FRANCE TERROR: Police swarm as 7 injured after man goes on rampage in Toulouse

SEVEN people have been attacked in the French city of Toulouse by a man allegedly shouting 'Allahu Akbar'.

The man, believed to be in his early 40s, shouted 'Allahu Akbar' before launching an attack on members of the public on Avenue Frederic-Estebe.

Officers were quickly alerted to the situation by passersby and it took three officers to bring the situation under control, according to French news site La Depeche.

One man told local media: "We were chatting and he jumped on us. He first caught my son and then beat my daughter. We ran."

The attacker was not carrying any weapons but two victims were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

According to local reports, the man is well-known to authorities.

The police union SGP unit responded immediately and "gives its full support to the officials involved" while praising the "professional and cool" handling of a "delicate" situation.

The perpetrator is believed to have stayed in a psychiatric hospital before he was released in April this year and reportedly burst into tears when officials managed to detain him.

A man has been arrested after he reportedly stabbed a number of people including police officers in the French city of Toulouse, according to reports.

Local media is reporting that the man attacked innocent civilians while shouting Allahu Akbar. It is believed that he assaulted four people.

Police were called to the scene and three of them were injured during the arrest.

According to La Dépêche , the three policemen on the patrol were injured "on the tibia, on the shoulder or on the cervical".

A man attacked passers-by on the streets of Toulouse Wednesday afternoon before turning on four police officers who attempted to restrain him. A total of seven people, including three police were injured in the incident.

The alleged attacker, who was released from a psychiatric hospital in April according to La Depeche, attacked passers by on Avenue Frédéric Estèbe before police responded. He allegedly started to cry when the four officers finally managed to restrain him.

La Depeche reported that the man yelled "Allahu akbar" when carrying out the attack.

Three of the officers and four civilians were injured, according to RTL. Two were taken to Toulouse-Rangueil hospital. Additional police were sent to the area.
