All I can say is that if you read this piece you can see the epitome of the mindset of the contemporary cultural and business elites. A sickly brew of self righteous faux "compassion" stirred together with 'open for business' liberalism and an unhealthy dose of 'change is inevitable' cultural Marxism.

The 'celebration' mass immigration is a carefully disguised exercise in power politics and profit. Social change must be organic and consensual not based on the greed for power of the left and the greed for profit by the neo cons.

The only positive behind this piece is that little by little it helps to reveal the great unspoken truth - that the big businessman and the fashionista are part of the same movement - the same world view and the same vision. What they believe in is that the mass of humanity is ultimately reducible to the materialistic individual devoid of culture, roots, community, family (even gender) whose entire identity is a consumer, worker or victim. Above this seething mass sits a class of "educated and liberal" people who work in corporations (either private or public) that manage the system.

These liberals and business people use the language of progress to define themselves. We can see in the context of the EU exit debate how the Guardian liberal and the big banks (who claim to be in opposition) in fact co-locate around the same position.
