Murtojen ja törkeiden varkauksien määrä on kasvanut 30% viimeisen viiden vuoden aikana. Useimmat näistä rikollisista on karkoitettu Norjasta, mutta heillä on taipumus palata takaisin Norjaan. Poliisin mukaan kyseiset henkilöt tulevat Albaaniasta, Liettuasta ja Romaniasta.

Ongelmana on, että kyseiset henkilöt palaavat heti karkoituksen jälkeen. Norjan poliisi nopeuttaakin nyt suunnitelmia joiden mukaan Itä-Euroopan rikolliset voisivat kärsiä tuomionsa kotimaassaan.

Expelled criminals return
The number of break-ins and aggravated theft from Norwegian homes have increased by more than 30 per cent over the last five years. Many of the crriminals have been expelled from Norway, but have returned several times.

Most of these criminals come from Albania, Lithuania and Romania, according to the police.

- A deportation from Norway is not very effective. No sooner are they transported out of the country, before they are back again, says attorney Morten Reppen.

The Norwegian government this week announced that it will now speed up the work with transferring East European criminals to their homeland to serve their sentence there.

Poliisi ehdottaa "korkean riskin" omaavien ulkomaalaisten vangitsemista

Törkeistä rikoksista rikoksista tuomitut ja karkoitusta odottavat ulkomaalaiset tulee vangita.

Poliisin mukaan 13 ei-länsimaalaista tuomittua ovat aiheuttaneet kaikkiaan 35 raiskausta vuosien 2006 ja 2009 välillä, 6 heistä oli tekohetkellä turvapaikanhakijoita.

Oslon poliisin apulaisjohtajan mukaan "Meidän tulee suojella yhteiskuntaa vaarallisilta ihmisiltä."

Jotta kyseiset henkilöpt eivät pääsisi tekemään lisää rikoksia, tulisikin heidät laittaa lukkojen taakse odottamaan karkoituksen toteutumista.

Police propose jailing high-risk foreigners
Expelled foreigners convicted of serious crime could be locked up again after serving their sentences. According to police, 13 perpetrators from non-Western backgrounds have been indicted or charged with a total of 35 cases of sexual assault and rape between the autumn of 2006 and the end of 2009. Six of them have been asylum seekers at some point.
"We must protect society against dangerous people," Oslo police district's assistant chief constable, Hanne Kristin Rohde tells Dagsavisen.

She wants to stop them offending again by putting them in secure custody until they're deported.

"We've seen several examples of people permanently expelled after being convicted of serious crimes who've committed new ones after their prison term," she says.

Rohde goes on to say this type of thing happens because there's no system in place to pick this up.

"We don't like having to release people and just wait for them to commit new crimes."
