Ja miksi tulin ketjuun:

QuoteEscaped ISIS sex slave tells Congress of horrors

Washington (CNN)A former ISIS sex slave urged Congress Tuesday to more aggressively fight the terror group and offered her condolences for the massacre in Orlando, saying she's not surprised by it.

Nadia Murad, a Yazidi who escaped captivity in 2014, told the Senate Homeland Security committee that "the USA must act. We must terminate Daesh (ISIS) and all such terror."

"Daesh will not give up their weapons unless we force them to give up their weapons," she testified, with the assistance of a translator. "The Yazidi people cannot wait."

Murad called on the U.S. and other countries "to establish a safe and protected zone for Iraqi and Syrian religious minorities," which President Barack Obama has repeatedly rejected.

She also expressed her condolences for the attack in Orlando that left 49 dead but said she was not surprised it happened.
"I knew if ISIS were not stopped, they would deliver their crimes everywhere," she told lawmakers.

Speaking about the Middle East's Christians, Yazidis, and other minorities, she warned that "if they are not protected they will be wiped out."
Yazidis are ethnically Kurdish members of an ancient religion who live mostly in Iraq.

Murad detailed how she and thousands of Yazidi women and girls were enslaved and raped by their ISIS captors. She recounted how six of her brothers and her mother were executed by ISIS in a single day.

Murad said she escaped to Mosul where a Muslim family helped her obtain fake Islamic identification that enabled her to escape ISIS territory.

"I was freed, but I do not (have) the feeling of the freedom because those who have committed these crimes have not been held accountable," she said.

A UN report released last week estimated that ISIS holds about 3,500 slaves and that the terror group continues to subject women and children to sexual violence, particularly in the form of sexual slavery. The report said ISIS' actions "may, in some instances, amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and possibly genocide."

Secretary of State John Kerry said in March that the U.S. had determined that ISIS' brutality constituted genocide.
With the genocide designations, Murad called on the international community to take ISIS to the international criminal court.
Murad also called on the Islamic community around the world to do more to denounce ISIS.

"What has been happening has been happening under the name of Islam," she said. "The Muslims must be the first ones to resist this ... We have not seen that Daesh have been labeled as an infidel group within Islam by any Muslim country."

When asked by Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware whether the U.S. should accept more refugees from the region, Murad responded, "Every country has the right to protect itself and its borders but the people who are escaping from the religious discrimination and genocide should not face closed doors.

Turkkilaislehti Hürriyet Daily Newsin mukaan sopimus suhteiden palauttamisesta on tarkoitus allekirjoittaa ensi kuussa. Mailla on kuitenkin erimielisyyksiä koskien avustuskuljetuksia palestiinalaisalueille.

QuoteIsisin seksiorjat: Kauppaa käydään Whatsappissa - "Neitsyt. Kaunis. 12-vuotias."

- Neitsyt. Kaunis. 12-vuotias... Hänen hintansa on noussut 12 000 dollariin, ja hänet myydään pian, Telegramilla lähetetyssä ja aktivistin uutistoimistolle jakamassa mainoksessa sanotaan.

Ryhmässä, johon viesti on lähetetty, on satoja jäseniä.

Kurdistanin aluehallinto on auttanut asiassa joitakin köyhiä jesidiperheitä rahallisesti.

Avustusjärjestö Yazdan edustajan Andrew Slaterin mukaan seksiorjien vapauttaminen on muuttunut aiempaa vaikeammaksi.

- Pelastustahti hidastuu ja on loppumassa. Ihmisiltä loppuvat rahat. Tiedän kymmeniä perheitä, joilla on kymmenientuhansien velat, Slater sanoo AP:lle.

Rahanpuutteen ohella Isis on tiukentanut otettaan.

QuoteWhy Isis has just made a potentially calamitous mistake

Savage attacks in Turkey, Bangladesh, Iraq and Saudi Arabia should convince Muslim nations and the West that they share a common enemy

In the global revulsion at the past week's terror attacks in four Muslim countries, the United States and its allies have a new opportunity to build a unified command against Isis and other extremists.

But as the US seeks to broaden this counter-terrorism alliance, it should be careful about partnering with Russia — unless Moscow distances itself from a Syrian regime that many Sunni Muslims despise.

The savage attacks in Turkey, Bangladesh, Iraq and Saudi Arabia should convince Muslim nations and the West that they share a common enemy in extremist groups such as Isis.

What they need now is a shared command-and-control structure, like what the US and Britain forged in December 1941, after the shock of Pearl Harbor. Merging military and intelligence resources wasn't easy, even for longstanding partners in Washington and London. But Prime Minister Winston Churchill knew that once America had fully joined the battle, the allies' eventual victory was certain.

Similar confidence would be inspired by a command structure that truly fuses the resources of the US, Europe, Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan and the many other nations that have been targeted by Islamic State terrorists.

A sign of how unpopular these attacks are with Muslims is that Isis isn't taking credit for the attacks in Turkey and Saudi Arabia — even though it's widely seen as the likely perpetrator — and that other Islamist groups are condemning the violence, especially the bombing in the holy city of Medina.

QuoteAnalysis: Month of Terror During Ramadan Shows ISIS's New Phase

ISTANBUL, Turkey — Muslims around the world on Wednesday were celebrating Eid, the holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. But this year, the end of the month of fasting brings special relief because ISIS turned Ramadan — a time of prayer, charity and self-restraint — into a month of terror.

The terror group used Ramadan as a rallying cry for violence.

But was the wave of attacks — from Turkey to Bangladesh, Baghdad to Medina — a sign of ISIS strength or weakness? The answer may be a bit of both.

Many Iraqis believe the latest Baghdad bombing was ISIS's revenge for Iraq's much-celebrated victory in Fallujah.

The Iraqi army, backed by Shiite militias, defeated ISIS in battle and drove the militants out of one of their key strongholds, so ISIS militants responded by driving a truck bomb into the Shiite community's soft underbelly, destroying a shopping street in Karada — one of Baghdad's more upscale neighborhoods, home to many Shiites and considered relatively safe.

In Istanbul, ISIS commandos rampaged through the airport on June 28, killing 45 and scaring off tourists before the summer rush, which is vital to the local economy. The Turkish government had long turned a blind eye to ISIS, treating the militants more or less the same way it treated Syrian opposition groups that seemed to share Turkey's officially stated goal of toppling Syrian President Bashar Assad.

But Turkey has recently been cracking down on ISIS, tightening controls along the Syrian border and allowing the United States to carry out more airstrikes and surveillance missions from Turkish soil. One might say ISIS struck Turkey out of weakness, too — the attack perhaps designed to send a message to the Turkish government that ISIS will burn down the country unless things go back to the way they were.

QuoteISIS is entering its fourth phase of development:

Phase 1: ISIS insurgency. A decade ago, the group, which was then-known as al Qaeda in Iraq, was an anti-American insurgency that gained valuable military experience fighting American forces mainly in western Iraq.

Phase 2: ISIS dormancy: A U.S. troop surge, helped by an alliance with Sunni tribes, relentlessly fought the insurgents in Iraq and ultimately succeeded in driving them out of their strongholds. The group was reduced to a small core that was largely dormant, a seed waiting for water, soil and light.

Phase 3: ISIS caliphate: The chaos in the Middle East following the Arab Spring revolts and Syria's civil war allowed ISIS to regenerate. The group's expansion was rapid after it captured the Iraqi city of Mosul and seized huge stockpiles of U.S.-made, Iraqi-owned weapons and tens of millions of dollars in cash.

Phase 4: ISIS the international terrorist group: The ISIS footprint is shrinking as the group is under pressure in Iraq and Syria from a bizarre mix of adversaries who themselves are at odds with each other and include the United States, independence-seeking Kurds, Russia, the Iraqi government, the Syrian Regime, Iraqi Shiite militias, Iran and Hezbollah. ISIS is trying to stay relevant and conceal its losses by striking out with high-profile terrorist attacks, anywhere and everywhere it can. A high-profile attack in the United States would be the ultimate prize.

QuoteISIL Modifies Computer Games to Recruit Children, Young Adults

TEHRAN (FNA)- The ISIL has resorted to new methods for communication with children and young adults in order to attract and recruit them by changing computer games, media reports said.

The Takfiri terrorists modify the electronic and computer games in their own interest.

By making changes to the games that have been specially designed for over 18-year-old users, the ISIL is recruiting Arab children and young adults.

The ISIL looks at children and young adults as human shields to achieve its barbaric goals in Syria and Iraq.

In mid-June, local sources in Raqqa revealed that the ISIL forcefully takes children who are under 14-year-old from their families to recruit them as soldiers for the war against the Syrian forces.

The sources added that the ISIL has set up special institutes under the cover of religious training schools and uses them as its own base to recruit children.

According to the sources, the ISIL training has three stages of religious training to familiarize them with the terrorist group's special approach, preparing the children for hard situations by physical training and teaching them how to use weapons and spiritual training which means preparing the children for different crimes, including beheading.

They added that the ISIL has formed a full brigade of 140 children in Raqqa and intends to send them to the battleground.

QuoteISIS opens new global terror front after battlefield losses

It has been a bloody Ramadan around the world, mainly due to the provocations by the militant Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and its supporters.

The spate of attacks began on June 12, when a gunman stormed a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and killed 49 people.

On June 27, suicide bombers killed dozens of civilians in Yemen and in a Christian village in Lebanon. The next day, militants attacked Istanbul's largest airport, killing 45 people, in the deadliest terrorist strike on Turkey's largest city this year.

On Friday last week, militants laid siege to a restaurant in the diplomatic quarter of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, and began a 12-hour stand-off with security forces, killing 20 patrons, most of them foreigners.

On Sunday, a massive car bomb attack in Baghdad killed more than 200 people, in one of the deadliest attacks in the Iraqi capital since the United States invasion in 2003.

And in the last week, there were attacks carried out in Malaysia and Indonesia that were also linked to ISIS. All the attacks were inspired, loosely organised or carried out directly by ISIS and its leaders.

As the extremist group loses territory in Syria and Iraq under pressure from Western bombing and local military forces, it is trying to project strength by organising or inspiring attacks around the world.

Other villagers were kidnapped following the assault in which eight pro-government militiamen were killed trying to defend Al-Zara in Hama province, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
"During the attack, they entered houses and opened fire on families, killing at least 19 civilians, including six women," said observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman.
The observatory listed the groups involved in the attack as Ahrar al-Sham, the Nusra Front, Ahl al-Sunna battalions, the Homs Corps and Ajnad Hom.

An Ahrar al-Sham spokesman said: "Civilians were not targeted. On the contrary factions made great effort to spare civilians and deal with prisoners humanely."

In the last couple of days, young people have been coming up to me in the street and asking in an accusing way: "Oi, Boris, why did you vote for war?" And I try as ever to explain that I was not voting for war. There currently is a war that is taking place in Syria.

That bestial conflict has already claimed a quarter of a million lives. I was voting to stop the war. I was voting for peace. "Yeah," they say, "but what about the bombing? What about all the innocent people who will die? It will be their blood on your hands."

To which I respond that innocent lives are being lost now: tens of thousands of people butchered just because they are women, or disabled, or gay, or because they belong to the wrong strand of Islam. I don't want to have them on my conscience, and I don't want these sickos from Daesh/Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) to continue to exult in their so‑called caliphate, and to be allowed indefinitely to promote their terrorist campaigns.

When the House of Commons finally gave the go-ahead for air strikes last week, no one cheered; no one even hear-heared. No one is approaching this with the slightest sense of jingo or enthusiasm. We want to get on with whatever is the best and fastest way to bring peace to Syria. And since we all know that cannot be achieved by bombing alone, we need to think much more creatively about the coalition we could build.

That brings us to Vladimir Putin. I was in Paris at the end of last week, and the Russian leader's face glowered sulkily from every billboard. "Poutin", said the headline, "Notre nouvel ami". Many French people think the time has come to do a deal with their new friends the Russians – and I think that they are broadly right.

Look, I am no particular fan of Vlad. Quite the opposite. Russian-backed forces are illegally occupying parts of Ukraine. Putin's proxy army was almost certainly guilty of killing the passengers on the Malaysia Airlines jet that came down in eastern Ukraine. He has questions to answer about the death of Alexander Litvinenko, pitilessly poisoned in a London restaurant. As for his reign in Moscow, he is allegedly the linchpin of a vast post-Soviet gangster kleptocracy, and is personally said to be the richest man on the planet. Journalists who oppose him get shot. His rivals find themselves locked up. Despite looking a bit like Dobby the House Elf, he is a ruthless and manipulative tyrant.

Does that mean it is morally impossible to work with him? I am not so sure. We need to focus on what we are trying to achieve. Our aims – at least, our stated aims – are to degrade and ultimately to destroy Isil as a force in Syria and Iraq. That is what it is all about.

Our mission is to remove an evil death cult, to deprive their organisation of the charisma and renown that goes with controlling a territory of some 10 million people. We need to end their hideous administration of Raqqa, with its torchings and beheadings. We need them out of Palmyra, because if Syria is to have a future then we must protect its past.

We cannot do that without terrestrial forces. We need someone to provide the boots on the ground; and given that we are not going to be providing British ground forces – and the French and the Americans are just as reluctant – we cannot afford to be picky about our allies.

We have the estimated 70,000 of the Free Syrian Army (and many other groups and grouplets); but those numbers may be exaggerated, and they may include some jihadists who are not ideologically very different from al-Qaeda.

Who else is there? The answer is obvious. There is Assad, and his army; and the recent signs are that they are making some progress. Thanks at least partly to Russian air strikes, it looks as if the regime is taking back large parts of Homs. Al-Qaeda-affiliated militants are withdrawing from some districts of the city. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so.

With Russian air support, the Assad regime is only a few miles from Palmyra – the fabled pink-stoned city of monuments, where Isil decapitated the 82-year-old curator, Khaled Al‑Assad, before beginning an orgy of cultural destruction.

Am I backing the Assad regime, and the Russians, in their joint enterprise to recapture that amazing site? You bet I am. That does not mean I trust Putin, and it does not mean that I want to keep Assad in power indefinitely. But we cannot suck and blow at once.

At the moment, we are in danger of treating our engagement as if it were some complicated three-sided chess game, in which we are trying to neutralise the Islamists while simultaneously preventing Putin from getting too big for his boots. If we try to be too clever, we will end up achieving nothing.

This is the time to set aside our Cold War mindset. It is just not true that whatever is good for Putin must automatically be bad for the West. We both have a clear and concrete objective – to remove the threat from Isil. Everything else is secondary.

Think of all those planes above Syria – some for the Assad regime, some against the regime, some against Isil, some against the non-Isil rebels. It is absurd. The best hope of getting rid of Isil is an agreement between all the powers – America, Russia, France, Britain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the rest – to take them out, together with a timetable for Assad to step down and a plan for a new Syrian government.

Everyone in Paris last week seemed familiar with one quotation from Sir Winston Churchill. When Hitler invaded the Soviet Union, Churchill decided to qualify his lifelong hatred of communism. "If Hitler invaded Hell," said Churchill in 1941, "I would make at least a favourable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons." And as he foresaw, it was the Russians who did the most to help us win the war.

Eurostoliiton kriiseihin tällä tuskin on ainakaan positiivista vaikutusta.

Terroristijärjestö Isisin vastainen taistelu jatkuu 60 maan voimalla. Puolustusministeri Jussi Niinistö (ps.) matkustaa Washingtoniin kertomaan Yhdysvaltojen johtaman koalition jäsenille, millaisen panoksen Suomi on valmis antamaan Isisin vastaiselle työlle.

Suomi tulee julkistamaan oman määräsummansa Washingtonin kokouksessa.

Pahinta Suomessa on tämän köyhyyden lisäksi henkinen köyhyys. Meiltä puuttuu horisontti, mihin katsoa ja mitä tavoitella.

Suomelle asetettu vaatimus aseavun antamisesta on todellisuudessa poliittinen ansa, johon J. Niinistö vähääkään ajattelematta astuu.

Aloite on mahdollisesti tullut jopa täältä päin, jotta Niinistö pääsee toteuttamaan fantasiaansa sota-ajan johtajuudesta, Jabba saa merentakaisilta ystäviltään vähän lisää taputusta selkäänsä jne. Puolustusministeriö on täynnä porukkaa, jotka haluavat mahdollisimman suurta taakanjako arvoyhteisö-integraatiota, jotta pääsevät kivoihin kansainvälisiin hommiin jne.

Mutta se on todellakin totta, Suomen osuus kaaoksen hallinnassa josta emme ole vastuussa on marginaalinen, sen sijaan tämä on yksi monista pienistä askelista joiden kautta Suomi sitoutetaan transatlantiseen valtablokkiin, eivätkä tulevat operaatiot ja niihin liittyvä taakanjako joko tänne tulevien matujen kustannuksissa tai ulkomailla operaatioihin käytettävän rahan muodossa tule todellakaan jäämään tähän kun on alkuun päästy.

Lähes sata sotiemme veteraania ei päässyt hakemaansa kuntoutukseen Etelä-Karjalassa viime vuonna.

Syynä on valtion määrärahan niukkuus.

Tukirahat ovat vähissä muutenkin, kertoo veteraanineuvoja Sanna Nurmiainen Eksotelta.

Kotiin annettavia tukipalveluita ei voida myöntää rahapulan takia läheskään kaikille tarvitsijoille. Jonossa on tälläkin hetkellä liki 50 veteraania.

Tilanne harmittaa veteraanineuvojaa. Hänestä palvelu pitäisi myöntää veteraanin tarpeen, eikä määrärahan riittävyyden mukaan....naps....
