Voisitko @Kari Kinnunen kertoa ammattimiehenä jotakin arviota, voisiko olla mahdollista, että tuo kuski ei edes tiedä koko ihmislastista mitään vai pitääkö sen olla mukana juonessa? Siis voiko olla niin, että nuo ovat olleet viikkotolkulla tuolla ja veturi on vaihtunut monta kertaa? Siis puhun tuosta Essexin tapauksesta.

Onhan se mahdollista. Ns. irtoperä (hiljaa pojat siellä takana) liikenteessä on tapauksia jolloin veturi vain hinaa vaunun paikasta toiseen. Yleensä kuitenkin vaunu haetaan satamasta purettavaksi, taikka käydään lastaamassa ja viedään satamaan.

Tähän tapaukseen en ole perehtynyt. Mutta ymmärsin, että koko yhdistelmä on liikkunut lautoilla? Irtoperä hommaa käytetään juurikin vain siksi, että ei tarvitse maksaa veturia lauttaan.

Ehkä eurooopalainen linja ihmissalakuljetuksen vastaisessa kamppailussa on valittu juurikin tämä tiedostaen.

Kuten tuossa kävi ilmi, niin ihmissalakuljetuksen kitkeminen on vaikeaa ja haastavaa. Sehän liittyy siihen, että on olemassa ihmisiä, jotka ovat haavoittuvassa asemassa ja jotka haluaa tulla esimerkiksi Eurooppaan, Isoon-Britanniaan, ja heillä ei ole mitään muita keinoja kuin turvautua näiden salakuljettajien apuun tai toimiin. Ja paradoksaalisesti kyllä, mitä enemmän yritetään tiukentaa rajavalvontaa, sitä enemmän salakuljetusta todennäköisesti syntyy... Mikä ei tietenkään tarkoita sitä, etteikö siihen pitäisi puuttua ja yrittää kitkeä ja torjua ja vastuullisia sitten saattaa rangaistuksen piiriin.

Ristiriidan ja traagiset kuolemat mahdollistaa se, että länsimaat käytännössä hyväksyvät laittoman siirtolaisuuden ja turvapaikkajärjestelmän väärinkäytön. Jos kaikki ilman viisumia tavatut palautettaisiin poikkeuksetta Euroopan ulkopuolelle elinikäinen Schengen-panna taskussa, myös rajavalvontatoimet toimisivat, kuten on tarkoitus, eikä olisi ihmissalakuljetusta tai hukkumisia ja konttiin tukehtumisia. Tähän vielä päälle todella tuntuvat rangaistukset ihmissalakuljettajille ja laittomia siirtolaisia työllistäville, niin poistettaisiin viimeinenkin taloudellinen hyöty yhtälöstä.

Nythän esimerkiksi Calais'n tuhansien laittomien siirtolaisten Isoon-Britanniaan tunkeutumista seurataan kuin urheilukisoja, vaikka kaikki osapuolet tietävät, ettei yrittäjillä ole sen enempää perustetta kuin oikeuttakaan oleilla Ranskassa tai Euroopassa.

@Kari Kinnunen siis kyseessä oli Belgian Zeebruggesta lähtenyt puoliperä kylmäkuljetus. Kuski on 25 vuotias pohjoisirkkulainen Mo Robinson, stetsonikuvakin on julkaistu brittimediassa. Saapui Purfleetin satamaan ja siitä aika lähellä on se paikka, missä nuo sitten huomattiin.

Ihmettelen vaan sitä, että se on pysäytetty keskelle tietä tuolla satama/teollisuusalueella, siis kesken ajon. Jos kuski ei tiedä mitään, lastia puretaan ja seasta löytyy matuja, niin ei siinä kuski lähde ajamaan vaan silloin soitetaan poliisi paikalle. Joten vaikuttaisi siltä, että kuski tietää matujen olleen kyydissä, joku muu on kuolleet matut huomannut, kuski yrittänyt paniikissa ottaa hatkat ja auto pysäytetty.

BBC: Essex lorry deaths: 39 found dead 'were Chinese nationals'

The 39 people found dead in a refrigerated trailer in Essex were Chinese nationals, it is understood.

Police are continuing to question lorry driver Mo Robinson, 25, who was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers in Northern Ireland have raided two houses and the National Crime Agency said it was working to identify "organised crime groups who may have played a part".

The trailer arrived in Purfleet on the River Thames from Zeebrugge in Belgium.

Ambulance staff discovered the bodies of the 38 adults and one teenager in the container at Waterglade Industrial Park in Grays just after 01:30 BST on Wednesday.

The lorry and trailer left the port at Purfleet shortly after 01:05.

Police said the tractor unit - the front part of the lorry - came from Northern Ireland and picked up the trailer from Purfleet.

More Vietnamese feared among 39 UK truck victims

More Vietnamese citizens are feared among 39 people found dead in a refrigerated truck in Britain this week, families and community organisers said Saturday, after the tragedy laid bare the risks of illegal migrant routes to Europe.

British police initially said all 31 men and eight women found in a lorry in an industrial park in Essex this week were believed to be Chinese.

But several Vietnamese families have come forward saying their relatives went missing on route to Britain, a prime destination for Vietnamese migrants seeking better lives abroad.

All of the families come from impoverished and remote corners of central Vietnam, a hotspot for migrants embarking on dangerous journeys and lured by promises of earning quick riches overseas.

Many are smuggled illegally through Russia or China, often indebted tens of thousands of dollars and carrying falsified documents, and end up working off the books on cannabis farms or in nail salons.

Five people have been arrested in the UK in connection with the tragedy, which sparked the largest murder probe in Britain in almost 15 years.

Several families told AFP Saturday they feared their relatives were among the dead.

Police probe 'wider conspiracy' over death truck as it emerges it was in convoy of THREE and families say more than 100 migrants were smuggled into UK but only two completed journey - as tearful wife fears husband was among 39 found dead in Essex

A container in which 39 migrants were found dead was part of a convoy of three lorries, it has been claimed - as police probe 'whether there is a wider conspiracy involved' in the deaths.   

Relatives of the suspected victims say more than 100 migrants were being brought to the UK on the lorries, but only two are believed to have completed their trips.

Devastated relatives have been speaking out, including the tearful wife of one suspected victim who helped him raise £11,000 for the trip to the UK as two new suspected victims were named today.

It comes as this afternoon a man who is understood to be sought by Essex Police as part of the investigation into the 39 lorry trailer deaths was arrested at Dublin port.   

The man, in his twenties and from Northern Ireland, was arrested after getting off a ferry on Saturday afternoon. A blue Scania truck that he was driving has been impounded by the police.

Joanna Maher, 38, and her haulage boss husband Thomas, also 38, from Warrington, - the last known owners of the lorry carrying 39 migrants - were also arrested yesterday in a dawn raid.

They have been held on suspicion of conspiracy to traffic people and on suspicion of 39 counts of manslaughter.

Commenting on reports the lorry could have been part of a convoy of three carrying around 100 people, Mr Pasmore said investigators remain 'open-minded'.

'There are lines of inquiry that are set of course to establish whether or not there are wider conspiracies involved in this and the lines of inquiry are set to identify the wider conspiracy, but I can say no more than that,' he said.

He added that the force was focusing its attention on the Vietnamese community and appealed for those within it with any information to come forward, regardless of their immigration status.

Two Romanian lorry drivers were arrested at the port of Calais this morning after the discovery of the migrants by British border force guards

Eight hypothermic Afghans were rescued from the back of a UK-bound refrigerated lorry this morning.

Half of the group were children with two described as 'tiny infants' by an investigating source.

Two Romanian truckers have been arrested after the discovery of the migrants in Calais at roughly 5am.

The arrests were made as the men attempted to drive on to a ferry heading to England.

The arrests come after 39 bodies were found in a back of a similar refrigerated truck in the UK, and the driver was charged with multiple counts of manslaughter.

Commenting on the new incident in northern France, an investigating source said: "The Afghans in the back of the truck were suffering from mild hypothermia.

"It would have got far worse if they had remained in place, but they were taken to hospital in Calais for immediate treatment.

"The drivers are suspected of trying to smuggle the people to England. They are both of Romanian nationality, and are now in custody, and facing charges.

Ranskan sisäministeri Christophe Castaner sanoi keskiviikkona, että kaikki itäisessä Pariisissa sijaitsevat epäviralliset pakolaisleirit on määrä tyhjentää asukeistaan tämän vuoden loppuun mennessä.

Macron on varoittanut, että ellei hallitus ota tiukempaa linjaa maahanmuuttoasioissa, on uhkana, että äänestäjät siirtyvät tukemaan äärioikeistoa.

Äänestäjän pelko on politiikolle viisauden alku.

On, mutta onhan tuo ihan helvetin koomista, että uhkana ei nähdä perseilevien matujen perseilyä (joka siis faktisesti tuottaa ruumiitakin jatkuvalla syötöllä) ja sen perseilyn jatkumista ja pahentumista. Vaan uhka on nimenomaan se, että perseily aiheuttaa äänestäjäkatoa vasemmistolle.

Eli jos sitä "äärioikeistoa" ei olisi, niin matut saisivat jatkaa perseilyään ihan rauhassa entiseen malliin. Aivan kuten Hölmölässäkin.

Elämme todella kummallisessa maailmassa.

Man arrested after 15 immigrants found alive in back of truck in England

Fifteen immigrants were rescued from the back of a truck in England after someone called police to report suspicious activity in the area, a report said.

Authorities in the southwestern town of Wiltshire closed in on the truck at about 8:30 p.m. local time and rescued the migrants, the Guardian reported.

Police took a 50-year-old man into custody at the scene. He's accused of assisting with illegal entry, according to the report.

All of the people rescued from the truck were in stable condition Wednesday night, the report said. One of them was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

39 migrants found off Kent coast crossing the Channel

Dozens of migrants have been found off the coast attempting to cross the Channel in inflatable boats, KentOnline understands.

Border Force officials were called to four incidents in less than three hours as 39 Iranian nationals attempted to travel towards the UK.

They were first alerted to a boat carrying nine people at about 4.40am.

An hour and 20 minutes later, Border Force officers intercepted a second vessel carrying five more.

A third boat with 11 Iranians on board was found about 7am.

And just 30 minutes afterwards, 14 more migrants were found.

All of them identified themselves as Iranian and were taken to Dover to be medically assessed before being interviewed by immigration officials.

Britanniaan matkalla olleesta rahtialuksesta löytyi kylmäkontti täynnä siirtolaisia

Viranomaisten mukaan kaksi ihmistä vietiin sairaalaan, muiden tila tarkistettiin paikan päällä.

Viranomaiset löysivät 25 siirtolaista Hollannista Britanniaan matkalla olleesta rahtialuksesta. Siirtolaiset löytyivät kylmäkontista, joka oli lastattu rahtialuksen kyytiin, Reuters uutisoi.

Tanskalaisen DFDS:n omistama Britannia Seawaysin rahtilautta oli lähtenyt matkaan Hollannin Vlaardingenin satamasta. Se oli matkalla Felixstowen satamaan Etelä-Englannissa, mutta palasi takaisin Hollantiin.

Kaksi siirtolaista vietiin sairaalaan saamaan hoitoa. Loput 23 tarkistettiin paikan päällä satamassa ennen kuin poliisi vei heidät.

Iso-Britanniassa Bramptonissa kylmäkuljetukseen piiloutuneet matut kiinnittävät liikenneruuhkassa huomiota heittelemällä appelsiineja rekasta, koska nämä olivat kovin kylmissään. Viranomaiset hälytettiin paikalle.

Migrants throw oranges from cold lorry in bid to be rescued

igrants were discovered by police in the back of a refrigerated lorry after they threw oranges out of a hole in a bid to be rescued.

Motorists in a traffic jam called police on Tuesday after spotting the fruit being tossed from the side of the lorry on the westbound A14 at Brampton, Cambridgeshire.

It's understood those inside the lorry were getting cold, amid allegations they may have been smuggled into the UK.

An air ambulance was called to the scene and landed on the dual carriageway. Cambridgeshire Police said three people ended up being taken by land ambulances to the nearby Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon, but none were found to be seriously hurt.

A police spokesman said a man who was driving the lorry was arrested on suspicion of assisting unlawful immigration. He has since been released under investigation.

Missä kyllä erehdytään rankasti. Lämpökamera reagoi voimakkaasti nimenomaan lämpötilaeroihin ja mitä suurempi lämpötilaero ympäristön kanssa, sitä kirkkaammin puntiksella olija tulee näkyviin.

Border Force intercepts two small boats carrying 13 migrants including a child off the Kent coast

Several migrants have been picked up by the Border Force off the Kent coast today, including a child.

The Home Office confirmed that 13 males were picked up in total - 12 Iranian nationals and one Albanian.

All 13 were taken to Dover, where they were medically assessed before being interviewed by immigration officials.

The child was moved to social services. 

Border Force was alerted to two small boats travelling across the Channel towards the UK this morning.

The first boat, arriving at 8am contained eight men in an RHIB, who said they were Iranian nationals.

An hour later, around 9am, a second boat was intercepted by a Border Force coastal patrol vessel.

Record 79 migrants found in a day, some at Kingsdown, Deal: Dover RNLI involved

Nearly 80 migrants were picked in in five small boat incidents today.

The total was 79, the highest number of people in a day since cases crossings by small craft have been reported over the last year.

The previous record was 74 in June.

These instances prompted a massive air and sea operation involving Border Force, Kent Police, HM Coastguards and the RNLI with a lifeboat launched from Dover.

In the first case, at around 2:50am, a Border Force vessel intercepted a RHIB (rigid-hulled inflatable boat), which was carrying a group of 8 people.

These were seven men and one child. They presented themselves as Iranian and Afghan nationals.

At 5.30am a Border Force vessel stopped a boat with 20 people.

A spokesman said: "Crossing the Channel in a small boat is incredibly dangerous. Anyone attempting the journey is taking a huge risk with their life and the lives of their children.

"The government continues to work with European partners to tackle illegal migration."

Cases of migrants trying to reach the Kent coast by small craft have continually happened since last year.

Incidents have also occurred on or off the coasts of Folkestone, Hythe, Romney Marsh and Thanet.

69 migrants found crossing the English Channel brought to Dover

An MP is demanding action after 69 migrants in small boats were intercepted trying to cross the English Channel this morning.

They were picked up and brought ashore to Dover in five separate incidents between 12.45am and 7.45am.

A Border Force vessel intercepted first a boat carrying eight men, who presented themselves as Iranians, at around 12.45am.

Then at around 3.35am another boat carrying 18 people - 14 men, two women, and two minors - was stopped.

The nationalities of those involved has yet to be established.

In the third incident, at around 5.10am, a Border Force vessel came across a boat carrying nine people - made up of seven men and two minors - all said to be Iranian.

Then at around 5.30am a boat which had 23 people on board - 14 men, five women, and four minors - was stopped.

They identified themselves as Iranian, Iraqi, and Uzbek nationals.

Almost 50 migrants intercepted off UK coast by Border Force

A child is among 49 suspected migrants being processed by border officials in Dover after a rescue operation in the English Channel.

Four boats travelling across the Channel were intercepted by the UK Border Force on Boxing Day.

The Home Office said authorities were alerted to several small vessels heading towards the UK coast at around 1.30am on Thursday.

Two cutters and a coastal patrol vessel were deployed to intercept the craft and rescue the group made up of men, women and one child.

The group presented themselves as Iranian, Iraqi and Afghan and will be medically assessed and transferred to immigration officials for interview.

The Home Office said further migrant activity was intercepted by the French authorities, with two other small boats taken back to France.

Bridget Chapman from Kent Refugee Action Network said she thinks Brexit could be causing people traffickers to force people to cross the channel at this time of year.

Border Force cutters patrolling the Channel are attracting migrants, former immigration chief says

A former immigration chief has accused Border Force cutters patrolling the Channel of attracting migrants rather than deterring them.

David Wood, ex head of immigration enforcement at the Home Office, said patrols introduced by the then Home Secretary Sajid Javid are to blame for a massive rise in those crossing the Channel.

It is thought that more than 1,700 people reached the UK via the Channel this year, compared to just 297 last year.

"Look at it from the migrants' point of view — they are getting here," said Mr Wood told the Times. "The more Border Force cutters there are in the Channel the more attractive it is for those setting sail in small boats. They know they will be picked up and taken to the UK. For them that is mission accomplished."

According to Mr Wood, migrants are "briefed" on what to do when they are caught by patrolls, including saying they are from "Iran or Afghanistan" so they "will never get removed from the UK".

The ex-immigration chief believes that sending the migrants back to France instantly - rather than taking them to British soil - would serve as the best deterrent and "help close down" people smuggling operations.

BABY AMONG 21 PEOPLE RESCUED FROM ENGLISH CHANNEL

A fisherman from Urk in Flevoland saved 21 people attempting to cross the English Channel on Sunday night. Among them were a six-week-old baby, and two toddlers, according to several Dutch media reports, though one French authority said a total of 19 migrants were rescued, including 16 men, one woman, and two children.

All were "safe and sound, though some of those rescued at sea were suffering from hypothermia, said the Premar Manche, the French administrative region covering the Channel. The Dutch fisherman involved said the migrants would never have made the remaining 60 kilometers across the Channel to the United Kingdom.

"I saw the despair in their eyes. If we had arrived half an hour later, the boat would have sunk," said Dutch sea captain Tiemen Wezelman. He said the tiny boat was reported in distress as his crew aboard the Z182 Hennie fishing ship was headed back to Oostende, Belgium to offload their catch.

"There were about 21 people in need and we were the closest, so we went for it," Wezelman told RTL Nieuws. They made their way through dark, shallow seas until they spotted the flashlights active on the phones of some migrants stuck on their boat.

Border Force confirmed a RHIB carrying 12 men identifying themselves as Iranians was intercepted at around 3.35am.

Another boat, carrying 22 men, was then stopped at 4.25am.

Amidst rising numbers of illegal crossings of the English Channel by boat migrants, a new report has found that the Conservative government of the United Kingdom deported just 15 per cent of migrants that reached British shores illegally last year.

In 2019 1,890 migrants successfully reached Britain after crossing the English Channel illegally, however, just 125 migrants were returned to European nations, despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson's promise to send back those migrants who enter the UK illegally.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) states that a majority of the migrants illegally crossing the Channel are Iranian nationals, most of whom are deemed to have a "strong" case for asylum due to the repressive nature of the Islamist regime in Tehran, reports the BBC.

In the year between September of 2018 and 2019, 4,749 Iranians applied for asylum in the UK, surging by 79 per cent over the previous year. Of the total number of Iranian asylum seekers, 2,406 or 63 per cent were granted asylum in their first attempt, with more being granted the status on appeal.

It is believed that the reason for a large proportion of illegal boat migrants being comprised of Iranians is due to their comparative wealth to other asylum seekers, with a boat crossing having a higher chance of success than other methods but also being more expensive.

Authorities were alerted to a small boat travelling towards the UK off the coast at Dover in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Dozens of migrants have sought to travel across Channel this week, despite warnings from authorities against crossing the busy shipping lanes and dangerous waters.

At around 5.30am, a Border Force vessel was called to assist a boat entering UK waters, which was carrying a group of 26 males and two females who have presented themselves as Pakistani, Afghan, Iraqi, Iranian and Syrian nationals.

Across the Channel, the French coastguard said it was alerted to a group of migrants near the seaside resort of Stella Plage, near Le Touquet in northern France, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Record 90 migrants stopped crossing English Channel in one day

A record 90 migrants were intercepted by UK authorities in a surge of attempts to cross the busy English Channel on Thursday.

A huge search and rescue operation involving the coastguard helicopter gripped the Kent coast today as authorities rescued migrants aboard six inflatable boats.

Today's surge of migrants intercepted is thought to be the most ever in a single day, despite repeated warnings about the dangers of making the trip in a small boat.

Women and children were seen being treated by emergency services at Port of Dover after crossing the busy shipping lanes in near-freezing conditions.

In total, 90 migrants – including up to 15 children – were intercepted by UK authorities on Thursday, the Home Office confirmed.

Dover MP Natalie Elphicke said a "fresh approach" is needed and migrants should be returned to France regardless of where they are intercepted.

The Home Office has revealed 102 asylum seekers crossed the Channel into Kent in six separate incidents.

Yesterday, last August's record of 86 arriving in a single day was eclipsed in a year that saw nearly 1,900 make it to the UK.

Despite the latest crossings, the Government still insists its security tactics are working.

In the first crossing at 1am, Border Force agents intercepted a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) carrying 26 men and six women who said they were Iranian and Iraqi.

Security Minister Brandon Lewis said: "We are tackling illegal migrant crossings on all fronts, right alongside our French and Belgian partners.
