The reason? The occasion was the annual anti-Israel Al Quds Day rally, and a group of culture enrichers took exception to having an unclean animal come so close to their women.

In response to the treatment of a man and his dog in Queen's Park on Al-Quds Day, Canadian dog-lovers organized an event called "Walk Your Dog in Front of Mosque Day" on September 14 in Scarborough, Ontario.

Needless to say, devout Muslims were offended by this initiative, and one of them responded by... Well, you know what devout Muslims tend to do when they're offended.

TORONTO - A Facebook page inviting people to walk their dogs outside an east-end mosque is becoming a hotbed of hostility.

Facebook administrators removed a post from the "Walk Your Dog in front of Mosque Day" page early Monday that threatened to throw attending dog owners in a "lake of fire" and shoot their beloved pooches on the spot. Posted by Ali Shirazi, who identified himself as an Iranian-born resident of Toronto, it was aimed at the dog owners who plan to attend the Sept. 14 event at the Salahuddin mosque and community centre.

By late Monday, the dog-walk page listed 114 planning to attend the event and 1,550 still invited to take part.

Abdul Ibrahim, chief administrator for the Salahuddin mosque, said they would be ready for whatever trouble the dog-walk might bring. "This is a community centre here, it has nothing to do with Al-Quds," said Ibrahim, adding that around 3,000 Muslims attend weekly. But Ibrahim also did not rule out the possibility of confrontation, and called on government for help.

"Let them come, then what will happen will happen."

Miksipä ei moskeijan edessä saisi ulkoiluttaa koiraa? Kunhan eivät tunkeudu koirineen moskeijaan sisälle. Silti hieman omituinen vastareaktio tuolle kiinniotolle niiden moskeijoiden kohdalla, joilla ei ole mitään tekemistä Al-Qudsin kanssa. Ensisijainen syyllinen ulkoiluttajan kaltoinkohtelulle oli sitä paitsi virkavalta.

Olen kuullut juorun kuinka nyttemmin mennyt edesmennyt legendaarinen Pekka Siitoin omasi mielenkiintoisen päivittäin toistuvan maagisen rituaalin.

Joka ilta hän Naantalissa kotikaupungissaan sotilaallisen täsmällisesti suoritti uniformussaan ja kiiltonahkasaappaissaan iltakävelynsä johon sisältyi ison saksanpaimenkoiransa kusettaminen ja paskattaminen tietyn ravintolan oven edessä, jonka portsarin kanssa valtakunnanjohtajalla oli ollut kovasti riitaa.
