Lontoossa poliisi on ampunut miestä, joka oli puukottanut useita ihmisiä. Poliisi kertoo Twitterissä epäilevänsä, että kyseessä oli terroriteko.

Iskussa haavoittui poliisin mukaan ainakin kaksi ihmistä. Heidän vammojensa vakavuudesta ei ole toistaiseksi tietoa.

Puukotukset ja ampuminen tapahtuivat Streathamissa kaupungin eteläosassa.

Poliisi on eristänyt rikospaikan ja pyytänyt ihmisiä välttämään liikkumista alueella.

Mielenkiintoinen otsikointi tuo "terrorismiin kytkeytyvä isku." Kuinka kieroksi otsikko pitää sorvata jottei paljastuisi että isku voisi vaikkapa olla... terrorismia itsessään?

Tämä alkaa näyttää vahvasti jälleen allahu akbar -tapaukselta, sillä tekijällä kerrotaan olleen feikki-itsemurhaliivi ja turvallisuuslähteet kertovat, että tapaus liittyy islamismiin.

En löytänyt Sky Newsilta nettijuttua tästä islamismimaininnasta, varmaan tullut uutislähetyksessä. Siitä kerrotaan mm. Independentin päivittyvässä liveseurannassa.

London 'terror attack' – live: Man shot dead by police after several stabbed on Streatham high street

A man has been shot by armed police after reportedly stabbing several people on a London high street.

The incident in Streatham has been declared a terror-related attack, the Metropolitan Police said on Sunday.

The police warned people to stay away from the area, which was cordoned off, with traffic diverted and passengers forced off buses.

The Independent's home affairs and security correspondent Lizzie Dearden has more context on the incident:

The Streatham stabbing is the third terror attack to hit UK since security services lowered the national threat from severe to substantial in November, meaning attacks were deemed "likely" rather than "highly likely".

The first was the stabbing that left two dead at Fishmongers' Hall on 30 November, and the second by inmates at HMP Whitemoor last month. The perpetrators of those attacks were known extremists who had been jailed for terror offences.

Sky News cited security sources as saying the incident was related to Islamist militancy, but the Metropolitan Police would not comment on the validity of this suggestion.

Images suggest the attacker was wearing a device that looked like an explosive vest. Fake vests have been worn in previous terror attacks in the capital.

Harmi kun Iltalehti siivonnut jo pois "terroristinen joukkopuukotus" termin otsikoistaan, liekö tullut palautetta? Terrorismiin kytkeytyvä isku on maikkarilta melkein yhtä mutkalle vääntynyt ilmaisu. Jotain hämärää logikkaa näidenkin takana taas on, ehkä pelkkä terrori-isku on nyt vaan liian rasistinen?

Eri lähteistä kokoamalla selviää, että terroristi oli reilu parikymppinen mies, kalmon kuvan mukaan on vaikea sanoa, onko tämä arabi, maghrebi vai minkä taustainen muslimi tällä kertaa, pitkä, tumma tukka ja vaalea iho. Terroristi oli islamisti ja tuttu terrorismin vastaiselle poliisille sekä poliisin aktiivisessa seurannassa, median mukaan myös iskuhetkellä, ja siksi poliisi oli heti paikalla niittaamassa tämän iskun alettua. Se, että pääsee poliisin aktiiviseen (=kokoaikaiseen) seurantaan tarkoittaa henkilön muodostavan suuren uhan turvallisuudelle ja/tai että iskun uhka on välitön.

Jihadisti puukotti kahta uhria, miestä ja naista, aseenaan machete tai muu suurikokoinen veitsi, kolmas uhri loukkaantui lievästi poliisin ampuessa tekijän, ilmeisesti lasinsirpaleista. Puukotuksen miesuhri on loukkaantunut hengenvaarallisesti.

Statement from DAC Lucy D'Orsi:

At approximately 1400hrs on Sunday, 2 February two people were stabbed in Streatham High Road, Lambeth.

As part of a proactive Counter Terrorism operation, armed officers were in immediate attendance and shot a male suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A third person also received minor injuries - believed to have been caused by glass following the discharge of the police firearm.

A device was found strapped to the body of the suspect and specialist officers attended.

Cordons were put in place and it was quickly established that this was a hoax device.

Three victims have been taken to south London hospitals. One man is being treated as life-threatening, one woman has non-life threatening injuries and another woman has minor injuries.

My thoughts are with the victims and their loved-ones at this time.

The situation has been contained and officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command are now leading an investigation into the incident. The incident was quickly declared as a terrorist incident and we believe it to be Islamist-related.

The Streatham attacker was under active surveillance, and was well known to the counter-terror authorities, the Guardian understands. He was also the subject of a live investigation.

For someone to be under active surveillance requires the highest level of resources, and would only be used those against posing the most serious risk - and potentially planning an attack.

The terrorist who launched a stabbing attack on a London high street was being monitored by undercover police officers at the time, Scotland Yard has confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police said the man – who has not yet been named – was being followed as part of a "proactive counterterrorism operation" when he started the rampage in Streatham.

He was able to stab two people before being shot dead by armed officers who were "in immediate attendance".

Deputy Assistant Commissiomer Lucy D'Orsi said a third person was injured by flying glass when police opened fire at 2pm.

The attacker died at the scene, where he could be seen lying face down on the ground wearing the fake suicide vest, with a knife next to his body.

Witnesses described the man shouting "Allahu akbar" during the attack, which happened in front of numerous shoppers and passers-by on Sunday afternoon.

A suspected terrorist who stabbed two people before being gunned down by police in Streatham was released from prison just days ago.

Whitehall sources said Sudesh Amman had very recently been released from prison, where he had been serving a sentence for the possession and distribution of extremist material.

It is understood that he left prison just a matter of days ago after serving half of his more-than three year sentence.

A Whitehall source said: "He was under surveillance, that is what allowed police to do their job so quickly. It could have been much worse than it was.

"There had been concerns when he was in prison but there were no powers for any authority to keep him behind bars.

"There was nothing that could be done to keep him behind bars under existing laws, hence why he was under surveillance and strict licencing conditions.

Streathamin muslimiterroristi Sudesh Ammanin vanhemmat ovat kotoisin Sri Lankalta eli tausta ei ole ehkä se tavanomaisin.

Amman oli aiemmin pitänyt jonkinlaista päiväkirjaa, johon hän oli ennen vuoden 2018 terrorismituomiota kirjoittanut jihadista ja mm. haluavansa kuolla marttyyrinä ja mennä paratiisiin. Lisäksi tämä oli ilmeisesti jo tuolloin fantasioinut terrori-iskun tekemisestä veitsellä, joten äidin vakuuttelut siitä, että radikalisoituminen tapahtui vasta vankilassa, vaikuttaa paskapuheelta. Ei sinänsä yllätä, koska muslimit kyseessä.

Mother of Streatham terrorist reveals her 'disgust' at son's attack, claims he was radicalised in Belmarsh – and how he asked for his favourite mutton biryani just hours before his knife rampage

Terrorist Sudesh Amman asked his mother for his favourite mutton biryani meal just hours before he was shot dead by police in London, she revealed today as it emerged she was left 'disgusted' by the terror attack.

Haleema Khan, 41, , of Dunstable, Bedfordshire, learned about both yesterday's attack in Streatham and her son's death from TV news, having spoken to him on the phone earlier in the day when he asked for the meal.

It comes as Mrs Khan revealed three pictures of Amman as a boy - shirtless and pulling a face while playing on the pavement; posing with a neck chain while eating with a fork; and holding a vacuum cleaner.

She described her son as a 'lovely boy' as she fought back tears today while telling MailOnline how she felt he was radicalised at HMP Belmarsh in Thamesmead, South East London. The top-security jail has been home to a number of high-profile extremist prisoners, including Lee Rigby killers Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale.

Mrs Khan is now trying to get her son's body from police as soon as possible to bury him.

Amman lived with Mrs Khan and his five younger brothers in Harrow, North West London, before he was jailed for terror offences at the Old Bailey in December 2018. A family source said Mrs Khan was 'disgusted' by the attack, although neighbours said she had been convinced of her son's innocence even after he was convicted.

She told MailOnline today: 'He wasn't even a very devoted Muslim. He got radicalised while he was in Belmarsh Prison (in Thamesmead, South East London).

'He got into all this (supporting terrorism) on the internet, but when he went to prison something happened to him.'

Amman stabbed two people in Streatham yesterday at about 2pm. His parents are from Sri Lanka where his father Faraz Khan was today.

Mrs Khan said she learned about his death from TV news, adding: 'I saw that there had been something in Streatham, and I got worried.'

'Then I saw the police and what was happening. A short while later they gave his name on the television. The police came to see me yesterday and told me too.'

'Die as a martyr': Terrorist revealed four 'life goals' in chilling notebook

The Islamic terrorist shot dead by police in London yesterday kept a notebook with his four 'life goals' – including being a martyr and going to paradise.

Sudesh Amman's notes were revealed when he was jailed for 13 terror offences at the Old Bailey, 14 months before his terror rampage in Streatham yesterday.

He kept a notebook in which he wrote that his 'goals in life' were: 'Die as a shuhada', which means martyr, and 'go to jannah', which translates as paradise.

It said: 'We need the jihad, the jihad doesn't need us - goals in life: 1) Die as a shuhada; 2) Go to Jannah; 3) Have fun with all my hoor al-ayn; and 4) Party with my brothers and my mother in Jannah.'

The Old Bailey was also told during the sentencing hearing in December 2018 that Amman had been fascinated with carrying out a terror attack using a knife.

Speaking after he was jailed, Alexis Boon, then head of the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command, said of the notebook: 'Top of the list, above family activities, was dying a martyr and going to 'Jannah' - the afterlife.'

Wearing a black prayer cap and long black tunic, Amman smirked when he was told that he was facing a sentence of just three years and four months.

Poliisin ainoa vaihtoehto on kulkea terroristin perässä ja toimia vasta sitten kun joltain on jo kaula auki. Jihadistit nauravat partaansa kun käyttävät häikäilemättömästi hyväksi länsimaalaisten hyväuskoista järjestelmää.

Mitäs luulette, montako vuotta ennen kuin Bouanane on jälleen torilla fileeroimassa ihmisiä? Tämä sama näytelmähän tullaan katsomaan Suomessa, se ei varmasti ole kellekään epäselvää.
