Worcester 'acid attack': Boy aged three injured

A three-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a suspected acid attack in a shop.

The boy was "deliberately attacked" at Home Bargains in Worcester at 14:15 BST on Saturday, West Mercia Police said.

He is being treated in hospital for serious burns to his arm and face.

A 39-year-old man from Wolverhampton has been arrested in connection with the incident at Shrub Hill Retail Park, Tallow Hill.

Ch Supt Mark Travis described it as a "deliberate attack". The city's MP said it was "horrific", while the city council leader described it as "pure evil".

Robin Walker, MP for Worcester, described the incident as "horrific".

"The shock will be universal. Anyone conducting such an attack on a small child is just appalling," he said.

"It's an issue which rightly there has been a lot of concern in Parliament and a move to toughen sentences for any kind of acid attack.

"But particularly the nature of this being a small child is very concerning indeed.

"At this stage the key thing is for the police to act quickly and see if they can track down the perpetrator and understand what's behind it, because it is an unthinkable thing to happen."

A spokeswoman for Home Bargains declined to comment on the attack.

However, Worcester City Council leader Marc Bayliss said it was "absolutely pure evil".

He said: "Worcester is not that sort of place. We are a quintessential small English city.

Tuollaiset ovat menettäneet kaikki inhimilliset oikeutensa. Police investigating a suspected acid attack on a three-year-old boy in Worcester on Saturday have arrested a fifth man in connection with the on-going investigation.

The man, aged 41, from  Wolverhampton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

Detective Inspector Jim Bayliss said: "Our officers are continuing to work extremely hard  on this investigation.

At this time we believe this to be an isolated incident and there is not a wider risk to the public."

A 39-year-old man from Wolverhampton and three men, aged 22, 25 and 26, from London have already been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and remain in custody at this time.

A mother whose three-year-old son was the victim of an acid attack had been hidden in a safe house after a messy break-up before the 'evil' and targeted hit, it emerged today.

The woman, believed to be from eastern Europe, had been living with her three children in a quiet residential street in Worcester for the past eight months after a relationship ended.

Her child suffered serious burns when a bright pink acid was thrown over him as he sat in his pushchair in the city's Home Bargains store on Saturday while his mother shopped.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the attack - and she is now in a safe house with her son under police protection amid fears they could be attacked again.

Three of the men were arrested 130 miles from Worcester in Walthamstow on Sunday and are reportedly eastern Europeans from the Romani community and accomplished bare-knuckle fighters, a neighbour in east London said.

One neighbour said there had been 'bad blood' caused by a family dispute and said the attack may have been launched over the end of a relationship with the three-year-old's mother, who could have been the true target.

The father of the three-year-old victim of an acid attack has been confirmed as one of the detainees being questioned after police suggested the assault was the result of a "community" dispute.

West Mercia Police confirmed to MailOnline that the 39-year-old man arrested on Sunday in Wolverhampton is the father of the toddler who had a corrosive substance thrown in his face in a homewares discount store in the cathedral city of Worcester on Saturday.

"He is still in custody. No charges as yet have been brought. This is an ongoing investigation," the police spokesman told the website.

The man, believed to be Eastern European, is being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

For legal reasons, the force has taken the decision not to name the defendants.

Following the incident the boy was taken to hospital with serious burns to his arm and face. He has since been discharged but the long-term implications of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The men will appear at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court this morning (Wednesday 25 July).

The names of four of the five men accused of conspiracy to commit GBH in connection with an acid attack on a boy, 3, have been revealed.

The boy suffered serious burns to his face and arm in the alleged incident at Home Bargains in Tallow Hill, Worcester on Saturday afternoon.

When the five men, three from London and two from Wolverhampton, were charged West Mercia Police said they would not be naming them 'for legal reasons'.

However, given they will shortly appear in court the names of four can be revealed for the first time.

The four men are: Adam Cech, 27, Jan Dudi, 25, and Norbert Pulko, 22, who are from Slovakia and live in London, and Afghan-national Jabar Paktia, 41, of Wolverhampton, West Midlands.

A 39-year-old man, who is the boy's father, cannot be named for legal reasons.

The boy was discharged from hospital on Sunday after treatment but the long-term implications of his injuries are as yet unknown.

The men are due to appear at crown court for a further hearing in the near future.

No one else was harmed in the incident on Saturday.

Naisten kivitykset, elävältäpolttamiset ja hapottamiset mm. kunniasyistä ovat varsin tavallisia. Kun tällaiset ihmiset tulevat länsimaihin, he tuovat takapajulan mukanaan. Heidän mielestään tämä on justiinsa oikea, suorastaan välttämätön tapa ratkaista riitoja.

Happohyökkäyksistä on tullut Britanniassa niin tavallisia, että kemikaalien myyntiä aiotaan rajoittaa.

Edelliseen päivitykseeni liittyen tuumailen, miltä tuntuisi, jos tällaisesta ilmiöstä pöyristyttäisiin yhtä laajasti kuin vaikkapa siitä, että joku sanoo internetissä jotakin. Että edistykselliset ihmiset marssisivat tuhatpäisenä kulkueena vaatien peliä poikki. Että meillä on unelma maailmasta, jossa naisten ja lasten kasvoille ei heitetä happoa.

Sellainen olisi niin outoa, että ei sitä oikeastaan osaa edes kuvitella."

Kahdet standardit ovat niin pahat, että poikkipuolisesta sanasta rynnätään kaduille riehumaan mutta naisia ja lapsia saa rauhassa hapottaa.
Tämä on yhteiskunnan sairautta jos mikä, ideologia kulkee kaikkien niiden arvojen yli ja ohi joiden perusteella ylipäätään ihmisyyttä on olemassa.
