"Destination Home"

"Destination Home" is a documentary film about a Liberian refugee SAMUEL "SAM" REAYAH and his family. The family has been separated for five years and live in uncertainty waiting for family reunion. While Sam and their younger daughter Ruth continue their lives in Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana, his wife Decontee and older daughter Joyce have already started a new life in Rochester, USA.

"Destination home" explores the idea of home. Sam's family had a home in Liberia, but they had to give it up. They were forced to build homes elsewhere. They built a home in Ghana, they build a home in The United States. But which home does the heart belong to?

The film is directed by the documentary filmmakers Veera Lehto-Michaud and Maria Seppälä. It is produced by Elli Toivonniemi of Tuffi Films.

Seurantadokumentti Liberian pakolaisesta SAMUEL "SAM" REAYAH:sta , ja hänen tyttärestään, RUTHISTA. He asuvat Buduburamin pakolaisleirillä Ghanassa.  Isä ja tytär ovat odottaneet viisi pitkää vuotta perheenyhdistämistä. Yhdysvalloissa, Rochesterissa , perheen äiti Decontee ja vanhempi tytär Joyce odottavat samaa. Yhteyttä pidetään päivittäin, mutta epävarmuus jälleennäkemisestä jäytää.

Sam ja Ruth ovat rakentaneet elämänsä pakolaisleiriin, jossa päivät koostuvat työssäkäyvän yksinhuoltajaisän arjesta. Pakolaisleirillä pääsee onneksi kouluun. Niin Rochesterissa kuin Buduburamissakin on pakko elää arkea, kaipuusta huolimatta.

"Meno-paluu" käsittelee kotia. Mikä luo kodin? Missä koti lopulta on? Samin perheellä oli koti Liberiassa, mutta sisällissota ajoi kaikki erilleen ja asumaan leiriolosuhteisiin. He rakensivat kodit kauas Ghanaan ja Yhdysvaltoihin; erillään ja yhdessä. Mutta kaipaako sydän kuitenkin lopulta juurilleen?
