Viime kuukausina Irakissa on murhattu kaksi muutakin kauneusalan tunnettua henkilöä. Tällä viikolla murhattiin myös ihmisoikeusaktivisti ja neljän lapsen äiti Soad al-Ali.

'Predatory and manipulative rapist' who targeted lone, drunk gay women in the Village jailed

A 'predatory and manipulative rapist' who targeted 'lone, vulnerable' gay women in the Village before raping them has been jailed for 20 years.

Ashfaq Khan, 60, parked his car in Manchester city centre and went to the popular nightspot to seek out victims.

He pretended to be a taxi driver, or allowed women to think he was one, offering them a lift before attacking them.

Remorseless Khan, from Longsight, still denies the three rapes he was found guilty of committing.

One woman was raped twice - once while she was vomiting.

The other woman was attacked after Khan forced her to drink sambuca at his house, where he took her after she fell asleep in his car.

Khan was convicted of another sexual offence around a decade ago after he attacked a young woman he picked up on Canal Street.

He has now been labelled a 'dangerous' offender by a judge.

Khan must serve two thirds of his 20-year sentence in prison. He also has an extended five-year licence period.

Manchester Crown Court heard that the offences against the two women happened in summer last year.

Border force discovers migrants in onion lorries at Port of Poole

THE discovery of more than 20 migrants in vehicles at the Port of Poole during two separate incidents resulted in 47,000kg of onions being surrendered and destroyed.

Officers from Borough of Poole were forced to dispose of the large quantity of the onion as the goods had been "contaminated during transit".

The migrants, who were discovered by Border Force staff, identified themselves as Albanian, Iranian, Iraqi and Afghan and were found hidden in the lorries.

The first seizure involved a consignment of 23,000kg entering on a vehicle via the Port of Poole while the more recent case contained a vehicle containing a 24,000kg load.

Borough of Poole said the items had to be disposed of to prevent any contaminated goods from coming into contact with the public.

It is estimated the overall cost of the onions in high street supermarkets is more than £35,000.

Peter Haikin, Regulatory Services Manager, Borough of Poole: : "In June 2017 and January 2018, a total of 47,000kg of onions were surrendered at the Port of Poole following the discovery of clandestine migrants in two vehicles that were being used to transport the goods.

"As a result of the discoveries, all of the produce was disposed of to ensure that no contaminated goods would end up in any restaurants or supermarkets."

Mr Uzoka died on the pavement after being knifed in the heart when Koh and his two friends, Jonathan Okigbo and Merse Dikanda, chased and cornered him armed with knives and a machete on a housing estate in Shepherd's Bush, west London.

Large scale police operation at Landen at Vertrijk stations

Police staged a large-scale operation against people smugglers and transit migrants at two stations in the East of Flemish Brabant on Monday night. The operation took place at the station in the town of Landen and in the nearby village of Vertrijk. A total of 29 people that are in the country illegally were detained. 

Three local police services (Landen/Linter/Zoutleeuw, Bierbeek/Boutersem/Holsbeek/Lubbeek and Leuven) took part in the operation that was conducted under the watchful eye of the Federal Secretary of State responsible for Asylum and Migration Theo Francken (Flemish nationalist).

Serge Vanbrabant of the Landen/Linter/Zoutleeuw Local Police Service told Radio 2 Flemish Brabant that "They were also taken to police cells by officers of the Leuven Local Police Service."

"In the meantime 18 transit migrants have been taken to a secure migrant facility", Mr Vanbrabant added.

Hafiz Azizur Rehman Pirzada, 76 (19.08.42) from Laughton Road, Northolt was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 2 October of ten counts of sexual abuse on two nine-year-old girls between 2007-2009. He will be sentenced at the same court on Monday, 19 November.

The court heard how the victims, both sisters, came forward to speak to police in July 2015. Between 2007 and 2009 the two girls, aged between nine and 11 when the abuse too place, were taught the Quran by Pirzada when he was an Imam appointed by the family. The abuse took place at an address in Newham.

On 28 July 2016, Pirzada was arrested at his home address and bailed pending further enquiries. He was later charged with all ten counts on 16 March 2018; eight counts of sexual assault with a female under 13, and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Detective Sergeant Tony Killeen from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Team said: "This is a case stemming back ten years, but despite the length of time since the incidents Pirzada has been convicted of his crimes.

"The victims have shown a great degree of courage, persistence and determination in securing the conviction, having persevered with the allegation and supporting the police investigation.

"The victims have had to live with this trauma and the absolutely horrendous abuse they endured for the years they were under the control of Pirzada and will have to live with these memories for the rest of their lives.

"Pirzada used his level of trust as a religious leader to assault the girls. I would urge anyone who has been a victim of Pirzada to contact police - specially trained officers are there to support you."

Asiasta kertoivat muiden muassa BBC ja Guardian. Mies löytyi keskiviikkona Britannian keskiosissa Carlislen kaupungin pohjoispuolelta vihjesoiton perusteella. Tapaukseen liittyen on pidätetty 79-vuotias mies.

Viranomaisten mukaan vajasta löydetyn 58-vuotiaan miehen uskotaan joutuneen tekemään palkatonta työtä 16–17-vuotiaasta saakka. Vajassa oli hänen lisäkseen vain tuoli ja likaisia vuodevaatteita.

Miehen kerrotaan olleen löydettäessä "kuin jänis ajovaloissa" ja pitkästä vankeudesta traumatisoitunut. Viranomaiset eivät osanneet tuoreeltaan sanoa, oliko mies koskaan yrittänyt paeta.

Short Sentences for African Refugees Who Hacked Man's Head with Machetes

Two refugees from Somalia have received short sentences for splitting a man's skull and mutilating his hand in a machete attack in Melbourne, Australia.

Abdirizak Mohamed Scek, 25, and Said Abdirahman, 28, gave "no explanation" for their savage attack on Nathan Brett, who was left with "a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, and his finger hanging by a thread", according to the Daily Mail.

The court heard Brett was set upon by a group of African men armed with machetes while walking through a North Melbourne park after a party, shortly after having discovered a friend with a machete wound nearby and calling an ambulance for him.

The Australian fled from his attackers but was pursued all the way to the door of a friend's house, where he was given shelter.

Despite the 'no more soft sentences' headline in the Daily Mail report on the case — which suggested the migrants were given "more than ten years" by a "tough new female judge" — the prison terms handed down by the County Court of Victoria's Judge Sarah Dawes were actually fairly short.

Abdirahman was given five-and-a-half years, with the possibility of parole after serving three-and-a-half, and Scek was given four years and nine months, with the possibility of parole after serving two years and nine months.

An 18-year-old attacked passengers on a train in Feldkirch in Vorarlberg during the night on Saturday and injured them with a folding knife. The Afghan asylum seeker - immediately after he had boarded - went on a 27-year-old for no apparent reason. When other passengers tried to reassure the 18-year-old, he suddenly pulled the knife and injured a 44-year-old on his back.

The Afghan had previously been observed around 3 o'clock watching him cross the tracks twice as a train approached. Then he boarded the train to Bludenz and attacked the 27-year-old.

Heavily armed police units deployed to the German city of Cologne Monday after shots were reported to have been fired and a hostage taken at the city's central rail station.

Locally published newspaper the Koln Express reports a hostage was taken in a pharmacy inside the station and that fire engines were also called after officers responding to the incident smelt burning.

Shockingly, the paper also reports unconfirmed claims that the attacker attempted to set his hostage, a woman, on fire.

German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle reports two shots have been fired at the station, although it is unclear by who. Police have contacted the hostage taker.

A force spokesman told local television: "We need to find out what he wants, what his demands are and whether he carries a weapon."

There is presently no indication of the identity of the hostage taker, nor motive.

21-vuotias yliopisto-opiskelija Hannah Cornelius istui perjantai-iltana autossaan Stellenboschin kaupungissa Etelä-Afrikassa ja keskusteli ystävänsä Cheslin Marshin kanssa. Auto oli parkissa tien laidalla, kun hyökkääjät iskivät.

Miehet pakottivat Corneliuksen takapenkille ja sulloivat Marshin auton takaluukkuun. Sen jälkeen auto ajettiin Kapkaupungin esikaupunkialueelle Kraaifonteiniin. Hyökkääjät raiskasivat Corneliuksen ja puukottivat häntä. Lopuksi nuori nainen kuristettiin hengiltä.
