Remember the old adage — sticks and stones will break  my bones but words will never harm me.

In the war by the US and its Anglo-European allies to destroy Russia since 1945, the propaganda war has been lost by the Russians many times over. That war is still being lost.

But for the first time since 1945, the battlefield war is being won by the Russian General Staff.

The uncertainty which remains is whether President Vladimir Putin will continue to restrict the General Staff's war plans in order that Putin can go to negotiations with the Americans on terms which will forego the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian territory between Kiev and the Polish border,  and concede to the Kiev regime unhindered control of the cities to the east — Kharkov, Odessa, Dniepropetrovsk.

Call those terms Istanbul-II. As with the draft terms initialled in Istanbul at the end of March 2022,  Istanbul-II amounts to an exchange of dominant Russian military power for US and Ukrainian signatures on paper with false intention and  temporary duration.   

The US administration says it believes Putin will concede. It also believes that by staging its war of pinpricks — that's the drone, artillery and missile barrages fired by the Ukrainian military, directed by the US and  UK – in the Black Sea and Russia's western border regions,  Putin's  red lines and threats of retaliation are exposed as empty bluff.  The same interpretation of Putin, and confidence that he will accept US terms, are the foundation of the Ukraine "peace plan" of Donald Trump's advisors.  The Trump plan's offer of "some limited sanctions relief" reflects the conviction in Washington that Putin's oligarch constituency can be bribed to push Putin into the same "frozen war" concessions as Roman Abramovich got Putin to accept at Istanbul-I – until the General Staff stopped them both.

Putin's restrictions on the General Staff's proposals for neutralizing the US and British air surveillance and electronic warfare operations; and his orders to stand by while the Ukrainians have assembled several thousand forces, first to cross into Kursk, and then into Bryansk and Belgorod, are now as visible in Moscow as they have been in Washington.

Moscow sources believe it was the Kremlin which was taken by surprise by the Kursk attack  on August 6, but not the General Staff and the military intelligence agency GRU. They understood the battlefield intelligence as it was coming in and requested Putin's agreement to respond.  In retrospect,  they say "we told you so"; they imply their hands were tied by the Kremlin orders.

"My understanding for now," says one of the sources, "is that these are pinpricks that feel painful but they are not life threatening. Russia will not take any land, for now, other than the four regions. It should be the eight regions but it's obvious Putin doesn't have the will and the military does not have the capacity to hold. So we will see Ukrainians inside Kursk for a while. But it should be downplayed because it should not be allowed to be a bargain chip in negotiations the other side is aiming at."

Putin said this himself, the source points out at his meeting on August 12 with the Chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, and others. "These [Kursk] actions clearly aim to achieve a primary military objective: to halt the advance of our forces in their effort to fully liberate the territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics, the Novorossiya region."   Putin also said: "It is now becoming increasingly clear why the Kiev regime rejected our proposals for a peaceful settlement, as well as those from interested and neutral mediators.... It seems the opponent is aiming to strengthen their negotiating position for the future. However, what kind of negotiations can we have with those who indiscriminately attack civilians and civilian infrastructure, or pose threats to nuclear power facilities? What is there to discuss with such parties?"

"It's obvious at this point," comments a military source, "that the Americans and Ukrainians have decided that Putin will come to terms if they snatch enough Russian territory and keep up  their strikes behind the Russian lines...The Ukrainians are going for broke in the north while the centre collapses. But they know, no matter how expensive it is, the longer they remain on the attack, the worse it looks for the Russian leadership. They also have the measure of Putin who gives orders for half measures."

Strategisesti olisi parasta jos länsi voisi olla Venäjää vastaan yhtä yhtenäinen kuin Venäjä on länttä vastaan.

Jos Venäjä näkisi Nato-maita vastaan hyökkäämisen periaatteessa järkevänä, Baltian maat tuskin olisivat enää itsenäisiä. Ne olisivat kyllä olleet tarpeeksi pieniä että Venäjä olisi voinut vallata ne samaan tapaan kuin suunnitteli valtaavansa Ukrainan.

Baltian maat ovat NATO-maita. Tiedät, mitä jäsenyys merkitsee!

The 80th Air Assault Brigade reported that the captured tanks include the latest T-90M, four T-80BVMs, and two T-72s.

These tanks will be utilized by the air assault brigade in future battles against russian forces. However, the tanks are in varying technical condition—some have communication issues, while others require significant repairs.

"The T-72s are in poor condition, clearly having seen extensive use. We're working on restoring them," the military reported.

Chechen volunteers under Ramzan Kadyrov have been fighting on Vladimir Putin's side since the start of the war in Ukraine. However, those who appeared in the Kursk region have seriously disappointed the Russian president. They did not resist the Armed Forces of Ukraine and surrendered without a fight. This is another such case.

A few days ago in Chechnya, President Vladimir Putin met with its leader Ramzan Kadyrov during his first visit to the region since 2011. Kadyrov, a key Kremlin ally, claims to have sent thousands of fighters to assist the Russian president in his offensive in Ukraine.

Putin appointed Kadyrov as leader in 2007, when he was 30 years old, after his father, Akhmad Kadyrov, was assassinated in a bomb attack at a stadium in Grozny. Ramzan is loyal to Putin but has lied to him and once again failed on the battlefield.

Specifically, it concerns his soldiers who arrived utterly unprepared in the Kursk region. They have been a laughingstock for Ukrainians for years, and this has been confirmed again.

"New Europe" reports that Ramzan Kadyrov called on the heads of regional internal affairs departments and ordered them to sign contracts with volunteers who were then sent to Russia. The trouble is that these volunteers had no idea about being soldiers, which allowed the Ukrainian army to capture more towns in the Kursk region quickly.


The fate of Akhmat's Chechen regiment, which withdrew from its positions without a fight and lost at least ten prisoners in the process, has become a symbol of the worrying incompetence of the Russian army in the early days of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region, writes "Novaya Gazeta".
The volunteers mentioned signing short-term contracts for four months and then renegotiating them again. When they sign a new contract, along with a salary, they receive a lump sum payment of the same amount.

Interestingly, Ramzan Kadyrov and Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov have disappeared from public life after the defeat in the Kursk region. Importantly, Kadyrov's people fight for Putin, but there is no shortage of Chechen volunteers on the Ukrainian side. It is there that fighters who disagree with Moscow's policies fight.

Vladimir Putin allegedly sent North Korean leader Kim Jong Un 24 Orlov Trotters as partial payment for artillery shells for the war in Ukraine. These are the favourite horses of the North Korean dictator.


According to "The Times", 24 horses – 19 stallions and five mares – were transported last Sunday.

It is known that Orlov Trotters are Kim's favourite breed, and he appears on such horses in propaganda photos propagated by the North Korean regime. In 2022, thirty horses of this breed were also sent to Pyongyang.

South Korean media reported that the new delivery of horses is part of the payment for artillery shells sent to the Russian military for use against Ukraine.

In June, Putin and Kim signed a "strategic partnership agreement," obliging both countries to military cooperation. According to the media, the North Korean leader gifted Putin with a pair of local breed dogs in the same month. Putin reciprocated in August by sending 447 goats to North Korea.

According to an analysis by the Institute for the Study of War, Russia has transferred several units from Pokrovsk to Kursk.


Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) indicate that the operation of the Ukrainian Defence Forces in the Kursk region has exerted operational pressure on the Kremlin, likely leading Russia to transfer reserve units from Pokrovsk to the Kursk region.

Russian sources, including social media users, reported that at least one Russian 15th Motorised Rifle Brigade company has been transferred from Pokrovsk to the Kursk region.

It reads that the Russian military command could have transferred reserve units aiming to strengthen the priority Russian offensive operation to protect against the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region.

Offensive towards Kursk

The offensive operation towards Kursk is ongoing. Ukrainian troops have advanced about 1.6 kilometres over the past day, General Oleksandr Syrsky, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday.


- The offensive operation continues in the Kursk direction. During the day, our troops advanced up to two kilometers, a total of 5 square kilometers of territory were taken under control - Syrsky informed Zelenskyy.

At the same time, he noted that fighting of varying intensity is taking place along almost the entire front line. The most difficult situation remains in the direction of Pokrovsk.

Wreckage of missing Russian Mi-8 helicopter found with no survivors, Russian media reports

The wreckage of a missing Russian helicopter was located with no survivors found, a day after the Mi-8 helicopter went missing with 22 passengers on board in the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East, reported Russian state media on Sept. 1.

Seventeen bodies have been found so far at the crash site, according to Tass, which cited the Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry. On board were three crew members and nineteen passengers.

According to Tass, the aircraft belongs to the Vityaz-Aero airline which organizes tourist trips on the peninsula, and disappeared during a visit to the Vachkazhets volcano.

Russia's aviation industry has been hit hard by Western sanctions introduced in response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and multiple incidents involving equipment malfunction on civilian airplanes have been reported.

Saanen huomauttaa, että ryssä on epästabiloinut Zaporizzjan ydinvoimalaa jo ainakin vuoden, mutta Ukraina on ongelma, jos lähestyvät Kurskin voimalaa?
