2010-12-29 Italia: Italia palautti maahan saapuneita egyptiläisiä

Toissapäivänä Italiaan saapui laivalla 62 laitontamaahantulijaa jotka väittivät olevansa Gazan palestiinalaisia jotka osoittautuivat kuitenkin egyptiläisiksi. 32 väitti olevansa alaikäisiä, mutta ikämääritysten jälkeen vain 13 osoittautui alaikäisiksi. Alaikäiset toimitettiin lapsista huolehtiville organisaatioille, mutta loput passitettiin kotimaahansa vain tunteja sen jälkeen kun viranomaiset olivat saaneet heidät käsiinsä.

Ulkoministeriön mukaan kyseessä on hyvä esimerkki säät miten tehokkaasti viranomaisyhteistyö maahanmuuttovirasto, poliisi ja Egyptin kanssa toimii.

IMMIGRATION: ITALY REPATRIATES EGYPTIANS, CLAIMED FROM GAZA
(ANSAmed) - ROME/CAIRO, DECEMBER 29 - 49 Egyptians, part of the group of 62 illegal aliens traced down the other day in Barletta (Bari), who claimed they were Palestinians from Gaza, were repatriated yesterday to Cairo with a charter flight from the Bari airport.

According to a report by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 32 claimed they were minors, but anthropometric exams proved that only 13 were such. The latter were consequently handed over to organisations for minors in Italy, while the others were repatriated to Egypt. The repatriation of the 49 illegal aliens only hours after being tracked down ''is the direct consequence of the increasingly solid cooperation relations between the Central Immigration Direction and the Border Police and the Egyptian diplomatic representation in Italy'', according to the statement by the Italian Ministry. According to today's report by the Mena agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for the response by Italian authorities to the efforts carried out by the Ministry itself and the Cairo embassy in Rome for the release of the ''arrested'' Egyptians for having illegally entered the Country. In truth they had been held for identification purposes and a decree to expel them was issued later.
