Niin, eipä niitä juuri todistella. FB:ssä oli video, jossa iso troolari tms. oli satoja metrejä libyan rannikosta. Laivan lähelle yritti suuri kumivene tungokseen asti täynnä mustia jannuja. Troolari,  vahingosta viisastuneena, ei ottanut jannuja kyytiin, vaikka upottivat veneensä. Laivasta kuvattiin video, jossa lasti hukkui laivan viereen. Että semmosta.

Espanjan meritaksipalvelu on ollut aktiivinen tänä viikonloppuna ja noukki kyytiinsä peräti 131 "hädänalaista".

Tänään pelastettiin 72 "hädänalaista" kahdesta veneestä Alboranmereltä ja heidät tuotiin Almeriaan.

72 immigrants rescued from 2 boats in Alborán arrive at the port of Almeria

Salvamento Marítimo has landed 72 immigrants during the dawn of Sunday at the port of Almeria, including five women and three children, rescued from two boats located in Alborán.

A spokesman for Maritime Rescue has informed Efe this Sunday that the coordinating center of Almeria received yesterday the warning of the fishing Miguel Rubino about the sighting of a patera, in whose search the vessel Guardamar Calíope departed.

Eilen pelastettiin 59 "hädänalaista" yhtestä veneestä Gibraltarin salmesta,  joista peräti 51 (!) ovat oman ilmoituksensa mukaan alaikäisiä.

Morocco's state-run news agency says Moroccan navy crews rescued 424 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea on Sunday night and Monday.

The MAP news agency reported that the makeshift boats carrying the migrants were in trouble when the rescues took place, but it didn't give details.

MAP says the rescued migrants included 53 women and 16 minors and some of the hundreds of passengers had serious health conditions.

It wasn't immediately clear where the boats were headed, but Morocco increasingly has become a departure point for Europe-bound migrants. The North African kingdom has adopted new tactics to reduce the surge and reports stopping tens of thousands of attempted sea crossings to Spain so far this year.

Around 150 migrants jump border fence into Ceuta (30.8.2019)

The last large-scale crossing took place last year when over 600 people entered the Spanish exclave city

Around 150 migrants managed to jump the border fence dividing Morocco from Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta on Friday morning. According to official sources, the number of migrants who tried to cross into Spanish territory was even higher, but only around 150 made it past the double fence, which is six meters high, 8.4 kilometers long and topped with concertina wire.

At least five Civil Guard officers were injured in the incident. The officers were kicked by some of the migrants and suffered bruises, according to the same sources.

Several migrants became caught up in the concertina wire as they tried to cross into Ceuta but were able to untangle themselves and to jump over the fence. According to the local daily El faro de Ceuta, seven of them remained stuck and began yelling "Spain, Spain!" and "Friend, friend!" while others begged the Civil Guard officers to let them pass.

The migrants made the jump into Spain from the Benzú pier, then ran at full speed to the city's temporary migrant reception center (CETI), four kilometers away. The CETI in Ceuta is typically the first destination for migrants who jump the border fence separating Spain from Morocco.

Spain rescues almost 200 migrants in the Mediterranean

Almost 200 people were rescued attempting to make the dangerous crossing from North Africa to Spain on Monday, the coastguard said.

The rescues come amid a debate in Spain over the role that charity boats should play in assisting government efforts after a Spanish non-governmental organisation ship was at the centre of a standoff with European states last month.

In the Strait of Gibraltar, 73 people were rescued from three boats, among them 10 minors, Spanish rescue services said. Another 110 people were rescued from five boats in the Alboran Sea, the majority of whom will be taken to the port of Malaga.

Arrivals to Spain so far this year by mid-August were a little over 18,000, Interior Ministry data shows, a 39% reduction on the same period last year.

Espanjan ja Marokon hallitusten pysyvän siirtolaisuutta käsittelevän työryhmän kokouksessa Madridissa selvisi torstaina, että Marokko on poiminut kumiveneistä mereltä 10 900 laitonta siirtolaista tämän vuoden aikana. Jos nuo olisivat siis päässeet tarpeeksi pitkälle merellä, olisi jokainen kuskattu Espanjaan, josta sitten osa jatkaisi matkaa muualle Eurooppaan hakemaan turvapaikkaa ja mukana tulisi lisää kaiken maailman abderrahamanbouananeja turuille sekä subsaharalaisia afroja groomaamaan lapsia.

Morocco says it has rescued 10,700 migrants in small boats in 2019 (26.9.2019)

The Spanish and Moroccan governments have highlighted "the primary role of bilateral collaboration" between the two countries in the management of migration flows, as well as the need to continue promoting legal, orderly and safe immigration channels. According to the Moroccan authorities during the meeting, the Alawi country has carried out with its own means the rescue and rescue of 10,700 people in 2019.

This was revealed during the XIX meeting of the Hispano-Moroccan Permanent Group on Migrations, which took place this Thursday in Madrid. Espanjan sisäministeriön tuoreimmat luvut kertovat, että tänä vuonna 1.1.–14.10.2019 maahan (maitse ja meritse) saapuneiden laittomien siirtolaisten määrä on laskenut 50,3 % edellisen vuoden vastaavaan aikaan verrattuna (48.636 > 24.159). Tämä on pääosin Marokon kanssa tehdyn yhteistyön tulosta (ks. ed. kommentti). Viime vuosi oli ennätyksellinen ja silloin maitse ja meritse saapui 64.298 henkeä koko vuonna. Lisäksi maahan saapuu Väli-Amerikasta lentäen melkoisesti väkeä ja siten turvapaikkaa on tänä vuonna hakenut jo liki 82.000 henkeä.

Huom! Maitse saapuvat tarkoittavat kaikki käytännössä Ceutan ja Melillan erillisalueille tunkeutuneita. Meritse porukkaa tulee paitsi Manner-Espanjaan, myös Baleaareille ja Kanariansaarille sekä noille Marokon rannikon erillisalueille.

In a few months, Spain has gone from being the main Mediterranean route for clandestine migration to presenting its collaboration with Rabat as a role model in the EU

The Executive has fulfilled the goal that he set for himself in January and has halved the numbers of irregular immigration, an objective considered almost unattainable when raised internally. Van with 52 migrants smashes through Spanish enclave border

A van carrying 52 migrants and going at high speed smashed through a border barrier between Morocco and Spain to enter the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, officials said Monday.

A spokesman for the Interior Ministry´s office in Ceuta said the vehicle broke through a metal gate on the Spanish side of the border around 3 a.m. (0300GMT). It was not clear whether it had broken through other fences on the Moroccan side.

The official said the 52 migrants were all from sub-Saharan countries. They were only identified as 34 men, 16 women and two minors. Four were treated in a Ceuta hospital for minor injuries suffered in the crossing.

The driver was a Moroccan citizen and has been detained, said the official, who was speaking on condition of anonymity in line with government rules.

It was not first time that vehicles carrying migrants have crashed through the border but the spokesman said Monday's incident involved the biggest number so far.

Useat ulkomaalaiset mediat kertovat erikoisesta ihmissalakuljetustapauksesta, jossa kaksi teini-ikäistä siirtolaista yritettiin kuljettaa Marokosta Espanjaan. Viranomaiset joutuivat tekemään tosissaan töitä saadakseen piiloon ahdetut nuoret pois autosta.

The Sun -lehden mukaan 17- ja 19-vuotiaat yritettiin salakuljettaa Marokosta Espanjaan. Konnuuksille tuli hyvin pian stoppi, kun espanjalaiset viranomaiset pysäyttivät auton rutiinitarkastusta varten Espanjan Melillan erillisalueella Pohjois-Afrikassa.

Poliisit päättivät tarkastaa ajoneuvon tarkemmin huomattuaan, ettei 30-vuotias marokkolaiskuljettaja ollut autossa yksin. Daily Mailin mukaan viranomaiset olivat tarkastuksen yhteydessä hyödyntäneet laitteistoa, joka oli tunnistanut autosta useamman sykkeen.

Auto jouduttiin osittain purkaa

Tarkemman tutkimisen jälkeen poliisit tapasivat autosta kaksi teiniä, jotka oli pyritty piilottamaan mahdollisimman hyvään piiloon. Nuorempi löydettiin hyvin ahtaasta tilasta auton kojelaudan sisältä, kun taas toinen teineistä oli piilotettu takaistuimen alla olevaan tilaan.

Salamatkustajat oli pakattu autoon niin tiiviisti, että viranomaiset joutuivat leikata autonosia irti saadakseen teinit pois piilopaikoistaan.

TWO migrants were found hidden inside a dashboard and under the back seats of a car travelling from Morocco to Spain.

The teenagers, 17 and 19, from the Sub-Saharan nation of Guinea, were attempting to enter Melilla, when Spain's Guardia Civil officials stopped the car for a routine check.

The teens were found at the Spanish border after police used a "heartbeat detection machine" to find them, according to a reports.

Officers decided to investigate further when they found "physical anomalies" in the vehicle, according to the report.

Authorities employed a "heartbeat detection machine" — which confirmed that there were people hiding inside, Daily Mail reported.

Then they conducted a thorough sweep of the car — finding the 17-year-old sprawled across the entire interior of the dashboard and the 19-year-old lying flat across the rear seats.

To do this, they took multiple security measures in order to avoid being detected by the Security Forces and Bodies. De acuerdo a los datos de la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones, actualizados a fecha 2 de diciembre, al menos 91 personas habían muerto en pateras que se dirigían a Canarias. Si bien, a este número hay que sumar al menos otros 58 migrantes que han fallecido este miércoles después de que la embarcación en la que viajaban naufragase frente a las costas de la ciudad mauritana de Nuadibú.

Aparte de estas 58 personas, la OIM durante 2019 ha reportado la muerte de 91 personas, de las cuales al menos 48 personas fallecieron en la zona atlántica marroquí, frente a la costa de Dakhla, tras poner rumbo a las Islas Canarias.

Otras tres, al parecer procedentes de Costa de Marfil, se ahogaron frente a las costas de Gran Canaria; y la OIM también ha reportado a la muerte de cinco personas que naufragaron en una patera en la que viajaban con otras 29 personas a 607 kilómetros al sur de Gran Canaria y que fueron rescatadas por un petrolero con bandera de Singapur.

At least 58 people drowned after a boat from Gambia carrying around 150 migrants sank off the coast of Mauritania on Wednesday, the Mauritanian interior ministry and U.N. migration agency said.

The vessel, which set out a week ago bound for Spain's Canary Islands, began running out of fuel and sank off the coast near the Mauritanian city of Nouadhibou, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) quoted survivors as saying.

The perilous sea passage from West Africa to the Canary Islands was once a major route for migrants seeking jobs and a better life in Europe. The latest incident was one of the deadliest since attempts became scarcer when Spain stepped up patrols in the mid-2000s.

"At least 58 people are confirmed dead after a vessel carrying migrants sank as it approached the coast of Mauritania today. Eighty-three others swam to shore and are receiving assistance," an IOM statement said.

Mauritania's interior ministry confirmed the accident and said passengers on the vessel included young women.

Until this incident, 97 people were estimated to have died this year attempting the Atlantic migration route, according to IOM. But many deaths are not recorded, as it is difficult to track the number of vessels that do not reach their destination or the number of passengers on board.

Spain's "Migrant Friendly" Border Fences (12.12.2019)

Spanish authorities have begun removing razor wire, known as concertina wire, from border fences along Spain's frontier with Morocco. The Socialist government ordered their removal after migrants who tried to jump the fences to enter Europe illegally suffered injuries after coming into contact with the wire.

Critics say that the razor wire functions as a significant deterrent to illegal immigration and that by removing it, the Spanish government not only risks unleashing new waves of mass migration from Africa, but also gives effective control of the Spanish border to Morocco, with which Spain has a tense relationship. Morocco frequently dumps large numbers of illegal migrants along the Spanish border to extract concessions from the Spanish government on unrelated issues.

The border fences in question involve those at Spain's North African exclaves of Ceuta and Melilla — magnets for Africans seeking a better life in Europe.

At Ceuta, two parallel fences that are six meters (20 feet) high and topped with concertina wire run eight kilometers (five miles) along the border with Morocco. At Melilla, twin fences that are four meters (13 feet) high run 12 kilometers (eight miles) along the border. The fences at Ceuta and Melilla are fortified with anti-climb mesh, video cameras, noise and motion sensors, spotlights and surveillance posts.

Each year, thousands of migrants — sometimes hundreds at a time — try to scale the fences at Ceuta and Melilla, where they are often successful. Once inside Spanish territory, illegal migrants are in the European Union, where magnanimous human rights laws virtually guarantee that they will never be deported back to their countries of origin.

Migrants who successfully scale the fences at Ceuta and Melilla are normally transferred to processing facilities in mainland Spain. Once there, many migrants continue on to wealthier countries in northern Europe, where social welfare benefits are more generous than in Spain. Only 30% of the migrants who enter Ceuta remain in Spain, according to Clemen Núñez, a director of the Red Cross in Ceuta. The rest normally move on to Britain, France and Germany. The border issue at Ceuta and Melilla is therefore one that affects all of Europe.

Migrants are increasingly using the tactic of mass attacks against the border fences in an effort to overwhelm the border police. During the past 18 months, thousands of migrants equipped with gloves, spike shoes and makeshift hooks have attempted to scale the fences at Ceuta and Melilla, often using extreme violence against the police.

The removal is in line with the current Socialist government's pro-immigration stance. In June 2018, for instance, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez welcomed 630 migrants from the Aquarius migrant ship who were rescued off the coast of Libya. Spain accepted the migrants after the Aquarius was refused entry by Italy and Malta. Italy's then interior minister, Matteo Salvini, accused Spain of "encouraging out-of-control immigration."

A few weeks later, the Spanish government announced that it would end so-called express deportations — the practice of immediately deporting migrants the moment they reach the Spanish border — after the European Court of Justice ruled that summary deportations were a violation of EU law.

The government has justified the removal of the concertina wires on the grounds of human rights. Government spokeswoman Isabel Celaá said that "this government wants to remove the concertinas without losing any security." She added that "border control must be linked to solidarity and respect for human dignity." Celaá insisted that "you can have border security without hurting people."

Police and border patrols agents, however, have said that without concertina wires, the border will become even more vulnerable to mass incursions than it already is. They added that whenever there are mass attacks against the fences, police are usually outnumbered by the migrants seeking to enter Spain illegally.

The Spanish newspaper ABC reported that police, in private conversations, said that they were worried that the Socialist government in Madrid was prioritizing the wellbeing of migrants over the safety of law enforcement officers. They noted that while eleven officers were injured in the mass attack against the fence in Ceuta on August 30, when migrants attacked police with acid and mace, not a single one of the 155 migrants who managed to reach Spanish territory have been deported.

300 Migrants Rescued off Spain over Two-day Christmas Period

Around 100 migrants were rescued off the coast of Spain on Thursday, adding to around another 200 plucked off makeshift boats on Christmas Day, Spain's maritime rescue service said.

More than half of them were found off the Costa Blanca on Spain's southeastern coast, with 10 people rescued just before dawn, among them eight men, a woman and a child.

Later in the morning, rescuers saved 16 men off a boat near Torrevieja, while another 12 men were rescued from a dinghy off Xabia, some 45 kilometres (27 miles) up the coast from Benidorm.

And on Spain's southern coast, 17 men were found in waters off Cabo de Gata near Almeria while another man was found floating on what rescuers described as "an inflatable toy boat" in the Motril area, with his friend feared drowned.

Another 39 people reached the shore at Punta Jandia on the southwestern tip of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, the spokesman said.

There was no immediate information on the nationalities of those rescued.

Some 200 others were rescued on Christmas Day in a number of separate operations off the coast of Spain and Morocco.

Spanish NGOs accuse Spain of illegal migrant push-back

Spanish human rights groups called Saturday for an investigation into potentialhuman rights violations by Spanish authorities after thealleged expulsion of 42 migrants to Morocco without due process.

In a statement that was also co-signed by over 60 human rights organizations, human rights group Walking Borders denounced what they called the immediate expulsion of sub-Saharan migrants who had reached one of Spain's Chafarinas islands by boat Friday. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, the Chafarinas islands are just 3.5 kilometers from the coast of Morocco.

The group said Spain's Civil Guard returned the migrants to Moroccan authorities hours later in an alleged violation of the protections afforded by the European Court of Human Rights, which state that undocumented migrants disembarking on European soil should be provided with information, care and have their asylum claims processed.

"Border control and the containment of migratory flows cannot under any circumstance violate current laws," the statement said.

Nearly 50 people have been arrested after police smashed a human trafficking gang which used UK short-stay visas to smuggle Moroccan migrants into Europe.

Police say the gang made around one million pounds from their crimes by charging each migrant trafficked from North Africa up to £7,000.

The 47 arrests took place during a joint operation led by Spanish police and Royal Gibraltar Police officers coordinated by EUROPOL.

More than £15,000 in cash, 12 mobiles phones and five vehicles were seized during searches in Gibraltar and the town of La Linea the other side of the border in Spain.

A spokesman for Spain's National Police said in a statement: 'Forty-seven people have been arrested in a joint operation of the Spanish National Police and Royal Gibraltar Police for their suspected membership of a criminal organisation and trafficking of migrants between Gibraltar, Spain and several other European countries.

Migrant arrivals increase in Spain's Canary Islands

The number of migrants arriving in the Spanish Canary Islands increased last month to 18 times the number in January 2019, the AFP news agency reports. However, fewer migrants are trying to reach mainland Spain by boat.

708 migrants reached the Canary Islands last month, compared with 40 in January a year ago, according to Spanish government figures. Meanwhile, AFP reports, the number or migrants arriving in mainland Spain was down 72 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

Overall, the number of irregular migrant arrivals in Spain has decreased by more than half over the past two years, the government said, falling from 57,498 in 2018 to 26,168 in 2019.

Spanish police on Monday said they had arrested 26 suspected smugglers who brought more than 900 migrants to Spain last year, mostly from Algeria, charging 2,500 euros ($2,800) per person.

The network, which was based in Algeria and the southeastern Spanish provinces of Alicante and Almeria, used powerful speedboats which set out from the northern port of Oran and crossed the western Mediterranean in three hours, a police statement said.

It also ran a route between Tangiers in northern Morocca and the southern Spanish port of Algeciras.

"Each immigrant had to pay the organization between 2,000 and 2,500 euros for the crossing" and another 500 euros to be transported by car to cities in southern and eastern Spain "where they stayed with family and friends," it said.

If they failed to stump up the full payment, they were dumped along the way or held hostage until their families covered the amount owed in a business which earned the network "more than 1.5 million euros" last year, the police said.

Euroopan ihmisoikeustuomioistuimen mukaan aitojen yli kiivenneiden laittomien läpsyttelijöiden pikakäännytykset Melillasta takaisin Marokkoon ovat ok. Laittomasti maahan tunkeutuneiden pikakäännytys ei loukkaa Euroopan ihmisoikeussopimuksia.

Suomikin voisi hyödyntää tätä, jos päättäjillä olisi edes jonkin verran munaa. Toki parempi olisi kaikenlaisista sopimuksista välittämättä vain tehdä se, mikä maalle on hyväksi, eli pitää läpsyttelijälaumat ulkona ulinoista huolimatta.

Euroopan ihmisoikeustuomioistuin hyväksyi Espanjan suorittamat siirtolaisten pikakäännytykset Afrikassa

Tuomioistuin linjauksen mukaan Espanjan suorittamat pikakäännytykset eivät loukanneet Euroopan ihmisoikeussopimuksia.
Torstaina tekemässään ratkaisussa Euroopan ihmisoikeustuomioistuin tuki Espanjan viranomaisten päätöstä pikakäännyttää kaksi afrikkalaista takaisin Marokkoon, mistä nämä olivat saapuneet laittomasti Espanjan hallinnassa olevalle alueelle Pohjois-Afrikassa.

Tuomioistuin linjasi, että pikakäännytys ei loukkaa Euroopan ihmisoikeussopimuksia.

Kaksi afrikkalaista miestä ylitti elokuussa 2014 kymmenien muiden laittomien siirtolaisten kanssa Melillaa suojaavat raja-aidat. Miehet saatiin kiinni ja palautettiin välittömästi takaisin Marokon puolelle.

Oikeus perusteli päätöstään sillä, että siirtolaiset olivat itse asettaneet itsensä laittomaan tilanteeseen yrittäessään tietoisesti päästä Espanjan alueelle rajan kohdassa, jota ei ollut hyväksytty rajan ylittämiseen. Lisäksi miehet olivat käyttäneet hyväkseen voimaa ja suuren joukon mukanaan tuomaa hyötyä. Näin ollen afrikkalaiset olivat itse päättäneet yrittää Espanjan alueelle laittomasti.
