Islamilainen valtio väittää sillä olevan taistelijoita hyökkäysvalmiudessa.

Islamilaisen valtion uskotaan kirjoittaneen sosiaalisessa mediassa viestin, jonka mukaan jihadistijärjestöllä on taistelijoita eri puolilla Yhdysvaltoja valmiina hyökkäämään mitä tahansa kohdetta vastaan.

Isis ilmoitti tiistaina, että Texasissa Muhammad-karikatyyrejä esittelevään näyttelyyn hyökänneet miehet olivat järjestön sotilaita. Hyökkäys oli ensimmäinen, jonka Isis väittää tehneensä Yhdysvalloissa.

Tiistaina julkaistun viestin mukaan Isiksellä on "71 koulutettua sotilasta 15 eri osavaltiossa valmiina hyökkäämään".

Interpol Chief: Arm Citizens Globally to Prevent Terror Attacks 
Powerful public relations blow to gun control lobby

Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble told ABC News that one of the only ways to prevent terrorists from hitting soft targets was to arm citizens globally, noting that the Westgate mall siege would have been averted far quicker if it had taken place in gun-friendly areas like Denver or Texas.

Noble's statements are a powerful rebuttal to the anti-gun lobby, especially given his background. The Interpol chief was formerly the head of all law enforcement for the U.S. Treasury Department.

Stressing that an "armed citizenry" was the only option besides turning soft targets like shopping malls into enclaves surrounded by "extraordinary security" perimeters, Noble suggested that the siege in Kenya, which dragged on for days and ended in the slaughter of 60 civilians, represented a huge public relations blow for gun control advocates.

"Ask yourself: If that was Denver, Col., if that was Texas, would those guys have been able to spend hours, days, shooting people randomly?" Noble said, referring to states with pro-gun traditions. "What I'm saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, 'Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?' This is something that has to be discussed."

"For me it's a profound question," he continued. "People are quick to say 'gun control, people shouldn't be armed,' etc., etc. I think they have to ask themselves: 'Where would you have wanted to be? In a city where there was gun control and no citizens armed if you're in a Westgate mall, or in a place like Denver or Texas?'"

As we reported last month, an off-duty SAS soldier armed with a handgun helped save at least 100 lives during the Westgate siege, returning to the building a dozen times to rescue hostages.

Noble's argument that guns in the hands of responsible citizens can prevent bloodshed is backed by hard statistics.

According to a 1993 National Self- Defense Survey conducted by Gary Kleck, Ph.D., a professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Americans use guns to defend themselves against a confrontation with a criminal up to 2.5 million times a year. This means that every day in America some 6,800 people use guns to protect themselves.

Scholars Clayton E. Cramer and David Burnett have documented how "a great number of tragedies — murders, rapes, assaults, robberies — have been thwarted by self-defense gun uses."

On one side, you had two men in body armor, toting assault rifles and showing every willingness to open fire now and count their victims later. On the other, you had a security officer -- a traffic officer by day -- with a pistol.

Somehow, the officer won.

Authorities have not released the name of the overmatched Garland, Texas, police officer who stopped a pair of gunmen Sunday night outside that city's Curtis Culwell Center, where people had gathered at an event featuring controversial cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed. But they have described what he did, actions that could be characterized as equal parts skillful, heroic and miraculous.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson lauded the police officer for having "acted quickly and decisively, and thereby likely (saving) a number of innocent lives."

"He did what he was trained to do," added Garland police spokesman Joe Harn. "And under the fire that he was put under, he did a very good job."

The officer who'd later be praised as a hero was parked in a patrol car in front of the first entrance, from the east, off Naaman Forest Boulevard into the center's parking lot. An unarmed Garland school district security officer sat in the car with him, ostensibly to check the identification of those coming in.

The event started, by all accounts, without a hitch around 5 p.m. (6 p.m. ET), and for nearly two hours nothing serious happened.

Until, that is, about 6:50 p.m., when a dark-colored vehicle pulled into the entrance the Garland officer and school district officer were blocking.

"When that car pulled up and stopped, those officers began to exit that vehicle, and two men exited the dark-colored sedan," Harn said. "Both of them had assault rifles, came around the back of the car and started shooting at the police car."

According to a law enforcement source close to the investigation, the two men had six guns -- a mix of assault-style semiautomatic rifles and handguns -- that are being traced back to various parts of Arizona.

Gunfire reverberated around the complex, from the two gunmen, and the armed officer.

A short time later, four members of a nearby SWAT team came in firing their high-powered rifles, according to a source familiar with the officers involved. But by the time they did, the Garland traffic officer was the only one standing.

The school district officer had been hit in the leg, according to Harn.

And the two attackers were already down on the ground by their car, having been shot by the traffic officer.

Within 15 seconds, the chaotic eruption was basically over.

Ei tuossa Texasilaisen poliisin ja jihadistien kohtaamisessa sinänsä mitään ihmeellistä ollut. Kokenut ja koulutettu aseenkäsittelijä kohtasi kaksi jihad-wannabetä, jotka melko varmasti aitoon muslimityyliin juuri ja juuri tiesivät miten päin asetta pidetään kädessä. Jihadisteilla oli yllätys ja tulenavaus puolellaan, ja silti onnistuivat ampumaan vartijaa vain jalkaan, joten tämä viittaa parhaaseen spray-and-pray, siis roiski-ja-rukoile- ampumatekniikkaan. Musujen asevalintakin viittaa tähän, kuvissa on näkynyt Kel-tecin valmistama pistoolikaliiberin karbiini, joka on halpa ja aseena täyttä kuraa, mutta helposti hankittavissa.

Suuremmassa mittakaavassa näin voisi käydä myös, jos jenkit päättäisivät laittaa vaikka merijalkaväen divisioonalle vapaat kädet hoitelemaan ISIStä pois maailmankartalta. Lopputulos olisi jotain tämän kaltaista...

Super kudos to the off-duty officer who calmly dropped the musloids with perfect cranial shots, knowing that they were wearing body armor, and thus a headshot was required.  With his .45 pistol.  Just fantastic.  Movies have lulled all of us into believing that accuracy with a handgun is easy.  Well, it ain't.  It is intensely difficult, even when practicing calmly on a range.  The fact that this fellow showed such accuracy in, what I understood to be, his very first tactical discharge is even more remarkable.

On ollut luonnonlahjakkuus asialla. Huomasi hyökkääjien luotiliivit, säilytti rauhallisuutensa ja ymmärsi stressitilanteessa ampua heitä päähän. Ja tämä oli hänelle ensimmäinen tositilanne.
