Senior U.S. Defense official Douglas Macgregor, who was recently installed at the Pentagon by partisan loyalists of President Donald Trump, has come under fire for saying that American politicians become "very, very rich" by supporting Israel, with pro-Israeli organizations calling his remarks "antisemitic."

Macgregor, a retired Army Col., went even further than Omar, bluntly claiming that politicians who support Israel are only driven by money, and that the pro-Israeli lobby in the U.S. is trying to drag America into war.

Macgregor was appointed adviser to Trump's new acting secretary of defense, Christopher Miller.  His appointment is part of a purge of professional, non-partisan leaders in the Department of Defense, and their replacement by fervent Trump loyalists, which has been taking place since Trump was projected to have lost the presidential election to Joe Biden last week.

Macgregor's remarks regarding the influence of the pro-Israeli lobby in the U.S. were first reported on Friday by CNN. The network quoted an interview Macgregor gave last year, in which he said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo "has his hands out for money from the Israeli lobby, the Saudis and others."

Speaking about Trump's former national security adviser, John Bolton, who like Pompeo is a strong supporter of the Israeli right-wing and the settlements enterprise, Macgregor said: "Mr. Bolton has become very, very rich and is in the position he's in because of his unconditional support for the Israeli lobby. He is their man on the ground, in the White House."

When asked whether politicians who are known for their support for Israel, such as Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), want to go to war with Iran, Macgregor replied: "You have to look at the people that donate to those individuals."

He added that AIPAC (Oma. huom. American Israel Public Affairs Committee) has "enormous quantities of money that over many years have cultivated an enormous influence in power in Congress."

Slamming Macgregor's remarks, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL), one of the most prominent Jewish members of Congress, wrote on Twitter: "The only appropriate response from this White House to these antisemitic comments from someone with a distorted idea of the Holocaust must be a swift firing and complete condemnation."

Echoing Deutch's sentiments, Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League warned that "There is no place in our government for these ugly, antisemitic conspiracy theories that wealthy Jews are controlling the government."

AIPAC, considered the most powerful pro-Israel lobby in the U.S., called Macgregor's comments "ill-informed and illegitimate" and said that his words will not deter the organization from continuing its work.

Christians United for Israel, the largest grassroots pro-Israeli organization in the U.S., also denounced Macgregor's comments, writing in a tweet: " Douglas Macgregor's comments regarding Israel are repugnant. Antisemitism has no place in the US government." The organization has been supportive of many of President Trump's policies regarding Israel over the past four years.

Beneath the glittering facade of a paradise in the desert lurks a cruel and lethal system of recruitment, transportation, transfer, kidnaping and defrauding of human beings – mostly women – by means of the threat of force, or the actual use of force, as well as other types of coercion. The purpose of the system is exploitation for the purpose of prostitution, other types of sexual exploitation, forced labor or employment in conditions of slavery.

The European Parliament also announced this year – a few months before the festive peace agreement was signed and the festival of tourism and cooperative projects between Israel and the UAE began – that "many countries in the Middle East are not implementing the international standards to fight human trafficking. Countries such as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Lebanon are considered to be the worst offenders ... The most alarming development that we have witnessed is the trafficking of women for slavery."

An investigation conducted last year that was broadcast on Greek television exposed the violence and crime taking place with the knowledge of the authorities. Its editors estimated that in Dubai alone 45,000 women are trapped in the prostitution network. Not only women are traded there, but so are many teenage boys, who provide sexual services to clients of prostitution from all over the world, visitors to the "Las Vegas of the Middle East."

Pollard's arrest and eventual conviction complicated ties between US Jews and sectors of the government. Jews seeking entry into or advancement in the national security apparatus were often rebuffed, with Pollard cited as the reason. The Pollard narrative in part drove the espionage charges brought in 2004 against two top staffers for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — a case that fell apart but drastically changed how AIPAC operated.

Pollard suggested that Jews were deluding themselves if they thought of America as a home and suggested he would counsel a young US Jew working in the American security apparatus to spy for Israel.

"I'd tell him, not doing anything is unacceptable. So simply going home [to Israel] is not acceptable. Making aliyah is not acceptable," Pollard said. "You have to make a decision whether your concern for Israel and loyalty to Israel and loyalty to your fellow Jews is more important than your life."

Not wanting to directly threaten the powerful American president, a crucial Israeli ally, Clinton was told that the Israeli government had thrown the tapes away. But the very mention of them was enough to constitute a form of blackmail," Halper wrote, adding that "according to information provided by a CIA source, a stricken Clinton appeared to buckle."

Halper noted that "intelligence officials in the United States or Israel will of course not confirm on the record the extent or substance of Israeli eavesdropping," but also cited an article published in 2000 by the magazine Insight, that claimed that Israel had "penetrated four White House telephone lines and was able to relay real-time conversations on those lines from a remote site outside the White House directly to Israel for listening and recording."

Halper is not the first to claim that Israel illicitly taped the steamy conversations between Clinton and Lewinsky and tried to leverage it to its advantage. In 1999, UK author Gordon Thomas claimed that the Mossad had collected some 30 hours' worth of phone sex conversations between Lewinsky and Clinton and was using them to blackmail the US or to protect a deeply-embedded mole in the White House.

Thomas also claimed that the Mossad was behind the deaths of Princess Diana, Robert Maxwell, William Buckley, and the 241 Marines killed in a 1983 barracks explosion in Lebanon. At the time, Netanyahu's spokesman described Thomas's allegations as "unmitigated drivel."

Lachlan Murdoch, the CEO of the Fox Corporation, wrote in a letter to the Anti-Defamation League that Fox News will not be firing Tucker Carlson for endorsing "replacement theory," a white supremacist conspiracy.

The conspiracy theory that Jews are orchestrating a "great replacement" of white westerners with nonwhite immigrants is popular among white supremacists and fueled the 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, among other attacks.

Carlson took to the air Monday night and both doubled down on his statement and attacked the ADL. Carlson cited an essay on the ADL's website which argued against a bi-national state or a "one-state solution" for the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

"A full review of the guest interview indicates that Mr. Carlson decried and rejected replacement theory," Murdoch wrote in the letter on Sunday to Greenblatt. "As Mr. Carlson himself stated during the guest interview: 'White replacement theory? No, no, this is a voting rights question.'"

In a response letter sent Monday, Greenblatt wrote that citing voting rights "does not give [Carlson] free license to invoke a white supremacist trope."

Benjamin Netanyahu: Court ruling creates danger of Israel being 'overrun' by 'fake' converts from Africa

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered his take Tuesday on a recent Supreme Court decision requiring the government to recognize Reform and Conservative conversions performed in Israel: It could lead to the country being "overrun" with "fake" Jewish converts from Africa.

Netanyahu's statement, made in an interview with Jerusalem Post reporter Lahav Harkov, came about a week after the court decision reignited a battle over Jewish conversion between liberal Israelis and Netanyahu's haredi, or ultra-Orthodox, allies.

Those allies do not want non-Orthodox leaders to have control over who is recognized as a Jew in Israel; liberal Israeli activists say change is sorely needed. The Supreme Court ruling, while cheered by non-Orthodox leaders in Israel and around the world, is narrow in scope: It applies only to Jews who have converted under non-Orthodox auspices within Israel's borders, which encompasses a small number of people. Still, haredi politicians and leaders have fulminated against it, with one haredi party implying in a campaign ad that the Reform movement would convert dogs to Judaism.

Resistance to the ruling dovetails with another hot-button political issue in Israel: the status of African asylum seekers in Israel, a population of roughly 30,000.

One haredi party, Shas, published a Facebook post last week that appeared to feature African asylum seekers. The post claimed without evidence that "thousands of infiltrators and foreign workers will become Jewish through Reform conversion."

Netanyahu echoed that claim on Tuesday. He suggested that the court decision could allow African asylum seekers to take advantage of Israel's Law of Return, which grants automatic citizenship to any Jew who applies.

"The real question we have is [how] to prevent fake conversions that could enter the country," he said in the interview, which was broadcast by the Tel Aviv International Salon. "You know, a lot of people want to come into Israel. In fact, I put up a fence, they call it a wall, but I prevented the overrunning of Israel, which is the only first-world country that you can walk to from Africa. We would have had here already a million illegal migrants from Africa, and the Jewish state would have collapsed."

But when Harkov asked Netanyahu if he was concerned about the possibility of Africans coming to Israel and converting to gain citizenship, he said, "Not only from there, you can have it from the entire world."

The asylum seekers, mainly from Eritrea and Sudan, say they were fleeing war and oppressive regimes, and seeking a safe haven in Israel. Netanyahu's government, however, has claimed that they are economic migrants who came to Israel looking for work. The government has declined to recognize the vast majority of them as refugees and refers to them officially as "infiltrators." It has sought to deport them or urge them to leave the country voluntarily.

For years, Israel sent thousands of African asylum seekers to live in a detention camp on the Egyptian border. Israel closed the camp in 2018.

Ugandan Jews Not Eligible to Immigrate to Israel, State Informs High Court

After years of deliberation, the Interior Ministry has determined that members of the Jewish community of Uganda are not eligible to immigrate to Israel. The Jewish Agency had ruled several years ago that they are, but the Interior Ministry has the upper hand in such matters.

The decision was revealed in the state's response on Tuesday to a petition filed in the High Court of Justice by a member of the community whose request to immigrate had been rejected. Minister of Interior Arye Dery and the Population and Immigration Authority are listed as respondents in the case.

A ruling in favor of the state could have serious repercussions for "emerging Jewish communities" around the world interested in connecting to Israel. This would include "Bnei Anusim" – descendants of Jews forced to convert during the Spanish and Portuguese inquisitions – as well as communities that claim descent from the "Lost Israelite tribes" and entire communities of converts in South America. The High Court is scheduled to hold a hearing in the case on February 3.

The Abayudaya, who do not have Jewish roots, embraced Judaism about 100 years ago. Only about 20 years ago, however, did members of this community begin undergoing formal conversions. Most of these conversions were overseen by rabbis affiliated with the Conservative movement. Most of the 2,000-strong community reside today in several villages in eastern Uganda, with a tiny number in Kenya.

Two and a half years ago, the Interior Ministry rejected a request from Kibita Yosef – who was then participating in a study program in Israel run by the Conservative movement – to obtain immigrant status under the Law of Return. According to the Law of Return, any person who converts to Judaism is eligible to immigrate to Israel on condition that the conversion was conducted in a "recognized Jewish community" – regardless of denominational affiliation.

In its response to the petition, the state said explicitly for the first time that it does not regard the Abayudaya as a "recognized Jewish community," and therefore, members are not eligible for immigration under the Law of Return.

Three years ago, Francis Kimani Njogu, a member of the Abayudaya , was arrested when he landed in Israel on a flight from Nairobi – even though he was in possession of a valid student visa allowing him to study at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Kyllä, Haaretz on vasemmalla. Israel Hayom kuulema on vahvasti Bibin kannattaja, ja suurimmista Ynet on hitusen oikealla ja Maariv vähän vasemmalla.

Unfortunately, according to a report in Yediot Aharonot, some 100 members of the Black Hebrews, most of them born in Israel, and knowing no other environment, are to be deported to the United States within the next two months.

The Black Hebrews, who believe themselves to be descendants of the Lost Tribes of Israel, originated in Chicago under the leadership of the late Ben Carter, also known as Ben Ammi Ben-Israel, came to Israel in the late 1960s, and for the most part settled in Dimona. They have been trying for half a century, with only minimal success, to acquire Israeli citizenship. Some have served in the army, but most have been rejected because they are not citizens of Israel.

Their community numbers around 5,000, and while they have integrated reasonably well in Dimona, they live in limbo because their future in Israel remains uncertain. Their permanent resident status can be revoked at any time.

A 44-year-old member of the Black Hebrew community, who was born in Israel, and whose children were born in Israel, in an interview on KAN Reshet Bet, said that he was in constant fear of being deported, because all his requests for citizenship had been denied. Another spoke of a mother of nine children, some of whom were born in Israel, who is being deported. She has lived in Israel for around 30 years, and before leaving America, sold all her assets. The hard-line policy will continue for as long as Arye Deri remains interior minister, and was no different when Eli Yishai occupied the same position.

"They told us they are inoculations," said one of the women interviewed. "They told us people who frequently give birth suffer. We took it every three months. We said we didn't want to."

Aika ongelmallisen etnonationalistinen väite, ja samalla antisemitistinen, koska jos haluaa rajata etnisyydet etnovaltioihin, niin sehän edellyttää n. 10 miljoonan juutalaisen karkottamisen muualta maailmasta etnovaltioonsa. Nämä Ugandan juutalaiset ei ole mikään uususkonto, kuten Black Hebrew Israelites (jotka on Nation of Islamin ohella hienoa afroamerikkalaista komediaa), vaan omaavat hyvin pitkän historian oman judaismin versionsa noudattamisesta, mahdollisesti pidemmän kuin Israelin punatukkaiset kasaarit.

Maailman juutalaisten toiminta on keskimäärin vähintäinkin arveluttavaa, mutta Israel pysyköön heillä. Ja sinne sopisi muidenkin juutalaisten mennä.

Anyway, olen aina ihaillut juutalaisten valtion kykyä elää monikymmenkertaisen paskasakin ympäröimänä. Siinä olisi suomalaisille orja- ja aisurigeeniä kantavalle suomiurpolle opeteltavaa.

Alkuillasta Al-Shuruk-nimellä tunnettu 14-kerroksinen talo luhistui kasaan Israelin tekemien ilmaiskujen jälkeen. Rakennuksessa oli muun muassa tv-kanava al-Aqsan toimitiloja.
Päivää aiemmin tiistaina Israel tuhosi maan tasalle Hanadi-tornitalon, jossa Gazaa hallitsevalla Hamas-järjestöllä oli toimistotiloja.
