UKIP:in kannatus on valtakunnallisissa mittauksissa ollut nousussa paikallisvaalien jälkeen.

The Sun have tweeted out tonight's YouGov figures and they confirm the UKIP boost we saw in yesterday's poll. Topline voting intention is CON 27%, LAB 38%, LDEM 11%, UKIP 17%.

The 17 points for UKIP is, obviously, once again their highest. This has a knock on effect for Labour and the Conservatives: the Labour score of 38% is the lowest that YouGov have shown them at for over a year (the last time they were that low was February 2012), the Conservative score of 27% is the lowest YouGov have shown them this Parliament (and, indeed, ever – you have to go back to before YouGov started regular polling in 2002 to find that sort of level of Tory support).

Perussuomalaisten brittiläiselle sisarpuolueelle hirmuvoitto

Perussuomalaisten sisarpuolue Yhdistyneen kuningaskunnan itsenäisyyspuolue (engl. United Kingdom Independence Party, UKIP) sai järisyttävän vaalivoiton Ison-Britannian kunnallisvaaleissa perjantaina 3.5.2013. Vaalivoittoa voi todellakin kuvata Ison-Britannian "Jytkyksi", sillä vastaavaa nousua suurimpien puolueiden joukkoon ei saarivaltiossa ole nähty sitten toisen maailmansodan. Jaossa olleista noin kahdestatuhannesta valtuustopaikasta UKIP sai 147, kun vuoden 2009 vaaleissa paikkoja ei tullut kuin seitsemän.

Kunnallisvaalien jälkeen UKIP nousi kertaheitolla maan kolmanneksi suurimmaksi puolueeksi 23 prosentin potilla jaossa olleista valtuustopaikoista. Työväenpuolue sai 29 prosenttia äänistä, konservatiivipuolue 25. Vaalien suurin häviäjä oli konservatiivipuolue, joka menetti valta-asemansa kymmenessä valtuustossa. Konservatiivipuolue menetti paikkojaan UKIPille erityisesti maaseudulla, jossa konservatiivit ovat perinteisesti olleet vahvoilla. Myös työväenpuolue lisäsi kannatustaan ja vahvisti asemiaan brittipolitiikassa.

UKIP oli lähtenyt vaalitaistoon 1700 ehdokkaan voimin, joka oli kolme kertaa enemmän kuin vuoden 2009 kunnallisvaaleissa. Suurimmat äänisaaliit puolue kahmi Kentissä (17 paikkaa), Lincolnshiressa (16 paikkaa) ja Norfolkissa (15 paikkaa).

UKIP on brittiläinen, libertaristinen, euroskeptinen, konservatiivinen ja populistinen puolue, jonka tavoite on erottaa Iso-Britannia EU:n jäsenyydestä. UKIPilla on 13 paikkaa europarlamentissa, jossa se kuuluu Vapaa ja demokraattinen Eurooppa –ryhmään yhdessä perussuomalaisten kanssa. Konservatiivien oma oikeistosiipi on sitä mieltä, että "tarttis tehdä jotain" ja pelkona on, että loikkauksia alkaa tapahtumaan.

The latest fortnightly Opinium/Observer poll puts Labour on 39% (up 1%), the Tories on 28% (also up 1%), Ukip on 16% (down 3%) and the Liberal Democrats on 8% (up 2%).

Only Ukip came out well on the year-on-year question: 30% said they had a more positive of Nigel Farage's party against 25% who view them more negatively than 12 months ago.

DAVID CAMERON'S election strategist is planning a covert campaign to target UK Independence party councillors and has suggested that the Home Office's scheme for "go home" vans targeting illegal immigrants is flawed and has backfired.

Lynton Crosby, the Conservative party's campaign chief, wants to launch a "below-the-radar" operation to undermine UKIP politicians by catching them making embarrassing comments.

He plans to monitor every council meeting attended by UKIP members and to launch an in-depth investigation into all 139 of the party's newly elected councillors.

Crosby appears to be considering using third parties to assist and brief the press and has warned that the plan will be wrecked if anyone finds out the Tories are behind it.

In a further embarrassment for the prime minister, the straight-talking Australian has also attacked the government's "go home" vans aimed at illegal immigrants.

Pollwatch: Labour still on course for handsome majority

Here are this week's results. Topline voting intention figures are CON 32%, LAB 38%, LDEM 10%, UKIP 13%. If those figures were repeated at a general election then on a uniform swing (with all the caveats that implies), it would produce a Labour majority of about 76 seats (Con 238 seats, Lab 363 seats, Lib Dems 23 seats, others 26 (mostly Northern Ireland - UKIP would not win any seats on that level of support)). In practice the Conservatives would probably do a bit better than that because their MPs who were first elected in 2010 will enjoy the first time incumbency effect, and the Liberal Democrat may well be more resilient as their MPs do tend to benefit from more of a personal vote than those from other parties.

Exclusive: How the Tories plan to attack Ukip

Last week Lynton Crosby and David Cameron briefed Conservative MPs on the threat posed by Ukip. Their timing was impeccable: today's YouGov poll showing 19 per cent of Conservative members would seriously consider voting for Nigel Farage's party could have sent Tory MPs into orbit, but instead they have been reassured that the party has a proper plan to deal with the enemies to the right, rather than the messy 'fruitcake' strategy of the past few years.

I am told by a number of MPs who were present that Crosby talked generally about what attracts people to Ukip, rather than the specific problem of next year's European elections. This was based on polling the party has been carrying out. He told the meeting, which took place while the debate on James Wharton's EU referendum bill continued, that there were three reasons Conservative voters were turning their backs on the party: immigration, welfare, and the economy. The last reason was the most important driver, but the European Union was not the top reason. It is of course a contributing factor to other problems, particularly immigration.

Crosby and the Prime Minister said they were confident that these voters were quite easy to win back because the party is making progress on all three fronts: the green shoots popping up all over the place on the economic front and progress cutting the deficit; the flagship welfare reforms (and the regular hints from the top of the party that it would go much further on welfare without the restraining influence of the Liberal Democrats); and net migration falling by a third. The meeting heard that the Prime Minister and his colleagues at the top of the party will focus on getting those achievements across to voters in as many ways as they possibly can in the next few months.

But Crosby also highlighted Ukip's policy inconsistencies, and this will be another key line of attack for the Conservative party in the coming months. They have already tried to point out that while Ukip oppose HS2, their 2010 manifesto actually called for three high-speed rail lines. Another example to be deployed in the next few months will be road tolling, I hear. They want to be able to say that Ukip changes its mind like the wind or tides. Amusingly, Farage's party appears to be bracing itself for this onslaught with a disclaimer on the 2010 manifesto page of the Ukip website:

Tory MPs who attended the meeting were already in a good mood: in the preceding 24 hours they had enjoyed a parliamentary party photo involving Michael Gove pretending to be Speaker Bercow and mocking Philip Hammond, a barbecue in Downing Street that was better attended than most Conservative events since 2010, a stirring performance from James Wharton in the Chamber and the growing implosion of the Labour party. But they were reassured not only that these Ukip-facing voters are not irreconcilable, but also that their party has a proper plan to win them back that doesn't involve insults about fruitcakes. One said 'I wish David Cameron had been given all of this two years ago'.

Some Tories in marginal seats where the real problem is Labour stood up and told their colleagues that Ukip was a red herring. But Crosby responded that this might be the case for them, but Ukip does present a real problem in other constituencies. He reassured the meeting that Labour has a soft vote, as well. His aim appeared to be to give MPs a frequently-asked-questions presentation on Ukip so that the leadership doesn't need to keep answering the same questions over and over again at parliamentary party meetings.

Of course, it will need to return to the issue again, particularly as the European elections loom. Some MPs want a strategy that says the party won't sweat the euros while focusing on a good, reassuring result in the locals taking place at the same time. But for the time being, Conservative MPs seem to have been very reassured and cheered by Friday's meeting.

BRITANNIAN MAAHANMUUTTOVASTAINEN puolue Ukip, joka menestyi hyvin sunnuntain eurovaaleissa, oli alunperin liberaali ja maltillinen puolue. Jäseniksi haluavien piti sitoutua siihen, että puolue ei edistä rasismia eikä ennakkoluuloja ulkomaalaisia ja vähemmistöjä kohtaan.

Puolueen tavoite oli Britannian eroaminen EU:sta. Ukip ei tunnustanut Euroopan parlamentin laillisuutta eikä lähettänyt sinne edustajiaan.

Alan Skedin luoman uuden EU-vastaisen vasemmistopuolueen, New Dealin, linja on, että maahanmuutto ei ole Isolle-Britannialle ongelma, mutta maahanmuuttokeskustelu on. Puolueen ohjelmaluonnoksen mukaan maahanmuutto on "olennaisen tärkeää taloudellisesti vauraan ja sivistyneen yhteiskunnan kasvulle", eikä sillä siis ilmeisesti ole mainittavia haittapuolia, joiden vuoksi maahanmuuttoa pitäisi rajoittaa.

Professori Sked kaivetaan esiin, kun kaivataan otsikoihin kommenttia, jonka mukaan UKIP:ia johtavat fasistiset mielipuolet. Näyttää siltä että

- labour mädäntyy ja rappeutuu entisestään Britanniassa
- Skotlanti alkaa järjestämään 2. itsenäisyysreferendumia. Halusi muu Britannia sitä tai ei. Skotlanti lupasi viimeksi 2014, että sukupolveen ei järjestetä toista äänestystä, mutta Putin-Sturgeon järkännee sen silti. EU ja länsimaailma tukee Britannian hajoamista, koska niin saadaan Brexit kostetuksi.

Olen jonkin verran seurannut englantilaista henkeä, ja luulen että selkeä enemmistö taputtaa käsiään jos Skotlanti lähtee vittuun Britanniasta. Samoin Pohjois-Irlanti. Kumpaankin ollaan ns. vitun kyllästyneitä.

Itse kannatan tietysti Skotlannin itsenäistymistä, ja samalla kaikkea kostoa mitä Englanti siitä skoteille järkkää. Olen kansallisuusaatteen kannattaja. Kannatan kaikkia itsenäistymisiä ja siitä kostamisia.

Sadiq Khan sitten voitti uudestaan Lontoon pormestarin vaalit joten on se Lontoo varmaan sittenkin hyvä paikka asua ja elää kun äänestäjät ovat pormestariinsa tyytyväisiä.

Skotlannin vaaleissa kommunistinen kansallispuolue SNP sai lähes ehdottoman enemmistön. He pysty evät kuitenkin ajamaan läpi lain uudesta itsenäisyyskansanäänestyksestä.

Heidän kannattaisi järjestää se äänestys Englannissa. Toisin kuin jotkut luulevat, englantilaiset olisivat erittäin mielellään antamassa skoteille Itsenäisyyden. Ihan vain siksi että pääsisivät heistä eroon.
