Pakolaisten paluu Calais'n alueelle on The Independentin mukaan alkanut vain viikkoja sen jälkeen, kun Viidakoksi kutsuttu suuri hökkelikylä purettiin suuressa viranomaisoperaatiossa.

Maaseutualueella on nyt lehden mukaan jo ainakin kuusi leiriä, joista jokaisessa asuu useita pakolaisia ja maahanmuuttajia. Asukkaiden määrä on ollut viime aikoina tasaisessa kasvussa.

Monet takaisin alueelle palanneista ovat lehden mukaan alaikäisiä, joiden turvapaikkahakemukset hylättiin Britanniassa aiemmin tässä kuussa. He ovat nyt päättäneet pyrkiä Britanniaan omia reittejään koettuaan ranskalaisten vastaanottokeskusten heikot olosuhteet.

Eräs näistä piiloleireistä on 30 kilometrin päässä Calais'n satamasta lähellä Norrent-Fontes'n kylää. Vuonna 2008 perustetussa leirissä asuu tällä hetkellä 130 pakolaista, mutta asukkaiden määrä on viime viikkoina kasvanut nopeasti.

Exposed: The lies of the 'refugee' who had an affair with a married charity chief. He wasn't Syrian, he came for a wealthy family, and, most staggering of all, he already had a BRITISH wife

To those who crossed his path in the Calais Jungle, he cut a sympathetic figure as a young Syrian refugee hoping to cross the Channel to start a new life free from fear and persecution.

With his easy charm and near-perfect English, Mohamed Bajjar bridged the yawning gap between the refugees and the British volunteers trying to help them.

Before long, the 27-year-old had become a leading light within one charity, Care4Calais, and a near-constant presence at the side of its married founder, Clare Moseley.

Their relationship, it was reported this week, became romantic and he and 46-year-old former accountant Mrs Moseley embarked on a year-long affair while he worked as her translator and bodyguard.

The liaison, which is said to have ended acrimoniously this month with Mrs Moseley accusing Bajjar — known as 'Kimo' — of trying to con her out of thousands of pounds, has embroiled the charity in a highly damaging scandal, not least because of its strict 'no sex with refugees' policy.

But even that egregious episode appears to be merely the tip of the iceberg.

For the Mail can reveal that not only is Bajjar not a Syrian refugee, but he was married to another British woman at the time of his affair with Mrs Moseley.

Actually a Tunisian market-stall trader, Bajjar embarked on an epic journey from his homeland to France's northern coast — taking in detours to Italy, where he visited his sister, Germany, where he claimed asylum-seeker's allowance, and Poland, where he worked in a factory.

His odyssey sheds a disturbing light on the ease with which economic migrants wanting to reach the UK can pose as refugees to cross borders.

Bajjar's long-suffering British wife Carol Hutchings, who bears a startling resemblance to Clare Moseley, told me this week that she warned both Care4Calais and Mrs Moseley more than a year ago that her cheating husband was tricking them.

'I was ignored,' she says. 'I messaged Clare Moseley online and I could see she'd read my message but I got no reply. Volunteers I contacted on Facebook blocked me. No one wanted to know.'

But in Calais, where volunteers are still working to help those left behind since the Jungle was bulldozed last October, Mrs Moseley has provoked outrage.

'Sex between a refugee and a volunteer is not OK no matter how old they are,' says one woman who used to work with Mrs Moseley. 'The refugees have been to hell and back and are reliant on volunteers for food and warmth.

'To sleep with someone 19 years her junior in that situation utterly disgusts me.'

But of course, Bajjar was no real refugee. His middle-class family owns a souk in Sousse, the Tunisian resort near where a terrorist gunman shot dead 30 British tourists in 2015. His parents are currently building a large multi-storey property in the city.

According to his wife Carol, a 54-year-old mother of two from Manchester: 'He's very ambitious and is happy to use women to get what he wants. Foolishly, I only realised that after I married him.'

Carol first met Bajjar in a nightclub in Sousse while she was on holiday in 2009. 'I wasn't looking for a relationship,' she says, 'but he was charming. I thought he was in love with me.

'He lied about his age and said he was ten years older than he was. Looking back, it was all a con — but I was taken in.'

Carol and Bajjar stayed in touch via Skype and phone calls and he proposed to her six months later. She visited him twice a year, met his mother and twin sister, and they married in March 2014 in a ceremony in French, English and Arabic at his family home.

Carol, who returned to Manchester soon afterwards, considered moving to Tunisia but after the wedding, she says, Bajjar became more demanding and frequently asked her for money. 'He said it was for a visa to come over,' she says.

'At the beginning I'd have moved heaven and earth to get him here, but I told him he needed to sort it out himself. I wasn't sure any more that I even wanted him to come to England.'

Bajjar left Tunisia in September 2014. According to Carol, his parents gave him 3,000 euros (about £2,600) to travel in a fishing boat from Tunis to Palermo in Sicily, where he stayed with his sister for four months.

'He phoned me out of the blue and said: "I got out of Tunisia and I did it without you." '

When he next called in January 2015, he was in Germany.

'He claimed asylum there by saying he was Syrian,' she says, 'But he had a job at a Coca-Cola factory in Poland and he flitted back to Germany each month so he could get his asylum-seeker's allowance.'

Increasing numbers are making their way back to the besieged port town to try and sneak across the Channel on ferries.

A police source said an estimated 400 migrants were already living rough in the area with at least 15 more arriving each day.

The threat of a new crisis comes just four months after 10,000 migrants were moved out of Calais when the sprawling "Jungle" camp was torn down.

Francois Guennoc, vice-president of the Auberge des Migrants aid group, said: "The migrants are coming back and government is in denial about the current situation in Calais."

Confirmation of their return to northern France comes weeks after it emerged that at least six rural refugee settlements had sprung up in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.

There is also evidence that people-trafficking gangs were exploiting service stations on motorways leading to the port to get migrants across the Channel.

Archbishop and Tory MPs criticise closure of child refugee scheme

Pressure grows on PM and home secretary over closure of scheme to bring child refugees to UK after only 350 arrivals

Theresa May has been criticised by the archbishop of Canterbury and a growing number of Tory MPs over her government's decision to limit a scheme to provide a haven in Britain to unaccompanied refugee children in Europe.

Justin Welby said he was "saddened and shocked" by the decision to limit the Dubs scheme to only 350 children, saying he believed ministers had been "committed to welcoming up to 3,000".

The most senior Church of England cleric said it was "regrettable" to end the scheme when it had helped such a small number. "Jesus commands us to care for the most vulnerable," he added.

He was joined by a string of backbench Conservatives, as well as Labour politicians and relief workers, who said the prime minister should lift the cap on numbers, while local councils made clear they could take more refugees if more money was made available.

Heidi Allen, the Conservative MP for South Cambridgeshire, said she and a number of colleagues were angry and would be pressing for the Dubs route to remain open, starting with a parliamentary debate on 23 February.

"Quite a few of us had sensed things were not heading in the right direction and had applied for a backbench debate anyway. That will be the first parliamentary opportunity. There are quite a lot of us that are not going to let this go," she said.

"Our job over the next week or so is to make everyone aware of what has happened and I don't believe we will let this go. All the government has to do is leave the system open and let councils come forward. There is just absolutely no reason to shut the scheme down."

In the House of Lords, Alf Dubs, who originally designed the scheme, accused the prime minister of a breach of the "spirit of the commitment" she had given him during the passage of the Immigration Act last May. He said ministers were "arbitrarily closing down the scheme".

Barbara Winton, whose late father Sir Nicholas Winton helped 669 mostly Jewish children – including the future Lord Dubs, flee Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, asked May to remember the words the prime minister had used at her father's memorial service as the world "once again teeters on the edge of dark times".

An application to expedite a high court legal challenge is to be heard on Friday. The charity Help Refugees, which brought the challenge, claims the government has failed to properly consult local authorities over the number of available places for unaccompanied child refugees as required under the Dubs amendment.

But May and the home secretary, Amber Rudd, strongly defended their decision to close the scheme once one last group of 150 children have been brought to Britain, probably from Greece and Italy.

When May faced questions about the issue at a Downing Street press conference after talks with the Italian prime minister, she emphasised Britain's financial contribution to refugee camps in the Syrian region and the number of refugee children who had arrived in the UK from outside Europe.

"We have been seeing quite a number of children and families being resettled here in the United Kingdom. I think what we are doing in terms of refugees is absolutely right, on top of course of the significant financial support and humanitarian aid we are giving to refugees in the region of Syria – £2.3bn, the second biggest bilateral donor," she said.

Charity workers in Calais said an estimated 200 asylum-seeking children were now living rough in the forests and woodland around the demolished refugee camp, many of whom had expected to be eligible to be transferred to the UK under the Dubs amendment.

"They are not in tents because it makes them more visible to the police; they want to stay secret and out of sight. But it is quite dangerously cold," said Amelia Burr, of Help Refugees. Throughout January nighttime temperatures have been around -5C (23F). "We give out sleeping bags and blankets at night; when we come back the next day the blankets are frozen."

Young asylum seekers were once again attempting to get on to lorries travelling to the UK at night, she said. Last month, a 20-year-old from Eritrea was killed on the motorway. "There is very little legal option for minors who want to get to the UK now, so they are left with only one option, which is to risk their lives to try to get to England."

Natasha Tsangarides, Greece field manager for the charity Safe Passage, which helps refugee children to find legal ways of seeking asylum in the UK, said there were more than 1,000 child refugees in Greece on a waiting list for places in children's shelters who urgently needed help accessing appropriate places to stay.

"A couple of boys are prostituting themselves just to survive in Greece. There are over 1,000 lone, vulnerable and desperate children here, who don't even have a home to sleep in. There is a huge problem here," she said. "If they are going to take no more than 150 children more from across France, Italy and Greece, that's simply not good enough."

Ministers were careful not specify a number when the Dubs amendment made it into law last May, although it had widely been expected that several thousand unaccompanied children would be allowed to enter the UK and that the scheme would remain open in the long term.

Tania Mathias, the Tory MP for Twickenham, said: "It was never expected to be closed at any point. Britain should be leading the way, there should be more resources for local authorities."

She said she was "hopeful because there was such a lot of criticism today" that the government would change its mind and keep the scheme open.

"I've asked authorities to be given more money because they've said it's not a question of looking after the children for one or two years; these are complex cases," she said.

Rudd said the government had fulfilled its obligations. She said 350 was the limit of the capacity of local councils this financial year to fund places.

She also said British and French authorities feared that the existence of the Dubs scheme was "a pull factor" for refugee children to head to Britain and provided opportunities for the people traffickers. "We don't want to incentivise journeys to Europe," she said.

The Iraqi Kurds paid a total of £18,000 to people traffickers before succeeding in crossing the Channel. The mother, father and two young boys finally made it to Dover in the back of a lorry hidden among its cargo of Oreo chocolate biscuits.

The family immediately claimed asylum and are now being housed and fed in refugee accommodation in Cardiff. Jubilant father Hawkar Salah declared: "We made it. This is my dream, of course. We want to build a new life here and we want to stay forever."

The family's extraordinary journey highlights both the persistence and courage of migrants who risk everything to reach the UK. Hawkar, 28, a trained engineer, said their relentless quest lasted two years and they once almost froze to death when loaded into a freezer truck.

Their youngest child was not even born when Hawkar, a Sunni Muslim, and his wife Hozan, now 26, made their way from Iraq into Europe.  They were intent on coming to the UK but people smugglers they had paid £5,000 took them to Norway instead.

They claimed asylum in Scandinavia but were rejected and after 11 months headed to northern France, arriving in September of last year. But Hawkar refused to claim asylum in France, saying he would rather risk the lives of his family trying to reach Britain.

'You look older than 17!?' Moment Sky News host probes Calais 'child' migrants set for UK

A GROUP of child migrants were repeatedly asked how old they were as they waited in Calais in the hope of crossing into Britain.

The three males were filmed waiting on the roadside holding a Union Jack flag as they discussed their desire to leave France for a life in the UK.

Calais was the home of the infamous 'Jungle' camp which housed thousands of migrants until it was bulldozed and cleared in late 2016.

Speaking to three young males, a Sky News reporter asked the trio their ages.

The first of the men said he was 17, causing the reporter to say: "You look older than 17. You really are 17?"

The man, wearing black coat with the hood up, again replied yes.

One of his companions, wearing a thick scarf and a grey wooden hat, was then asked the same question.

He said how he was just 14 and had been in Calais for a year.

The Government is facing a backlash after it performed a "shocking and devastating backtrack" by limiting the number of child refugees accepted into Britain under the Dubs scheme to just 350.

Refugee charity Care4Calais warned more unaccompanied minors were arriving to bleaker-than-ever conditions in the French port town.

But despite this, the Government announced that only a small portion of the anticipated 3,000 child refugees would be accepted into the UK from Europe under the scheme.

The refugee crisis charity called on ministers to reverse the cap as they accused them of "turning their backs" on child refugees fleeing "unthinkable violence".

Since the 'Jungle' camp was torn down, child refugees have been sleeping rough in the streets where they are at a heightened risk of being trafficked.

Sue Jex, head of UK operations at Care4Calais, said: "The scheme has been in place for less than a year, during which time the UK Government has failed to take in even a third of those children who were originally considered under the scheme.

"The problem has not gone away, refugees - including unaccompanied minors - are continuing to arrive in Calais every day, and are now living in conditions far worse than those of last year's jungle.

"We would urge the Government to rethink its decision and act now to urgently bring these children to safety."

Immigration minister Robert Goodwill quietly announced the cap on the Dubs scheme on Wednesday.

Last year a developed over the age of some child refugees who arrived in the UK from Calais.

Many argued the men arriving were significantly older than what they claimed.

One Tory MP warned Britain was at risk of being "taken for a ride".

Philip Davies said the row over the real ages of supposed minors being brought over from the Jungle camp was doing "irreparable damage" to public confidence in the asylum system and called for tougher checks.

The Shipley MP said he had been contacted by a "large number" of people who had said "how angry they are that we're being taken for a ride" since his fellow Tory David Davies made a proposal to make new arrivals undergo dental tests to verify their ages.

However, the Home Office ruled out calls for dental checks to verify the age of Calais migrants as it was "inappropriate and unethical".

Eipä niitä leirin purkamisen jälkeen sumuisille saarille tulleita aikuisialapsiakaan testattu, vaikka sokea reettakin näki pelin hengen. Paikallinen migri eli home office kyhäsi sermin vastaanottokeskuksen ympärille, jottei rasistit pääsisi kuvaamaan vainonalaisia. Ikätestejä silloinkin pidettiin epäeettisinä.

Jotain rasistien huutelu vaikutti, koska britit on pistäneet asian jäihin, kun 500 tarkoitetusta 3500 on otettu.

Ranskan Dunkerquessa sijaitsevalla La Linièren "pakolaisleirillä" naisia ja lapsia hakataan ja raiskataan jatkuvasti. Myös tällä leirillä on Britanniaan pyrkiviä ihmisiä, kuten Calaisissa oli/on. Matkaa sinne on noin 30 km kartasta arvioituna.

Mahtaakohan tätä juttua lukevilla suvakeilla välähtää korvien välissä yhtään mitään vai tuleeko oikosulku?

Kuka niitä naisia ja lapsia raiskailee? "Pakolaismiehet" tietenkin, vaikka ihmissalakuljettajatkin toki mainitaan. "Kaikki miehet näkevät, että olen yksin, ja sama koskee lapsia. Miehet näkevät minut ja he haluavat raiskata minut."

Häviävätkö raiskaustaipumukset kuin taikaiskusta, jos/kun nämä henkilöt pääsevät leiriltä esim. Iso-Britanniaan? No eivät todellakaan.

Nämä niin sanotut hädänalaiset ovat brutaaleja ja väkivaltaisia kusipäitä, joilla ei pitäisi olla mitään tekemistä Euroopassa.

Lehti: Naisia ja lapsia hakataan ja raiskataan pahamaineisella pakolaisleirillä Ranskassa

Britannia ei ota vastaan naisia ja lapsia Dunkerquen leiriltä vaikka ottaa Calais'sta.

Pakolaisilta, lääkäreiltä ja muilta työntekijöiltä kerättyjen lausuntojen mukaan Ranskan Dunkerquessa olevat pakolaiset joutuvat jatkuvasti pahoinpitelyjen ja raiskausten uhriksi, kertoo britannialainen sanomalehti The Guardian.

Britanniaan pyrkiviä ihmisiä majailee leirillä, joka tunnetaan nimellä La Linière. Leiri sijaitsee Grande-Synthessä Dunkerquen laitamilla.

The Guardianin mukaan ihmissalakuljettajat vaativat naisilta ja lapsilta seksiä, jos nämä haluavat esimerkiksi huovan – tai päästä Britanniaan.

"Pakottaminen seksiin ja raiskaaminen ovat aivan liian yleisiä. Alaikäisten kimppuun käydään, ja naisia raiskataan sekä pakotetaan maksamaan salakuljetus kehoillaan", kertoi yksi nimettömänä puhunut leirin vapaaehtoistyöntekijä sanomalehdelle.

Hänen mukaansa leirin naisten keskuudessa ovat aikuisten vaipat kysyttyjä, koska raiskaajien vuoksi naiset eivät uskalla käydä öisin vessassa.

Dunkerquen leirin olosuhteet on jo pitkään tiedetty erittäin huonoiksi. HS kävi leirin mutahelvetissä viime talvena.

Joukko leirillä työskenteleviä vapaaehtoisia on käynnistämässä oikeusjuttua Britannian hallitusta vastaan, koska Britannia ei ota vastaan leirillä olevia yksin tulleita lapsia.

The Guardianin mukaan brittihallitus on suostunut ottamaan lapsia vastaan viime syksynä suljetulta Calais'n "viidakkona" tunnetulta leiriltä mutta ei Dunkerquesta. Vapaaehtoiset keräävät parhaillaan joukkorahoitusta oikeusjuttua varten.

Yksin tulleiden lasten lisäksi leirillä ovat vaarassa myös yksin matkustavat naiset.

"Kaikki miehet näkevät, että olen yksin, ja sama koskee lapsia. Miehet näkevät minut ja he haluavat raiskata minut."

Yksi leirin työntekijöistä kertoi tapauksesta, jossa nainen piteli alakouluikäistä, ilmeisesti raiskatuksi tullutta lasta mutta ei uskaltanut kertoa raiskauksesta poliisille. "Hän seisoi hiljaa ja kieltäytyi tekemästä ilmoitusta", työntekijä muisteli The Guardianin mukaan.

YK:n pakolaisjärjestön UNHCR:n mukaan Eurooppaan on tänä vuonna tullut vaarallisia merireittejä pitkin vajaat kymmenentuhatta ihmistä. Noin 250:n pelätään hukkuneen vajaan puolentoista kuukauden kuluessa.

Eurooppaan tulleita on eri puolilla Eurooppaa. Heitä on esimerkiksi jumissa Serbiassa, Unkarin rajalla.
