Mayor: Moroccan Teenage Criminals are "Internal Enemy"

ZALTBOMMEL, 27/02/10 - Mayors are not expected to make spice political statements, but Albert van den Bosch broke with this doctrine Friday. The conservative (VVD) mayor characterised Moroccan criminals as the "internal enemy".

The VVD mayor urged special legislation to put a stop to intimidation by Moroccan youths. "The people are fed up. Do something about it as government!" he said in the civil servants' journal Binnenlands Bestuur.

"I am fed up with how Iraq and Afghanistan have been discussed for months, while nothing is done about a much bigger problem. (...) I do not understand that so many billions are being put into purchasing JSF fighter aircraft if you could also have very many extra police officers for this money. Who is our enemy? Do we need an expensive airforce for vague wars in far places, or is the enemy within, in the Netherlands?"

Van den Bosch is mayor of Zaltbommel. Some 1,000 Moroccans live in this municipality, of which 50 are regular offenders. "Twenty form the hard core and there are 30 copying them. There are no problems with the other thousand Moroccans."

But the mayor can do nothing against the trouble-makers, he says. "Intimidation, violence, serious trouble-making; much more is going on than just calling women 'whore'. We also have some lover-boys (pimps press-ganging girls into prostitution), nearly all of Moroccan origin. I hear rumours that these are also already surfacing in the primary schools."

Pormestareilta ei odoteta poliittisia lausuntoja, mutta Zaltbommelin pormestari Albert van den Bosch broke on nyt rikkonut tätä tapaa vastaan.

Pormestari kuvaa marokkolais rikollisia "sisäiseksi viholliseksi" ja vaatii hallituksen ja lainsäädännön puuttumaan kuntaansa riivaavaan markkolais nuorisoon.
"Olen kyllästynyt siihen miten Irakista ja Afgansitanista jauhetaan kuukausitolkulla, mutta kotimaassa ei puututa paljon suurempiin ongelmiin.

Zaltbommelissa asuu noin 1000 marokkolaista joista 50 tekee jatkuvasti rikoksia.

Zaltbommel on paikka jossa pormestari on poliisin suojelussa, kaupat eivät uskalla pitää oviaan myöhään auki, ihmiseten ikkunoista sataa kiviä sisään, uhkailua jne.

Zaltbommelin pormestari on joutunut myrskyn silmään. Eräässä kaupungin ryöstötilanteessa kauppias oli häätänyt ryöstäjät karateiskuillapotkuilla. Pormestari oli puolestaan ilmoittanut, että on ihan oikein piestä varkaita. Lisäksi pormestarilla on itselläänkin jääkiekkomaila siltä varalta, että joku murtautuu hänen kotiinsa.

Onneksi pormestari lievensi puheitaan myöhemmin...

Zaltbommel mayor says its okay to 'beat robbers rotten'

Zaltbommel mayor Albert van den Bosch is at the centre of a media storm after telling the Brabants Dagblad he agreed with 'beating robbers rotten'.

Van den Bosch was responding to the news that a local hardware shop owner had seen off three robbers with a karate kick.

'It's great that people do that. And it appears to work,' Van den Bosch was quoted as saying. 'We keep on taking it. But that does not help us. Beat them rotten. I think people have the right to hit those [who attack them] and to kick.'

Van den Bosch told the Brabant paper he has a hockey stick handy in case his home is attacked.
