Jussi Halla-ahohan on ihminen, minkä monet täällä aktiivisesti unohtavat. Ei hän ole Korkein Kaikkien Asioiden Tietäjä, niin ansioitunut kuin onkin. Minä en olisi äänestänyt puolesta, joku toinen ehkä olisi. Mutta yhteistä tälle kaikelle parlaäänestämiselle tuntuu olevan se, että se on ns. aivan sama.

Silloin kun keskustellaan tuhat sivuisesta sopimuksesta, joka käsittelee muuta kuin omaa erikoisalaa on ajattelun ulkoistaminen välttämätöntä.

Miksi siis juuri Halla-aho?

Tuo linkittämäsi kannanotto on muuten erikoinen. Miksi lista on täynnä sosiologeja ja uraansa aloittelevia tohtoriopiskelijoita (näistä suurin osa vielä yhden ja saman proffan alaisia)??

Varmaankin verkostoitumisesta johtuen. Tuskin ovat soitelleet jokaiseen yliopistoon aiheesta ihan tuntemattomille ihmisille. Sosiologia käsittelee myös yhteiskuntien rakenteita, ja ehkä näillä ihmisillä on vain kiinnostusta tuollaisiin asioihin. Näitä muuten oli kokonaista viisi kappaletta noin viidestä kymmenestä lukien mukaan myös sosiaalitieteiden laitokset. Vertailun vuoksi professoreita oli n. kymmenen. Mitä erikoista kannanotossa oli?

Väitän että hyvin harva noista on kahlannut sen sopimuksen läpi.

Mutta siltikö nimi paperiin? Sellaiseen, jota ei edes ymmärrä. Eihän siitä tunnu kukaan tietävän mitään, mikä onkin olennainen ongelma. Se on aika tärkeä paperi, joten eiköhän meppien pitäisi jättää kurkkujen mittailu vähemmälle hetkeksi ja perehtyä kunnolla ihan itse. Jos tekstistä ei saa selvää, niin sitten siinä on vikaa, eikä sitä pidä allekirjoittaa.

Niillä jotka puolestaan ovat kahlanneet on varmasti oma lehmä ojassa, minkä vuoksi laaja-alainen asiantuntijoiden kuuleminen on välttämätöntä. Uskon, että näin JHa on tehnyt.

Mikä on yliopistomaailman ihmisen oma lehmä verrattuna esim. poliitikon lehmään?

Edelleenkin, jos kerran kansainvälisen oikeuden professorin huoli oikeusnäkökulmasta on perusteeton, niin voisiko joku kertoa, miten. Eipä tuo Halla-ahokaan näytä viitsivän vastaata ongelmakohtiin, vaan vetoaa siihen, että kyllä hän tietää. Ei riitä minulle. Pitää ilmeisesti äänestää nyt vasemmistoliittoa. Olkoon vaikka Jeesuksen uusi tuleminen, mutta vastatkoon ihmisten esittämiin perusteltuihin huoliin. Edelleenkään ei ole muiden tehtävä osoittaa, että sopimuksessa on vikaa, vaan sitä kannattavien tehtävä on osoittaa, että siinä ei ole. Hehän sitä muutosta ajavat, joten perustelkoot sen, että se kannattaa hyväksyä ja että siitä ei tule epäiltyjä ongelmia. Näin perin tämän asiaan kuuluu mennä.

GMO-kasvit nimenomaan sisältävät jo itsessään semmoisia aineita että hyönteiset eivät niihin koske jolloin ne aineet päätyvät sitten sinun mahaasi ja siitä aiheutuu pitkällä tähtäimellä ehkäpä jotain mistä emme tälllä hetkellä voi tietää.

Ei pidä paikkansa. Miksi geenimuuntelu aiheuttaisi tällaista?

Fed a diet of Monsanto's Roundup-tolerant GM maize NK603 for two years, or exposed to Roundup over the same period, rats developed higher levels of cancers and died earlier than controls. Séralini suggested that the results could be explained by the endocrine-disrupting effects of Roundup, and overexpression of the transgene in the GMO.

This was scientific dynamite. It was the first time that maize containing these specific genes had been tested on rats over two years - nearly their full lifespan - as opposed to the 90-day trials demanded by regulators.

TTIP-sopimus siis sisältää investointisuojan eli jos joku maa huomaa että nämä entiset raja-arvot myrkyille ovat liian korkeita ja pienentää niiitä tai kieltää joidenkin esim. Monsanton aineiden käytön kokonaan huomattuaan että ne ovat myrkyllisiä niin siitä seuraa sitten korvausvastuuu Monsantolle tai muille myrkkyvalmistajille.

Korvausvastuu seuraa jos seuraa eikä se ole noin yksiselitteinen.

Jos TTIP olisi ollut voimassa kun DDT ja asbesti kiellettiin, mitään korvausvastuuta ei olisi seurannut valtiolta yhtiöille.

Sen sijaan jos kun Fennovoima saadaan pystyyn ja käytiin, niin varmasti tulee korvausvastuu jos Suomen valtio päättää pakkolunastaa voimalan itselleen. Tämän tyylisistä tempuista valtiot ovat saaneet nenilleen vapaakauppasopimusten välimiesoikeuksissa ja aivan syystä.

Jos TTIP olisi ollut voimassa niin korvausvastuu olisi seurannut jos suomessa olisi kielletty DDT ja Asbesti ja ne olisivat olleet vielä sallittuja jenkeissä.
Eihän DDT:tä ja Asbestia kielletty samaan aikaan kaikissa maissa vaan osassa kiellettiin ensin ja sitten muut seurasivat perässä kun niille tuli painetta että miksi meillä saa käyttää paskaa joka on muualla kielletty.

TTIP aiheuttaa sen että koska maat eivät yksinään uskalla kieltää myrkkyjä niin myrkyt sallitaan todennäköisesti pidempään käytössä ja jos suuressa maassa lobataan että ei tätä myrkkyä saa kieltää niiin sitten sitä ei kielletä missään eikä sille suurella maallekaan synny painetta kieltää kun ihmiset eivät voi ihmetellä että miksi joku asia ei ole kielletty meillä vaikka muualla on.

Mitä tulee teoreettiseen Fennovoiman pakkolunastukseen minkä esität esimerkkinä missä TTIP:stä olisi hyötyä niin toteat itsekin että vastaava pakkolunastus ei olisi mahdollista koska valtio saisi nenilleen vapaakauppasopimusten välimiesoikeuksissa eli TTIP ei tuo mitään uutta eikä mitään parannusta tämänlaisiin järkeviin asioihin.

Osa viljelijöistä viljelee perinteisiä siemeniä joita voi ostaa mistä vain tai kerätä talteen omalta pelloltaan ja istuttaa seuraavana vuonna uudelleen tai myydä muille maanviljelijöille.

Luonnossa käy niiinkuin luonnossa käy eli Monsanton siemenet leviävät naapuripelloille.
Monsanto haastaa naapuripellon viljelijän oikeuteen siemeniensä luvattomasta käytöstä.

Monsanto ei ole nostanut tällaisia oikeusjuttuja.

Joitain oikeusjuttuja on, joissa viljelijä on tavalla tai toisella saanut käsiinsä Monsanton RoundUp-ready siementä ja tietoisesti viljellyt niitä vuosikausia maksamatta rojalteja. Tästä on oikeus ja kohtuus joutua korvausvastuuseen. Nämä rojaltimaksut eivät ole mitenkään GMO-siementen ominaisuus vaan se on läsnä myös perinteisesti jalostetuissa lajikkeissa (TOS-maksu Suomessa).

Jos tulee yli 1% sekoittuminen niin Monsanto nimenomaan haastaa sut oikeuteen ja on kieltäytynyt lupaamasta sitovasti edes että alle 1% sekoittumista ei haasteta oikeuteen.
Kirjoittavat vain webbbisivuillaan että alle 1% sekoittumisesta eivät haasta oikeuteen mutta jos tulee yli 1% sekoittuminen niin olet kusessa.

Tämä asia herättää niin paljon huolta jenkeissä että maanviljelijät ovat käyneet oikeutta etukäteen Monsantoa vastaan kollektiivina että voisivat edes olla varmoja että jos tapahtuu alle 1% sekoittuminen niin eivät joutuisi yksittäisenä viljelijänä maksamaan satojen tuhansien taalojen asianajajalaskuja ja korvauksia Monsantolle.

Monsanto Co. on Monday won another round in a legal battle with U.S. organic growers as an appeals court threw out the growers' efforts to stop the company from suing farmers if traces of its patented biotech genes are found in crops.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a previous ruling that found organic growers had no reason to try to block Monsanto from suing them as the company had pledged it would not take them to court if biotech crops accidentally mix in with organics.

Organic farmers and others have worried for years that they will be sued by Monsanto for patent infringement if their crops get contaminated with Monsanto biotech crops.

In its ruling Monday, the appellate court said the organic growers must rely on Monsanto assurances on the company's website that it will not sue them so long as the mix is very slight.

"Monsanto's binding representations remove any risk of suit against the appellants as users or sellers of trace amounts (less than one percent) of modified seed," the court stated in its ruling.

Monsanto officials applauded the ruling.

"The assertion that Monsanto would pursue patent infringement against farmers that have no interest in using the company's patented seed technology was hypothetical from the outset," the company said in a statement issued Monday.

Monsanto has developed a reputation for zealously defending patents on its genetically altered crops, which include patented "Roundup Ready" soybeans, corn and cotton, genetically altered to tolerate treatments of its Roundup weedkiller.

The crops are widely used in the United States and Latin America. It has proven difficult to keep the genetic alteration from contaminating non-biotech crops, as recently occurred in a wheat field in the U.S. state of Oregon.

The group of more than 50 organic farmers and seed dealers sued Monsanto in March 2011 seeking to prohibit Monsanto from suing them if their seed and crops become contaminated.

Monsanto officials specifically refused to sign a covenant stating it would not sue the growers, but the court said the website statement was sufficient and would be binding.

Andrew Kimbrell, a lawyer with the Center for Food Safety, which joined as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, said the decision made no sense.

"It is a very bizarre ruling that relies on a paragraph on a website," he said. "It is a very real threat to American farmers. This is definitely appealable."

In its ruling Monday, the court noted that records indicate a large majority of conventional seed samples have become contaminated by Monsanto's Roundup resistance trait.

Monsanto filed 144 patent-infringement lawsuits against farmers between 1997 and April 2010, and won judgments against farmers it said made use of its seed without paying required royalties.

Many U.S. farmers have said their fields were inadvertently contaminated with Monsanto's biotech seeds without their knowledge. The issue has been a topic of concern for not only farmers, but also companies that clean and handle seed.

Muita epäterveitä vaikutuksia Monsantosta on että koska pelloille voidaan levittää kerralla niin suuri määrä myrkkyjä niin niistä jää suuren kertalevityksen takia enemmän jäämiä maahan jolloin ei-Monsanto siementen viljeleminen kyseisessä maassa voi olla vaikeaa.

Miksi kukaan levittäisi peltoon enemmän myrkkyä kuin on tarpeen? Myrkky maksaa eikä lisää satoa. Lannoitteet lisäävät.

Pointti on että koska GMO-kasvit kestävät kyseistä myrkkyä paremmin niin sitä voidaan laittaa enemmän kerralla jolloin ei tarvitse myrkyttää rikkaruohoja montaa kertaa.

Valitettavasti vain osa rikkaruohoista ja tuholaisista on tullut vaastuskykyisiksi jolloin sitä tietenkin sitten tungetaan entistä enemmän.

Monsanto's Roundup Found in 75% of Air and Rain Samples

A new U.S. Geological Survey has concluded that pesticides can be found in, well, just about anything.

GreenMedInfo reports new research, soon to be published by Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry journal, discovered the traces over a 12-year span from 1995-2007.

In recent years, Roundup was found to be even more toxic than it was when first approved for agricultural use, though that discovery has not led to any changes in regulation of the pesticide. Moreover, Roundup's overuse has enabled weeds and insects to build an immunity to its harsh toxins.

To deal with the immunity issue, Monsanto's solution has been to spray more and stronger pesticides to eliminate the problem.

The health effects of Roundup are also hard to ignore as research has linked exposure to the pesticide to Parkinson's disease and various cancers.

For instance, children in Argentina, where Roundup is used in high concentrations, struggle with health problems, with 80 percent showing signs of the toxins in their bloodstreams.

But not this year.

On a recent afternoon here, Mr. Anderson watched as tractors crisscrossed a rolling field — plowing and mixing herbicides into the soil to kill weeds where soybeans will soon be planted.


Just as the heavy use of antibiotics contributed to the rise of drug-resistant supergerms, American farmers' near-ubiquitous use of the weedkiller Roundup has led to the rapid growth of tenacious new superweeds.


To fight them, Mr. Anderson and farmers throughout the East, Midwest and South are being forced to spray fields with more toxic herbicides, pull weeds by hand and return to more labor-intensive methods like regular plowing.

"We're back to where we were 20 years ago," said Mr. Anderson, who will plow about one-third of his 3,000 acres of soybean fields this spring, more than he has in years. "We're trying to find out what works."

Farm experts say that such efforts could lead to higher food prices, lower crop yields, rising farm costs and more pollution of land and water.

"It is the single largest threat to production agriculture that we have ever seen," said Andrew Wargo III, the president of the Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts.

The first resistant species to pose a serious threat to agriculture was spotted in a Delaware soybean field in 2000. Since then, the problem has spread, with 10 resistant species in at least 22 states infesting millions of acres, predominantly soybeans, cotton and corn.

The superweeds could temper American agriculture's enthusiasm for some genetically modified crops. Soybeans, corn and cotton that are engineered to survive spraying with Roundup have become standard in American fields. However, if Roundup doesn't kill the weeds, farmers have little incentive to spend the extra money for the special seeds.

Roundup — originally made by Monsanto but now also sold by others under the generic name glyphosate — has been little short of a miracle chemical for farmers. It kills a broad spectrum of weeds, is easy and safe to work with, and breaks down quickly, reducing its environmental impact.

Sales took off in the late 1990s, after Monsanto created its brand of Roundup Ready crops that were genetically modified to tolerate the chemical, allowing farmers to spray their fields to kill the weeds while leaving the crop unharmed. Today, Roundup Ready crops account for about 90 percent of the soybeans and 70 percent of the corn and cotton grown in the United States.

But farmers sprayed so much Roundup that weeds quickly evolved to survive it. "What we're talking about here is Darwinian evolution in fast-forward," Mike Owen, a weed scientist at Iowa State University, said.

Now, Roundup-resistant weeds like horseweed and giant ragweed are forcing farmers to go back to more expensive techniques that they had long ago abandoned.

Mr. Anderson, the farmer, is wrestling with a particularly tenacious species of glyphosate-resistant pest called Palmer amaranth, or pigweed, whose resistant form began seriously infesting farms in western Tennessee only last year.

Pigweed can grow three inches a day and reach seven feet or more, choking out crops; it is so sturdy that it can damage harvesting equipment. In an attempt to kill the pest before it becomes that big, Mr. Anderson and his neighbors are plowing their fields and mixing herbicides into the soil.

That threatens to reverse one of the agricultural advances bolstered by the Roundup revolution: minimum-till farming. By combining Roundup and Roundup Ready crops, farmers did not have to plow under the weeds to control them. That reduced erosion, the runoff of chemicals into waterways and the use of fuel for tractors.

If frequent plowing becomes necessary again, "that is certainly a major concern for our environment," Ken Smith, a weed scientist at the University of Arkansas, said. In addition, some critics of genetically engineered crops say that the use of extra herbicides, including some old ones that are less environmentally tolerable than Roundup, belies the claims made by the biotechnology industry that its crops would be better for the environment.

"The biotech industry is taking us into a more pesticide-dependent agriculture when they've always promised, and we need to be going in, the opposite direction," said Bill Freese, a science policy analyst for the Center for Food Safety in Washington.

So far, weed scientists estimate that the total amount of United States farmland afflicted by Roundup-resistant weeds is relatively small — seven million to 10 million acres, according to Ian Heap, director of the International Survey of Herbicide Resistant Weeds, which is financed by the agricultural chemical industry. There are roughly 170 million acres planted with corn, soybeans and cotton, the crops most affected.

Roundup-resistant weeds are also found in several other countries, including Australia, China and Brazil, according to the survey.

Monsanto, which once argued that resistance would not become a major problem, now cautions against exaggerating its impact. "It's a serious issue, but it's manageable," said Rick Cole, who manages weed resistance issues in the United States for the company.

Of course, Monsanto stands to lose a lot of business if farmers use less Roundup and Roundup Ready seeds.

"You're having to add another product with the Roundup to kill your weeds," said Steve Doster, a corn and soybean farmer in Barnum, Iowa. "So then why are we buying the Roundup Ready product?"

Monsanto argues that Roundup still controls hundreds of weeds. But the company is concerned enough about the problem that it is taking the extraordinary step of subsidizing cotton farmers' purchases of competing herbicides to supplement Roundup.

Monsanto and other agricultural biotech companies are also developing genetically engineered crops resistant to other herbicides.

Bayer is already selling cotton and soybeans resistant to glufosinate, another weedkiller. Monsanto's newest corn is tolerant of both glyphosate and glufosinate, and the company is developing crops resistant to dicamba, an older pesticide. Syngenta is developing soybeans tolerant of its Callisto product. And Dow Chemical is developing corn and soybeans resistant to 2,4-D, a component of Agent Orange, the defoliant used in the Vietnam War.

Still, scientists and farmers say that glyphosate is a once-in-a-century discovery, and steps need to be taken to preserve its effectiveness.

Glyphosate "is as important for reliable global food production as penicillin is for battling disease," Stephen B. Powles, an Australian weed expert, wrote in a commentary in January in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The National Research Council, which advises the federal government on scientific matters, sounded its own warning last month, saying that the emergence of resistant weeds jeopardized the substantial benefits that genetically engineered crops were providing to farmers and the environment.

Weed scientists are urging farmers to alternate glyphosate with other herbicides. But the price of glyphosate has been falling as competition increases from generic versions, encouraging farmers to keep relying on it.

Something needs to be done, said Louie Perry Jr., a cotton grower whose great-great-grandfather started his farm in Moultrie, Ga., in 1830.

Georgia has been one of the states hit hardest by Roundup-resistant pigweed, and Mr. Perry said the pest could pose as big a threat to cotton farming in the South as the beetle that devastated the industry in the early 20th century.

"If we don't whip this thing, it's going to be like the boll weevil did to cotton," said Mr. Perry, who is also chairman of the Georgia Cotton Commission. "It will take it away."

Kun sen geenimuuntelun tarkoituksena on katsos saada se kasvi kestämään voimakkaampia myrkkyjä ja sitten kun se myrkky jää siihen kasviin niiin se päätyy sun elimistöön.

Mitä enemmän paskaa sulla on elimistössäsi niin sitä huonompi sun keholle ja hedelmällisyydelle.

Mounting evidence that GMO crops can cause infertility and birth defects

The endocrine disrupting properties of glyphosate can lead to reproductive problems: infertility, miscarriage, birth defects, and sexual development (see notes). Fetuses, infants and children are especially susceptible because they are continually experiencing growth and hormonal changes. For optimal growth and development, it is crucial that their hormonal system is functioning properly.

There are increasing reports of glyphosates and glyphosate formulations causing sexual dysfunction, low birth weight, fewer births and sterility in laboratory animals, farm animals and humans (see notes). A Russian study found that feeding hamsters GMO soy resulted in complete sterility after two or three generations.

Glyphosate was first marketed in 1976 and its use has exploded since the advent of glyphosate-resistant, genetically engineered (GE) crops in 1995. The herbicide-resistant GE crops absorb glyphosate through direct application and from the soil and it cannot be washed off. It is in the food.

Infertility

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the number of women ages 15-44 with impaired ability to have children is 6.7 million (10.9%). The number of women ages 15-44 who have ever used infertility services is 7.4 million. According to the graph (see slide show) showing results for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), the number of live births resulting from ART increased 113% from 1999 to 2008. Since ART is expensive and not generally covered by medical insurance, infertility issues affect many more people than this graph shows.

Birth Statistics

In the U.S., both the percentage of preterm births and babies born with low birth weight have been slowly increasing since 1990, more steeply increasing from 1995 to 2006 and declining slightly since then (see slide show). The percentage of preterm births (less than 37 weeks of gestation) rose 21% from 1990 through 2006 (16% from 1995-2006) and has since declined but is still 10% higher than in 1990. The percentage of babies born with low birth weight (LBW, less than 5lb 8oz.) rose 19% from 1990-2006 (14% from 1995-2006) and have also declined slightly since then but are still 17% higher than in 1990.

Interestingly, a report by Hamilton et al. for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) shows a drop in both the fertility and birth rates in the U.S. since 2007. Perhaps the women at highest risk are no longer able to become pregnant.

The infant mortality rate in the U.S. has been steadily dropping for decades, until 2000. According to the CDC, the infant mortality rate dropped 40% from 1980 to 1995 and 19% from 1995-2010 with no drop in the period from 2000-2005. It has dropped less than half as much in the last 15 years as in the previous 15 years.

The second highest cause of infant mortality is complications due to preterm birth or low birth weight. This, along with maternal complications of pregnancy were both increasing, along with the increase in preterm births and LBW in live births. There has been conjecture that LBW and preterm births may be due to the increase in ART births, since multiple births are more likely to result and these problems are more common in multiple births. This cannot be the case because the ART graph shows that the number of multiple births did not change from 2002 to 2006, during the period of steepest increase.

The slight drop in these statistics since 2006 may be because of growing awareness at that time of endocrine disrupting BPA (bisphenol-A) & phthalates in plastics. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, passed in 2008, banned the use of phthalates in children's products.

Only one generation has passed since the introduction of GE crops so it may be a bit early for the full effects to become apparent but the data trends are showing that strange things are happening.

Birth defects

The leading cause of infant mortality in the U.S. is congenital birth defects. There have been reports that glyphosate is toxic to placental, umbilical and embryonic cells (see notes). The placenta, via the umbilical chord, is responsible for delivering vital nutrients and eliminating waste products to and from the fetus. Once the placenta and/or umbilical has been damaged or destroyed, the result can be miscarriage or birth defects. Birth defects due to exposure to glyphosate and glyphosate formulations have been reported for amphibians and for humans (see notes).

Research at Johns Hopkins University shows that women with thyroid disease are at a high risk of delivering infants with birth defects. Strong correlation was shown between cancer of the thyroid and glyphosate use on corn and soy crops and that thyroid cancer affects women more than men.

Birth defects have not been increasing in the U.S., but in the soy-producing regions of Argentina, they have been skyrocketing. In 2010 the University of Cordoba released a report showing that the incidence rate of birth defects in South America has increased by 347% from 1997 to 2008, which they claim is linked to areal spraying of glyphosate on soy crops. People in Argentina began reporting problems in 2002, two years after the first big harvests of GM Roundup Ready soy. "San Jorge in Santa Fe, San Nicolás in Buenos Aires, Ituzaingó neighborhood in Córdoba, and La Leonesa in Chaco, are only some of the places where the increased number of cancer cases, birth defects, reproductive and endocrine disorders, have been suffered and detected ever since systematic pesticide spraying has become commonplace."

There are many endocrine disrupting chemicals in our environment and in our food. The huge increase in the amount of glyphosate applied to GE food and feed crops has significantly increased our exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals. Much more research is needed to study the effects.

In 1995 Yousef et al. reported on toxic effects of glyphosate on semen characteristics in rabbits, "Pesticide treatment resulted in a decline in body weight, libido, ejaculate volume, sperm concentration, semen initial fructose and semen osmolality. This was accompanied with increases in the abnormal and dead sperm."

In 2002 Markaverich et al. found that, "Housing adult rats on ground corncob bedding impedes male and female mating behavior and causes acyclicity in females."

In 2008, Austrian researchers found that mice fed GM corn produced fewer and smaller babies than those fed a non-GM diet.

In April 2010, a Russian study found that after feeding hamsters GM soy for two years over three generations, most were sterile by the third generation.

2011 Siepmann et al. reported, "Hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction associated with soy product consumption," in a 19-year old male (who was also diabetic). Unfortunately, they didn't make the connection that the soy was almost certainly GE.

In 2012 Antoniou et al. published a review of the evidence of the reproductive toxicity of glyphosate herbicides and concluded that a new and transparent risk assessment needs to be conducted.

In 2012 Irina Ermakova reported low birth weight and a 55.6% mortality rate in the babies of rats fed GMO soy compared to 6.8% in the control group.

Farm animals:

An Iowa pig farmer reports sterility and false pregnancies in pigs fed GMO corn.

ADanish pig farmer reports birth defects, infertility and low birth rate in pigs fed GMO corn. (English version).

Humans:

In 2001 Arbuckle et al, reported on the effect of pesticide exposure on the risk of spontaneous abortion in Ontario. "For late abortions, preconception exposure to glyphosate ... was associated with elevated risks. Postconception exposures were generally associated with late spontaneous abortions. Older maternal age (> 34 years of age) was the strongest risk factor for spontaneous abortions, and we observed several interactions between pesticides in the older age group."

In 2005, Richard et al. reported that "glyphosate is toxic to human placental JEG3 cells within 18 hr with concentrations lower than those found with agricultural use, and this effect increases with concentration and time or in the presence of Roundup adjuvants."

In 2009, Benachour et al. evaluated the toxicity of four glyphosate-based herbicides in Roundup formulations on three different human cell types using a dilution far below agricultural recommendations and corresponds to low levels of residues found in food or feed. They reported that glyphosate formulations induce apoptosis and necrosis in human umbilical, embryonic, and placental cells.

Amphibians:

In 2010, Paganelli et al. injected low doses (lower than levels used in fumigating) of glyphosate into amphibian embryos and recorded brain, intestinal and heart defects in the fetuses. Effects included reduced head size, genetic alterations in the central nervous system, increased death of cells that help form the skull, deformed cartilage, eye defects, and undeveloped kidneys. In addition, the glyphosate was not breaking down in the cells, but was accumulating. According to the authors these results are "completely comparable to what would happen in the development of the human embryo."

Humans:

In 2009, Mesnage et al. reported two cases of birth defects in the same family in France after multiple pesticide exposure. "Many pesticides were used by this family around pregnancies. The father sprayed, without protection, more than 1.3 tons of pesticides per year including 300 liters of glyphosate based herbicides."

In 2009, Winchester et al., reported, "Elevated concentrations of agrichemicals in surface water in April–July coincided with higher risk of birth defects in live births with LMPs [last menstrual periods] April–July."

GMO crops increase pesticide use
Contrary to claims made by the chemical industries, glyphosate use increased 6,504% from 1991 to
2010 according to data from the USDA: National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). States
participating in the USDA surveys reported applying a whopping 91,200 tons (1 rail car holds
approximately100 tons) of glyphosate on corn, cotton and soy crops alone in 2010 (see graph).
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup™, the herbicide used on Roundup Ready™ crops
genetically engineered (GE) to withstand glyphosate. Glyphosate residues of up to 4.4 mg/kg have
been detected in stems, leaves and beans of glyphosate-resistant soy, indicating metabolism of the
herbicide. This means that the Roundup Ready™ plants are absorbing the herbicide and you cannot
simply wash it off.

Glyphosate is showing up everywhere
In a 2011 study by the U.S. Geological Survey, glyphosate was frequently detected in water, rain and
air in the Mississippi River basin. Also in 2011, Chang et al. reported concentrations of glyphosate in
air and rain as high as 2.5 μg/L in agricultural areas in Mississippi and Iowa. The presence of two
insecticides and 27 herbicides were detected in reservoir water in the Northern Great Plains in 2007,
according to Donald et al. The total concentration of herbicides in drinking water was 2.4 μg/L.
Because glysophate is in our air, water and food, we are likely accumulating low doses over time.

Overall pesticide use on GMO crops is increasing
"Pesticide" is a broad term encompassing both herbicides and insecticides. The graph showing the
percentage of the combined total acreage of corn, cotton and soy treated with herbicides shows an
overall increase of 6% from 1990 to 2010. There was also a 1,722% increase in the percentage of acres
treated with glyphosate, primarily used to treat GE glyphosate-resistant crops. This leads to the
conclusion that the overall increase in herbicide use is due to the increase in glyphosates. The

While the percentage of crops treated with herbicides is increasing, the application rate in lbs/acre of
active ingredient has also increased for glyphosate, meaning that more of the product has been applied
more often over time. This is probably due to the increase in glyphosate-resistant weeds, or "superweeds,"
shown in the first graph. The chemical industry's solution is to engineer varieties resistant to
stronger herbicides, 2,4-D and dicamba. Indeed, the FDA has already approved three two for soy and
one for corn. The total herbicide application rate did decline from 1997-2000, but then rose steadily
until it again reached pre-GMO crop rates.

What is an endocrine disruptor?
The endocrine system controls the body's chemical messages through hormones. Hormones are
secreted directly into the blood by the endocrine glands: pineal, hypothalmus, pituitary, adrenal,
thyroid, thymus, pancreas, ovaries and testes. The glands release carefully measured amounts of
chemicals into the bloodstream to regulate important functions including growth and development,
reproduction, healthy weight, mood and organ performance. An endocrine disruptor is a chemical that
either mimics or blocks hormones and disrupts the body's normal functions. This disruption can happen
through altering normal hormone levels, halting or stimulating the production of hormones, or
interacting directly with the organ the hormone was meant to regulate. Because hormones work at very
small doses, endocrine disruption can occur from low-dose exposure to hormonally active chemicals.
Low doses over long periods of time may lead to very serious illnesses.

What are the effects of endocrine disruption?
Endocrine disruptors can lead to failure in all systems in the body that are controlled by hormones.
Imbalances and malfunctions of the endocrine system can lead to diabetes, kidney disease,
hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, Cushing's syndrome, hypo- and hyperthyroidism, infertility, birth
defects, erectile dysfunction, cancer (breast, prostate, liver, brain, thyroid, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma),
sexual development problems, neurological disorders (learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder,
autism, dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, schizophrenia) among others. Endocrine disruptors are
especially damaging to growth in fetuses, babies and children.

Mounting evidence that GMO crops can cause infertility and birth defects
The endocrine disrupting properties of glyphosate can lead to reproductive problems: infertility,
miscarriage, birth defects, and sexual development (see notes). Fetuses, infants and children are
especially susceptible because they are continually experiencing growth and hormonal changes. For
optimal growth and development, it is crucial that their hormonal system is functioning properly.
There are increasing reports of glyphosates and glyphosate formulations causing sexual dysfunction,
low birth weight, fewer births and sterility in laboratory animals, farm animals and humans (see notes).
A Russian study found that feeding hamsters GMO soy resulted in complete sterility after two or three
generations.
Glyphosate was first marketed in 1976 and its use has exploded since the advent of glyphosateresistant,
genetically engineered (GE) crops in 1995. The herbicide-resistant GE crops absorb
glyphosate through direct application and from the soil and it cannot be washed off. It is in the food.

Tutkimus ja elven archer ovat oikeassa! Kaikki mikä palvelee megayhtiöitä on kansallismielisyyttä vastaan. Globalisaationkin hyödyt ovat hyvin kyseenalaisia. Kun elimme impivaarassa 80-lukua oli elintaso vähintäänkin yhtä korkea kuin nyt ja puhutaan vain työssä käyvistä, nykyiset työttömät ovat lähinnä kurjallistoa. Älypuhelin, intternetti ja muut lelut ovat tietenkin kivoja mutta "hardware"-puolella on tullut jo 30 vuotta takkiin vaikka tekniikka on kehittynyt koko ajan. Korvaako tabletti kunnollisen koulun tai älypuhelin hyvän asunnon?

"Talouskasvu" on koitunut ainoastaan raha- ja virkaeliitin eduksi, muruset lakaistaan neekereille.

Tämä kehitys ei ole sattumaa vaan mädätystyön tulos, Suomea johtava kok-vas Puolue panee vain toimeen annetut käskyt. Käskyt joita ei välttämättä anneta koukkunokkien toimista jossain bilderbergissä vaan hallittujen pitkäkestoisten prosessien kautta.

Tämä tarkoittaa sitä että megayhtiöt, useimmat poliitikot ja virkaeliitti ovat kansan vihollisia ja niin niihin tulisi suhtautua. Kun kerran älykkäämpi fraktio vasemmistostakin ajattelee näin niin se on minun mielestäni vain hyvä asia. Tämä kaikki näkyy sitten siinä JH-a:n äimistelemässä "ääri"oikeiston ja -vasemmiston yhteisessä linjassa joissakin kysymyksissä. Itse asiassa jos vasemmalle muodostuu voima jolla on järkevä kanta maahamuuttoon niin mikei laajempikin yhteistyö voisi olla mahdollista? Joku Esko Seppänen on taatusti kansallismielisempi poliitikko kuin yksikään kepu-kokkari.

Tai paskat mitään yhteistä politiikkaa löytyy. Kaikki päättyy kehitysmaalaistamisen voittoon, demokratian loppuun ja siihen että ulkomaalaiset palkkasotilaat lahtaavat kämyjä

Maahanmuuttokriittisyys tulee voittamaan sillä se ei ole sidottua tiettyihin poliitikkoihin vaan rakkauteen suomea, suomalaisuutta, suomalaisia ja suomalaisiksi haluavia kunnollisia maahanmuuttajia kohtaan.

Miksi te pelkäätte niitä suuryrityksiä? Eivät ne verota teitä kuoliaaksi, toisin kuin valtio.

Tätä olen itsekin topicia lukiessani ihmetellyt. Miksi suuret yritykset ovat pahoja, mutta pienet yritykset ilmeisesti ovat hyvä asia? Millä mittarilla voidaan todeta hyvän asian muuttuvan pahaksi? Liikevaihto, liikevoitto, henkilöstön määrä vai mikä? On tietysti kiistaton tosiasia, että isojen (ja pienien) yritysten pääasiallinen tehtävä on kasvattaa omistaja-arvoa ja että jotkin isot (ja pienet) yritykset ovat syyllistyneet laittomuuksiin ja moraalittomuuksiin sitä tehdessään. Silti yritysten (jotka tuottavat vaurautta ja kohentavat elintasoa) vastustaminen tuntuu omituiselta. Kyseisen ideologian mukaan yritys muuttuu pahaksi myös, jos yritys toimii useammassa kuin yhdessä maassa, eli on ns. "monikansallinen" tai "ylikansallinen".

Keskustelussa on myös toistunut näkemys, jonka mukaan monikansallisten suuryritysten ja tavallisen kuluttajan eduissa on automaattisesti ristiriita. Olen eri mieltä. Kaupantekohetki on tietynlainen sopimuksen tekeminen. Kuluttaja antaa rahaa ja saa sillä yrityksen valmistaman hyödykkeen. Molemmat osapuolet kokevat hyötyvänsä sopimuksesta eli kaupasta. Kuten lainaamassani viestissäkin nimim. Taikakaulin mainitsee, kauppa perustuu 100% vapaaehtoisuuteen. Kenenkään ei tarvitse ostaa monikansalliselta suuryritykseltä puhelinta, tietokonetta tai autoa, jos ei halua. Mutta aika moni haluaa käyttää kyseisiä hyödykkeitä ja jos maailmassa ei olisi monikansallisia suuryrityksiä kyseiset hyödykkeet olisivat paljon kehnompia ja kalliimpia, jos niitä ylipäänsä olisi mahdollista ostaa ollenkaan. Suomessa monikansalliset suuryritykset luovat vaurautta myös viennin ja työllistämisen myötä.

Topicissa on useaan otteeseen verrattu TTIP:n puolustamista ja monikulttuurisuususkoa ja väitetty niiden sisältävän samankaltaista sokeaa uskoa, hölmöä ideologisuutta ja suoranaista idiotismia. Itselläni on suuri kiusaus tehdä samanlainen vertaus, kun joku vastustaa yritystä vain koska yritys on suuri ja toimii useammassa maassa.

Miksi suuret yritykset ovat pahoja, mutta pienet yritykset ilmeisesti ovat hyvä asia?

Lyhyesti. Suurkorporaatiot polkevat pienemmät jalkoihinsa ja vievät heiltä markkinaosuudet. Suurkorporaatioiden tavoite on markkinamonopoli ja he käyttävät sen saavuttamiseen kaikkia mahdollisia keinoja kuten tätä TTIP-sopimusta. Kun suurkorporaatiot pääsevät tavoitteeseensa, eli pienyritykset kuolevat, kuolee niiden mukana keskiluokka. Sen jälkeen meillä on vain työsuhteessa olevia henkilöitä ja pieni eliitti. Korkeimmassakin asemassa olevien palkat ovat pienet koska globalismi ja sen myötä halvat insinöörit. Tilanne on siis käytännössä sama kuin Neuvostoliitossa. Tilanteeseen on vaan päästy vastakkaista reittiä. Taustavoimat tämän päivän korporaatiokommunismilla on samat kuin esimerkiksi Venäjän 1917 vallankumouksella ja Neuvostoliitolla. Ajattelen samoin kuin käyttäjä Franklin yllä. Mikään ei ongelmatonta ja massatuotannossa on tunnetut haittapuolensa, mutta jos laitetaan asiat yksilötasolle, niin yksittäinen yrittäjä tekee tuotteen x tai multikansallinen yritys tuotteen x, niin lopulta vain tuotteen laatu on merkitsevä. Jopa yksittäiset yrittäjät tekevät massatuotantoa kykyjensä mukaan, koska se on kaikin puolin järkevää. Yritysten koko ei itsessään kerro siitä, että joku on pahaa tai hyvää, vaan se miten tulokseen päästään. Jos ympäristö ja muut seikat pidetään mielessä, niin mitään eroa ei ole.

En ole tutkinut tilastoja, mutta ainakin oman mielenkiintoni kohteessa pienyritykset ja yksittäiset valmistajat kukoistavat yhdysvalloissa, jopa niin, että heidän 3-4 kertaa kalliimpia tuotteita ostetaan mielummin kuin kaukoidässä valmistettuja, koska laatu on vähän parempaa. Ihmiset haluavat myös panostaa kestäviin ja tuotteisiin, jotka on käsityöläisten tekemiä. Siinä vaiheessa, kun yrityksestä tulee keskisuuri, niin voi käydä niin, että isompi yritys ostaa sen itselleen ja käytännössä tuhoaa vanhan brändin, mutta tämä on talouteen kuuluva asia.

Tuossa vastustamisessa on minusta erittäin voimakas kommunnistinen häivähdys, joka tulee sieltä sanoman rivien välistä esiin. Sosialismi ja oikeudenmukaisuus on eriasia, enkä pidä näitä huonona, mutta sellainen järjestelmällinen suuryritysten mollaaminen vaikuttaa kommunismilta.

VÄYRYNEN on nihkeämpi. Hän muistuttaa, että EU:n ja Yhdysvaltain välillä ei ole juuri lainkaan perinteisiä kaupan esteitä, kuten tulleja ja kiintiöitä, joita sopimuksella tarvitsisi purkaa.

Suur-yrityksissä ei sinänsä ole mitään vikaa mutta silloin mennään väärään suuntaan kun suur-yritykset määräävät yhteiskunnan suunnan lobbauksellaan ja ovat sementoimassa omaa suur-yritys-statustaan yhteiskunnan avustuksella kun poliitikojen päät on lobattu pyörällle että jokin asia tuo yhdeksän hyvää ja kymmenen kaunista vaikka asiat joita TTIP:lla ollaan "ratkaisemassa" on suurelta osin jo ratkaistu.

Miksi siis juuri Halla-aho?

Tuo linkittämäsi kannanotto on muuten erikoinen. Miksi lista on täynnä sosiologeja ja uraansa aloittelevia tohtoriopiskelijoita (näistä suurin osa vielä yhden ja saman proffan alaisia)??

Varmaankin verkostoitumisesta johtuen. Tuskin ovat soitelleet jokaiseen yliopistoon aiheesta ihan tuntemattomille ihmisille. Sosiologia käsittelee myös yhteiskuntien rakenteita, ja ehkä näillä ihmisillä on vain kiinnostusta tuollaisiin asioihin. Näitä muuten oli kokonaista viisi kappaletta noin viidestä kymmenestä lukien mukaan myös sosiaalitieteiden laitokset. Vertailun vuoksi professoreita oli n. kymmenen. Mitä erikoista kannanotossa oli?

Väitän että hyvin harva noista on kahlannut sen sopimuksen läpi.

Mutta siltikö nimi paperiin? Sellaiseen, jota ei edes ymmärrä. Eihän siitä tunnu kukaan tietävän mitään, mikä onkin olennainen ongelma. Se on aika tärkeä paperi, joten eiköhän meppien pitäisi jättää kurkkujen mittailu vähemmälle hetkeksi ja perehtyä kunnolla ihan itse. Jos tekstistä ei saa selvää, niin sitten siinä on vikaa, eikä sitä pidä allekirjoittaa.

Niillä jotka puolestaan ovat kahlanneet on varmasti oma lehmä ojassa, minkä vuoksi laaja-alainen asiantuntijoiden kuuleminen on välttämätöntä. Uskon, että näin JHa on tehnyt.

Mikä on yliopistomaailman ihmisen oma lehmä verrattuna esim. poliitikon lehmään?

Edelleenkin, jos kerran kansainvälisen oikeuden professorin huoli oikeusnäkökulmasta on perusteeton, niin voisiko joku kertoa, miten. Eipä tuo Halla-ahokaan näytä viitsivän vastaata ongelmakohtiin, vaan vetoaa siihen, että kyllä hän tietää. Ei riitä minulle. Pitää ilmeisesti äänestää nyt vasemmistoliittoa. Olkoon vaikka Jeesuksen uusi tuleminen, mutta vastatkoon ihmisten esittämiin perusteltuihin huoliin. Edelleenkään ei ole muiden tehtävä osoittaa, että sopimuksessa on vikaa, vaan sitä kannattavien tehtävä on osoittaa, että siinä ei ole. Hehän sitä muutosta ajavat, joten perustelkoot sen, että se kannattaa hyväksyä ja että siitä ei tule epäiltyjä ongelmia. Näin perin tämän asiaan kuuluu mennä.

Uskon mielummin Halla-ahoa kuin ketään yksittäistä professoria tai nobelistia sillä tiedän kohtuullisen varmaksi, että Halla-aho on suomalainen nationalisti.

Likewise, the TTIP promoters push the "living" document theme. In February of this year, the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) issued a report entitled, "A Fresh Start for TTIP," which declares, "The [TTIP] negotiators should agree on standard harmonisation where it can be easily achieved ... and should set up an inclusive process of regulatory convergence to allow TTIP to become a living agreement which harmonises further standards later on."

Dr. Alberto Alemanno, the Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law at HEC Paris, writes that "unlike any previous trade arrangement, TTIP is set to become a 'living agreement', whose obligations will continuously be added without the need to re-open the initial international treaty nor to modify each others' institutional frameworks. Thus, should the regulators identify areas for convergence ... their agreed commitments ... will become legally binding through a sectoral annex."

The TPP/TTIP architects are drawing from the "success" of the European Union. In the development of the European Union — from its origin as the European Coal and Steel Community to the Common Market to the European Community to, finally, the EU — this subversive mutational process has been referred to as "broadening and deepening." Broadening (or "widening") refers to the constant expansion through addition of new member-states; deepening refers to the constant creation of new supranational institutional structures and continuous expansion and usurpation by regional authorities of powers and jurisdiction that previously were exercised by national, state, and local governments. The "living," "evolving" treaties and agreements of the EU have eviscerated the national sovereignty of the EU member-states and increasingly subjugated them to unaccountable rulers in Brussels under the rubric of "integration," "harmonization," "an ever closer union," "convergence," "pooled sovereignty," "interdependence," and "comprehensive cooperation."

3: It's being planned in secret.

The Obama administration has audaciously claimed that the TPP and TTIP processes are "completely transparent," and President Obama has publicly claimed to be peeved by charges (false charges, he says) that there is any secrecy involved. But the president is talking utter nonsense, if facts mean anything. It is a fact that after more than three years of (secret) negotiations, the administration still has not made the draft texts of either of the agreements available to the public. It is a fact that the only texts the public has had access to are those that have been "illegally" leaked. It is a fact that elected members of the U.S. Congress are only allowed to see the text under severely restricted conditions: They must go to a special room, must leave their cellphones behind, may not make any copies, are monitored while in the room, and before leaving must surrender all notes they have taken. On the other hand, it is also a fact that private "cleared" representatives of, for example, pharmaceutical companies, Hollywood studios, Wall Street, and other corporate interests are given passwords to access the documents online at their leisure: no restrictions, inconvenience, or humiliation for these privileged elites.

This secrecy charge is not merely some invention of right-wing Republicans; it comes also from progressives of Obama's party: Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, Florida Representative Alan Grayson, Connecticut Representative Rosa DeLauro, California Representative George Miller, and many others. If there is nothing to hide, why does the administration insist on shrouding the entire process in secrecy, and then ludicrously pretend they are being totally open and transparent?

4: The TPP and TTIP are not about "free trade."

Historically, the "free trade" debate has centered on reducing or eliminating tariffs (taxes on imports). But U.S. tariffs are already at historic lows. If the TTIP and TPP were truly about free trade and tariffs, they could be written in a few pages. But they, purportedly, are hundreds of pages long. This is because they deal with what the glob­alization lobby calls "non-tariff barriers to trade," which can be just about anything and everything. Here are some of the things the U.S. Trade Representative's website lists as matters that are covered by the TTIP: "Agricultural Market Access, Competition, Cross-Border Services, Customs and Trade Facilitation, Electronic Commerce and Telecommunications, Energy and Raw Materials, Environment Financial Services, Government Procurement, Intellectual Property Rights, Investment, Labor, ... Rules of Origin, Sanitary and Phyto­sanitary (SPS) Measures, Sectoral Annexes/Regulatory Cooperation, Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises, State-Owned Enterprises, Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), Textiles, Trade Remedies."

And remember, as discussed above in number two, since these are "living," "evolving" agreements, virtually anything may be added for consideration in the future. No less an authority than WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy has remarked on the revolutionary nature of TTIP. "Authorities in Europe and America have given the impression that the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is just another trade agreement," he said. "In fact, the proposed agreement is a different beast." Lamy noted that "80 per cent of these negotiations deal with a realm of regulatory convergence." Lamy, who previously worked as an official in the French government and the EU bureaucracy, knows about convergence, since he helped steer the process in the EU. "Convergence" in EU parlance has come to mean iron-fisted centralized authority running roughshod over national and local laws and customs.

Dr. Joseph Stiglitz, recipient of the Nobel Prize in economics, told the Italian Parliament last year during testimony regarding the TTIP, "This is not a free trade agreement and you should not sign it." While this writer might disagree with Dr. Stiglitz on a number of other important economic matters, he is certainly correct on this point and his warning should be heeded. According to WikiLeaks, only five chapters of the purported 29 chapters in the TPP deal with matters that are considered traditional trade issues.

5: It is an immigration Trojan Horse.

The Obama administration, infamous for promising to use all executive means possible (whether constitutional or not) to grant amnesty to illegals and to expand legal immigration, is using the TPP/TTIP to replace our immigration system with EU-style mass "migration." The still-secret agreements contain provisions for eviscerating our border controls, according to insiders who have studied them. "The Trans-Pacific Partnership includes an entire chapter on immigration," Curtis Ellis, executive director of the American Jobs Alliance, remarked in an April 13, 2015 post for The Hill. "It is a Trojan horse for Obama's immigration agenda. House members who were ready to defund the Department of Homeland Security to stop President Obama's executive action on immigration must not give him TPA [Fast Track], which he will use to ensure his immigration actions are locked in when he leaves office."

Critics point to the fact that President Obama has boasted of greatly expanding the L-1 "temporary guest worker" program to allow corporations to bring hundreds of thousands of workers into the United States while we are suffering extremely high unemployment. Moreover, Obama has already used a pseudo "free trade" agreement with South Korea to expand the L-1 program with that country.

We can take some guidance as to where this could lead from the EU, which the TPP/TTIP architects approvingly cite as their model. Restricted by EU court rulings, EU member states have found it virtually impossible to restrict "migration" and even extremely difficult to control the deluge of "welfare tourism" that is bankrupting many of their social services.

6: It merges America with China/Russia.

One of the overarching arguments repeatedly used by TPP promoters is that we must complete and adopt the TPP or Communist China will pre-empt us with its own trade pact. Likewise, they argue that we must approve the TTIP to keep Russia in check. The short answer to this is that the TPP/TTIP proponents are being totally disingenuous because most of the leading architects of the agreements have been on record for years in favor of admitting both China and Russia to the regional/global trade regimes. China is already a member of the U.S.-created Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and has been integrally involved in the talks aimed at transforming APEC into a Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP). The TPP is a key "steppingstone" in that process, according to the APEC/FTAAP architects. An important source on this matter is the pro-TPP book Understanding the Trans-Pacific Partnership published in 2013 by the Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), one of the premier global think tanks that has played an especially important role in promoting the WTO, IMF, United Nations, and so-called free trade agreements, including NAFTA, CAFTA, TPP, and FTAAP. According to the PIIE book, "The TPP is regarded as an interim arrangement or stepping stone toward a broader, region-wide Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP).... TPP negotiators are ... also planning and constructing the trade pact with a view toward future linkages with other APEC members, including and especially China."

9: The TPP and TTIP are corporatist schemes.

Unfortunately, some of the loudest critics on this score are notorious leftists who regularly parade against capitalism. Republican leaders have been able to use that fact as a reason to disregard the compelling evidence that these criticisms of TPP/TTIP are solidly based. First of all, it is important to note that in most cases the big, international mega-corporations long ago ceased to consider themselves American companies and also long ago ceased to favor free enterprise capitalism: They are corporate welfare drones, the masters of government bailouts, government loans, government subsidies, government contracts. They are little different from the giant State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) or "private" corporations owned by communist princelings and commissars in China and Russia.

This is especially evident in the lineup of globalist corporations behind the TPP/TTIP: Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Dow Chemical, Unilever, Chevron, Caterpillar, UPS, Walmart, Chase, Citi — and a bevy of Big Business coalitions: Global Business Dialogue, Business Roundtable, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Transatlantic Policy Network, Atlantic Council, and more. These are "crony capitalists," not free enterprise capitalists; they prefer to use the power of government rather than innovation, risk, and excellence to prosper. Many of these corporations and associations have their representatives working directly with the TPP/TTIP negotiators, and they are the "cleared" elites that get privileged access to the documents you and I don't get to see, and our elected representatives only access under extreme controls.

The "living," "evolving" treaties and agreements of the EU have eviscerated the national sovereignty of the EU member-states and increasingly subjugated them to unaccountable rulers in Brussels under the rubric of "integration," "harmonization," "an ever closer union," "convergence," "pooled sovereignty," "interdependence," and "comprehensive cooperation."

3: It's being planned in secret.

The Obama administration has audaciously claimed that the TPP and TTIP processes are "completely transparent," and President Obama has publicly claimed to be peeved by charges (false charges, he says) that there is any secrecy involved. But the president is talking utter nonsense, if facts mean anything. It is a fact that after more than three years of (secret) negotiations, the administration still has not made the draft texts of either of the agreements available to the public. It is a fact that the only texts the public has had access to are those that have been "illegally" leaked. It is a fact that elected members of the U.S. Congress are only allowed to see the text under severely restricted conditions: They must go to a special room, must leave their cellphones behind, may not make any copies, are monitored while in the room, and before leaving must surrender all notes they have taken. On the other hand, it is also a fact that private "cleared" representatives of, for example, pharmaceutical companies, Hollywood studios, Wall Street, and other corporate interests are given passwords to access the documents online at their leisure: no restrictions, inconvenience, or humiliation for these privileged elites.

This secrecy charge is not merely some invention of right-wing Republicans; it comes also from progressives of Obama's party: Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, Florida Representative Alan Grayson, Connecticut Representative Rosa DeLauro, California Representative George Miller, and many others. If there is nothing to hide, why does the administration insist on shrouding the entire process in secrecy, and then ludicrously pretend they are being totally open and transparent?

4: The TPP and TTIP are not about "free trade."

Historically, the "free trade" debate has centered on reducing or eliminating tariffs (taxes on imports). But U.S. tariffs are already at historic lows. If the TTIP and TPP were truly about free trade and tariffs, they could be written in a few pages. But they, purportedly, are hundreds of pages long. This is because they deal with what the glob­alization lobby calls "non-tariff barriers to trade," which can be just about anything and everything. Here are some of the things the U.S. Trade Representative's website lists as matters that are covered by the TTIP: "Agricultural Market Access, Competition, Cross-Border Services, Customs and Trade Facilitation, Electronic Commerce and Telecommunications, Energy and Raw Materials, Environment Financial Services, Government Procurement, Intellectual Property Rights, Investment, Labor, ... Rules of Origin, Sanitary and Phyto­sanitary (SPS) Measures, Sectoral Annexes/Regulatory Cooperation, Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises, State-Owned Enterprises, Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), Textiles, Trade Remedies."

And remember, as discussed above in number two, since these are "living," "evolving" agreements, virtually anything may be added for consideration in the future. No less an authority than WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy has remarked on the revolutionary nature of TTIP. "Authorities in Europe and America have given the impression that the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is just another trade agreement," he said. "In fact, the proposed agreement is a different beast." Lamy noted that "80 per cent of these negotiations deal with a realm of regulatory convergence." Lamy, who previously worked as an official in the French government and the EU bureaucracy, knows about convergence, since he helped steer the process in the EU. "Convergence" in EU parlance has come to mean iron-fisted centralized authority running roughshod over national and local laws and customs.

Dr. Joseph Stiglitz, recipient of the Nobel Prize in economics, told the Italian Parliament last year during testimony regarding the TTIP, "This is not a free trade agreement and you should not sign it." While this writer might disagree with Dr. Stiglitz on a number of other important economic matters, he is certainly correct on this point and his warning should be heeded. According to WikiLeaks, only five chapters of the purported 29 chapters in the TPP deal with matters that are considered traditional trade issues.

5: It is an immigration Trojan Horse.

The Obama administration, infamous for promising to use all executive means possible (whether constitutional or not) to grant amnesty to illegals and to expand legal immigration, is using the TPP/TTIP to replace our immigration system with EU-style mass "migration." The still-secret agreements contain provisions for eviscerating our border controls, according to insiders who have studied them. "The Trans-Pacific Partnership includes an entire chapter on immigration," Curtis Ellis, executive director of the American Jobs Alliance, remarked in an April 13, 2015 post for The Hill. "It is a Trojan horse for Obama's immigration agenda. House members who were ready to defund the Department of Homeland Security to stop President Obama's executive action on immigration must not give him TPA [Fast Track], which he will use to ensure his immigration actions are locked in when he leaves office."

Critics point to the fact that President Obama has boasted of greatly expanding the L-1 "temporary guest worker" program to allow corporations to bring hundreds of thousands of workers into the United States while we are suffering extremely high unemployment. Moreover, Obama has already used a pseudo "free trade" agreement with South Korea to expand the L-1 program with that country.

We can take some guidance as to where this could lead from the EU, which the TPP/TTIP architects approvingly cite as their model. Restricted by EU court rulings, EU member states have found it virtually impossible to restrict "migration" and even extremely difficult to control the deluge of "welfare tourism" that is bankrupting many of their social services.

6: It merges America with China/Russia.

One of the overarching arguments repeatedly used by TPP promoters is that we must complete and adopt the TPP or Communist China will pre-empt us with its own trade pact. Likewise, they argue that we must approve the TTIP to keep Russia in check. The short answer to this is that the TPP/TTIP proponents are being totally disingenuous because most of the leading architects of the agreements have been on record for years in favor of admitting both China and Russia to the regional/global trade regimes. China is already a member of the U.S.-created Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and has been integrally involved in the talks aimed at transforming APEC into a Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP). The TPP is a key "steppingstone" in that process, according to the APEC/FTAAP architects. An important source on this matter is the pro-TPP book Understanding the Trans-Pacific Partnership published in 2013 by the Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), one of the premier global think tanks that has played an especially important role in promoting the WTO, IMF, United Nations, and so-called free trade agreements, including NAFTA, CAFTA, TPP, and FTAAP. According to the PIIE book, "The TPP is regarded as an interim arrangement or stepping stone toward a broader, region-wide Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP).... TPP negotiators are ... also planning and constructing the trade pact with a view toward future linkages with other APEC members, including and especially China."

9: The TPP and TTIP are corporatist schemes.

Unfortunately, some of the loudest critics on this score are notorious leftists who regularly parade against capitalism. Republican leaders have been able to use that fact as a reason to disregard the compelling evidence that these criticisms of TPP/TTIP are solidly based. First of all, it is important to note that in most cases the big, international mega-corporations long ago ceased to consider themselves American companies and also long ago ceased to favor free enterprise capitalism: They are corporate welfare drones, the masters of government bailouts, government loans, government subsidies, government contracts. They are little different from the giant State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) or "private" corporations owned by communist princelings and commissars in China and Russia.

This is especially evident in the lineup of globalist corporations behind the TPP/TTIP: Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Dow Chemical, Unilever, Chevron, Caterpillar, UPS, Walmart, Chase, Citi — and a bevy of Big Business coalitions: Global Business Dialogue, Business Roundtable, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Transatlantic Policy Network, Atlantic Council, and more. These are "crony capitalists," not free enterprise capitalists; they prefer to use the power of government rather than innovation, risk, and excellence to prosper. Many of these corporations and associations have their representatives working directly with the TPP/TTIP negotiators, and they are the "cleared" elites that get privileged access to the documents you and I don't get to see, and our elected representatives only access under extreme controls.

Ei Halla-ahon ajattelu ole mitenkään ristiriidatonta. Oma käsitykseni on, että kapitalismin kiihdyttäminen tällaisilla globaaleilla sopimuksilla räjäyttää myös maahanmuuton. Elintason nousu on ok, mutta kun kuilu köyhien ja rikkaiden maiden välillä kasvaa, se aiheuttaa kateutta ja laitonta maahanmuuttoa, kuten Välimerellä ja Meksikon/US rajalla. Globaalit yritykset ajavat myös väkisin työperäistä maahanmuuttoa pudottaakseen liksoja ja murskatakseen ay-liikkeen... Halla-aho on samalla tavalla ristiriitainen kuin vihervasurit, jotka puolustavat vapaata liikkuvuutta oman väen kustannuksella.

Tämä maailma on siitä merkillinen paikka, että vapauden puolustaminen merkitsee joskus samaisen vapauden rajoittamista. Joskus jopa valistunut yksinvalta voisi tuottaa parempia tuloksia kuin parlamentaarinen demokratia, jota media kuitenkin manipuloi miten haluaa.

GM-yhtiöt ovat lobanneet asiat niin että 90-päivän rottakokeet ovat standardi sen selvittämiseksi onko joku GMO-ruoka myrkkyjäänteineen turvallista vai ei vaikka pidemmissä tutkimuksissa on huomattu syöpien ja sairauksien lisääntymistä rotilla kontrolliryhmiin verrattuna ja vaikka monen sukupolven tutkimuksissa on huomattu kasvavaa steriiliyttä ja lapsettomuuttta.

Maailmassa on maahanmuuton suhteen naiiveja ihmisiä mutta maailmassa on myös vapaa-kaupan, suur-yritysten ja GMO-ruuan suhteen naiiveja ihmisiä.

On jenkeissä kovia duunareita kun tekee töitä 24/7. Ja ihan vaan maksaakseen terveydenhuollosta ja eläkettä? TTIP vastustajia ois helpompi uskoa ilman näitä paskapuheita ja kovaa propagandaa ilman perusteluja. Suurin osa vastustajista vetoaa johonkin pykälään, missä yritys voi haastaa valtion oikeuteen. Eikös tuo nyt ole ihan hyvä asia?

Detroitin ongelma on ajankohtainen meillä, jos suomalaiset vaihdetaan afrikkalaisiin, kuten kävi Detroitissa.

Häveliäisyyssyistä Lex Nokia on korvattu "tietoyhteiskuntakaaren" nimellä kulkevalla lailla. Kun jopa poliitikkojen silmät avautuivat huomaamaan että "entinen superyritys" Nokia oli lakannut olemasta. Mistä syystä pikavauhtia täytyi korjata nuoleskelijoiden tekemät lainsäädäntöhätiköinnit uudella lailla.

Nämä superyritykset ovat niin isoja että ne pakottavat kokonaiset heikot valtiot muuttumaan ja alistumaan itselleen, ellei demokraattinen päätöksentekokone ota itse itselleen sille kuuluvaa valtaa. Suomessa eduskunta on hyvin heikko toimija. Se pystyy kiusaamaan vain heikkoja voimia kuten kansalaisia. Superyrityksille eduskunta ei voi mitään. Sama tapahtuu tiettyyn rajaan myös yhdysvaltojen kongressissa. Mutta siellä on rajat myös superyrityksille.

Itse olen GM-kriittinen nimenomaan koska tieteen puolelta on tullut huolestuttavia tuloksia.

Suosin luomua aina kun mahdollista ja yritän syödä puhdasta käsittelemätöntä ruokaa. En silti ymmärrä miksi koko TTIP-sopimusta pitää tuon takia vastustaa. Eikö voida neuvotella sopimusta esim GMO:n suhteen, ja laittaa sopimukseen reunaehtoja?

Enkä millään usko että TTIP poistaisi oman valinnan millaista ruokaa ihminen syö. Tuskin GMO ruokaa pakotetaan syömään sopimuksen jälkeen, kaikki nämä on kuluttajista kiinni loppupeleissä.
