ECRI:n (European Commission against Racism and Intolerance) uusimman Ranska raportin mukaan: Yksi Ranskan huolestuttavimmista ilmiöistä on kasvava Internetrasismi. Viimeisen vuoden aikana huomattavaa rasismin kasvua on havaittu mm. web-sivuilla, keskustelufoorumeilla ja sähköpostiketjukirjeissä jotka herjaavat muslimeja ja "kiertolaisia".

RACISM SPREAD ONLINE INCREASES IN FRANCE
(ANSAmed) - STRASBOURG, JUNE 15 - Racism spread via the internet is one of the most worrying phenomena in France. In recent years, a significant increase has been found in the number of websites and discussion forums with racist content, racist propaganda sites, chain emails that denigrate Muslims and nomadic communities. This is what has been underlined in the fourth report on France by European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), which examines how the 47 member states of the organisation fight against discrimination and racism. In the document, which was published today, it is underlined how, in spite of laws and the setting up of special organisations to deal with these phenomena in recent years, there are persisting issues that are causing concern. In addition to the spread of racist discourse on the internet, the report refers in particular to the fact that many victims of racist or discriminatory acts do not make police reports because they do not trust the security forces. The report further underlines how several measures taken by the authorities with the intention of promoting integration and several debates, in particular on immigration, but also on the wearing of the veil, can have a negative effect on the perception that citizens have of some groups, but also increase the lack of trust, as well as the resentment, of several communities towards the rest of society.
