2012-02-14 Yle: Hollantilaispuolue kohu-maahanmuuttovastaisena

"Useiden EU-maiden suurlähettiläät ovat tuominneet hollantilaispuolueen maahanmuuttovastaisen nettisivun. Sivustolla kehoitetaan hollantilaisia kertomaan kokemuksiaan itä- ja keskieurooppalaisista, jotka ovat olleet kansalaisille mahdollisesti haitaksi.

Sivuston on perustanut Geert Wildersin johtama vapauspuolue. Kymmenen Itä-Euroopan maan suurlähettilästä ja edustajistoa ovat allekirjoittaneet kirjeen, jossa vaaditaan Hollannin pääministeri Mark Rutten ottavan asiaan kantaa.

Kirjeen ovat allekirjoittaneet Bulgarian, Tsekin, Viron, Unkarin, Latvian, Liettuan, Puolan, Romanian, Slovakian ja Slovenian suurlähettiläät. He ovat vedonneet hollantilaisiin, etteivät he lähtisi mukaan sivuston syrjivään asenteeseen.

Kirjeessä korostetaan, että sivusto ei auta ratkomaan maahamuuttoa koskevia ongelmia. Diplomaattien mukaan sivusto vain rohkaisee hylkimään Itä-Euroopan kansalaisia, jotka työskentelevät maassa. Samalla sen pelätään tahrivan Hollannin maineen suvaitsevana maana.

Maiden diplomaatit tapaavat Hollannin ulkoministeri Uri Rosenthalin perjantaina. Myös EU:n oikeuskomissaari Viviane Reding on kritisoinut sivustoa.

Wilderin luotsaama vapauspuolue on maan kolmanneksi suurin. Nettisivulla kysytään kansalaisilta, ovatko he esimerkiksi menettäneet työpaikkansa maahanmuuttajille tai ovatko itäeurooppalaiset jollakin tapaa haitaksi heille.

Sivustolla korostetaan, että he haluavat kuulla kansalaisten vastauksen. Sivulla on ollut 41 000 kävijää."

Ten eastern European countries protested to the Dutch government Tuesday about an anti-immigrant website by a right-wing party, urging The Hague to reject what they branded a "deplorable initiative".

An open letter was signed by ambassadors and representatives from countries including Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and Romania, piling pressure on Prime Minister Mark Rutte to take a stance on the "discriminatory" site.

Sent to party leaders in the Dutch parliament, the letter "expressed concern" over the website set up by the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) where readers can lodge complaints against eastern European migrants.

"Targeting a selected group of people living in the Netherlands is clearly discriminatory and degrading in its intents and purposes," said the letter, which was published on Dutch media websites on Tuesday.

"We invite Dutch society and its political leaders to distance themselves from this deplorable initiative."

In Europe, we stand for freedom. We stand for an open Continent where citizens can move, work and study wherever they like. The citizens of the 27 EU Member States should feel at home no matter where they decide to move.

The PVV's website runs totally counter to these principles. It is openly calling for people to be intolerant. Europe is facing difficult times. We will only solve our problems by increasing solidarity, not by denouncing fellow citizens.

We call on all citizens of the Netherlands not to follow this intolerance. Citizens should instead clearly state on the PVV's website that Europe is a place of freedom. Intolerance has no place on our Continent."

But this time, [Prime Minister] Rutte countered that the website issue had grown out of proportion and people were exaggerating.

"Let's not make it bigger than it is," he said to jeers from the chamber. "I think it is unwise to jump all together on every piece of red meat that is thrown in the arena. That is what you are all doing right now."

EUobserver: Dutch PM refuses to denounce anti-immigrant website

European Commission (EC) Spokesperson Matthew Newman voiced the EC's recommendation that all countries affected by the anti-immigrants website of the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) should approach the Dutch court or the European Court of Human Rights on the matter as each EU member state was responsible for observing EU legislation while even though it followed the matter closely the EC had not registered a violation and could not launch an infringement procedure. EC Spokesperson Pia Hansen stated she had no information of the EC President Jose Manuel Barroso holding talks with the Dutch PM Mark Rutte, the Trud daily learned.

Reporting Central and Eastern Europeans

Since May 1, 2007 there is free movement of workers between the Netherlands and eight countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries. At present the estimates to the number of people from these countries, which resides in the Netherlands, apart from 200,000 to 350,000 people. As one of the few parties, the Freedom Party was from the beginning against the opening of the labor market to Poland and other CEE nationals. Given all the problems associated with the massive arrival of especially Poland, is that attitude materialized. Recently, the PVV voted against further opening of the labor market for Romanians and Bulgarians.

This massive labor migration leads to many problems, nuisance, pollution, displacement and integration in the labor and housing problems. For many people, these things a serious problem. Complaints are often not reported, because the idea that nothing is done.
