New Orleansissa alustavasti tunnutan epäilevän rattijuoppoa (ainetta sen kummemmin arvailematta). Saksan miehestä on sanottu eksplisiittisesti, ettie maahanmuuttotaustaa. Motiivista ei ole sanottu mitään, jos edes tiedetään.

Eiköhän motiiviksi riitä väärä lääkitys tai sitten lääkkeiden ja siihen lisättynä huumavaat aineet tai alkoholi. Kun tuskin suomi on ainoa maa missä kaistapäät käyttää viinaa ja lääkkeitä sekaisin.

Daily Mailissa kerrotaan, että kaikki uhrit ovat romanialaisia autopesulan työntekijöitä. Tekijä oli ilmeisesti humalassa ja silminnäköijöiden mukaan teko oli tahallinen. Erään silminnäkijän mukaan tekijä oli "a well dressed black guy in his 30s".

Bloodied victims lie strewn across the pavement after 'a drink driver deliberately smashed into five Romanian car wash workers' leaving a man, 25, fighting for his life

- Car said to have left the road around 8:20am and crashed into pedestrians
- Five people have been taken to hospital, one is still in a critical condition
- A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving
- He was detained by an off-duty police officer before being arrested over crash
- Witnesses said the driver looked drunk and his actions appeared deliberate

Shocking footage has emerged of the moments after a Mercedes ploughed into five people, believed to be Romanian car wash workers, in a south London street.

The car left the road near Catford Bus Garage in Bellingham at 8:20am this morning and crashed into a group of people at a car wash. Witnesses said the driver's actions appeared to be deliberate.

Onlookers said a blood-covered man chased the driver down the street shouting 'f*** you' and 'why have you done this?' before police arrived.

One of the victims, a 25-year-old man, remains in a critical condition while two others, a 35-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, are described as 'serious but stable'.

A video of the aftermath of the incident shows members of the public rushing to help those mown down by the car.

The driver was detained by an off-duty police officer and was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

Two other men who were hit, aged 36 and 46, received injuries described as 'not life-threatening' and are in a stable condition.

The driver was himself taken to a south London hospital with a head injury.

Eyewitness Colin Liddell, 29, said: 'I saw the car turn around at the junction and then he put his accelerator to the floor and hit the bollard and five people before he hit the wall.

'He intended to hit them, he was giving it large after he got out the car. He was bleeding on his head and had run away, he ran round the corner before the police arrested him.'

The car's bonnet and boot were popped open by the impact, its airbags all deployed, while debris was strewn across the pavement.

Minasu Towolawi, 26, added: 'My brother and I were coming out of the house going to church and we heard screams.

'I went to look and I saw them there, there were two men on the floor not moving at all and others were around the woman.

'There was one guy with blood on his head and he was chasing a well dressed black guy in his 30s down the road with another guy.

'The guy was dressed in a leather jacket, all in black. The one with blood on his face was shouting "f*** you".

Ms Towolawi added: 'The guy, I think he may have been the driver, kept coming back and then the police chased him, he looked drunk.

'They were crying and wailing and trying to get their friends to wake up, they seemed really anguished.

'They were bleeding on their heads, the lady had blood all over her and the others were bleeding too.

'They had sat the last up and they were shaking her and saying her name over and over again.

'We think they are Romanians, they live in the car wash, you see them all the time going into the Costcutter in their night gowns.'

She added: 'I think the driver hit them on purpose, the Romanians are always around there, the car wash was running when it happened.

The Met Police have said there is no suggestion the incident is linked to terrorism.
