli työskennellyt Isisille Saksassa muun muassa tekemällä propagandavideoita ja levittämällä propagandaa verkkokeskusteluissa.

Aiemmin tässä kuussa Saksan turvallisuuspalvelu varoitti maassa olevan ainakin satoja yksilöitä, joilla on valmius suunnitella tai toteuttaa terrori-isku.
