Englannin suurilevikkisin lehti The Sun on siirtynyt työväenpuolueen tukemisesta konservatiivien taakse. Lisäksi The Sun ruotii kahdella aukeamallisella miten työväenpuolue on epäonnistunut toiminnassaan.

Iso-Britannian johtava sunnuntai lehti "News of the World" on lakannut tukemasta työväenpuoluetta. Viimeiset 13 vuotta lehti tuki Tony Blairia, mutta nyt lehden mukaan maa suorastaan huutaa muutosta.

Lehti kannattaakin jatkossa David Cameronin konservatiivejä.

UK paper News of the World ends support for Labour
The United Kingdom's main Sunday paper News of the World will no longer support the Labour party.

In the past 13 years, the paper was always a staunch supporter of former prime minister Tony Blair. However, News of the World says "The country is crying out for change". Earlier, the country's biggest daily tabloid the Sun announced it would support the candidacy of Conservative opposition leader David Cameron.After initially taking a strong lead over Prime Minister and Labour leader Gordon Brown, Mr Cameron is now ahead by only a few percent.

On Saturday, Gordon Brown presented the main points of his election programme. Economic recovery is his top priority, followed by an increase in the standard of living and social security. The UK government is expected to announce the date of elections soon. Several ministers have hinted that the elections will be held on 6 May.

THE General Election is almost upon us. If, as predicted, the date remains May 6, we have just 40 days, including today, to make the most momentous decision about Government in a generation.

Immigration too is an issue that has divided many under this government. Let us be clear, this country owes much of its richness to a great many law-abiding immigrants. But as recently as Friday of this week, Gordon Brown saw fit to release statistics that claim to show a decrease in arrivals.

Those figures have been attacked as misleading, but there is little doubt that total net immigration increased from 48,000 in 1997 to 163,000 in 2008. And after 10 years of Labour there were up to 700,000 illegal immigrants here.

Taitaa olla myöhäistä Englannissa. Kakka valuu niskaan niin kiivaaseen tahtiin, että minkä sille enää tekee, ellei halua luopua kaikista ns. länsimaisista arvoista.

Taitaa todellakin olla niin, että tämän labourin jäljiltä ei taida olla hirveästi tehtävissä. Kokonaan toinen asia on vielä sekin, että edes mahdollinen Labourin tappio ei saa Toryja tajamaan, miksi heitä on äänestetty. Viime kyselyt vielä kaiken muun lisäksi vihjaavat, että vaalitulos voi olla ns. hung parlament, jossa Toryt, vaikka olsivatkin Labouria isompia, eivät saa omaa enemmistöä.

Kaiken kaikkiaan jonkinlainen siirros on tulossa tod. näk. 6 toukokuuta, mutta turha odottaa sen olevan mikään sellainen monikulttuuristien murskatappio jota blogosfääri toivoo. Voi jopa olla, että hung parlament jossa tehdään paljon lehmänkauppoja onkin oikein sopiva ympäristö islamisteille.

Gordon Brown on menettänyt Guardianin ja the Timesin kannatuksen. Guardin on ilmoittanut tukevansa liberaalidemokraattien Nick Cleeggiä ja the Times konservatiivejä.

Tuo Guardianin siirtyminen LiberaaliDemokraattien tukijaksi on mielenkiintoinen, sillä lehti on aina tukenut Labouria. Syy minkä takia Guardian lähti tälle linjalle on, että sen mielestä Britannian vaalijärjestelmä pitää muuttaa edustuksellisesti, mikä sopii nykypäivään paremmin. Guardian toivoo, että nämä olisivat viimeiset nykyisellä vaalitavalla.

Toinen maa, jonka vaalitapaa pitäisi muuttaa on Ruotsi jonka lippulappu- ja listavaali järjestelmässä ei ole järjen häiventä.
