Radikalisoituneet vangit suunnittelivat iskuja Ranskassa - olivat juuri vapautumassa

Vankien epäillään suunnitelleen iskuja vartijoita ja poliiseja vastaan.

Ranskassa on aloitettu virallinen tutkinta kahden, juuri vapautumassa olleen vangin iskuaikeista. Miehet istuvat tuomiotaan ei-terrorismiin liittyvistä rikoksista Pariisin eteläpuolella Fresnesissä olevassa vankilassa.

Ranskalaisen LCI-televisioaseman mukaan vankilassa radikalisoituneet miehet suunnittelivat iskuja vanginvartijoita ja poliisivoimia vastaan. Tutkintaa lähellä olevan lähteen mukaan myös muita kohteita oli suunniteltu, kertoo uutistoimisto AFP.

Miehet olivat puhelinyhteydessä Ranskan muissa vankiloissa istuvien radikalisoituneiden vankien kanssa.

Ääri-islamismi on voimistunut viime vuosina Ranskassa. Maasta on lähtenyt satoja taistelijoita Isisin riveihin, ja Isisin innoittamissa iskuissa on kuollut vuodesta 2015 lähtien yli 240 ihmistä.

Isis-terroristijärjestön solu murskattiin Marokossa - 11 terroriepäiltyä pidätetty

Marokon poliisi ilmoitti lauantaina pidättäneensä 11 terroriepäiltyä ja pysäyttäneensä Isis-järjestön terroristisolun toiminnan.

Asiasta kertoi uutistoimisto AFP.

Epäillyt terroristit operoivat Fezin, Meknesin ja Casablancan kaupungeissa.

Viranomaisten mukaan "äärimmäisen vaarallinen terrorisolu" suunnitteli useita tuhoisia hyökkäyksiä.

Pommintekoaineiden lisäksi poliisit takavarikoivat terroristien Fezin kaupungissa käyttämästä asunnosta aseita, veitsiä ja kaasukanistereita.

Vuonna 2011 Marrakechin suositulla turistialueella tehtiin pommi-isku, jossa sai surmansa 17 ihmistä, useimmat heistä eurooppalaisia turisteja.

Ranskassa pidätettiin kymmenen suunnitelmista iskeä moskeijoihin ja poliitikkoja vastaan

Lähteen mukaan epäillyt pidätettiin äärioikeistoon kohdistuneen tutkinnan osana.

Ranskan viranomaiset pidättivät tiistaina kymmenen ihmistä epäiltynä suunnitelmista iskeä moskeijoihin sekä poliitikkoja vastaan. Tutkintalähteen mukaan pidätetyt yhdeksän miestä ja yksi nainen ovat 17–25-vuotiaita. Lähteen mukaan epäillyt pidätettiin äärioikeistoon kohdistuneen tutkinnan osana.

Epäillyillä uskotaan olevan yhteyksiä kesäkuussa pidätettyyn äärioikeistolaiseen militanttiin, joka uhkasi hyökätä tummaihoisia, maahanmuuttajia, jihadisteja ja "roskaväkeä" vastaan. Toisen lähteen mukaan ryhmän kohteena olisivat olleet muun muassa hallituksen tiedottaja sekä vasemmistopoliitikko Jean-Luc Melenchon. Lisäksi epäiltyjen uskotaan suunnitelleen iskuja maahanmuuttajia vastaan.

P.S. 70-luvulla taisin koristella koulussa useampia pulpettaja naksukanoilla ja muilla häkkkyröillä, ihan korkkareiden innoittamana. Olihan ne mahtipontisia.

BERLIININ POLIISI löysi tiistai-iltana suuren määrä aseita ja ammuksia neljään eri osoitteeseen tekemissään etsinnöissä. Kyseessä oli tutkinta, joka liittyi 40-vuotiaaseen saksalaismieheen. Häntä epäillään yhteyksistä ääri-islamistisiin piireihin, kertoo uutistoimisto Reuters.

Poliisi ei kuitenkaan kertonut, liittyikö löytöihin suunnitelmaa terrori-iskusta. Syytetty joutuu oikeuden eteen tänään keskiviikkona.

Turkey arrested 49 alleged members of Daesh (ISIS) Saturday, some of whom were suspected of planning an attack on Turkey's national holiday Sunday, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

The arrests in the capital Ankara came a day before celebrations across the country for the 94th anniversary of Republic Day.

Turkish authorities issued warrants for 55 suspected foreign Daesh members, believing some were planning an attack on Republic Day, Anadolu reported without giving further details.

Turkey has been hit by several bloody attacks blamed on Daesh militants over the past two years, including a New Year attack this year on an elite Istanbul nightclub during which 39 people were killed by an Daesh gunman.

There has been a lull in attacks since, but tensions remain high and Turkish police launch raids almost daily against suspected Daesh cells across the country.

Saksassa poliisi on pidättänyt nuoren syyrialaisen miehen epäiltynä pommi-iskun pitkälle viedystä valmistelusta. 19-vuotiaan epäillään suunnitelleen Saksaan kohdistuvaa hyökkäystä "islamistisilla motiiveilla", ilmoitti syyttäjä.

Epäillyn uskotaan aikoneen surmata mahdollisimman suuren määrän ihmisiä. Hän oli syyttäjän mukaan suunnitellut käyttävänsä hyvin voimakkaita räjähteitä.

Mies otettiin kiinni Saksan koillisosassa sijaitsevassa Schwerinin kaupungissa tiistaiaamuna. Poliisi ratsasi samalla alueella useita muitakin huoneistoja.

Viranomaisilla ei ollut vielä aamupäivällä tietoa siitä, oliko epäilty jo valinnut iskulle jonkun tietyn kohteen. Käsitystä ei ollut vielä siitäkään, kuuluuko pidätetty johonkin terroristijärjestöön.

A neighbour said: "There were about 10 police cars, including unmarked cars here on Saturday from 8am until after midnight, it was a very big operation and they appeared to be searching the house, the garage the garden and car.

Un suspect recherché par la Belgique pour terrorisme a été arrêté au Maroc

Le suspect Mohamed Saouti, activement recherché par la Belgique depuis le début de l'été dans le cadre d'un dossier terrorisme, a été arrêté début octobre au Maroc, rapportent vendredi les journaux La Capitale et Het Nieuwsblad.

Il est le frère d'Akim et Khalid Saouti, arrêtés le 5 juillet dernier et inculpés de participation aux activités d'un groupe terroriste. Mohamed Saouti est lié à la découverte de caches remplies d'armes à Anderlecht et non loin de Lille (nord de la France). Deux de ses frères, Akim et Khalid, de nationalité belge, avaient été interpellés le 5 juillet dernier lors d'une opération de police commune avec les autorités françaises. Mohamed avait, lui, réussi à passer entre les mailles du filet.

Mohamed Saouti a finalement été arrêté début octobre au Maroc. La Belgique va probablement demander son extradition. Mais le suspect ne disposerait que de la nationalité marocaine, ce qui compliquerait un éventuel transfert en Belgique. Son dossier pourrait dès lors être transféré au Maroc, pour qu'il soit jugé sur place.

A suspect wanted by Belgium for terrorism has been arrested in Morocco

Mohamed Saouti, a terror suspect on the run, has been apprehended in Morocco. Police were searching him after a raid in Anderlecht, early this summer, when a weapon depot and police uniforms were discovered in a garage. Two brothers were arrested, but a third one managed to get away. Now, he has also been put behind bars.

The news was released by La Capitale, and has been confirmed to the VRT. Early July, special units of the federal police raided several houses and a couple of garages in Anderlecht, discovering a large amount of firearms. Two Saouti brothers were taken into custody, but a third one, Mohamed, managed to get away. A massive search was initiated, but proved fruitless. Until now.

The firearms and other items included several Kalashnikovs, a riot gun, handguns with ammunition, radios, bullet-proof vests, a blue rotating beacon, and uniforms of a security officer, police officers and members of the Civil Protection unit. They allegedly had plans to stage a terror attack, but the plans were not very concrete yet.

    The court was previously shown a video recorded by Khalid in which he called on secret services around the world to convert to Islam in a 20 minute rant.

    'Islam is spread by the swords. How can a religion spread without using the swords?' Khalid can be seen saying in a clip shown by Seven News.

    'I would like to forward a message to the secret services of our time – MI5, MI6, MI7, FBI, CIA, ASIO and the rest of the secret services in each one of the countries,' he said.

    'Accept Islam as your salvation because I swear to you... that a day will come when it will be too late,' he says.

    'On the day of judgement you will be saying I wish I was made out of dust. You will be put in your black hole, you will be put in your grave.'

    Khalid appeared on SBS' Insight program in 2014 on an episode called 'Joining The Fight' when he was 20 years old.

Toteutus ontui, sillä miehellä ei ollut muuta asetta, kuin jotain myrkkyä. Lisäksi paikalle osui vihainen talkkari, joka pisti miehen solmuun.

Detenido un marroquí en un colegio de Madrid: «¡Voy matar a los niños como si fueran corderos!»

Un hombre de 44 años y nacionalidad marroquí fue detenido después de entrar a un colegio de Madrid con un bote con un supuesto veneno amenazando a los niños al grito de «Alá es grande», han informado a Europa Press fuentes policiales y educativas. Los hechos ocurrieron el pasado viernes minutos después de las 9 horas en el colegio público Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, situado en la calle Adanero de Madrid.

Un hombre entró de repente en el centro y llegó hasta una clase de alumnos de 3 años. Llevaba un bote hablando en árabe señalando en un mal español que contenía supuesto veneno con el que quería matar a los niños «como si fueran corderos», según ha detallado hoy El Mundo.

Advertido por la profesora, el conserje interceptó al hombre, y entre personal y varios padres que acababan de dejar a los niños en el colegio, le retuvieron hasta la llegada de la Policía, que comprobó que el bote con supuesto veneno estaba vacío y no portaba ningún arma blanca ni de fuego.

El hombre fue detenido acusado de amenazas, llamamiento de morada y daños, ya que rompió una puertas. No se registraron daños personales. El centro presentó por su parte la correspondiente denuncia en comisaría. Tras los primeros interrogatorios, la Policía no descarta que el hombre sufra algún episodio o trastorno mental, han indicado fuentes policiales.

Police in Madrid have arrested a Moroccan man who broke into a school shouting Allahu Akbar and threatening to slaughter children 'like lambs.'

Police said the 46-year-old was carrying a bottle thought at first to contain poison, although it was later found to be empty.

He is said to have sparked panic after managing to get into a classroom where there were three-year-old children.

A caretaker held him with help from other staff before police reached the scene.

The ugly incident happened just after 9am last Friday at state school Gonzalo Fernandez de Cordoba in Madrid's popular La Latina neighbourhood, El Mundo said.

The man is understood to have been arrested for breaking and entering, criminal damage and threats.

Local reports said the suspect had no links to the school and parents were trying to put the scare behind them after the 'tremendous shock.'

A police source said: 'He was unarmed and is believed to have been suffering from mental health problems.

'No-one was injured but it was obviously a very frightening episode for the school.'

News of the incident emerged as police in the eastern city of Valencia arrested a 47-year-old man accused of belonging to terror group ISIS.

Interior Ministry officials described him as a 'powerful instigator capable of creating the ideal breeding ground for the idea of committing terrorist attacks to crystallise in the minds of new recruits.'

The illegal immigrant, who has not been named, was also said to be the main person responsible for recruiting and sending a 26-year-old Moroccan suicide bomber to Iraq in November 2014 who killed 33 Iraqi soldiers and injured dozens more in an attack a month and a half after he reached the country.

More than 250 suspected jihadists have been arrested in Spain since the start of 2015 - 206 of them since it raised its anti-terror alert level to four on a scale of five on June 26 2015.

Nine people were arrested on Tuesday morning in Ile-de-France, the Bouches-du-Rhone and the Alpes-Maritimes.

France's efforts to combat terrorism and prevent further attacks on its soil are generating so much work for investigators and law courts that further staffing will be needed to keep up, intelligence and justice officials say.

The warning comes at a time when President Emmanuel Macron is trying to curb public spending while ensuring security is not compromised, a balancing act that has already prompted an army commander to resign over budget cuts.

The workload of the anti-terrorism justice system has risen ten-fold in the past five years, ministry figures show, with a sharp increase since 2014, when followers of the Islamic State group specifically called for attacks targeting the French.

More than 240 people have been killed in the past three years in France, including 130 by a group of IS-inspired gunmen and suicide bombers in Paris in November 2015.

Statistics collected by the justice services underscore the scale of the judicial challenge.

In all of 2012, the year Islamist militant Mohammad Merah killed three Jewish schoolchildren and three soldiers near Toulouse - an attack now regarded as a turning point -- there were 10 cases of suspected terrorist activity.

In 2016, 240 new terrorism-related cases were opened, while in the first three months of 2017 a further 130 were added.

The total workload as of Oct. 9 was 621 cases, of which 452 were either early-stage or full inquiries into suspected Islamist-militant activity, according to justice officials.

The number of counter-terrorist investigators at the Paris prosecutor's office has doubled since 2012, but still stands at only 14. Alongside them, the number of so-called investigating magistrates and judges dedicated to counter-terrorism has risen to 11 from 7-8, with another beginning next year.

"We are not at breaking point, but the question now is how long it can last like that," said Pascal Gastineau, head of the French Association of Investigating Magistrates.

The workload is piling up in the courts as France cracks down on those who leave for Iraq and Syria to join IS, a number estimated at between 1,800 and 2,000.

In the past, terrorism-related convictions meant around 10 years in prison. Now many of those who finance, recruit, join or return from the wars in Syria and Iraq face 20 years in jail.

But convictions and the heavier sentences in most cases now require trial by jury of professional magistrates, a slow process that compounds the backlog.

"For affairs dating to 2016, a trial will not take place before 2018-2019," said one judge, who argues for some form of streamlining to process cases more rapidly.

Hollantilainen Laura, 22, palasi Syyriasta Isisin luota - vankeutta terrorismirikoksista

Hollantilainen oikeusistuin on tuominnut 22-vuotiaan naisen kahdeksi vuodeksi vankeuteen terrorismirikoksista. Nainen, joka tunnetaan julkisuudessa vain nimellä Laura H., matkusti Syyriaan ja liittyi Isisiin käännyttyään aiemmin muslimiksi.

Laura H., a 21-year-old Dutch woman who escaped from ISIS territory with her two children last year, never joined the terrorist organization and was not sent back to commit an attack in the Netherlands on behalf of the caliphate, she told the court in Rotterdam on Thursday, RTL Nieuws reports.

The young woman from Zoetermeer said she took her kids and fled from Syria to Kurdistan in Iraq "because I found it terrible what happened in the ISIS territory". She told the court that "I'm being treated like I'm a criminal and I'm not", and that she "never had the intention to join ISIS" and never did.

The hearing in the court of Rotterdam on Thursday was a pro-forma hearing in which the court had to decide whether or not Laura H. would be released from custody. The actual lawsuit will appear in court on a later date.

The Public Prosecutor is working on the "worst case scenario" - that ISIS sent Laura H. back to the Netherlands to commit an attack in Europe. The Prosecutor bases this on messeges between Laura and her father in which she initially glorifies ISIS actions and says that she "wants to live for Allah". As Laura has refused to make a statement to the police or magistrate, there is no way to test this belief, the Prosecutor said.

The fact that Laura H. has not participated in the investigation by giving the authorities a statement, played a big part in the court's decision to remand her back into custody. According to the court, the interest of the criminal process outweighs the accused's desire to be reunited with her children. The court also ruled that she should be examined by the Pieter Baan Center.

A 14-year-old girl has been arrested in south London on suspicion of assisting a person to carry out an act of terrorism, Scotland Yard said.

They added that she had been taken to a station for questioning.

Kristian (34) fra Verdal dømt for å ha kriget for IS

34 år gamle Kristian Michelsen fra Verdal i Nord-Trøndelag er dømt for terrordeltakelse og terrorforbund.

34 år gamle Kristian Michelsen ble i dag dømt til syv år og seks måneder i fengsel for terrorforbund og terrordeltakelse.

Michelsen reiste fra Norge til Syria i november 2014, hvor han inngikk en avtale med en eller flere personer knyttet til terrororganisasjonen IS om å begå terror.

Ifølge dommen hadde 34-åringen hensikt om å skape alvorlig frykt i den syriske befolkning, ved å reise inn i landet og ta del i IS' treningsprogram og våpentrening.
Oppvekst preget av mobbing

Michelsen ble pågrepet 30. april 2016 på den tyrkiske grensen til Syria, etter at han hadde rømt fra terrororganisasjonen.

Senere ble han deportert fra Tyrkia, og pågrepet av Politiets Sikkerhetstjeneste (PST). Trønderen er den av norske fremmedkrigere som har vært lengst i Syria og kommet levende tilbake.

Under rettssaken nektet han straffskyld, og har tidligere hevdet at han kun drev med nødhjelp i det borgerkrigsherjede landet. I vitneboksen redegjorde han for oppveksten i Verdal i Nord-Trøndelag, som tidlig var preget av mobbing, familieproblemer og rusbruk.

Michelsen er en av tre etniske konvertitter fra Trøndelag som reiste til Syria. De to andre er en mann og en kvinne. Mannen er meldt omkommet, mens kvinnens skjebne ikke er kjent.

Aarhus man gets prison sentence for making bomb in basement

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison by Denmark's High Court for making and possessing a bomb.

Somalian citizen Libaan Ahmed Warsame has also been sentenced with conditional deportation from Denmark.

He was found guilt of making and storing a bomb in the basement of an apartment building on the Peter Fabers Vej residential street in Aarhus.

The device was discovered by a resident in the building in October 2016, and the area was closed off for several areas as armed police evacuated the block and arrested Warsame.

A bomb disposal unit was also despatched to neutralise the device.

The bomb consisted of two explosive components weighing 200 grams, a fuse, detonator and a number of metal objects.

It had the potential to "cause significant damage to surrounding objects and be of great danger to nearby persons," according to the charge sheet against Warsame.

The 25-year-old's fingerprints were found on the bag in which the device was stored.

Warsame has denied the charges against him through the trial and also appealed against the initial guilty verdict at Aarhus City Court.

The verdict has now been upheld by the higher Vestre Landsret court.

Though the 25-year-old's intended purpose for the bomb remains unclear, he has been linked to gang violence in Denmark's second city.
