Moottoripyörään piilotettu pommi räjähti maanantaina eteläisen Thaimaan Yalan provinssissa. Kolme ihmistä kuoli ja 24 haavoittui.

Etniset malaijit, jotka Thaimaa otti valtansa alle noin vuosisata sitten, ovat taistelleet autonomian puolesta. Valtaosa iskujen uhreista on ollut siviilejä.
Mikään ryhmittymä ei heti ottanut vastuuta iskusta, joka toteutettiin aamutorilla. Kuolonuhreista kaksi oli buddhalaisia ja yksi muslimi, uutistoimisto AFP raportoi. Olen käynyt tuolla alueella ja aika karua meininkiä on vuoronperään kostellaan toiselle. Oli moskeijaa palanut ja vastaavasti temppeliä. Niin tämä joskus noin 10 vuotta sitten pitihän se mennä katsomaan miltä siellä näyttää vaikka ei ulkoministeriö ei suositellut.

Noniin, "Ruåtsalainen" on leikkinyt lääkäriä jenkeissä. Siis oikeasti irakilainen ruåtsin passilla jolla perhettä jenkeissä. Jäi onneksi kiinni ennen kuin ehti tekemään mitään vaarallista. Viisumikin mennyt ressukalla vanhaksi. Jenkeissä sentään uutisoidaan vielä asiat oikein eikä sensuurin lävitse väritettynä.

Man accused of pretending to be anesthesiologist at local hospital

SAN DIEGO -- A man arrested for impersonating a Harvard-educated doctor at a local hospital pleaded not guilty in court Friday.
Jeorge told the manager that he was an anesthesiologist for Sharp Healthcare, but when she ran his name in the hospital database there was no record of him. He then told her he went to Harvard Medical School and was an intern working with a doctor at the hospital, but that story was also a lie.

In reality, Jeorge is a  27-year-old Iraqi national with a Swedish passport. He has family in San Diego.  His defense attorney says he legally entered the U.S. on a visa but it expired last month.

"Obviously when you have someone impersonating a doctor who has gained access to a hospital, they have the ability and obviously the mental capacity to think of certain things that could put the public's health in danger," said Reizen.

Tasaisen vauhdin taulukon mukaan raiskausten määrä on kaksinkertaistunut 7 vuodessa ja huitelee edelleen massiivista kasvua. Mihin ehtineekään, kun ei ihan nollasta lähtenyt.

Artikkelin perusteella vallitseva stereotypia on ollut USA:ssa päinvastainen, eli yleisen mutun mukaan sarjamurhaajat ovat melkein pelkästään valkoisia.   

Minullakin on se käsitys, että ainakin stereotypian mukaan sarjamurhaajat tuppaisivat olemaan valkoisia Yhdysvalloissa. Käytännössä tosin jonkin verran muitakin on ollut, mutta aika paljon kyllä valkoisia. Kannattaa muistaa, että ollakseen sarjamurhaaja, pitää olla riittävän varovainen ja harkitseva ja olosuhteet muutenkin otolliset sille, ettei jää liian nopeasti kiinni.

Esimerkiksi suuressa maassa lienee helpompi olla sarjamurhaaja, kuin pienessä, kun voi hukkua ihmismassan sekaan. Käytännössä voi olla hyödyllistä, jos ammatin takia liikkuu laajalti (esimerkiksi rekkakuski), jolloin voi kestää uhrien välisten suurten etäisyyksien vuoksi kauan, ennen kuin osataan edes, että kyseessä olisi sarjamurhaaja. Myöskin täytyy olla riittävän suunnitelmallinen, varovainen, huolellinen jne - jottei jää liian helposti kiinni, jolloin sarjamurhaajan ura pysähtyy ennen kuin se ehtii edetä yhtä tai kahta murhaa pidemmälle. Sekin voi hyödyttää, ettei ole liian epäilyttävältä vaikuttava.

Saksassa 15-vuotias poika on puukottanut 14-vuotiasta poikaa aamulla koulussa Lünenissä, lähellä  Dortmundia.

Uhri kuoli vammoihinsa koululla ennen kuin hänet ehdittiin kuljettaa sairaalaan. Tekijä otettiin kiinni pian puukotuksen jälkeen, kertoo Iltalehti lainaten useita saksalaislehtiä.

Koulu evakuoitiin tapauksen jälkeen, mutta ilmeisesti kyse ei ollut joukkosurman yrittämisestä, vaan riitaa oli ollut vain tekijän ja uhrin välillä.

Tapausta tutkii poliisin murharyhmä, eikä teon taustoja ole vielä ehditty selvittämään.

Oppilaille, koulun henkilökunnalle ja surmatun omaisille annetaan kriisiapua tapahtuneen vuoksi.

What a collective exhale of I-told-you-so and I-knew-something-was-wrong. When Joshua Boyle was arrested New Year's Day on charges of assault, sexual assault, forcible confinement, drugging, uttering death threats and misleading police, the news hit as an alarming coda to the strangest of stories.

Not that this specific development was expected, but that something — anything — might begin to explain the inexplicable, might unravel the couple's bizarre circumstance; something potentially revealing about Boyle, and his personality in particular, that brought him into the limelight.

There is certainly a lot about Joshua Boyle screaming for explication.

A wannabe spy for CSIS, raised in a rural, devoutly Christian southern Ontario home, the son of a federal court judge, who married and then divorced Zaynab Khadr, who once lived in Osama bin Laden's compound in Afghanistan, is only the start of his unusual attributes. His harrowing ordeal — taking his pregnant second bride, an American whom he met through a Star Wars gaming forum, backpacking through unstable Afghanistan where they were abducted and held hostage for five years until their rescue in October — is more perplexing still.

And now his arrest, on allegations that span the time since his return to Canada, less than two weeks after the Boyle family's cheery visit with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, caps the intrigue.

By then, Boyle seemed to be developing something of an obsession with the Khadr family. It was the war on terrorism that brought Boyle into the Khadr fold.

The so-called Toronto 18 case was electric. Sweeping police raids on June 2, 2006, nabbed 18 people accused of planning spectacular terrorist acts, including detonating truck bombs, shooting into crowds, storming the Parliament buildings and beheading Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

At early court appearances in Brampton, Ont., rooftop snipers and machine-gun toting tactical police officers watched surging crowds of family members, supporters, international media and gawkers.

At a time when Boyle's employment seemed itinerant — there are accounts of him working as a parking lot attendant and in the University of Toronto's library — Boyle started coming to court as well, friends said. He was solicitous and fawning to the Khadrs.

"He was hanging around the court, hanging out inside the courtroom, ingratiating himself with Zaynab and her mother," a Khadr friend said.

The Khadr family were told Boyle had previously applied to join the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Canada's spy agency. It made their supporters distrustful of his motives.

Their relationship continued to grow. They were married in early 2009, in a small ceremony officiated at Toronto City Hall. Her wedding to Boyle was different from Zaynab's previous two arranged marriages, including one attended by bin Laden.

Their relationship was not publicly known until a mysterious break-in and shooting at the home of Boyle's parents in 2009. The investigation revealed the connection and it was seen as a possible motive for the theft. It is believed the material stolen from Boyle's home were Khadr documents given to Boyle for his book.

"I love research," Boyle said in 2009 in an interview with the Globe and Mail after his marriage was revealed. "Anything related to terrorism on Wikipedia, I wrote, pretty much."

Richard Cronin, a British backpacker and adventurer, met Boyle and Coleman in a hostel in Kyrgyzstan in November 2012, when the couple was planning to head south-west into Afghanistan, Cronin wrote in his blog. Boyle rhapsodized about his plan, comparing the opportunity to Lawrence of Arabia and British explorer Richard Burton, famous for traveling to Mecca in disguise when Europeans were forbidden to visit.

In 2013, their families were shown two video messages from the couple being held captive by the Taliban-linked Haqqani network, a brutal, militant organization. In them, they ask for the U.S. government to free them and their baby.

Their ordeal was traumatic. The couple said the family was abused, beaten, Coleman raped, one of her pregnancies involuntarily terminated, moved often, and their three children born in captivity.

During his captivity Boyle was urged to join the Haqqani network — which he called "ghetto trash gangbangers" and "religious hypocrites" pretending to be Islamic militants in emails sent to the Toronto Sun after his release. Torontossa somali nimeltään Adam Abdi ampui parin viikon aikana tammikuussa seitsemää ihmistä, joita ei tuntenut eli ilmeisesti täysin sattumanvaraisesti. Kukaan ei onneksi kuitenkaan kuollut. Abdia odottaa 48 syytettä mm. murhan yrityksistä.

Man faces 48 charges in string of random Toronto shootings

A 20-year-old man is facing dozens of charges, including seven counts of attempted murder, in what police describe as a string of unprovoked, random shootings in Toronto that narrowly missed being fatal.

Toronto police said Tuesday that the man, who is in custody, allegedly worked his way through neighbourhoods in the northwest corner of the city over the past two weeks, opening fire on a total of seven victims ranging in age from four to 47.

None of the victims were known to each other or the accused, said Supt. Ron Taverner, describing the case as "disturbing" but saying the force is breathing a sigh of relief that things didn't turn out worse.

"We're lucky that we're not dealing with potentially seven homicides or more," Taverner said in a telephone interview. "I wish we could say we had a motive, but we don't."

Taverner said the string of shootings began on Jan. 9 as two teenagers were entering a residential building.

Taverner alleged that the accused, 20-year-old Adam Abdi of Brampton, fired multiple shots at the 19-year-old man and 15-year-old girl as they stood in the hallway. The girl was not hurt, while the man sustained undisclosed injuries, he said.

One hour later, however, a 19-year-old man was less fortunate, police said. Taverner alleged Abdi drove up beside the teen as he walked down the street, rolled down the window and opened fire. The 19-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital, Taverner said.

"It's mind-boggling, quite frankly," Taverner said. "We haven't been able to determine any motive whatsoever that these are other than random shootings."

Taverner said the weekend shootings produced some information about the suspect's vehicle, which allowed police to arrest Abdi at his home on Monday.

Abdi is facing a total of 48 charges, including seven counts of attempted murder.

Taverner said police are investigating potential links to other shootings. He noted that Abdi's arrest allows the force some breathing room to conduct their investigation.

"We can go about our business in investigating previous cases now and not be so concerned that this individual is going to be out shooting and possibly killing other people," he said.

Abdi appeared in a Toronto courtroom on Monday.

Academic Tariq Ramadan detained over rape allegations: report

Renowned Islamic scholar and Oxford professor Tariq Ramadan was detained in France following rape allegations made by two women, according to media reports.

Reuters reported Wednesday that Ramadan was detained after two complaints were filed against the scholar, who has been on leave from the University of Oxford since November, when the complaints were filed in France.

Ramadan denied the allegations and filed a complaint for slander against one of his accusers, Reuters said.

A pedophile of Muslim faith who raped a 13-year-old girl has been spared jail because he claimed his Islamic education did 'not condemn sex with children.'Adil Rashid, 18, was taught that women were "worthless" at the Islamic faith school he attended, also claiming that he was not aware it was illegal for him to have sex with a child because his education had left him 'ignorant' to British law.Judge Michael Stokes handed Rashid a forgiving suspended sentence, saying: 'Although chronologically 18, it is quite clear from the reports that you are very naive and immature when it comes to sexual matters.'

The judge said that Rashid was 'passive' and 'lacking assertiveness', and sending him to jail might cause him more damage than good.Rashid, who lured girl via Facebook to the Premier Inn hotel in Nottingham UK, had sex with her for two hours before returning home to a mosque to pray. He was arrested the following week after the girl confessed what had happened to a friend, who then informed the teachers.Rashid claimed he was 'reluctant' to have sex with the girl, even though he spent months seducing her over social media. Later, the court heard that Rashid had 'little experience of women' due to his Islamic education.
He then confessed to a psychologist that he was unaware that having sex with a 13-year-old was against the law, only finding out it was illegal after a family member told him.Rashid says he was taught that 'women are no more worthy than a lollipop that has been dropped on the ground'.Defence lawyer Laban Leake said reports suggested Rashid had a 'degree of sexual naivety'.'The school he attended, it is not going too far to say, can be described as a closed community and on this occasion, this was perpetuated by his home life.'It is not too far to say that he may not have known that having sex with a 13-year-old girl was illegal.' Uskomatonta settiä taas sumujen maan oikeuslaitokselta. Ei tuomita, koska kotona on "outo" kasvatustapa opetettu: uskonto ei tuomitse pedofiliaa.

An 18-year-old man who repeatedly raped a young woman at gunpoint has been jailed for 20 years. Police said Aquib Ahmed and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, operated as a 'twisted tag team' as they subjected the woman, who is in her 20s, to 'a disgusting, heartless attack'.

The pair broke into a house in the Fir Vale area of Sheffield in March last year looking for drugs and threatening the man and his daughter inside, South Yorkshire Police said.  But they realised they had targeted the wrong house as the occupants had no criminal or drugs connections. The pair returned three days later when they subjected the young woman to 'a disgusting, heartless attack'.

Detective Constable David Devey said: 'They returned to the house, purely for their own sexual gratification, where they threatened the man and his daughter at gunpoint before they each raped the young woman repeatedly. Sex Offender Migrant Arrested for Raping a 13-Year-Old Girl a Month After Prison Release

An 18-year-old Afghan asylum seeker has been arrested in the German city of Esslingen for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl, only a month after he was released from prison following a sex offence conviction.

The Stuttgart Public Prosecutor's Office and police in Reutlingen say that the asylum seeker committed the rape on Monday, but the 13-year-old victim did not report the incident until Wednesday after seeing the man again and being threatened by him, Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

Investigators say that the 13-year-old victim only recently became acquainted with the asylum seeker and that she had visited him on Monday when he forced her to have sexual intercourse with him.

The incident comes after the 18-year-old was released from juvenile detention following a conviction for attempted rape, which saw him sentenced to a year in custody.

He was allegedly out on parole at the time of the rape, though it is not clear what the exact conditions involved.

Sudanilainen pakolaismies on tuomittu Saksassa vankeuteen hänen nostettuaan pakolaisavustuksia yhdellätoista henkilöllisyydellä kahden vuoden aikana.

Saksassa yhdentoista henkilöllisyyden turvin avustuksia nostanut sudanilainen pakolainen on tuomittu kahden vuoden ja kahdeksan kuukauden vankilatuomioon. Mies loi itselleen useita henkilöllisyyksiä eri pakolaiskeskuksissa ja rahasti taskurahat yhdestätoista eri paikasta.

Oikeus näytti toteen, että mies rahasti vuosien 2015 ja 2016 aikana yhdellätoista eri henkilöllisyydellä eri pakolaiskeskuksista rahaa, jolla omien sanojensa mukaan tuki perhettään Sudanissa. Miehen aiheuttaman vahingon laskettiin olleen noin 70 000 euroa. Syyttäjä vaati miehelle kolmea vuotta ehdotonta vankeutta, josta oikeus vähensi neljä kuukautta miehen yhteistyöhalukkuuden nimissä hänen tunnustettuaan tekonsa ja kerrottuaan kaikki henkilöllisyytensä.

Oikeuden päätöksestä käy ilmi, että oikeuslaitos ei kyennyt selvittämään varmuudella miehen todellista henkilöllisyyttä. Vain miehen syntymävuosi ja -maa – 1990 ja Sudan – katsotaan varmistetuksi.

Epäilty huumekauppias vietiin sairaalahoitoon tiistaina sen jälkeen kun hän oli kolaroinut moottoripyörällään paettuaan poliisia.
Vähän tämän jälkeen noin 20 ihmistä teki rynnäkön sairaalaan, otti mukaansa huumekauppiaan ja pakeni autoilla.
Huumekauppiasta La Linea de la Concepciónin sairaalassa vartioineet poliisit eivät kuitenkaan käyttäneet aseita väkijoukkoa vastaan "estääkseen pahemman draaman syntymisen".
Huumekauppa on vakava ongelma Gibraltarin rajalla sijaitsevassa La Linean kaupungissa.

Espanjassa laajalti uutisoitu epäilty joukkoraiskaus tapahtui viime perjantaina Úbedan kaupungiissa sijaitsevassa koulurakennuksessa välitunnin aikana.

Sairaalahoitoon joutunut uhri on kertonut, että kyseessä ei ollut ensimmäinen kerta, kun hän joutui raiskatuksi koulupäivän aikana. Hänen mukaansa raiskaukset alkoivat jo kuukausia sitten.

Britannian poliisi epäilee kolmea miestä 200 ihmisen orjuuttamisesta

Britannian poliisi pidätti torstaina kolme miestä epäiltynä 200 siirtotyöläisen orjuuttamisesta, kertoo uutistoimisto Reuters. Viranomaisten mukaan kyseessä saattaa olla yksi Britannian suurimmista modernin orjakaupan muodoista.

Poliisin mukaan Cornwallissa Lounais-Englannissa sijaitsevalla maatilalla olleet ulkomaalaiset työntekijät saivat apua järjestön tekemän hyväntekeväisyystyön kautta. Työntekijät brittiläisellä kukkaviljelmällä olivat kotoisin lähinnä Liettuasta, Romaniasta ja Bulgariasta.

Pelastusarmeijan mukaan työntekijät olivat kertoneet olevansa orjuutettuja ja haluavansa apua. He kaipasivat laillista neuvontaa muun muassa asumisesta ja maahanmuuttoon liittyvistä asioista.

– On erittäin tärkeää, että kaikille uhreille annetaan mahdollisuus kertoa heidän kokemuksistaan ​​turvallisessa ympäristössä ja että apua saavat kaikki epätoivoisesti sitä tarvitsevat ja ansaitsevat, sanoi Kathryn Taylorin Pelastusarmeijasta.

Elinkautinen afganistanilaismiehelle - puukotti kristityksi kääntyneen neljän lapsen äidin Saksassa

Saksalainen oikeusistuin langetti elinkautisen Afganistanista kotoisin olleelle turvapaikanhakijalle, joka puukotti kuoliaaksi maanmiehensä, neljän lapsen äidin. Uutistoimisto AFP:n mukaan puukotuksen syynä oli naisen kääntyminen kristityksi.

A Somalian man has been jailed after he held a sharp piece of wood against a teenage girl's throat and raping her, saying that the victim could not be a virgin 'because you are white'.

Ahmed Abdoule, 33, told his victim 'my country would love you' following the brutal attack which has seen him jailed for 11 years.

The victim, who was known to Abdoule prior to the attack, 'cried and pleaded' with the savage rapist to let her go during the ordeal, Hull Crown Court heard.

The sickening pervert took the victim to his home and locked the door as she begged him to let her go.

Despite her pleas, Abdoule 'jabbed a sharp piece of wood into her stomach' and forced her upstairs. He then began his twisted attack on the teenager, holding the weapon against her throat as he raped her.

Judge Mark Bury told Abdoule: 'She told you she was a virgin to try and get you to stop.

'You said to her, "You cannot be, you are white".'

The court also heard that Abdoule ordered the girl not to look at him while he raped her and pulled her top over her face during the attack.

After he had finished raping her, he told his victim that he had 'liked it' and that she was 'not the only girl who was going to get punished'.

Abdoule, from east Hull, also told her that 'my country would love you'.

After he dropped the teenager away from his home, Abdoule gave the victim a new top to wear and told her to 'cherish it' and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about his attack.

Abdoule denied the accusations levelled against him but was found guilty in court and has been sentenced to 11 years behind bars.

The teenage victim said in her impact statement that she did not feel safe in her own home following the attack.

She said: 'I don't seem able to talk to boys or men anymore, as I feel uneasy doing so.
