A Pakistani migrant who travelled across Europe to get to Germany has defended himself against five counts of sex assault by declaring "it's hard to get a girlfriend if you are a refugee".

Asif M, 26, appeared in Berlin Regional Court, where he read out a statement trying to explain the attacks.

The prosecution accuses him of having raped a young woman and committed five more sexual assaults. Asif M confirms most of the attacks between April 29 and July 25.

Prosecutors say he approached lone women in the street and told them it was his birthday.

When the women rejected him he pounced, it is alleged.

He pulled his first victim to the ground, kissed her, grabbed her chest.

The prosecution said: "After he briefly let go of her and the witness tried to leave.

"The accused asked her to stay and undressed the witness, which she endured for fear of further violence.

"Then the accused performed unprotected vaginal sexual intercourse against the will of the witness."

Other women Asif M was said to have attacked, defended themselves and screamed, causing him to flee.

In Asif M's statement, he apologised, saying he did not attack anyone on his journey through Europe.

It added: "But in Germany, it somehow came out of me.

"It is hard to get a girlfriend if you are a refugee and have nothing to offer.

"I wanted to have sex."

He said he had drunk excessively before the attacks, included when he worked before the bar at a restaurant.

He also smoked a marijuana joint before the rape.

But he claims when he pulled the woman to the ground and had sex with her she "did not resist".

However, the victim claims he apologised to her and said "are you mad at me?" after the incident.

For the defence, Ralph Schaefer told the judge: "I asked (Asif M) if there were exchanges of affection coming from witness J. He says no, she did not do anything. And that he did not realise his mistake until she said she did not like it."

At first, the court had considered agreeing with the defence on a sentence of three years and three months to three years and nine months, in order to spare the women to have to make a public statement.

But due to contradictory statements of the defendant, the chairman now wants to question some of the victims.

Opaschowski dpa-uutistoimistolle Hampurissa. Nyt enää vain joka seitsemäs vastanneista (15%) oli tätä mieltä.

"Ylivoimaisen enemmistön illuusiot ovat haihtuneet - kaikissa yhteiskuntaluokissa", kertoi Opaschowski.

Hampurilaisien BAT-säätiön teettämässä tulevaisuuden kysymyksiä koskevassa edustavassa tutkimuksessa saatiin aivan samanlainen tulos. Tutkimuksen mukaan vain 16% katsoi, että ulkomaalaisten integrointi muuttuu helpommaksi vuonna 2017.

Ipsoksen tutkimuksen mukaan 40% saksalaisista katsoo, että muukalaisvihamielisyys tulee lisääntymään Saksassa vuoden 2017 aikana. Itäsaksalaisista tätä mieltä oli 46% ja länsisaksalaisista vain 39%. Lisäksi koetaan lisääntyvää huolta valmiudesta vihaan ja väkivaltaan. 44% vastanneista ilmaisi tämän pelon. Itäsaksalaiset ovat tässä asiassa selkeästi enemmän huolissaan (61%) kuin länsisaksalaiset (41%).

Angela Merkel went to lay white roses at the scene of the Christmas market attack in Berlin. Thousands of Germans did the same. Many brought candles and cried. But anger and the will to combat the threat remained largely absent.

Nothing better describes the present state of Germany than the sad fate of Maria Landenburger, a 19-year-old girl, murdered at the beginning of December. A member of a refugee relief organization, Landenburger was among those who welcomed migrants in 2015. She was raped and murdered by one of the people she was helping. Her family asked anyone who wanted to pay tribute to their daughter to give money to refugee associations, so that more refugees could come to Germany.

The law that condemns incitement to hatred, presumably intended to prevent a return to Nazi ideas, is held like a sword over whoever speaks too harshly of the growing Islamization of the country.

The great majority of the Germans do not want to see that Germany is at war, because a merciless enemy has declared war on them. They do not want to see that war has been declared on Western civilization. They accept defeat and docilely do what jihadists want them to do: they submit.

If Angela Merkel does not see the difference between Jews exterminated by the Nazis, and Muslims threatening to exterminate Christians, Jews and other Muslims, she is even more clueless than it seems.

The attack in Berlin on December 19, 2016 was predictable. German Chancellor Angela Merkel created the conditions that made it possible. She bears an overwhelming responsibility. Geert Wilders, a member of Parliament in the Netherlands and one of Europe's only clear-sighted political leaders, accused her of having blood on her hands. He is right.

When she decided to open the doors of Germany to hundreds of thousands of Muslims from the Middle East and more distant countries, she must have known that jihadists were hidden among the people flooding in. She also must have known that the German police had no way of controlling the mass that entered and would be quickly overwhelmed by the number of people it would have to control. She did it anyway.

When hundreds of rapes and sexual assaults took place in Cologne and other cities in Germany on last year's New Year's Eve, she said that the perpetrators should be punished "regardless of their origin", but she did not change her policy. When attacks took place in Hanover, Essen, Wurzburg, and Munich, she delayed comments, then pronounced sanitized sentences on the "need" to fight crime and terror. But she still did not change policy.

She only changed her position recently, it seems because she wants to be a candidate again in 2017, and saw her popularity declining.

The comments she made immediately after the December 19 attacks were mind-numbing. She said that "if the perpetrator is a refugee", it will be "very difficult to bear" and it will be "particularly repugnant for all Germans who help refugees on a daily basis."

Such remarks could be considered simply naïve if someone were not informed, but Angela Merkel does not have that excuse. She could not ignore warnings from German and U.S. intelligence services saying that Islamic State terrorists hiding among refugees were planning to use trucks in Christmas-related attacks. The situation endured by Germans has been extremely difficult to bear for more than a year. Crime had "skyrocketed"; diseases extinct for decades have been brought in with no vaccines -- long since discontinued -- to treat them; second homes are seized by the government without compensation to shelter migrants, and so on. It did not take long to discover that the main suspect in the Berlin attack was an asylum seeker living in a refugee shelter.

In another country, Merkel might have been shamed into resigning; in Germany, she is running for re-election.

The German population is aged and the birthrate is dangerously low: 1.38 children per woman. The immigrants are replacing the German population, which has been disappearing little by little. The Germans who pass away are the Christians or, more often, non-religious secularists. As everywhere in Europe, Christianity is disappearing; the immigrants replacing the Germans are Muslim.

The German economy is still strong but running out of steam. Returns on invested capital are declining. At a time when human capital is the main source of profits, German human capital is collapsing: people from underdeveloped countries cannot easily replace highly educated Germans. Most do not have marketable skills; newcomers remain long unemployed and dependent. Of the 1.2 million migrants who arrived in Germany in 2014 and 2015, only 34,000 found work. If the unemployment rate is low, it is because there is a growing shortage of labor: today 61% Germans are between 20 and 64 years old. It is expected that by mid-century, the figure will fall to 41%.

Politically correct propaganda speeches that are inexhaustibly broadcast in Germany -- as in the rest of Europe -- never speak of demography. Instead, they refute any evidence that the German economy is not doing well. They also say that Islam and Christianity are equivalent; they are obstinately blind to the fact that Islam is more than a religion: it is a political, economic, and moral system that encompasses all aspects of life, and has never coexisted long or peacefully in a culture different from it. These speeches almost totally ignore the rise of radical Islam and jihadist terrorism; instead, they argue that radical Islam is a marginal cult, and that jihadist terrorism only recruits lone wolves or the mentally ill. Above all, they constantly repeat that any criticism of migration or Islam is ignominious and racist.

The German population is intimidated with fear, both by the antisocial behavior of many migrants and by the speech police of their own governments. Many Germans do not even dare to speak. Those who use public transportation resign themselves to insults. They bend their head and run for refuge to their homes. Attendance in restaurants and theaters is falling sharply. Women have become resigned to wearing "modest" outfits and are careful to not go out alone. Protests organized by Pegida (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West) have never attracted more than a few thousand people after a photograph of its founder was released in which he was styled as Hitler.

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which calls for a halt to Muslim immigration to Germany and keeps on winning more votes, nevertheless remains a minority party. In analyzing the December 19 attack on the Christmas market, German journalist Josef Joffe, editor of Die Zeit, explained Angela Merkel's decision to welcome refugees as "an act of atonement" and a way to welcome a threatened population, seven decades after the Holocaust. He also explained the passivity of many Germans by a feeling of collective guilt.

If Joffe is right, if Angela Merkel does not see the difference between Jews exterminated by the Nazis, and Muslims threatening to exterminate Christians, Jews and other Muslims, she is even more clueless than it seems.

If many Germans are filled with collective guilt to the point that they want to compensate for what Germany did to the Jews by welcoming hundreds of thousands of Muslims many of whom openly state that they want to replace Germany's Judeo-Christian culture with Islam, and who are replacing its Christian population with a Muslim one -- that will include ruthless killers in its ranks -- it shows that Germans today either detest themselves so much that they desire their own destruction, or that they have simply lost their will to stand up for what they care about -- an act otherwise known as surrender.

Kuinka integraatio voisi sitten onnistua Euroopassa?

Sivistysmaissa enää nykyään harvoin lähtee jokin porukka laittamaan jotakin perseilevää etnistä ryhmää ojennukseen. Sivistymättömissä maissa ei edes tarvita mitään syytä, kuten monikulttuurin paratiisissa eli Jugoslaviassa tehtiin, täysistä paskastanioista nyt puhumattakaan. Eurooppalainen monikulttuurisuus on sitä, että kehitysmaalaiset liiskaa, ampuu, räjäyttää, raiskaa, hakkaa ja muuten vaan perseilee. Sivistysmaalaisen rooliksi jää maksamisen lisäksi sietää, suvaita, hyväksyä ja sulkea silmät noilta asioilta. Siinä mielessä eurooppalainen monikulttuurisuus on onnistunut. Se onkin sitten eri asia, onko tällainen monikulttuurisuus sitten hyvä ja kiva juttu. Ainakin tähän mennessä on ollut niin, että kuka on vastustanut tuollaista meininkiä, on ollut rasifisti ja impivaarallinen.

Matuintegraation onnistuminen ei ole uskon asia. Sen epäonnistuminen jo lähtökohtaisestikin luulisi olevan tyhmimmällekin tallaajalle itsestäänselvyys, kun ottaa huomioon integroitavien kulttuuriset ja kivikautiset ideologiset erityispiirteet.

Liittokansleri Angela Merkel katsoo, että saksalaiset ovat kuluneen vuoden aikana joutuneet "koviin koettelemuksiin". Hän kehotti uuden vuoden puheessaan saksalaisia "vastustamaan terroristien vihan maailmaa myötätunnolla ja yhtenäisyydellä". Merkel sanoi: "Yhdessä olemme vahvempia. Meidän valtiomme on vahvempi."

Vaikein koettelemus on islamistinen terrorismi, sanoi Merkel viitaten kesällä Baijeriin ja äskettäin Berliinin joulumarkkinoille tehtyihin iskuihin.

Ansbachissa ja Würzburgissa tehtyjen iskujen taustat ovat tosiasiassa epäselviä. Myös Berliinin rekkaiskusta yleisöllä ei ole mitään riippumatonta ja varmistettavissa olevaa tietoa, joka vahvistaisi kiistatta "islamistisen iskun". Merkel totesi jo hyvin varhaisessa vaiheessa, että "terroristinen tausta" on hyvin todennäköistä. Pitkälti epäselvän ja ristiriitaisten tosiasioiden johdosta on merkittävää, että Merkel mainitsi puheessaan uudelleen pakolaisvirran ja terrorin välisen yhteyden. Itseasiassa kanslerin olisi pitänyt harjoittaa mitä suurinta pidättyvyyttä, ennen kuin todella pitävät todisteet rikoksen tekijästä ja motiiveista, sekä taustavoimista on tuotu esille.

Kansleri on kuitenkin rajojen avaamisen ja monilla alueilla vallitsevien kaoottisten olosuhteiden takia valtavan paineen alla - ja silti hän laittaa teot yksiselitteisesti pakolaisten kontolle. Merkel ei maininnut sitä tosiasiaan, että Syyriaan lietsottiin sota, jossa vastuussa julmuuksista ovat pääosin Lännen kanssa liittoutuneiden Persianlahden maiden rahoittamat palkkasoturit. Ilman ulkoapäin tuettua valtausta ei Alepposta olisi koskaan tullut sotatoimialuetta. CIA ja Saudi-Arabia ovat myöntäneet olevansa sotilaallisesti aktiivisia Syyriassa. Molemmat kuuluvat Lännen allianssiin. Vain muutama päivä sitten Saksan puolustusministeri Ursula von der Leyden vieraili Riadissa ja hän oli sopinut saudien kanssa sotilaallisen yhteistyön tiivistämisestä.

Demokratia, oikeusvaltio ja saksalaiset arvot ovat "vastalääke (Gegenentwurf) terrorismin vihantäyteiselle maailmalle ja ne tulevat olemaan vahvempia kuin terrorismi", sanoi kansleri. Valtio tekee kaikkensa, taatakseen kansalaistensa turvallisuuden vapaudessa. Liittohallitus tulee vuoden 2017 aikana ryhtymään tarpeellisiin toimenpiteisiin siltä osin, kuin poliittiset tai lakia koskevat muutokset ovat tarpeellisia. On epäselvää tulevatko nämä "toimenpiteet" todellakin parantamaan kansalaisten turvallisuutta vai johtavatko ne enemmänkin siihen, että vapautta tullaan kohtuuttomasti kaventamaan.

Merkel puhui myös EU-kriisistä: "Eurooppa on hidas. Se on työläs", myönsi hän. Se on saanut myös syviä viiltoja, kuten erään jäsenvaltion ero, sanoi hän viitaten brittien Brexit-päätökseen. "Mutta ei - meidän saksalaisten ei tule koskaan antaa johtaa itseämme harhaan, onnellinen tulevaisuus ei voi koskaan toteutua kansallisella omin päin toimimisella", sanoi hän. Merkel jätti kuitenkin mainitsematta, että saksalaisten omin päin tekemä rajojen avaaminen syyskuussa 2015 oli syy luottamuksen menettämiseen EU:ssa. Merkel ei myöskään käsitellyt George Sorosin kritiikkiä, että Saksa oli vastuussa EU:n hajoamisesta pitäessään sinnikkäästi kiinni säästötoimista (Austerität).

Kansleri ylisti parlamentaarisen demokratian vahvuutta. On "harhakuva" väittää, että se ei piittaa kansalaistensa intresseistä, vaan toimii vain joidenkin harvojen etujen mukaisesti. Merkel kertoi mitä hän odottaa politiikan kriittiseltä tarkastelulta: "Kritiikkiä, jota esitetään rauhanomaisesti ja kunnioittaen yksittäisiä ihmisiä, joka etsii ratkaisuja ja kompromisseja, eikä jätä kokonaisia ryhmiä ulkopuolelle."

Angela Merkel kehui sosiaalista markkinataloutta: "Sen avulla voimme hallita paremmin kriisejä ja muutosprosesseja, kuin mikään muu talousjärjestelmä maailmassa. Koskaan meillä ei ole ollut näin paljon ihmisiä töissä kuin nyt. Merkel ei kuitenkaan maininnut, että monissa EU-maissa nuorisotyöttömyys on jo vuosikausien ajan ollut hyvin korkealla tasolla ja että myös Saksassa työllisyysbuumi on vallinnut ennen kaikkea matalapalkkasektorilla.

"Yhtenäisyys, avoimuus, demokratiamme ja vahva talous, ne toimivat kaikkien hyväksi: Tämä saa minut luottamaan tulevaisuutemme täällä Saksassa, myös raskaan vuoden jälkeen", sanoi kansleri puheessaan.

Like it or not, global leadership has been thrust upon Germany

Chancellor Angela Merkel thought long and hard about whether to run for office again in Germany's 2017 parliamentary election. She has made the right choice in standing for a fourth term, despite the dangers of staying in power too long that have plagued many long-serving leaders, not least her mentor, Helmut Kohl.

With Donald Trump moving into the White House, Ms Merkel has faced calls to assume the mantle of leader of the western liberal world from Barack Obama. She dismisses the demands as "grotesque and absurd," but she may not have much choice in the matter. The job is thrust upon her by the lack of another plausible candidate and the admirable positions she has staked out. She has pledged to fight for democracy, free trade and open societies, and has refused to leave the field to nationalists, whether Mr Trump, Russia's Vladimir Putin or Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban.

It is certainly a moment in history when a German chancellor assumes this role. Seven decades after the destruction of Nazi Germany, Berlin is once more in a position to contemplate global leadership, albeit cautiously. This is a tribute to the country's transformation since 1945, to its ranking as an economic superpower, and its primacy in the European Union.

Even more, it is a reflection of the disengagement of others, notably a Brexit-bound UK, a weak France, and the US, which under Mr Obama has curtailed its involvement in global affairs.

Ms Merkel rightly insists that Berlin will move forward only with partners. Germany lacks the economic resources and military power of the US. It is fated by history and geography to work with European allies, even as the EU struggles for coherence.

Third World invaders pretending to be refugees in Germany carried out at least 1,964 serious sex attacks in Germany during 2016, preying on 2,000 adults and 1,000 children, a new study by monitoring group XY Einzefall has shown.

The true number of attacks and victims is much higher, because police are under orders to withhold hundreds of reports and only respond if the media makes inquiries.

XY Einzefall is a German-based monitoring group which has carefully recorded every sex assault carried out in Germany since Angela Merkel opened that country's gates to the mass Third World invasion in 2015.

Their final report for 2016, which can be found in spreadsheet format here, reveals that reported incidents only total 1,964, consisting of at least 201 rapes, 1,559 sex attacks, and 204 sex attacks in public swimming pools.

Only incidents which were actually reported by the police, or which were reported in the controlled media, were added to the XY Einzefall list. Their spreadsheet contains the links to the police and media reports.

Of the 201 reported rapes, at least 35 were minors, the study showed. Of the 1,559 sex attacks, 653 victims were minors, and of the 204 swimming pool sex attacks, 286 were minors.

This works out at nearly six serious sex attacks every day during 2016.

However, as XY Einzelfall points out in its study, these figures are merely the tip of the iceberg. Quoting a separate study in Austria, the groups said that "only a tiny fraction of all crimes are published as a police or media-report."

The Austrian study quoted compared complaints laid with the police to those reported by the police's media officers and those reported in the media. The difference was vast, the study said, finding that in Vienna, of the more than 200,000 complaints made to police, less than 2,000 police reports were actually published.

With regard to rape cases, the study found, of the 647 rapes reported to the police, only 15 were ever mentioned by police reports and media.

"For this reason," the study says, "the total number of crimes committed by migrants is much higher."
