Jo vuosia ja vuosia sitten eräässä brittien tekemässä tv-dokumentissa esiteltiin koko ongelman laajuus. Matusia asustelee puistoissa, pahvilaatikoissa, purkutaloissa, kellareissa, viemäreissä, oloissa missä edes rotat eivät viihdy. Laittoman palkkaaminen töihin ja siitä kiinnijääminen merkitsee 10000£ sakkoja työnantajalle. Viranomaiset ovat avoimesti nuivia. Siltikään toimenpiteet eivät yllä sille tasolle mille pitäisi.

En vain koskaan ajatellut palautusasteen olevan noin pieni.

Kaikissa loppupeleissä päätöksen tekee ao. valtio. Ei ole mitään direktiiviä tai loukkua minkä perusteella kakkaväkeä pitää ottaa. Jokainen EU-jäsenmaa (ja EU:sta eronnut maa) tekee oman päätöksen ottaako vastaan kakkaväkeä vai ei. Niin vaikea yhtälö oikeasti on.

Ainoan poikkeuksen muodostaa tilanne missä ns. ei-turvallisesta maasta käsin joku mamudi päättää loikata johonkin EU-maahan. Tällaisessa tilanteessakaan jonkun maan ei tarvitse ottaa kakkaväkeä ellei halua. Tuolloin EU voi alkaa yskähtelemään. Tällöinkin yksittäinen EU-maa voi kertoa EU:lle että "vetäkää vittu päähän". Sen jälkeen EU ei voi tehdä muuta kuin erottaa ao. valtio. Ja sitä EU ei tee.

Vähään aikaan ei ole näkynyt uutisia näistä Englannin kanaalin yli pyrkivistä matuista, mutta tänään brittiviranomaiset ottivat sitten kiinni 28 henkilöä kahdesta veneestä.

Border Force officers detained 28 migrants today after they intercepted two small boats trying to cross the English Channel to the UK - the first since heavy storms battered the country.

A number of migrants were seen being brought in to Dover Harbour on an HM Border Force cutter today.

Officers were pictured in white forensic-style suits with Border Force vests over the top.

In the first incident a group of 14 people, all men, were taken on board the CPV Alert and in the second incident the cutter Seeker picked up a further 14 people - 13 men and one woman.

All 28 people were taken to Dover Harbour where they have been medically assessed and transferred to immigration officials for interview.

A surge of migrants attempted to cross the English Channel on Wednesday, despite the state of national lockdown.

A total of 169 people were intercepted by UK and French authorities as they made the journey.

The Home Office has denied that the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting its ability to respond to migrant crossings and insisted it still has the resources it needs.

In one of the busiest days for migrant crossings, Border Force dealt with six incidents in the Channel.

A total of 95 people were taken to Dover, including nine who identified themselves as children.

At least 52 migrants, including five children, risked their lives to cross the Channel on Thursday.

They were intercepted by Border Force travelling across the Dover straits in four inflatable boats, the Home Office confirmed late on Thursday.

It comes as two cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Calais migrant community and another in a refugee camp in Dunkirk.

Border Force stop more migrants at Dover for the fifth consecutive day as this week's total reaches 130 but NONE are being tested for coronavirus

Border Force officers have stopped migrants crossing the Channel for a fifth consecutive day as the MailOnline can reveal none of the 130 who have been brought into Dover this week have been tested for coronavirus.

It comes after 63 migrants crammed in four small boats were stopped on Tuesday, bringing the total number stopped this week alone to more than 130 and this year to more than 630.

It also comes as latest figures show there have been 55,242 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, while 6,159 people have died.

But the MailOnline can confirm that none of the migrants stopped since the outbreak of coronavirus have been tested.

That is despite reports that some of those living in migrant camps in France have been infected with the deadly virus.   

The Home Office say that rather than test asylum seekers, they will instead be examined by nurses and doctors for any symptoms of Covid-19.

On Tuesday, a group of 18 Iranian, Iraqi and Kuwaiti men were picked up in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB).

Another RHIB carrying 13 men and two women - who presented themselves as Iraqi and Iranian nationals - also arrived around the same time.

At 5.15am a Border Force vessel intercepted an inflatable boat with 14 men who said they were Iranian and Iraqi.

An hour later another RHIB with 14 men and two women was picked up. The group said they were Yemeni, Syrian, Iraqi and Iranian.   

On Monday, seven migrants from Sudan and Chad were taken in by a Border Force coastal patrol vessel at 4.55am.

They came after 53 refugees arrived on Saturday and a further 12 on Sunday.

More than 70 migrants stopped by police in Hastings

Border Force and partner agencies dealt with with a number of incidents yesterday after being alerted to small boats in the Channel travelling towards the UK.

At about 6.31am a boat carrying 12 men, followed by another with ten men and eight women. At 9.46am 13 men were stopped.

The largest group were stopped at about 12.10pm as it was approaching Hastings and comprised of 25 men and four women.

The people presented as Iraqi, Iranian and Syrian nationals.

Tony Eastaugh, Home Office director for crime and enforcement, said: "Those facilitating these illegal crossings and the criminals behind this trade are breaking the law. If someone facilitates an illegal crossing, we will enforce the law and seek to return those with no right to be in the UK.

Five dinghies carrying 76 migrants have been intercepted in the Channel by Border Force.

English Channel search operation after migrant crossings

The UK coastguard is coordinating a search-and-rescue operation after several boats of migrants crossing from France were spotted in the Channel.

Two Border Force vessels, the Dover lifeboat and a Coastguard aircraft are working alongside French authorities.

It is thought up to 200 migrants tried to cross the Channel on Sunday.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said the number of crossings were rising despite the efforts of the UK and France and "simply cannot be allowed to go on".

France and Britain agree to form joint unit to fight migrant traffickers

The interior ministers of France and Britain on Sunday signed an agreement creating a new joint police intelligence unit to combat migrant traffickers and reduce the "unsustainable" numbers crossing the Channel illegally.

France's new Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin and his British counterpart Priti Patel met on Sunday in Calais in northern France, a regio where migrants have traditionally gathered in a bid to find a way to get to Britain.

"We signed a new agreement to create a joint intelligence cell which will crack down on gangs behind vile people smuggling operation," Patel wrote on Twitter after the meeting.

She said they had discussed "the unsustainable levels of illegal migration across the Channel."

The Franco-British unit will allow services to share intelligence quickly and will consist of six British and six French police officers based in Coquelles outside Calais, Darmanin told reporters.

Traffickers "are those who take advantage of the human distress of people who want to cross the English Channel and who, no doubt, are not being punished sufficiently at the moment," said Darmanin.

Channel crossing attempts have increased over the last year despite the danger of heavy maritime traffic, strong currents and low water temperatures.

Migration Watch UK has issued a report that predicts that the number of illegal boat migrants entering the United Kingdom will be more than 7,500 by the end of the year, as Home Secretary Priti Patel backs away from her pledge to make illegal migration an "infrequent phenomenon".

Illegal boat migration across the English Channel has increased in the first six months of 2020, with at least 2,400 migrants successfully reaching British shores since the beginning of the year, four times the 600 migrants that came during the same period in 2019.

The London-based think tank Migration Watch UK said in a report that if this trend continues, by Christmas nearly 7,600 illegal migrants will have entered the country, compared to the 1,900 that came in 2019. The migration pressure group also noted that the figures only reflect those boat migrants that were actually detected by migration officials, meaning that in reality, the numbers are likely higher.

On Monday, Home Secretary Priti Patel told the Press Association that there were "far too many crossings".

When asked if there was a new timetable to reduce illegal crossings to an "infrequent phenomenon," Patel said: "No. The fact of the matter is, I've said from day one this is a complicated issue. Illegal migration has been a feature of every single Government."

Downing Street defends response to migrants as 380 attempt to cross Channel

At least 180 migrants were able to cross the English Channel to the UK on Sunday - a new single-day record.

They were among more than 380 migrants who attempted the crossing, the Home Office confirmed on Monday morning.

More than 200 migrants were intercepted by the French and prevented from reaching the UK.

A spokesperson for the Home Office said there were fifteen seperate incidents on Sunday when officers intercepted boats attempting the crossing from France.

Sisäministeri Priti Patel syyttää ranskalaisviranomaisia siitä, että nämä eivät pysäytä läpsyveneitä, jotka ovat päässeet vähän yli 200 metrin päähän Ranskan rannikolta.

Home Secretary Priti Patel has slammed France for refusing to stop migrant boats just 250 yards off the French coast, as 90 more asylum seekers arrived in the UK today.

An RNLI lifeboat is believed to have rescued people on one boat while the Border Force vessel Speedwell dealt with others in a number of small boat incidents.

There is a 'major, major problem with these small boats', Ms Patel said, adding that the only way to make that route to the UK 'unviable' was to intercept the boats at sea and turn them back to France.

She told MPs: 'We are fundamentally looking at changing ways of working with France. I've had some very, very, I think it's fair to say, difficult discussions with my French counterpart, even looking at interceptions at sea, because currently the French authorities are not intercepting boats at sea.

'And by that I mean boats that are just 250 yards away from the French coast.

'I feel there could be stronger enforcement measures on the French side and they have heard that from me.

'We want to break this route, we want to make this route unviable, and in my view the only way we can do this is by intercepting and returning the boats back to France.'

Asked by the committee if French authorities have powers to intercept boats in French waters, because officials there claimed they do not, she said: 'That's absolutely right and that is what we are working to achieve, right down to sharing legal advice, legal guidance in terms of maritime laws.

'A lot of this is governed by maritime laws and the French authorities' interpretations of what they can and can't do at sea.

'It is our advice that they can go ahead and do that. That has been part of the discussions that we have been having with the French authorities throughout the entire coronavirus crisis.'

Asked whether the 'disagreement' over maritime laws is the basis of the problem as well as the terms of the Cherbourg agreement - which the committee heard is an informal agreement to intercept crossings at sea and repatriate boats back to France - she replied: 'That is absolutely right.'

Channel migrants: Nine boats arrive with 125 men and women on board

Nine boats carrying 125 migrants have been intercepted on their way to the UK as searches continue for more vessels.

The Home Office said Border Force dealt with several incidents on Friday after being alerted to small boats in the Channel.

Meanwhile, French authorities picked up three migrants in a kayak plus another 15 in a broken down boat and returned them to France.

No nationality details were available at this stage, the Home Office said.

Vessels continued to arrive throughout the night and well into the next day, each with between eight and 19 people on board.

The coastguard said it had also been dealing with several incidents on Saturday morning and was coordinating a search and rescue response.

Sitähän tuo Iso-Britannian sisäministerikin tuossa yllä olevassa (^^^) uutisessa käytännössä sanoo... vähän kun pääsee rannasta irtautumaan, niin ranskikset eivät pysäytä. Ja ranskalaiset mussuttavat, ettei olisi muka oikeutta siihen.

Kaikki naurettavat turvapaikkahuijareita koskevat "kansainväliset sopimukset" voitaisiin heittää romukoppaan varsinkin tässä tilanteessa, kun turvallisessa maassa (useimmiten) laittomasti olevat pyrkivät laittomasti toiseen turvalliseen maahan.

Ei noilla pitäisi olla mitään oikeuksia. Takaisin paskastaneihin vaan.

Ei tarttis mitään "kansainvälisiä sopimuksiakaan" heittää roskiin. Kyllä geelitukat saisi kiinni, jos halua vaan olisi.

Sehän on selvää, että mitään papereitahan niillä ei ole, ja ovat muutenkin lähtökohtaisesti laittomasti Ranskassa. Jo niillä perusteilla voisi pysäyttää veneen ja pidättää joka iikan. Ja jos haluaisi oikein hankalaksi heittäytyä, niin väittää siinä paikan päällä, että ovat TULOSSA Ranskaan. Eli tunkeutuneet Ranskan aluevesille. Paperitta, passitta, viisumitta. Todistakoot geelipäät muuta. Häkkiin vaan. Vesireittihän ulottuu maailman ääriin, joten mitään sisärajamussutusta ei olisi pakko kuunnella.

Mutta kun sitä halua (pysäyttämiseen) ei ole. Enpä voi toisaalta ranskalaisia syyttääkään: kyllähän jokainen vähääkään järkevä valtio haluaa päästä tuosta biomassasta eroon mitä pikimmin. Keinolla millä hyvänsä.

Channel migrants: 13 boats carrying 159 people intercepted

Thirteen boats carrying more than 150 migrants were intercepted while attempting to cross the Channel in a six-hour period.

The Home Office said there were 159 people on board the small boats which were intercepted on Tuesday.

Pictures show Border Force officers lifting children out of boats at the Port of Dover.

More than 3,000 migrants have reached the UK in about 230 small boats this year, according to BBC research.

A Home Office spokesman said: "Of the 159 people who arrived, 136 were male and 23 female."

This is the horrifying moment two migrants trying to get to the UK clambered out of the roof box of a British car after being taken 100 miles in the wrong direction further into France.

The teenagers, believed to be from Eritrea and Guinea, had broken into the box and dumped most of its contents in Calais believing the BMW 4x4 was heading over the Channel.

But the family, from the Midlands, had actually stopped for the night on their way to the French Atlantic coast near Nantes for their summer holidays and got a shock when they pulled over in a service station.
