Valitettavasti.

Tästä herää kysymys mikä pakko muiden länsimaiden on tuijottaa USA:an ja tehdä just samat jutut.

QuoteThe Child Soldiers of Portland
Public schools are training children to become race-conscious revolutionaries.
Christopher F. Rufo

There are only a few places on earth where radicals and their children ritualistically burn the American flag and chant "Death to America": Tehran, Baghdad, Beirut, Kabul, Ramallah—and Portland, Oregon. (tuskin tuo Portland tosin enää ainoa paikka ole USAssa)

(...) Last summer, protesters associated with Antifa upped the ante with chants of "Death to America" and participated in months of violent protests to avenge the death of George Floyd while he was in police custody in Minneapolis. Children as young as four marched with the crowd to the federal courthouse, raising the Black Power fist and chanting "Fuck the Police!"

Famously the "whitest city in America," Portland has become the unlikely headquarters of race radicalism in the United States. The city has elevated white guilt into a civic religion; its citizens have developed rituals, devotions, and self-criticisms to fight "systemic racism" and "white supremacy." The culminating expression of this orthodoxy is violence: street militias, calling themselves "antiracists" and "antifascists," smash windows and torch the property of anyone transgressing the new moral law.

We might be tempted to dismiss this as the work of a few harmless radicals "keeping Portland weird," but in recent years, their underlying ideology on race has become institutionalized. The city government has adopted a series of Five-Year Plans for "equity and inclusion," shopkeepers have posted political slogans in their windows as a form of protection, and local schools have designed a program of political education for their students that borders on propaganda.

I have spent months investigating the structure of political education in three Portland-area school districts: Tigard-Tualatin School District, Beaverton School District, and Portland Public Schools. I have cultivated sources within each district and obtained troves of internal documents related to the curriculum, training, and internal dynamics of these institutions. We can best understand the political education program in Portland schools by dividing it into three parts: theory, praxis (or practice), and power. The schools have self-consciously adopted the "pedagogy of the oppressed" (Paolo Freiden sontateoksen vaikuttavuudesta juttua aiemmassa vastauksessa: https://hommaforum.org/index.php/topic,131511.msg3296486.html#msg3296486, tuo on myös kaikkien Suomen yliopistojen psykopaattisten vihavasurien lemppari, tietenkin piip piip piip Foucaltin ohella) as their theoretical orientation, activated it through a curriculum of critical race theory, and enforced it through the appointment of de facto political officers within individual schools, generally under the cover of "equity and social-justice" programming. In short, they have begun to replace education with activism.

The results are predictable. By perpetuating the narrative that America is fundamentally evil, steeping children in race theory, and lionizing the Portland rioters, they have consciously pushed students in the direction of race-based "revolution." In the language of the Left, the political education programs in Portland-area districts constitute a "school-to-radicalism pipeline": a training ground for child soldiers. This is not hyperbole: some of the most active and violent anarchist groups in Portland are run by teenagers, and dozens of minors were arrested during last year's riots. These groups have taken up the mantle of climate change, anticapitalism, antifascism, and Black Lives Matter—whatever provides a pretext for violent "direct action."

(...) Demographically, Tigard is not diverse; it numbers only 636 blacks out of a total population of 52,368, making up approximately 1 percent of residents.

Nonetheless, educators at the Tigard-Tualatin School District have gone all-in on the social-justice trinity of "diversity, equity, and inclusion." Last June, at the height of the nationwide unrest, Superintendent Sue Rieke-Smith and Board Chair Maureen Wolf signed a proclamation "condemning racism and committing to being an anti-racist school district." The preamble to the document recited the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery (Daniel Shaver???! Tony Timpa???! Jeremy Mardis???! (https://hommaforum.org/index.php/topic,130391.msg3207964.html#msg3207964)), and confessed that the district's "students of color, and Black students in particular, still regularly experience racism in [their] schools." To rectify this, the superintendent pledged to become "actively anti-racist," "dismantle systemic racism," implement a "collective equity framework," establish "pillars for equity," deploy "Equity Teams" within schools, create racially segregated "Student Affinity Groups," and use "an equity lens for all future curriculum adoptions."

The next month, the district announced a new Department of Equity and Inclusion and installed social-justice activist Zinnia Un as director. Un quickly created a blueprint, which I have obtained through a whistle-blower, for overhauling the pedagogy and curriculum at Tigard-Tualatin schools. The document calls for adopting the educational theories of Brazilian Marxist Paulo Freire, whose "pedagogy of the oppressed" (summarized in a 1968 book with that title) was originally designed to instill "critical consciousness" among impoverished South Americans and to forge the conditions for overthrowing the dictatorial governments of the era. (See "Pedagogy of the Oppressor," Spring 2009.) Following Freire's categorizations, Un writes that the Tigard-Tualatin school district must move from a state of "reading the world" to the phase of "denunciation" against the revolution's enemies and, finally, to the state of "annunciation" of the liberated masses, who will begin "rewriting the world."

"At the final stage, trainers plumb their subjects' psyches to ensure that 'whiteness' has been banished."

In her blueprint, Un describes the new oppressor as an amalgamation of "whiteness," "colorblindness," "individualism," and "meritocracy." These are the values of capitalist society—but for Un, they are the values of white society, the primary impediment to social justice.

What is the solution to pathological whiteness? According to Un and the Tigard-Tualatin School District, the answer lies with a new form of "white identity development." In a series of "antiracist resources" provided to teachers, the Department of Equity and Inclusion includes a handful of strategies for this identity transformation, intended to "facilitate growth for white folks to become allies, and eventually accomplices, for anti-racist work." Couched in the language of professional development, the process assumes that whites are born "racist," even if they "don't purposely or consciously act in a racist way." The first step in the training document is "contact," defined as confronting whites with "active racism or real-world experiences that highlight their whiteness." The goal is to provoke an emotional rupture that brings the subject to the next step, "disintegration," in which he or she feels intense "white guilt" and "white shame," and admits: "I feel bad for being white." The training then outlines a process of moving white subjects from a state of "reintegration" to "pseudo-independence" to "immersion" to "autonomy."

In the early stages, activities include "attending a training, joining an allies group, participating in a protest." Later, white subjects are told to analyze their "covert white supremacy," host "difficult conversations with white friends and family about racism," and use their "privilege to support anti-racist work." At the final stage, trainers plumb their subjects' individual psyches to ensure that their "whiteness" has been banished. Subjects must answer a series of questions to demonstrate their commitment: "Does your solidarity make you lose sleep at night? Does your solidarity put you in danger? Does your solidarity cost you relationships? Does your solidarity make you suspicious of predominantly white institutions? Does your solidarity have room for Black rage?"

This is a pedagogy not of education but of revolution. It's also textbook cult indoctrination: convince initiates of their fundamental guilt; present a remedy through participation in the group; manipulate emotions to achieve compliance; identify and organize against an amorphous scapegoat; demand total loyalty to the new orthodoxy; proselytize through personal circles; isolate from old friends and family; and keep the ultimate solution always out of reach. A veteran teacher who requested anonymity, out of fear of reprisals, told me that the "big change" happened when the new superintendent and equity and inclusion director took over the district. Immediately, the focus shifted from academics to politics, and employees were expected to fall in line with the new ideology. The teacher described one professional-development training that left some of her colleagues in a neighboring school devastated: "They had teachers actually crying because of their 'whiteness.' "

Which brings us to the last plank in Tigard-Tualatin's antiracism program: enforcement. As soon as Un took over as equity and inclusion director, she formulated a new "hate speech" policy designed not just to prevent truly discriminatory speech but also to pathologize any political opposition to the new order. The cultural cues in the district are clear: teachers must support Black Lives Matter protests and oppose anything that smacks of conservatism.

"I almost feel like we're walking around on eggshells. You have to be careful what you say," a veteran teacher told me. "I'm afraid of speaking up for fear I might lose my job. . . . I mean, what would happen if I said I'm a conservative Republican Christian? How would that go?" When I asked how the new political education program had affected her personally, her voice broke: "I don't want go back to work. I don't believe in this. It goes against my faith system. . . . We're all created as equals in God's sight, and this is just wrong, the way we're teaching our children. I don't have to be embarrassed because of my skin color."

(...)

The internal documents for the Oregon Department of Education make it quite clear that the point of ethnic studies is not academic achievement; it's "social change." Education is the means; politics is the end.

(...)

Meantime, Portland Public Schools has institutionalized the philosophy of social justice and codified political activism into every aspect of the bureaucracy. In the district's 2019 Racial Equity and Social Justice Plan, the administration pledged to make "antiracism" the district's "North Star" and to create "an education system that intentionally disrupts—and builds leaders to disrupt—systems of oppression." The superintendent hired a new equity czar and announced a "Five-Year Racial Equity Plan," which promises a dizzying array of acronyms and academic catchphrases like "intersectionality" and "targeted universalism."

"Portland Public Schools has codified political activism into every aspect of the bureaucracy."

(...)

In one recent antiracism session, this teacher had to participate in a "line of oppression" exercise. The trainers lined up the teachers and shouted out various injustices (racism, homophobia, and so on), and asked teachers who would suffer from these harms to step forward. The trainers then divided the room into oppressed and oppressors, with straight white men and women forced to reckon with their identity in the oppressor category. The objective, according to the teacher, was to intimidate white teachers into submission through collective guilt and fear of being labeled a racist.

The ideology of "antiracism" has permeated every department in the district. Even educators in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program have begun teaching the principles of critical race theory to immigrants and refugees. According to a document that I obtained, ESL teachers are told to develop "counterstories" to the dominant American culture and to focus instruction on "advocacy for racial equity for emergent bilingual/multilingual students." As part of the curriculum, they are asked to teach immigrants that "racism in the USA is pervasive and operates like the air we breathe" and that "civil rights gains for people of color should be interpreted with measured enthusiasm." (...)

How does all this translate in the classroom? At Forest Park, Whitman, and Marysville elementary schools, a teacher named Sarita Flores, who runs the information technology program, has transformed her role into that of a political inquisitor. According to leaked internal documents and whistle-blower testimony, Flores holds weekly "antiracism" sessions in which white teachers are expected to remain silent, "honor the feelings of BIPOC"—black, indigenous, and people of color—and "make space for and amplify BIPOC educators." In presentations resembling Soviet-era struggle sessions, Flores instructs teachers that they must "deepen [their] political analysis of racism and oppression" and "start healing with public apologies about [their] racism and then go back and apologize through an audit through an anti-racist lens." During one of these sessions, Flores hosted an exercise resembling Orwell's Two Minutes Hate, in which minority teachers were allowed 90 seconds to berate their white colleagues. (...)

For Flores and other teachers in the social-justice wing of Portland Public Schools, the only solution is revolution. During one presentation to teachers, Flores claimed that "an educator in a system of oppression is either a revolutionary or an oppressor." In a folder hosted on the district website, Flores shared a meme with teachers that justified the ongoing political violence in Portland: "The root cause of every riot is some kind of oppression. If you want to end the riots, you have to end the oppression. If you want to end a riot without ending its root cause, your agenda isn't about peace and justice—it's about silencing and control."

(...)

By high school, the basic education about "skin color" and "justice fighters" turns into advanced race theory and live-action street protesting. At Lincoln High, a wealthy public school with only 1 percent black student enrollment, some students take two full years of "critical race studies." The courses, taught by Jessica Mallare-Best, begin with training on racial identity, white supremacy, institutional racism, and racial empowerment, with the goal of providing "methods in which students can begin to be activists and allies for change." The following year, students take two semesters of critical race theory—studying white fragility, intersectionality, "whiteness as property," "the permanence of racism," "collective organizing," and "being an activist," with an eye toward training them to "do [their] part in dismantling white supremacy." The abstract becomes concrete, theory is transformed into action, and the young people of Portland come of age steeped in race analysis and revolutionary logic.

The next step is obvious. Children, endowed with conviction in their own moral purity, head to the front lines. In 2018, Ockley Green Middle School invited "police abolitionist" Teressa Raiford to hold an assembly on social justice, after which she led hundreds of students into the streets to perform a "die-in" in the middle of an intersection—without seeking permission from or notifying their parents. During the Floyd protests, the teacher- and student-led protests accelerated. Children as young as five held a mock protest at Sabin Elementary School and raised the Black Power fist alongside their teachers. Middle school students in northeast Portland led a public march advocating for defunding the police. High school students marched through a neighborhood in southwest Portland—"the whitest part of the city"—demanding that residents provide "reparations" to blacks.

(...)

Violence has followed. The Youth Liberation Front, one of the most active and violent protest groups in Portland, was founded by teenagers and has recruited hundreds of young people to fight against the American regime. The group is organized into autonomous cells to avoid law-enforcement infiltration and has armed itself with shields, weapons, gas masks, and explosives. The group organized a walkout of Portland high schools and then rioted for more than 100 consecutive nights following George Floyd's death. "We are a bunch of teenagers armed with ADHD and yerba mate," the group declared on social media. "We can take a 5 a.m. raid and be back on our feet a few hours later. We'll be back again and again until every prison is reduced to ashes and every wall to rubble." (...)

Their teachers, too, have immersed themselves in the destruction. (...)

"We have reached the strange reality in which the state, through education, agitates for its own destruction."

(...)

Educators and parents in Portland are playing with fire. They have filled the heads of the young with dark visions of America (ja ilmastokatasrofista ja ties mistä) and then told them to find fulfillment through revolution. But that revolution is devoid of positive values; it is a war of negation, destruction, and death. The child soldiers have been promised "a new world from the ashes," but the real outcome, if they get their way, would be a world of ruin—cold, empty, and salted over. It's hard not to see this as a cynical game: teachers and administrators, ensconced in the public bureaucracy and secured by the public trust, engage in an absurd theater of cultural Marxism, spinning stories about the "pedagogy of the oppressed" to their privileged, suburban, predominantly white students. For all the talk about "liberation" and "critical consciousness," they are indoctrinating these children in a profoundly pessimistic worldview, in which racism and oppression pervade every institution, with no way out but revolution.

Hieman teoreettisempaa kulmaa, sattuis silmään etsiessäni jotain muuta:

Critical Theory, Conspiracy, and "Gullible Critique"

Abstract
There are important similarities between conspiracy theories and academic discourses referred to variously as 'critique', 'critical theory', 'genealogy', and 'the hermeneutics of suspicion'. Like conspiracy theories, critical academic discourses have their passionate advocates. But these discourses also carry an air of disrepute in broader academic circles. In a trenchant 2004 essay Bruno Latour expressed a set of worries about the intellectual respectability of "critique" centered on the resemblance between critique and conspiracy theories. I develop this line of thinking by calling attention to formal features that examples of "critique" can share with conspiracy theories, positioning both types of discourse within the broader category of "suspicious explanation". I conclude by offering an account of what might be meant by Latour's reference to "gullible critique".

QuoteAs these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes. As such, NSBA requests a joint expedited review by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Homeland Security, along with the appropriate training, coordination, investigations, and enforcement mechanisms from the FBI, including any technical assistance necessary from, and state and local coordination with, its National Security Branch and Counterterrorism Division, as well as any other federal agency with relevant jurisdictional authority and oversight. Additionally, NSBA requests that such review examine appropriate enforceable actions against these crimes and acts of violence under the Gun-Free School Zones Act, the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, the Violent Interference with Federally Protected Rights statute, the Conspiracy Against Rights statute, an Executive Order to enforce all applicable federal laws for the protection of students and public school district personnel, and any related measure. As the threats grow and news of extremist hate organizations showing up at school board meetings is being reported, this is a critical time for a proactive approach to deal with this difficult issue.

PITT = Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans

QuoteDear Doctor,
Letter written to Dr. XXXXX...no response received

I am the mother of a child who suddenly claimed a transgender identity and became swiftly medicalized — meaning prescribed wrong sex hormones and surgeries to treat gender dysphoria, without any in-depth exploration. I came across your name while researching gender ideology and your background in bioethics seems well-suited to my story and the information that I am here sharing.

I am not seeking your help; sadly I have come to realize there is little to no help available for parents like myself. I am a mere representative of the many thousands of parents who have had their child medicalized in as little as one visit to a gender affirming medical establishment. I have previously spoken with many professionals highly critical of the latest fad in psychiatry of accepting patients' self-diagnosis of 'gender dysphoria' and then being ushered into transition. Parents have connected via social media platforms and organizations across the US and internationally and we hail from all political and religious affiliations. I am sharing the truth of gender identity medicine today as our family and countless others have experienced it.

Since Lisa Littman's work in 2018 first exposed the possibility that social contagion could be at play in the sky-rocketing numbers of transgender identified youth, this topic has been continuously lauded and glorified by the media. Considering there are close to 40k young women wanting 'top surgery' (a euphemism for non-medically necessary breast amputation) today on GoFundMe, it seems that Littman was on to something. Certainly, this is not normal.

The industry today is light years away from the time when anabolic steroids first came on to the market and doctors and patients began to dabble in altering the human body to take on the appearance of the opposite sex. Now, the fact that Paul McHugh shuttered the gender identity clinic at Johns Hopkins in the 1970's because transition did not benefit the patient population has been lost to history.

Fast forward to 2021 and the industry that used to be in back alleyways is exploding like never before. The affirmation model is now the norm and most medical institutions have established guidelines to push patients into the pipeline of gender medicine, while laws are being passed to deter any counseling for gender confused patients. The fact that there is so little help for families like ours does not prove that the affirmation model is sound healthcare. All the parents I have connected to know that it is not. Our children are in harm's way and we are desperately trying to organize to save them from unnecessary mental and physical harm.

I have been experiencing this contagion first hand. My college-aged daughter was prescribed testosterone and, a mere few months later, she had her breasts amputated. There is nothing that could have prepared our family for this tragedy that is still unfolding. To know our daughter would be to think up is down, black is white or that Mickey Mouse is real. She was gender conforming, had mostly female friends her entire life, meets none of the criteria for gender dysphoria as laid out in the DSM-5, and had little interest in stereotypical masculine activities at all. Our daughter was extremely gifted, highly creative, an AP student throughout high school, and involved in countless activities.

Now, she has been indoctrinated to join the cult of gender ideology. She has severed ties with all family members, save for some tenuous contact with a sibling. Can this possibly be medical care? She was encouraged by her like-minded peers, harbored by her university and swiftly led down the rabbit hole of transgender medicine to either be a patient for life or to one day wake up and decide to reconvene in a body that has been harmed for life. And, if she chooses this latter path, no medical assistance will be forthcoming. Gender transition assistance these days is a one-way path.

There are thousands of parents living this nightmare and I've met many of them. Our stories are eerily similar and yet we read lie after lie in the mainstream media that we are bigots, transphobes, 'terfs' and other names, many too despicable to mention. We read that we have disowned our children, when the opposite is often true. We are lied to by educators and the medical community who are hellbent on creating transgender youth. We read the lies that only adults get surgeries or that our children have gone through rigorous psychological counseling. Neither of these is true. Some parents have even lost their children in the court of law when they question this supposed 'care.'

The political and pharmaceutical ties to this narrative are blatant. Our children are seen as specimens for a social experiment. The suicide card that is played has been debunked as many times as it is played and yet the card continues to be played on repeat. We know that the only long-term study ever completed actually shows a 19 times greater risk of suicide AFTER transition. I believe this is likely an underestimation, as the cohort in this study was far different from today's trans-identified patients, who are younger and largely female. It would not be a stretch to say the harms could be far greater.

As parents, we have lobbied Congress, pushed for bills in various states to hold doctors accountable and to quell this gross social contagion. We have pushed for advocacy in schools, churches and the like against the radical indoctrination into gender ideology. We keep our fingers on the pulse of this exploding medical scandal as more and more desisters and detransitioners come forth with their stories, as more and more countries begin to question their practices and pull back the veil on transgender medicine. Here in North America, we are living in the gender medicine capital of the world, with more clinics than any other country. This article speaks accurately of the totalitarian regime I have witnessed under the guise of 'healthcare.'

Imagine how this would turn your personal life upside down if the child you raised suddenly claimed an opposite sex identity? Imagine knowing the actual risk of suicide and having a child who has shut you out of their life? I live in fear for my daughter and other young people across this country where mutilating body parts is increasingly becoming second nature. There are even surgeries and hormones for "non-binary" identifying people now. None of this makes any sense. I fear for families that are as of yet unaware of the dangers that loom. I can say firsthand that this social contagion does not discriminate and, by all appearances, our government is dead set on creating more and more casualties.

While fully realizing the contentious nature of this issue and the work you do, I would be grateful for the opportunity to share my personal story. I have repeatedly witnessed the reactions from parent's firsthand accounts as most people do not realize what is really happening.

Quote1/ Dorian Abbot is a geophysicist at the University of Chicago. He was to give MIT's prestigious Carlson Lecture on Oct. 21. The topic was to be climates of extrasolar planets. Shamefully, MIT canceled the lecture under pressure from activists who objected to his political views.

2/ Those who pressured MIT to cancel Dr. Abbot's lecture oppose his views on "diversity, equity, and inclusion": https://newsweek.com/diversity-problem-campus-opinion-1618419. As you can see, these have nothing to do with the topic of his Carlson Lecture. The activists cancel anyone who dissents from their dogmas.

3/ It is impossible to exaggerate how disgraceful MIT's capitulation to a mob's demands to cancel Dr. Dorian Abbot's lecture is. That he was qualified on the basis of his achievements as as a geophysical scientist to give the Carlson Lecture was never questioned--nor could it be.

4/ MIT's caving in to a cancel mob's demand to disinvite a distinguished scientist who had been invited on the basis of his achievements to give an honorific lecture shows just how badly science today has been politicized. The integrity of science can't survive politicization.

5/ Every honorable scientist should be raising his or her voice in condemnation of the cravenness of those at MIT who are responsible for canceling Dorian Abbot's Carlson Lecture. In condemning the politicization of science, there should be unanimity--at least among scientists.

6/ It's not just the scientists who need to speak up against this outrage against academic freedom and integrity. It is all of us in academia--scholars in every field, and scholars from across the ideological spectrum. Please, don't be silent. Speak! Let your voice be heard.

7/ MIT alumni, please make your voices heard on the Institute's shameful capitulation to political pressure to cancel the 2021 Carlson Lecture by University of Chicago geophysicist Dorian Abbot. MIT's honor is at stake. So is the integrity of science at MIT and beyond.

8/ Everyone, please spread the word about this outrage.  Help make the authorities at MIT see how disgraceful--and indefensible--the canceling of Dr. Dorian Abbot's Carlson Lecture is. Let's strike a blow for academic freedom and the integrity of science.

9/ It's time to stand up to these mobs and hold accountable institutions that capitulate to them. Let's finally say enough is enough. "You yield to a mob; you'll have to deal with us." @bariweiss @JonHaidt @glukianoff @AmnaUncensored @sapinker @peterboghossian @jflier @GlennLoury

QuoteThe Diversity Problem on Campus | Opinion

American universities are undergoing a profound transformation that threatens to derail their primary mission: the production and dissemination of knowledge. The new regime is titled "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" or DEI, and is enforced by a large bureaucracy of administrators. Nearly every decision taken on campus, from admissions, to faculty hiring, to course content, to teaching methods, is made through the lens of DEI. This regime was imposed from the top and has never been adequately debated. In the current climate it cannot be openly debated: the emotions around DEI are so strong that self-censorship among dissenting faculty is nearly universal.

The words "diversity, equity and inclusion" sound just, and are often supported by well-intentioned people, but their effects are the opposite of noble sentiments. Most importantly, "equity" does not mean fair and equal treatment. DEI seeks to increase the representation of some groups through discrimination against members of other groups. The underlying premise of DEI is that any statistical difference between group representation on campus and national averages reflects systemic injustice and discrimination by the university itself. The magnitude of the distortions is significant: for some job searches discrimination rises to the level of implicitly or explicitly excluding applicants from certain groups.

DEI violates the ethical and legal principle of equal treatment. It entails treating people as members of a group rather than as individuals, repeating the mistake that made possible the atrocities of the 20th century. It requires being willing to tell an applicant "I will ignore your merits and qualifications and deny you admission because you belong to the wrong group, and I have defined a more important social objective that justifies doing so." It treats persons as merely means to an end, giving primacy to a statistic over the individuality of a human being.

QuoteBREAKING: Attorney General Merrick Garland has instructed the FBI to mobilize against parents who oppose critical race theory in public schools, citing "threats."

The letter follows the National School Board Association's request to classify protests as "domestic terrorism."

The Biden administration is rapidly repurposing federal law enforcement to target political opposition.

They want to reclassify dissent as "disinformation" and "domestic terrorism," justifying an unprecedented intervention, both directly and in partnership with tech companies.

Neither the Attorney General's memo nor the full Justice Department press release cites any significant, credible threat.

This is a blatant suppression tactic, designed to dissuade citizens from participating in the democratic process at school boards.

We must forcefully push back against the suppression of our basic rights and the criminalization of our politics.

The Biden administration wants to apply the J6 strategy to every expression of conservative speech and assembly.

We must not let them.

9/15 Prince William County School Board Meeting was delayed & crowd got angry after PWC Dem Chair Tonya James ranted "Go to Hell" & "F**K YOU" at others.

2/All media edited PWC Dem Chair Tonya James from their reporting/video.

As meeting was delayed, a veteran in crowd stood & asked if vets were present. Several raised hands. He thanked them for their service & mentioned all were upset over Afghanistan.

3/Singing of National Anthem followed. In final seconds of video, James (red pants, background) starts to rant, lunging at man behind her.

4/After ranting, she continues yelling at others "you didn't really serve in Iraq. I was shot at.....F**K  YOU and F**K YOU." Leaning into man behind her with "Go to Hell!" she then yells at crowd about not really serving then pointing "F**K You and F**K You!"

5/Rant was unprovoked. Crowd was shocked, angry. One man called for security, which immediately clears the building. DC ABC News reporter Carl Lewis is seen in 2nd video capturing scene on his phone. On air he omits James' rant, blames parents. All print media does the same.

6/ABC NEWS version and 3rd video implying parents were out of control. This is a total distortion of what happened with the media doing a willful coverup of James' provocation, used to scapegoat parents.

7/ABC News reporter in 2nd video capturing rant. He knew the truth and misled viewers. These are the games these people are playing to craft a bogus narrative against the American people and parents who care about their kids and education.

8/With the ideas laundered by ABC, local news continues misreporting facts, covering up for Democrat Chair. "Unruly crowd" is blamed for her unnecessary and rude provocation.

end/This is the name of the game. Democratic leaders acting badly in public and provoking an incident while the media covers for them and spins the story to blame "unruly" parents and everyday people trying to get involved in the civic process of their communities. Crooked!

On tämä kyllä järjetöntä, millä voimalla tuota woke-paskaa ajetaan nykyään.

https://bariweiss.substack.com/p/top-trans-doctors-blow-the-whistle

En ala enempää lainailemaan tuota Bari Weissin juttua (menee paikoitellen jo aika "biologiseksi"), koska itse pidän jutussa ääneen pääseviä tyyppejä edelleen "puolikulttilaisina". Lähinnä juttua on siitä, miten nykyään asetetaan lapsen (aivopesty) mielipide kaiken muun yläpuolelle, miten hormonihoitojen haittoja vähätellään ja miten ne leikkaukset eivät todellisuudessa ole ihan legopalikoilla rakentamista. Mutta taustatietona kuitenkin:

QuoteBut that new orthodoxy has gone too far, according to two of the most prominent providers in the field of transgender medicine: Dr. Marci Bowers, a world-renowned vaginoplasty specialist who operated on reality-television star Jazz Jennings; and Erica Anderson, a clinical psychologist at the University of California San Francisco's Child and Adolescent Gender Clinic.

QuoteIn the course of their careers, both have seen thousands of patients. Both are board members of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the organization that sets the standards worldwide for transgender medical care. And both are transgender women.

QuoteOver the past few weeks, I have spoken at length to both women about the current direction of their field and where they feel it has gone wrong. On some issues, including their stance on puberty blockers, they raised concerns that appear to question the current health guidelines set by WPATH — which Bowers is slated to lead starting in 2022.

QuoteEarlier this month, Anderson told me she submitted a co-authored op-ed to The New York Times warning that many transgender healthcare providers were treating kids recklessly. The Times passed, explaining it was "outside our coverage priorities right now."

https://bariweiss.substack.com/p/mit-abandons-its-mission-and-me

QuoteMIT Abandons Its Mission. And Me.
Let's make sure my cancellation is the last. That begins by standing up and saying no to the mob.

I am a professor who just had a prestigious public science lecture at MIT cancelled because of an outrage mob on Twitter. My crime? Arguing for academic evaluations based on academic merit. This is the story of how a cancellation is carried out, why it should worry all of us, and what we can do to stop this dangerous trend.

I have been a professor in the Department of the Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago for the past 10 years. I work on topics ranging from climate change to the possibility of life on extrasolar planets using mathematics, physics, and computer simulation.

I have never considered myself a political person. For example, a few days before an election I go to ISideWith.com and answer the policy questions, then I assign my vote using a weighted draw based on my overlap with the candidates. It's an efficient algorithm that works perfectly for a nerd like me.

But I started to get alarmed about five years ago as I noticed an increasing number of issues and viewpoints become impossible to discuss on campus. I mostly just wanted to do my science and not have anyone yell at me, and I thought that if I kept my mouth shut the problem would eventually go away. I knew that speaking out would likely bring serious reputational and professional consequences. And for a number of years I just didn't think it was worth it.

But the street violence of the summer of 2020, some of which I witnessed personally in Chicago, and the justifications and dishonesty that accompanied it, convinced me that I could no longer remain silent in good conscience.

In the fall of 2020 I started advocating openly for academic freedom and merit-based evaluations. I recorded some short YouTube videos in which I argued for the importance of treating each person as an individual worthy of dignity and respect. In an academic context, that means giving everyone a fair and equal opportunity when they apply for a position as well as allowing them to express their opinions openly, even if you disagree with them.

As a result, I was immediately targeted for cancellation, primarily by a group of graduate students in my department. Whistleblowers later revealed that the attack was partially planned and coordinated on the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program listserv by a graduate student in my department. (Please do not attack this person or any of the people who attacked me.)

(...)

It's worth stating what happened again: a small group of ideologues mounted a Twitter campaign to cancel a distinguished science lecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology because they disagreed with some of the political positions the speaker had taken. And they were successful within eight days.

(...)

It has become fashionable in some circles to claim that "cancel culture is just holding people accountable." I challenge you to read the material that led to the attacks against me and find anything that would require me being held "accountable." (...)

I view this episode as an example as well as a striking illustration of the threat woke ideology poses to our culture, our institutions and to our freedoms. I have consistently maintained that woke ideology is essentially totalitarian in nature: it attempts to corral the entirety of human existence into one narrow ideological viewpoint and to silence anyone who disagrees. (...)

This issue is especially important to me because my wife and I are expecting our first child in January. We all need to decide what type of country we want our children to grow up in. Do we want a culture of fear and repression in which a small number of ideologues exert their power and cultural dominance to silence anyone who disagrees with them? Or do we want our children to enjoy truth-seeking discourse consisting of good-natured exchanges that are ultimately grounded in a spirit of epistemic humility?

(...)

Tätä en päässyt maksumuurin vuoksi lukemaan, mutta kannatan kyllä (pienillä varauksilla).

Critical Social Justice. Kolmen sanan megavalhe. Kriittisyys, mitä kohtaan? Yhteiskunnallinen ei merkitse mitään. Oikeudenmulaisuudesta aate on yhtä kaukana kuin hirttäminen lyhtypylvääseen verrattuna edes jonkinlaiseen oikeudenkäyntiin.
Voisiko täällä joku ystävällisesti selittää tyhmälle, mitä tämä Marxilta peräisin oleva paskateoria tarkoittaa.
Samaa skeidaa taitaa olla tämä cancelointi. Kenet tykistön patteriupseerina maalittaisin?

Social taitaa ollaa paremminkin yhteisöllinen kuin yhteiskunnallinen (societal).. Eikö tuo Justice meinaa juuri sitä SoMe lyhtypylvääseen hirttämistä? Tuota kriittisyysaspektia en kyllä myöskään tajua - ehkä kyse on (Lockelaisen) libertalismin vastaisuudesta? Cancelointi on taasen uusi versio Stasi hommista.

Lopulta kyse on vain kommunismin uudesta ilmentymästä, joita tulee tasaisin väliajoin. Minun on vaikea ymmärtää, mistä moisten kannattajat oikein unelmoivat.

Näin kävi chicagolaisen taidemuseon (Art Institute of Chicago = AIC)  122:lle "dosentille" eli asiantuntijaoppaalle.

https://whyevolutionistrue.com/2021/10/09/the-art-institute-of-chicago-fires-all-122-of-its-unpaid-and-volunteer-docents-because-they-arent-sufficiently-diverse/

Palkattomuudesta huolimatta työ oli vaativaa:

QuoteDespite the lack of remuneration—they do this to be helpful and because they love art—their training to be docents is extremely rigorous. First, they have to have two training sessions per week for eighteen months, and then "five years of continual research and writing to meet the criteria of 13 museum content areas" (quote from the docents' letter to the Director of the AIC). On top of that, there's monthly and biweekly training on new exhibits. Then there are the tours themselves, with a docent giving up to two one-hour tours per day for 18 weeks of the year and a minimum of 24 one-hour tours with adults/families.  Their average length of service: 15 years.

Toinen esimerkki, missä "moninaisuus" asetettiin jatkuvuuden edelle:

Englannissa toimiva kiertävä ooppera English Touring Opera palkkaa vuosittain kiertueelleen soittajia.  Wikipediasta:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Touring_Opera

QuoteEnglish Touring Opera is committed to increasing all kinds of diversity in its team, and while there have been appreciable, steady advances on stage in this area, we have prioritised increased diversity in the orchestra. This is in line with the firm guidance of the Arts Council, principal funder of ETO's touring work, and of most of the trust funds that support ETO.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9982453/English-Touring-Opera-drops-14-white-musicians-woke-drive-increase-diversity.html

Valtiollinen tukija Arts Council kuitenkin kiisti, että se olisi ohjeistanut muuttamaan radikaalisti orkesterin kokoonpanoa:
QuoteThe Arts Council England has hit back at the ETO, which it funds to the tune of £1.78 million a year, saying it never encouraged the company to sack musicians.

'We did not instruct the English Touring Opera to send this letter,' the Council said. 'We are now in conversation with ETO to ensure no funding criteria have been breached'.

[...]

Sukupuolivähemmistöjen oikeuksia ajavan Trasekin hallituksen puheenjohtaja Kasper Kivistö kertoo, että anti-gender-liike vaikuttaa heidän toimintaansa erityisesti väärää tietoa levittämällä esimerkiksi sosiaalisessa mediassa.

– Anti-gender-toimijat perustavat some-tilejä, joissa he esiintyvät sateenkaarijärjestöinä ja jakavat väärää tietoa.

Sellaista on esimerkiksi valheet sukupuolenkorjaukseen liittyvien hoitojen haittapuolista tai yhdistyksen ajamien arvojen vääristely. Yksi esimerkki on sukupuolisensitiivinen kasvatus.

Yksi sellainen toimija on World Congress of Families, eli Aito avioliitto ry:n kattojärjestö.

[...]

Kielipoliisi iski Britanniassa:

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2021/10/10/manmade-forefathers-branded-as-sexist-by-uk-university/

QuoteA British university has told students to refrain from using terms such as "founding fathers", "manmade", "masterful", and other words deemed to be sexist or racist.
The woke language policing has now extended to Aston University in Birmingham in the North of England, with the sociology department issuing a list of proscribed terms and words to undergraduate students.
Some of the now-banned terms include the phrases "Old Masters", "master copy", "one-man show", "forefathers", "seminal", "manmade", and "masterful", according to documents leaked by a student to the Free Speech Union, which seeks to protect speech on British campuses.
Other phrases which drew the ire of the academics, who openly pronounced their support for the far-left Black Lives Matter movement, include "civilisation", "immigrants", "third world", "tribe", "non-white", and "native" for supposedly propagating racism and colonial thinking.
The guide goes on to attack the very concept of Britishness, stating that the "idea of 'British' can imply a false sense of unity".

Sosialisti on mätä ydintä myöten.

No, kielipelien erikoisosaajilla on varmaan joku "sorrettujen vapauttamiseen" liittyvä käsite tälle, mistä Saresma itsekin kirjoittaa:

https://politiikasta.fi/antigender-liike-kristillisyys-ja-oikeistopopulismi-sukupuolen-politiikkaa/

– Anti-gender-toimijat perustavat some-tilejä, joissa he esiintyvät sateenkaarijärjestöinä ja jakavat väärää tietoa.

Sellaista on esimerkiksi valheet sukupuolenkorjaukseen liittyvien hoitojen haittapuolista tai yhdistyksen ajamien arvojen vääristely. Yksi esimerkki on sukupuolisensitiivinen kasvatus.

No ei.

Niinpä toteankin vain: "Iron law of woke projection". Honk honk.

No niinpä pitää, koska siinä vaiheessa woksterit siirtyvät avoimeen väkivaltaan. Koska he ovat historian oikealla puolen...

Bari Weissilta hyvä "yhteenvetävä" kirjoitus CSJ:stä / wokeismista.

https://www.commentary.org/articles/bari-weiss/resist-woke-revolution/

QuoteWe Got Here Because of Cowardice. We Get Out With Courage
Say no to the Woke Revolution
by Bari Weiss

A lot of people want to convince you that you need a Ph.D. or a law degree or dozens of hours of free time to read dense texts about critical theory to understand the woke movement and its worldview. You do not. You simply need to believe your own eyes and ears.

Let me offer the briefest overview of the core beliefs of the Woke Revolution, which are abundantly clear to anyone willing to look past the hashtags and the jargon.

It begins by stipulating that the forces of justice and progress are in a war against backwardness and tyranny. And in a war, the normal rules of the game must be suspended. Indeed, this ideology would argue that those rules are not just obstacles to justice, but tools of oppression. They are the master's tools.  And the master's tools cannot dismantle the master's house.

So the tools themselves are not just replaced but repudiated. And in so doing, persuasion—the purpose of argument—is replaced with public shaming. Moral complexity is replaced with moral certainty. Facts are replaced with feelings.

Ideas are replaced with identity. Forgiveness is replaced with punishment. Debate is replaced with de-platforming. Diversity is replaced with homogeneity of thought. Inclusion, with exclusion.

In this ideology, speech is violence. But violence, when carried out by the right people in pursuit of a just cause, is not violence at all. In this ideology, bullying is wrong, unless you are bullying the right people, in which case it's very, very good. In this ideology, education is not about teaching people how to think, it's about reeducating them in what to think. In this ideology, the need to feel safe trumps the need to speak truthfully.

In this ideology, if you do not tweet the right tweet or share the right slogan, your whole life can be ruined.
Just ask Tiffany Riley, a Vermont school principal who was fired—fired—because she said she supports black lives but not the organization Black Lives Matter.

In this ideology, the past cannot be understood on its own terms, but must be judged through the morals and mores of the present. It is why statues of Grant and Washington are being torn down. And it is why William Peris, a UCLA lecturer and an Air Force veteran, was investigated for reading Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" out loud in class.

In this ideology, intentions don't matter. That is why Emmanuel Cafferty, a Hispanic utility worker at San Diego Gas and Electric, was fired for making what someone said he thought was a white-supremacist hand gesture—when in fact he was cracking his knuckles out of his car window.

In this ideology, the equality of opportunity is replaced with equality of outcome as a measure of fairness. If everyone doesn't finish the race at the same time, the course must have been defective. Thus, the argument to get rid of the SAT. Or the admissions tests for public schools like Stuyvesant in New York or Lowell in San Francisco.

In this ideology, you are guilty for the sins of your fathers. In other words: You are not you. You are only a mere avatar of your race or your religion or your class. That is why third-graders in Cupertino, California, were asked to rate themselves in terms of their power and privilege. In third grade.

In this system, we are all placed neatly on a spectrum of "privileged" to "oppressed." We are ranked somewhere on this spectrum in different categories: race, gender, sexual orientation, and class. Then we are given an overall score, based on the sum of these rankings. Having privilege means that your character and your ideas are tainted. This is why, one high-schooler in New York tells me, students in his school are told, "If you are white and male, you are second in line to speak." This is considered a normal and necessary redistribution of power.

Racism has been redefined. It is no longer about discrimination based on the color of someone's skin. Racism is any system that allows for disparate outcomes between racial groups. If disparity is present, as the high priest of this ideology, Ibram X. Kendi, has explained, racism is present. According to this totalizing new view, we are all either racist or anti-racist. To be a Good Person and not a Bad Person, you must be an "anti-racist." There is no neutrality. There is no such thing as "not racist."

Most important: In this revolution, skeptics of any part of this radical ideology are recast as heretics. Those who do not abide by every single aspect of its creed are tarnished as bigots, subjected to boycotts and their work to political litmus tests. The Enlightenment, as the critic Edward Rothstein has put it, has been replaced by the exorcism.

What we call "cancel culture" is really the justice system of this revolution. And the goal of the cancellations is not merely to punish the person being cancelled. The goal is to send a message to everyone else: Step out of line and you are next.

It has worked. A recent CATO study found that 62 percent of Americans are afraid to voice their true views. Nearly a quarter of American academics endorse ousting a colleague for having a wrong opinion about hot-button issues such as immigration or gender differences. And nearly 70 percent of students favor reporting professors if the professor says something that students find offensive, according to a Challey Institute for Global Innovation survey.

(...)

Just as in China under Chairman Mao, the seeds of our own cultural revolution can be traced to the academy, the first of our institutions to be overtaken by it. And our schools—public, private, parochial—are increasingly the recruiting grounds for this ideological army.

(...)

A recent educational program for sixth to eighth grade teachers called "a pathway to equitable math instruction"—funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation—was recently sent to Oregon teachers by the state's Department of Education. The program's literature informs teachers that white supremacy shows up in math instruction when "rigor is expressed only in difficulty," and "contrived word problems are valued over the math in students' lived experiences."

Serious education is the antidote to such ignorance. Frederick Douglass said, "Education means emancipation. It means light and liberty. It means the uplifting of the soul of man into the glorious light of truth, the light only by which men can be free." Soaring words that feel as if they are a report from a distant galaxy. Education is increasingly where debate, dissent, and discovery go to die.

It's also very bad for kids.  For those deemed "privileged," it creates a hostile environment where kids are too intimidated to participate. For those deemed "oppressed," it inculcates an extraordinarily pessimistic view of the world, where students are trained to perceive malice and bigotry in everything they see. They are denied the dignity of equal standards and expectations. They are denied the belief in their own agency and ability to succeed. As Zaid Jilani had put it: "You cannot have power without responsibility. Denying minorities responsibility for their own actions, both good and bad, will only deny us the power we rightly deserve."

(...)

The revolution has been met with almost no resistance by those who have the title CEO or leader or president or principal in front of their names. The refusal of the adults in the room to speak the truth, their refusal to say no to efforts to undermine the mission of their institutions, their fear of being called a bad name and that fear trumping their responsibility—that is how we got here.

(...)

As Douglas Murray has put it: "The problem is not that the sacrificial victim is selected. The problem is that the people who destroy his reputation are permitted to do so by the complicity, silence and slinking away of everybody else."

(...)

Gordon Klein, a professor at UCLA, recently filed suit against his own university. Why? A student asked him to grade black students with "greater leniency." He refused, given that such a racial preference would violate UCLA's anti-discrimination policies (and maybe even the law). But the people in charge of UCLA's Anderson School launched a racial-discrimination complaint into him. They denounced him, banned him from campus, appointed a monitor to look at his emails, and suspended him. He eventually was reinstated—because he had done absolutely nothing wrong—but not before his reputation and career were severely damaged. "I don't want to see anyone else's life destroyed as they attempted to do to me," Klein told me. "Few have the intestinal fortitude to fight cancel culture. I do. This is about sending a message to every petty tyrant out there."

It requires being willing to tell an applicant "I will ignore your merits and qualifications and deny you admission because you belong to the wrong group, and I have defined a more important social objective that justifies doing so." It treats persons as merely means to an end, giving primacy to a statistic over the individuality of a human being.

QuoteI am resigning as Director of the Berkeley Atmospheric Sciences Center (BASC) @BerkeleyAtmo. To reduce the odds of being mischaracterized, I want to explain my decision here.

Last month, the MIT Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences @eapsMIT canceled a science lecture because of the invited scientist's political views. That scientist does excellent work in areas of interest to BASC (he visited us at our invitation in 2014).

Therefore, I asked the BASC faculty if we might invite that scientist to speak to us in the coming months to hear the science talk he had prepared and, by extending the invitation now, reaffirm that BASC is a purely scientific organization, not a political one.

In the ensuing discussion among the BASC faculty, it became unclear to me whether we could invite that scientist ever again, let alone now.

I was hoping we could agree that BASC does not consider an individual's political or social opinions when selecting speakers for its events, except for cases in which the opinions give a reasonable expectation that members of our community would be treated with disrespect.

Unfortunately, it is unclear when or if we might reach agreement on this point.

The stated mission of BASC is to serve as "the hub for UC Berkeley's research on the science of the atmosphere, its interactions with Earth systems, and the future of Earth's climate."

I believe that mission has its greatest chance of success when the tent is made as big as possible, including with respect to ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, family status, and political ideas.

Excluding people because of their political and social views diminishes the pool of scientists with which members of BASC can interact and reduces the opportunities for learning and collaboration.

More broadly, such exclusion signals that some opinions -- even well-intentioned ones -- are forbidden, thereby increasing self-censorship, degrading public discourse, and contributing to our nation's political balkanization.

I hold BASC and its faculty -- my friends and colleagues -- in the highest regard, and so it has been a great honor to serve as BASC's director these past five years. But it was never my intention to lead an organization that is political or even ambiguously so.

Consequently, I am stepping down from the directorship at the end of this calendar year or when a replacement is ready, whichever is sooner.

Quote"I thought scientists would not get on board with the denial-of-free-speech movement," said Jerry Coyne, an emeritus professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Chicago. "I was absolutely wrong, 100 percent so."

Hulluwoksteri:

QuotePhoebe A. Cohen is a geosciences professor and department chair at Williams College and one of many who expressed anger on Twitter at M.I.T.'s decision to invite Dr. Abbot to speak, given that he has spoken against affirmative action in the past.

Dr. Cohen agreed that Dr. Abbot's views reflect a broad current in American society. Ideally, she said, a university should not invite speakers who do not share its values on diversity and affirmative action. Nor was she enamored of M.I.T.'s offer to let him speak at a later date to the M.I.T. professors. "Honestly, I don't know that I agree with that choice," she said. "To me, the professional consequences are extremely minimal."

What, she was asked, of the effect on academic debate? Should the academy serve as a bastion of unfettered speech?

"This idea of intellectual debate and rigor as the pinnacle of intellectualism comes from a world in which white men dominated," she replied.

Onkohan kaikki ei-valkoiset ja naiset samaa mieltä tuosta viimeisestä lauseesta...  ???

QuoteWhen Did Sexual Assault In Schools Become A Partisan Issue?
If we can't agree that young girls being raped at school is an outrage, what can we agree on?

In 2014, Rolling Stone published a story about a female student named "Jackie" who claimed she was raped at a fraternity party at the University of Virginia.

(...)

The story, we now know, later unraveled, leading to a retraction from Rolling Stone and massive defamation lawsuits. But not before the appalling tale of a helpless young woman being brutally assaulted on an educational campus shook Americans' sensibilities. No one was disagreeing that, if true, the incident deserved horror, outrage, and efforts to try and keep such abuses from happening again.

Just seven years later, a similarly harrowing tale has emerged just 100 or so miles away from U-Va., in Loudoun County, Va. An investigation from The Daily Wire earlier this month reported allegations from Loudoun County father Scott Smith that in May, "a boy allegedly wearing a skirt entered a girls' bathroom at nearby Stone Bridge High School, where he sexually assaulted Smith's ninth-grade daughter."

"A boy was charged with two counts of forcible sodomy, one count of anal sodomy, and one count of forcible fellatio, related to an incident that day at that school," according to Smith's attorney.

But instead of receiving national outrage across the political and media landscape, the alleged incident was reportedly covered up by the Loudoun County School Board for months. In a June meeting, board members insisted they didn't know of any such assaults. After showing up to a school board meeting in protest, Smith was arrested and smeared as a "domestic terrorist."

Days after the Daily Wire investigation broke, another report alleged the school district had been failing to report sexual assault claims for years. Meanwhile, LCPS appears to have quietly transferred the alleged rapist to another school, where he has since been accused of another sexual assault of a female student.

Where is the outrage? A search for "Scott Smith Loudoun" returns zero results on the Washington Post's website, despite Loudoun County's close proximity to the Post's home city. On Tuesday, the Post finally published something on the story, but failed to mention Smith by name and initially failed to admit that the alleged attacker identified as "gender fluid."

A search for "Scott Smith Loudoun" or "Loudoun sexual assault" returned no results from The New York Times on Wednesday. The extent to which CNN covered the story was to say "[Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn] Youngkin on Tuesday promised action following parental outrage over two recent alleged assaults in public schools in the state's Loudoun County," immediately after a paragraph of damage control for Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe's statement that "I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach."

Can you imagine if, instead of discovering holes in the U-Va. story, additional coverage had revealed that the school had been covering up other sexual assault allegations for years?

Or, if the allegations in the Rolling Stone story had been true, can you imagine if U-Va. had quietly moved the rapists to another fraternity and tried to cover the whole thing up? Or tried to smear Jackie and her family as "domestic terrorists"?

In a widening partisan divide, if we can't agree that young girls being raped at school is an outrage, what can we agree on? Does the left hate conservatives with such vitriol that, once voices on the right speak up for a young girl's right to bodily safety, that issue is suddenly anathema, tainted by the fingerprints of concerned parents slandered as domestic terrorists?

Plenty of other common-sense perspectives that any Democrat nominee would have supported up to a couple of years ago have suddenly become "radical" conservative positions too: funding police departments, not segregating kids in school based on race, having international borders, or allowing people to make their own medical decisions without government coercion. Any of these should have been enough to make Americans stop and wonder why the rules of the game are changing so drastically — and who is changing them.

QuoteThe importance of a solid support in the sphere of morals, ethics and values is increasing dramatically in the modern fragile world. In point of fact, values are a product, a unique product of cultural and historical development of any nation. The mutual interlacing of nations definitely enriches them, openness expands their horizons and allows them to take a fresh look at their own traditions. But the process must be organic, and it can never be rapid. Any alien elements will be rejected anyway, possibly bluntly. Any attempts to force one's values on others with an uncertain and unpredictable outcome can only further complicate a dramatic situation and usually produce the opposite reaction and an opposite from the intended result.

We look in amazement at the processes underway in the countries which have been traditionally looked at as the standard-bearers of progress. Of course, the social and cultural shocks that are taking place in the United States and Western Europe are none of our business; we are keeping out of this. Some people in the West believe that an aggressive elimination of entire pages from their own history, "reverse discrimination" against the majority in the interests of a minority, and the demand to give up the traditional notions of mother, father, family and even gender, they believe that all of these are the mileposts on the path towards social renewal.

Listen, I would like to point out once again that they have a right to do this, we are keeping out of this. But we would like to ask them to keep out of our business as well. We have a different viewpoint, at least the overwhelming majority of Russian society – it would be more correct to put it this way – has a different opinion on this matter. We believe that we must rely on our own spiritual values, our historical tradition and the culture of our multiethnic nation.

The advocates of so-called 'social progress' believe they are introducing humanity to some kind of a new and better consciousness. Godspeed, hoist the flags as we say, go right ahead. The only thing that I want to say now is that their prescriptions are not new at all. It may come as a surprise to some people, but Russia has been there already. After the 1917 revolution, the Bolsheviks, relying on the dogmas of Marx and Engels, also said that they would change existing ways and customs and not just political and economic ones, but the very notion of human morality and the foundations of a healthy society. The destruction of age-old values, religion and relations between people, up to and including the total rejection of family (we had that, too), encouragement to inform on loved ones – all this was proclaimed progress and, by the way, was widely supported around the world back then and was quite fashionable, same as today. By the way, the Bolsheviks were absolutely intolerant of opinions other than theirs.

This, I believe, should call to mind some of what we are witnessing now. Looking at what is happening in a number of Western countries, we are amazed to see the domestic practices, which we, fortunately, have left, I hope, in the distant past. The fight for equality and against discrimination has turned into aggressive dogmatism bordering on absurdity, when the works of the great authors of the past – such as Shakespeare – are no longer taught at schools or universities, because their ideas are believed to be backward. The classics are declared backward and ignorant of the importance of gender or race. In Hollywood memos are distributed about proper storytelling and how many characters of what colour or gender should be in a movie. This is even worse than the agitprop department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Countering acts of racism is a necessary and noble cause, but the new 'cancel culture' has turned it into 'reverse discrimination' that is, reverse racism. The obsessive emphasis on race is further dividing people, when the real fighters for civil rights dreamed precisely about erasing differences and refusing to divide people by skin colour. I specifically asked my colleagues to find the following quote from Martin Luther King: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by their character." This is the true value. However, things are turning out differently there. By the way, the absolute majority of Russian people do not think that the colour of a person's skin or their gender is an important matter. Each of us is a human being. This is what matters.

In a number of Western countries, the debate over men's and women's rights has turned into a perfect phantasmagoria. Look, beware of going where the Bolsheviks once planned to go – not only communalising chickens, but also communalising women. One more step and you will be there.

Zealots of these new approaches even go so far as to want to abolish these concepts altogether. Anyone who dares mention that men and women actually exist, which is a biological fact, risk being ostracised. "Parent number one" and "parent number two," "'birthing parent" instead of "mother," and "human milk" replacing "breastmilk" because it might upset the people who are unsure about their own gender. I repeat, this is nothing new; in the 1920s, the so-called Soviet Kulturtraegers also invented some newspeak believing they were creating a new consciousness and changing values that way. And, as I have already said, they made such a mess it still makes one shudder at times.

Not to mention some truly monstrous things when children are taught from an early age that a boy can easily become a girl and vice versa. That is, the teachers actually impose on them a choice we all supposedly have. They do so while shutting the parents out of the process and forcing the child to make decisions that can upend their entire life. They do not even bother to consult with child psychologists – is a child at this age even capable of making a decision of this kind? Calling a spade a spade, this verges on a crime against humanity, and it is being done in the name and under the banner of progress.

Well, if someone likes this, let them do it. I have already mentioned that, in shaping our approaches, we will be guided by a healthy conservatism. That was a few years ago, when passions on the international arena were not yet running as high as they are now, although, of course, we can say that clouds were gathering even then. Now, when the world is going through a structural disruption, the importance of reasonable conservatism as the foundation for a political course has skyrocketed – precisely because of the multiplying risks and dangers, and the fragility of the reality around us.

This conservative approach is not about an ignorant traditionalism, a fear of change or a restraining game, much less about withdrawing into our own shell. It is primarily about reliance on a time-tested tradition, the preservation and growth of the population, a realistic assessment of oneself and others, a precise alignment of priorities, a correlation of necessity and possibility, a prudent formulation of goals, and a fundamental rejection of extremism as a method. And frankly, in the impending period of global reconstruction, which may take quite long, with its final design being uncertain, moderate conservatism is the most reasonable line of conduct, as far as I see it. It will inevitably change at some point, but so far, do no harm – the guiding principle in medicine – seems to be the most rational one. Noli nocere, as they say.

Again, for us in Russia, these are not some speculative postulates, but lessons from our difficult and sometimes tragic history. The cost of ill-conceived social experiments is sometimes beyond estimation. Such actions can destroy not only the material, but also the spiritual foundations of human existence, leaving behind moral wreckage where nothing can be built to replace it for a long time.

- Koulut on kyllästetty tällä aatteella
- Valtiot levittää tätä aatetta
- Some & media on täynnä tätä aatetta
