On tuosta onneksi muissakin lehdissä eli hieman lisätietoa. Raiskaajaisä pakistanilaisen grooming- ja raiskausjengin jäsenen ja äiti 15-vuotiaana jengin kynsiin joutunut haavoittuvainen tyttö. Nyt sitten valtuusto/sosiaaliviranomaiset yrittävät pakottaa leikkimään kotia, kun raiskauksesta syntynyt poika on ongelmallinen ja tarvitsisi tukea. Lain mukaan pitää konsultoida vanhempia ja oikeusministeriö tutkii nyt, ovatko sosiaaliviranomaiset tehneet tässä virheen.

Jailed rapist offered the chance to see his victim's child (26.11.2018)

A council offered a jailed sex offender the chance to play a part in the future of the child of a woman he raped, it has emerged.

The rapist, who was part of a grooming gang in the North of the country and has no parental responsibility for his son, was contacted by the local authority to give him a chance to see the boy, a Times investigation has uncovered.

To protect the child the names of the parents and of the local authority have been withheld.

The man featured in a criminal trial which saw several men of Pakistani origin found guilty of sex offences against numerous vulnerable women, including the boy's mother.

Upon hearing the news the woman said she was "extremely distressed" that he had been contacted, despite giving evidence against him in court for raping her when she was 15.

"I was gobsmacked" she told the paper. "The council knew what he did to me and to other vulnerable girls. They knew he was behind bars and a risk to my son, who wanted nothing to do with him, but they bent over backwards to include him in the case. I felt angry and scared for my son."

A family court judge last year heard the child's case. The council was seeking a case order with the support of his mother, who was unable to cope with the troubled boy's complex needs and agreed that he would receive greater protection in a residential placement.

By law the local authority is obliged to contact all "respondents" when such an application is made.

Baroness Newlove, the victims' commissioner for England and Wales, described it as a "perverse situation" adding: "This appears to be a case in which a victim of the worst sexual violence faced the prospect of continuing to be abused by her perpetrator, this time via the family courts."

Louise Haigh, the shadow police and crime minister, said that the council's decision to offer the serial rapist a role in the proceedings was "appallingly insensitive".

The Ministry of Justice said it was investigating whether the incident was the result of a social worker's error or systemic failings.

Rotherhamin hyväksikäyttöskandaalin uhri Sammy Woodhouse sai kuulla, että hänen raiskaajalleen on tiedotettu mahdollisuudesta hakea isyysoikeutta hänen rikoksesta alkunsa saaneeseen lapseensa.
Englannissa Etelä-Yorkshiren kreivikunnassa sijaitsevan Rotherhamin kaupungin nimellä on monen britin mielessä synkkä kaiku. Tämä johtuu skandaalista, joka puhkesi vuonna 2012, kun kaupungissa paljastuneen lasten hyväksikäyttövyyhdin mittasuhteet kävivät lopullisesti ilmi.

Ainakin 1 400 lapsen, joista suurin osa oli 11–15-vuotiaita tyttöjä, todettiin joutuneen seksuaalisesti hyväksikäytetyksi Rotherhamin alueella vuosina 1997–2013. Tekijät, joista osa odottaa vielä tuomioitaan, olivat pääasiassa pakistanilaissyntyisiä miehiä.

Erityisesti tapauksessa brittejä järkytti se, etteivät kaupungin poliisi ja sosiaaliviranomaiset olleet puuttuneet asiaan, vaikka olivat tiettävästi saaneet siitä tietoja vuosien varrella.

Nyt Britanniaa kuohuttaa uusi Rotherhamin rikosvyyhteen kytkeytyvä skandaali. Brittilehdet ovat julkaisseet tietoja, joiden mukaan Rotherhamin kaupunginvaltuusto oli ollut viime vuonna yhteydessä Arshid Hussainiin, 43, joka sai hyväksikäytöistä ja raiskauksista 35 vuoden vankeustuomion vuonna 2016.

Lehtitietojen mukaan Hussainille tarjottiin kirjeessä mahdollisuutta hakea lain takaamaa isyysoikeutta siittämäänsä lapseen sekä saada näin rooli lapsen elämässä. Times-lehden mukaan perheoikeudessa on käsittelyssä lasta koskeva juttu, jossa Hussain on listattu "vastaajaksi", ja valtuusto lupasi kirjeessään pitää miehen ajan tasalla käsittelyn etenemisestä.

Kyseinen lapsi on nyt teini-ikäinen. Hänen äitinsä Sammy Woodhouse, nyt 33, on yksi Hussainin raiskaamista tytöistä, ja hän synnytti raiskauksesta alkunsa saaneen poikansa vain 15-vuotiaana.

Ten men go on trial accused of preying on two vulnerable girls in care

TEN men have appeared at Bradford Crown Court accused of preying on two vulnerable girls in care.

Opening the prosecution case as the trial got underway today, Kama Melly QC told the court that the girls were used for the "sexual fulfilment" of the men in the dock, who had engaged in "cynical and manipulative behaviour".

The abuse first began some 10 years ago, when the girls were both aged 14, it is alleged.

She said some of the defendants were forceful, threatening and violent, while others used alcohol and drugs.

The court heard that others created a manipulated relationship in order to sexually exploit the two teenagers.

The number of children believed to have been sexually exploited in Rotherham has been raised to 1,510, in the first official increase in the figure since the scandal erupted four years ago.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) detectives revealed the updated figure on Tuesday in a briefing on Operation Stovewood, the investigation into child sexual exploitation over a 16-year period in the South Yorkshire town. Prof Alexis Jay's report in 2014 identified 1,400 victims.

The NCA inquiry, the biggest of its kind in the UK, has identified 110 suspects, of whom 80% are of Pakistani heritage, officers said.

Of the 110, 38 have been arrested, 18 have been charged, two cautioned and four have been convicted and handed prison sentences totalling over 30 years.

Williamson said a "toxic mix" of factors let abusers go almost unchecked in Rotherham from about 1997 to 2013, when the scandal first broke.

He said a failure by police to listen, safeguard and investigate the reports had led to a corrosive lack of trust among victims that the NCA was still trying to break down.

He added: "Rotherham is very much moving on as a town from the factors that led to these issues. It's a toxic mix of a number of factors that undoubtedly have occurred and that are related in the scale of what we've found."

Detectives said the £10m investigation, which began in 2015, had disrupted the town's street grooming gangs but there were still "a handful" of high-risk abusers at large.

The complex nature of the investigation meant that more suspects were being identified all the time, Williamson said. In one case, a survivor led police to identify 17 other victims, 30 suspects and 27 possible crime scenes.

Operation Stovewood involves 144 officers working on 34 distinct investigations, but Williamson said he hoped to increase his team to between 200 and 250 people.

He said the operation was at a "very, very early stage" and that it was committing to supporting victims "no matter how long or challenging investigations are".

Home Secretary Sajid Javid has defended highlighting the ethnicity of some grooming gangs.

The home secretary faced criticism for a tweet earlier this year referring to "sick Asian paedophiles".

But speaking on BBC Radio 4 Today, Mr Javid - who has Pakistani heritage - said that ignoring the ethnicity of abusers gives "oxygen" to extremists.

He said he wanted officials researching the causes of gang-based exploitation to leave "no stone unturned".

Asked by the British-Pakistani novelist Kamila Shamsie, who was guest-editing the Today programme, whether he was concerned that his comments may have fuelled hate crimes, he said he was "very much aware of the need for politicians to be careful with their language".

But he said: "When it comes to gang-based child exploitation it is self-evident to anyone who cares to look that if you look at all the recent high-profile cases there is a high proportion of men that have Pakistani heritage."

A Labour MP who claimed that British Pakistani men were "raping and exploiting white girls" is being guarded by counterterrorism police amid fears for her safety.

The Times says that the "strongest attacks" on Champion have come from a Rotherham-based racial justice charity, Just Yorkshire, which accuses her of "inciting and inviting hatred against minorities".

Nine men who raped and abused two teenage girls who were living in a children's home have been jailed.

The girls were aged 14 when the men first began to use drink, drugs and violence to groom and sexually exploit them.

Bradford Crown Court heard the abuse started after the girls moved into the home in 2008.

The nine were convicted of 22 offences including rape and inciting child prostitution.

Another 'Asian' Child Rape Gang Convicted in England

Another tranche of grooming gang rapists operating in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, have been convicted at Leeds Crown Court.
Banaris Hussain, 36, of William Street, Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, was found guilty of one count of rape; Umar Zaman, 31, of William Street, Crosland Moor , was found guilty of two counts of rape; and Samuel Fikru, 31, of HMP Armley, was found guilty of two counts of rape, according to an official police statement.

Three other men from Huddersfield aged 38, 32, and 32, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were found guilty of  one count of attempted rape, one count of rape; and four counts of rape and one count of rape of a girl under 13, respectively.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard McNamara, of Kirklees District Safeguarding Unit, said the men were responsible for "depraved and heinous crimes", having "purposely and repeatedly targeted and abused three vulnerable young girls for their own sexual gratification."

Their young victims were aged 12 to 16.

Sixteen men including a police officer have been charged with historical sex offences against children aged between 13 and 16.

West Yorkshire PC Amjad Ditta, also known as Amjad Hussain, 35, has been charged with sexual touching.

He and 15 other men are charged with offences against three girls in the Halifax area, dating from 2006 to 2009.

The allegations include several counts of rape, sexual assault, supplying drugs and trafficking.

Mr Ditta, who was attached to West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services Operations, was a serving officer at the time of the offence he has been accused of.

Sajid Javid promised a review into the characteristics of grooming gangs in 2018, saying high-profile cases included a "high proportion of men of Pakistani heritage" and that "cultural reasons" could be at play.

The Independent understands that the Home Office started internal analysis of data from police and other agencies, and will use it to inform policy development and prevention strategies.

But the findings may not be published and the Queen's Speech, which set out Boris Johnson's legislative agenda, did not include any mention of a public review.

Sammy Woodhouse, a Rotherham victim who helped expose the scandal, said she is still receiving reports of current abuse in parts of the country.

"You hear this bulls*** line, 'lessons have been learned', but they haven't learned anything," she told The Independent.

"I still hear a lot about the authorities aren't doing things as they should. It's not very often I hear something good and for all different reasons – if the police won't act on reports, people feel they're not being listened to or supported properly, or information not being shared."

Ms Woodhouse, who was abused by rapist Arshid Hussain from the age of 14, said the scale of child sexual exploitation currently reported by local councils did not surprise her.

"I think the most scary thing is all the people it's happening to that they don't know about," she added. "Most won't report and they go under the radar.

"I've said for years that this country's in epidemic when it comes to abuse and exploitation. Authorities claim it's under control but it's not."

The Department for Education statistics showed that Lancashire recorded the highest number of children (624) as grooming victims out of any single local authority area, followed by Birmingham (490), Surrey (447), Bradford (414) and Gloucestershire (409).

The combined totals of Leeds and neighbouring Bradford, where investigations are ongoing following the imprisonment of nine grooming gang members earlier this year, would be the highest at 649.

Oxford grooming trial: Men guilty of sexual abuse of girl

Three men have been convicted of sexually abusing a schoolgirl in parks, toilets and properties in Oxford.

Naim Khan, 41, Mohammed Nazir, 44, and Raheem Ahmed, 42, were found guilty of 35 offences, including rape and indecent assault, against the girl when she was aged between 13 and 15.

Oxford Crown Court heard the victim was "treated as a sexual commodity for the use of older men" from 1999 to 2001.

Khan was also convicted of indecently assaulting a second girl.

A fourth defendant, Afzal Mohammed, 42, of Randolph Street, Oxford, was found not guilty of one count of rape.

Khan was also accused of one count of kidnap and another of false improvement, but the jury was unable to reach verdicts on those charges.

It also could not reach verdicts on two further counts of rape against Ahmed.

The rape and grooming of a vulnerable teenage girl was not investigated until five years after police were first informed, a court has heard.

Nine men, mostly from Sheffield, went on trial today accused of raping the girl when she was aged between 15 and 17 - treating her 'like a piece of meat' and abusing her 'for their own sexual gratification'.

A tenth man is accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The abuse was carried out when the teenage victim was drunk or on drugs, supplied by the grooming gang, jurors were told. 

The complainant first told police about being raped and used for under-age sex in 2011 but no investigation was carried out or crime recorded, Sheffield Crown Court heard.

When the victim initially disclosed 'one rape and incidents of sex with adult men as a minor' to police, no crime was recorded by South Yorkshire Police.

When she complained for a second time about being raped in the same year, 'that investigation was too short-lived,' prosecutor Peter Hampton told a jury at Sheffield Crown Court, today.

The prosecutor said she had been referred to social services and later placed on the child protection register during her childhood.

The girl's case was only taken seriously when she was interviewed as part of the further investigation in 2016/17.

UK: Police Told to Look for 'Other Ethnicities' as 'Asian' Grooming Gang Preyed on Girls

A report commissioned by the Mayor of Greater Manchester found that police systematically overlooked crimes committed by an "Asian" grooming gang for fear of appearing racist.

In the early 2000s, a grooming gang comprised of 97 men from South Asian backgrounds was able to roam free in Manchester, abusing at least 57 young girls, as members of the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were told to focus on apprehending offenders of "other ethnicities".

"What had a massive input was the offending target group were predominantly Asian males and we were told to try and get other ethnicities," said an unnamed GMP detective constable, per The Telegraph.

Members of the "Asian" paedophile ring sexually abused young girls, using drugs to make their victims compliant, leading to the death of a 15-year-old girl, Victoria Agoglia, who was injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man, leading to an overdose which killed her in 2003.

At the time of her death, Agoglia was under the care of Manchester City Council, which the report claims was privy to "multiple threats, sexual assaults and serious sexual exploitation".

The report admits the council did nothing to prevent her death and that her murderer remains unpunished to this day.

The inquiry into police negligence in investigating grooming gangs was sparked by a former GMP detective, Maggie Oliver, who said that the report "vindicated" the cause she had been fighting for 15 years.

The men were sentenced today (19 February 2020) at Leeds Crown Court following a trial relating to the sexual abuse of two girls in the Huddersfield area between 1995 and 2011.

His Honour Judge Marson described the men's actions as disgusting and degrading and stated the sentences were severe to discourage others from behaving in such a fashion.

In December, The Independent was told that the work had been completed but would only be used for internal policy-making and would not be publicly released.

In response to a freedom of information (FOI) request asking for the research carried out and any reports drawn up as a result, the Home Office confirmed it held the information but would not release it.

In a letter to The Independent, officials said they had applied a "public interest test" but the information was exempt from the act because it concerned the development of government policy.

"One of the main purposes of the exemption is to protect the 'safe space' necessary for ministers and officials to consider policy options in private without risk of premature disclosure," it added.

"Disclosure would risk pre-empting decisions still to be made by ministers. In addition, the information could be misleading if made public and used out of context."

The Home Office's FOI unit said the documents also included "operationally sensitive" information from police and could prejudice ongoing investigations.

The letter added: "We recognise that this topic in general and any insight and learning are matters of strong public interest, although it does not necessarily follow that it is in the public interest to disclose any specific information relating to it."

Sammy Woodhouse, a Rotherham victim who helped expose the scandal, told The Independent she believed the research was going to be made public.

"I always got the impression they were going to do a full report and get something official," she said.

"A lot of people were backing it, it's ridiculous they're not releasing it.

"We keep hearing 'we're going to do this and that', and when it actually comes to it there's nothing. It's empty promises all the time."

Members of a gang who used a vulnerable teenager as a "piece of meat" have been found guilty of rape.

The girl was 15 when the group began to ply her with drink and drugs in order to exploit her.

Ten men faced trial at Sheffield Crown Court, accused of subjecting the girl to a campaign of abuse between 2010 and 2012.

A jury at Sheffield Crown Court found four defendants guilty of rape. Five other men were cleared of all offences.

The guilty men will be sentenced on 13 March.

The jury heard the teenager was used as "an object" and abused by the gang of men, all Kurdish, when she was 15 and 16.

Trevor Phillips, an anti-racism campaigner who previously chaired the Equality and Human Rights Commission, faces an investigation and could be expelled from the party.

He was among a group of 24 public figures who last year declared their refusal to vote for the Labour Party because of its association with anti-Semitism.

However, The Times reported that he is now being investigated over past comments, some of which date back years, including remarks on Pakistani Muslim men sexually abusing children in northern British towns.

The report also cited other comments by Mr Phillips about the failure of some Muslims to wear poppies for Remembrance Sunday.
